Hi All,
I recently purchsed a NAVMAN 4400 GPS. I've managed to get the thing paired but can't connect to a serial port. Bluetooth tools gives me a choice of com ports 2, 4 & 7, but those port choices are missing in the NAVMAN software. All other ports are shown (1, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 9).
I can only get the thing connect with all ports showing using "bluetoothgps" software (don't know who wrote it - it was linked from another forum). This software is a bit buggy and pops up an error every time the imate screen goes blank.
Any ideas?
I had the same problem. Try deleting the bond with the Navman and then setting the comm port to 4 in the Navman software. Then bond with Navman gps again and you should be able to select com 4.

Some help please, I have a xda 2, tom tom navigations software and a haicom 204e gps, i can not get the tom tom navigator to see the gps unit i have all the leads and the red led stays on i tried the gps on a laptop with a usb cable works fine, i don,t know which port to connect to ie com 1, 4, 5 etc and which things in the xda to turn on or off, as you can see i am a beginner to this, thanks for any help!!!!!

Go to settings/connections/beams and uncheck the box, in tomtom choose com 1, nmea 4800.

Hello!
I'm a newbee... i want to connect a GPS 4TomTom to the USB Port.
So i don't really know, how to connect the MDA II to the USB GPS-Mouse.
I've taken an USB cable, that could charge the MDA II and build a adapter to connect the cable and the GPS Mouse in it. It won't work. I've think so already, but i've read it anywhere in the www.
So, could anybody help me with the Problem?
I've an Haicom HI-202E GPS-Mouse,

and a 5V Powersupply in my adapter (consists of 2 USB ports connected to each other, powersupplied with an 7805 (2A))

I'm not 100% sure, but i think, that wouldn't work.
The USB Specifications says that USB requires one master device to controll the slave devices. Your PC is the master device and the mda is just an slave. You won't be able to get 2 slaves talking to each other without a master.....

I've heard it so. But I'm not shure.
Some people gets a external HDD working on other PDA's.
I'll look and think about, but i've never found anithing an web for thet problem/solution. :roll:
I've wondered that nobody wants to connect more on the PDA...
I mean 20Gig HDD may be nice in Holliday to listen music :wink:

I have an xda 1 & am trying to get the gps to work. I have a Haicom hi204s gps receiver & a (ic-xda-ht for 02 xda tmoble ) cable for the car.
The software I am using is tom tom 3 ver 3.02
I have turned the beam off
My settings for the gps page are Haicom GPS + com1
I am at a loss !!

@nobody: THE MDA can ony act as slave.
BUT: For GPS you ony need a serial port. And after all USB IS a serial type of port.
Only thing you need to do is solder a cable that connects the +5v, ground, Tx and Rx of the GPS USB connector to the appropiate pins of the MDA connector . . . .
On one of the german forums (cant remember the name :-( )there is a memeber nicked 'mocki' that offers custom built cables.
Tanman, choose nmea 4800 and com 1. Make sure beams are off and also that you dont have a keyboard driver loaded. Go to the gps screen in tomtom and see if there is any bars showing for satellites. If this doesnt work or gives an error let me know.

So i have this program combined with this GPS aerial. However it would appear they have had a fight and will not communicate! Well to be honest i am unable to open a Com port according to the program...

I think I know the correct port and speed, but trying to connect always yield's "Failed to open COM Port."
The access to a COM-port is mutual exclusive which means, that only one program may have access to the receiver at once.
If you are using TomTom, please try the following:
On the PocketPC, uninstall the TomTom ~GPS application (that and only that one)
Don't do it via the PC, do it on the PDA directly
The uninstall routine will ask for a soft reset. After that, everything (including TomTom) will work
Most probably another program or driver is blocking the port.

Now - this and Pocket Informant are the only 2 programs i ahve had running and also the only ones on my XDA after my Hard Resset last night
What is the problem and how do i fix it? Has anyone else had this issue - i have looked under their Success page for those with problems like mine but i cant find my combination or anyhting close
Also Oziexplorer was working with it up until i hard-resetted it so i know that the GPS works.

Disconnect the IR which is using the comport. Got to the connections setup and disable.
Directly after this has been done TomTom finds the GPS.

Immediately after shutting the infrared off it switched on - it must block the com port from anything going in then...
So the big question remains - Why was Oziexplorer working with it?

I love the phone but I cannot believe that its so hard to sync with Vista via Bluetooth. It has the latest mobile software and vista is the new OS, how can they **** things up so badly?
I know there are some issues with the Sony Vaio Bluetooth stack. Its super confusing and the Bluetooth settings are hard to find.
Is it actually possible to Sync with Bluetooth to vista from WM6? Has anyone got this working?

I did. After connecting my TP to the PC via bloetooth, i synced them, but using the phone's ActivSync, and not the Windows Mobile Device Center.
You need to go to your phone and instruct a "bluetooth activesynce".
It worked fine for me and my Vista SP1, using a dead-cheapo USB-bluetooth adapter.
Got it working too. Paired the 2 devices and entered passcode. Then started AS on the phone and selected Connect using BT and off it went. No problems what so ever.
Its good to hear that it works for people.
I think its an issue with the Sony Bluetooth stack. I can pair the devices but the device doesn't show that the laptop has activesync, just wireless stereo. I think I might hate Sony more than Microsoft, Mac next time for sure, so so sick of Vista and spending a week online working things out.
Its a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone has it working on a Sony Laptop with Vista?

my phone found the desktop with bluetooth and i checked activesync and on the phone i hit connect bluetooth it works fine but i hit sync and nothing happens?

I had the same problem with my VAIO TZ and my Tytn II, didn't try with the TP yet.
Apart from replacing the drivers, I seem to remember there was a trick related to changing the COM Port or something (the default port was incompatible with Activesync) but I'm afraid I don't remember. I'll give it a go when I have time to connect both, but it may not happen until I getmy new laptop.

If this is the case, try adding comm port for both your laptop and tp. Outgoing for TP and incoming for laptop. Then you need to set Windows Mobile Center to connect via COM?? (?? is the number you've chosen)
ActiveSync connection (via bluetooth) is actually a comm port connection.

Try removing the pairing and rebond.
It also works fine for me with Vista (non-SP1), newest version of Mobile Center, and a Bluetooth dongle with Microsoft stack.
This worked for me
I used many websites, a lot with very similar advice, but none specific to the HTC touch Diamond conundrum.
However, this is a very useful step by step guide:

The advice below is device specific
I use:
HTC Touch Diamond (with WM 6.1)
WMDC 6.1
Bluesoleil V6 Bluetooth Dongle
Although I had found the above advice on previous websites, and it had not worked I remained persistent.
I was able to find 'Activesync' as a service when, on my PC, changed the WMDC connection settings to COM 3.
However every time I tried to 'connect via BT' on my device, it said 'no partnership existed......'.
I therefore established some more com ports on my computer (in addition to COM 3, COM 4, COM 5 which I had taken authorisation off of):
COM 6
COM 7. Both without authorisation.
I then used the trial and error method to find which com port would broadcast 'activesync' to my device. It was still COM 3.
However, on trying 'activesync via BT'on my device this time, it began to connect!!!
I am not sure whether opening up the extra ports (COM 6 and COM 7) or whether my computer/device decided it was now the time to play ball since it realised I was about to take a cricket bat to it worked but it now syncs fantastically.
NB: There was no need to reinstall any software or windows operating system (as some other posts on other websites have suggested)
I still cannot get this to work. I couldn't on my Sprint Touch and now I can't on my Touch Pro.
I have Vista Home Premium SP1 with WMDC 6.1
Computer was formatted to factory settings today. Touch Pro is new as of yesterday.
I paired the phone to the computer and the computer to the phone. ActiveSync was a profile available for the computer and I made sure it was ticked.
I plugged in the phone via USB and set up the partnership. All is good there.
When I open ActiveSync on the phone and click "connect via bluetooth" it tells me it cannot open the port.
This is the exact same problem I had with my Touch. The computer is newly formatted and isn't communicating with any other bluetooth device at all. How can the port not be available? I've tried the regedit. Tried making incoming ports on the computer. No avail. However, I cannot make new outgoing ports on the phone. The tab is there but no option to do so.
Any help?

I just found an easy solution for u guys who using Toshiba Bluetooth Stack ...
U guys no need to remove anything ...
All u need to do is verify the COM port of ur bluetooth ...
1. Go to the “Bluetooth Local COM” Applet in your Control Panel
2.Open “Bluetooth Local COM” applet where you will see a list of Ports
3. The Corerct port you need to use is
“COM7 Toshiba BT Port (COM7) LocalCOM-Server[SerialPort(TOSHIBA LocalCOM)]
and not “COM6 Toshiba BT Port (COM6) LocalCOM-Client”

Joystick options appeared to be limited for most of us, so I'm posting this thread to help generate interest in finding a universal workaround - and to start tossing around ideas. Here are mine;
USB to mini USB: Could a joystick be rewired to use a mini USB jack? Seems like you would only need drivers to get it to work.
HTC 4-in-1 Cable: The HTC Athena (aka Advantage) has a cable that provides a normal USB jack. With it you can connect a mouse and keyboard, and using this driver you can even connect a joystick. I'm wondering, if we could just get a proper mini USB cable, maybe this driver would work on other devices? Someone was able to get a USB joystick to work on a Toshiba TG01, so I have hope!
BGP100 Gamepad (MSI and Chainpus): Unfortunately, support for this gamepad stopped and the drivers don't seem to work on newer phones (with few exceptions).
Please try to be constructive with the ideas/feedback. Hopefully by pooling our resources we can come up with a mutually beneficial solution.
Id like a workaround for this aswell, especially for the HD2 when it comes out
I spoke with 'i900frenchaddict' from FPSEce. He was able to get a joystick to work on his Toshiba TG01 by buying a USB A Female to Mini USB B 5 Pin Male adapter and using the hidgamep.dll driver.
I've got a HTC Touch Pro 2 (Rodium). I just ordered the adapter and I'm going to try to get it to work. I'll post my results later.

A USB host port is hardware based; it cannot be ported by any software means. Rudegar is right about the Athena being the only HTC device with a USB host capabilities, but phones from other manufactures have this feature, such as the TG01. Maybe someday HTC will catch on, but current HTC devices don't have this feature (exception is Athena).

Bummer. That effectively kills the USB option.
Looks like Bluetooth is the only way to go. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the BGP100 is the only offering at the moment - and it only works on some phones.
Anybody want to take a crack at updating the drivers to work with newer phones like the HTC Touch Pro 2?

What I wonder, is if it may work on a device without a supposed "real USB host" function.
I don't have the correct adapter to plug a pad yet, but one thing is sure: my omnia has the same registry, so it was possible to create the new keys exactly like on my TG01.
Well, my adapter should arrive tomorrow. So I'll experiment and see what happens.

I'd be nice if someone made a Bluetooth USB host device with 2 USB ports on it. Then all we need is a driver to work with WM and BAM... everyone can now use USB devices! I imagine such a device would sell pretty good.
Either that or HTC needs to start including the USB host on all future phones. This will definitely be the deal breaker for my next phone... unless of course it happens to have a usable d-pad (haha, fat chance in this touchscreen obsessed world).
Only thing left to do now is hope some kind dev updates the BGP100 drivers *wink* *wink*
Speaking of Bluetooth, it would be nice if someone managed to code Wiimote+Classic Controller or Sixaxis/DualShock 3 drivers for Windows Mobile. The input devices in question already use Bluetooth, and I've never perceived any control latency-it's just a matter of drivers.
Too bad about the lack of USB host, though. I actually thought most HTC devices ever since the Touch Diamond/Pro had it built-in already judging by the USB port shape, and that you'd just need an adapter to use the host capability.
Funny thing is that the Sprint version of the HTC Touch Pro 2 has the Qualcomm MSM7600 chipset which actually has embedded support for USB OTG HS. Yet somewhere along the line someone must have disabled the functionally (much like they disable the radio).
I would venture a guess that the MSM7200a chipset has the same support, but disabled of course.

Confirmed the BGP100 is not working on the HD2. I get "connection error..insufficient memory"
I think that BGP100 is not compatible with the wisdom stack. if we can find a way to use the ms stack we should be fine. so far ia have not found on instructions on how to change the stack.

I have a msi bt gamepad and a tp2. so far I have been able to connect using my bt settings and something called spp slave (its some type of serial port) but without updated divers formy device i cant do much more :-/ since i have little tech know how i am stuck here. I have heard that the bgp 100 works for the HD 2 (they have the same bt stack I think) so what gives?
