WM 2005 for MPX200 smartphone Build 14343

Hello,
I know this isn't related to the PDA phones, but since it was one of the first smartphones powered by a microsoft OS and some of you like myself might have started out with one I thought this might interest you.
I managed to get the WM5 rom off someone advertising it on the web. It came in 3 parts, and you use a dos program to flash it. Basically when you run part one it gives you a device ID from the phone which you send to him, and then he sends you a key which flashes the device.
Due to flash space on the mpx200 being limited it installs part of the rom onto the storage card, but due to the way in which WM5 manages memory this doesn't work out as bad as you think, which is also the case for WM5 on the mpx200.
In fact I think this rom is a big fat kick in the teeth for companies like I-Mate who won't offer upgrades to older devices based on hardware restrictions. WM5 is probably the best OS for the mpx200, and although its sluggish at times, its no worse than any other OS on the mpx200 (in all honest I think the mpx200 is a bit sluggish regardless).
All in all its quite ironic using WM5 on the MPX200 given the fact my primary phone is a magician which doesn't even have a leaked version.

Funny...The MPX200 was originally shipped with the 2002 OS. Nice find i guess.

Okay, I've downloaded it, and checked it out. First, a quick google revealed that someone is selling it on ebay. The zip has 3 bin files and a "dark5.exe". The instructions says (this is just a part):
"3-Type "dark5 part1.bin" and hit enter, it should come up with a Screen
telling you your Hardware FingerPrint, and asking you to enter a User Name
and a Key. Send me your Hardware Fingerprint, and I will send you your
Username and Key, once entered, it will not ask again."
And since the seller of ebay has the word "dark" in it too, i guess it is the same thing. So, uh, this ROM needs some patching by the SPV-dev/XDA-dev guys
I've looked into the .bin files; a string says: "c : \ m a g b e t a 5 \" so i guess this is magneto beta 5...
It is possible to extract part2.bin into imgfs_raw_data.bin and imgfs_removed_data.bin with mamaich's WM5 ROM tools but the dump tool crashes after extracting a few files.
I *guess* part3.bin is the bootloader.

This firmware installed many peoples from xUSSR and its WORK!
SD card used for store all datafiles and installed programs.
for flashing you can convert bin files to "cmcs image" format. You can use mpx200_backup from marsgod or BINtoIMG from www.onk.nm.ru/mpx200/

Can anybody help MPx220 users to convert that ROM to their devices?
On MPx200s this ROM works fine.. there are about 500 messages of MPx200 users that installed that ROM on their smartphones. I search a ROM for my MPx220... but I can't find

problem with my magician with WM5

Hi all, I have read through the forum and I saw that everyone said that it is impossible to put Windows Mobile 5 into Magician.

Ok, here is my problem. I received this as a gift... as you can see, the OS is in Chinese. I tried to install an English flash in it using instructions provided from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Magician .. but it doesn't work.. MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe keeps complainting that it cannot flash the phone.
I don't care if it's using WM3 or WM4 or WM5... as long as I can use it... can anyone help? thanks.

Its not a magician, it has an Omap processor.

The Magician and Charmer have the same design(case). T-mobile sales them as MDA Compact and Compact II. The Compact is in silver, the Compact II is in a dark silver ; )
Use a HTC Charmer Rom, i think there's one on the ftp.

Incase you want to know, you can flash its ROM with aWizard (I did that before). Do a search in this forum.
BTW, you can tell it is an MDA Compact with pink/black face is a Charmer. And the face plate is plastic, while Magician (as I heard) is made of 'metal'.

Your signature says you have a Hermes. Are you trying to flash your Hermes with a Kaiser ROM?

Is it necessary to Hard-SPL before flashing an official ROM with the HTC upgrading utility...?!
I never did before flashing official roms on my hermes No problems encountered!

Do you have an HTC TyTN II or a rebranded device like the Tilt?
And the ROM you have downloaded from HTC site in on the same language as the currently loaded?
HTC official ROM upgrade will only work if you meet certain criteria. For all the other cases you need HardSPL so the phone lets you load anything.

Ok, first off, the Kaiser is not a Hermes and flashing HardSPL on the Kaiser takes a few more initial steps.
STEP 1: Read the Wiki.

That's what I did when I migrated from Hermes to Kaiser and have found fixes for all of my problems and answers to all of my questions.

CHS_Rom is really important?(国人请进)

随着Cotulla放出了WWE ROM之后，很多国内的玩家整天都在催促Cotulla放出另外一个中文的ROM.作为一个wm玩家，我能够体会到你们的心情。在国内，很多818的玩家都一直用了这部机器很多年了，一直以来你只可以用2003SE的系统，像QQ,UCWEB和飞信2008等很多软件都安装不了。当你看见818的wm6.1 rom出来的时候，眼里必定是充满希望的。但是请你们也别忘了一点，Cotulla和你们一样是818的玩家，他也有自己的工作和生活，他做818的rom只是为了兴趣。说实话，如果你实在是心急用上wm6.1的Rom,你可以在我们国内的口袋数码论坛下载这个Rom然后加上中文汉化包先使用嘛！
总而言之，能看到Cotulla在818上的成就是件幸运的事，倘若没有他的尝试，我们也许永远也看不到818的wm6.1 rom诞生。所以我们也不要过度关注Cotulla什么时候出中文Rom了，毕竟人家已经答应我们去做一个全中文的Rom，知足常乐啊！我们现在应该做的是给Cotulla多一点鼓励而不是整天地催促。呵呵！

饿～～图片说是把两片内存 剪掉 ～～其实不是剪掉，是用 热风枪 吹掉。。。可惜我没工具。否则就自己动手了。。。过几天我升级了再上图片。

I used Cotulla's WM6.1 later, found a problem, about 30 seconds phone call will be automatically no signal. . .
My PPC is Dopod 818. ...
In 2003se ROM ,No this problem....

对于Cotulla共享出小8的wm.6.1的版本,个人已经很感谢,现在汉化了后,用起来也很满足了。当然出了内核中文的当然最好了.LZ说得对,Cotulla也是要工作,要生活的,既然等6.1出来都等了这么久,相信大家也不介意再等多一点点的时间吧,这里想对老是催Cotulla说要快点出中文版的朋友,人要知足一点好.呵呵!~不要心急.

Looking to the future:
Im currently building on two differnt kitchen makes this on is built on slightly modified.
The next major revision is going to be built on the hevy modified one.
What im changing:
New Reg stack for icon and folder layout... that means removing the icon layout from the kitchen and re scripting it in a reg file for insertion.. what this mean? Cleaner less bloted install better uniformit in the regerstry faster rom. Im hopeing to move the icons out of the windows defaiult folder and put them in a sub folder insted
Things i want to do but dont know how:
Clean up Manila correct a lot of duplact info and add themes to the kitchen for beter cooking (for changing stuff around) atm im doing this through cabs on first boot to prevent overrighting my settings (could use help here )
