How to configure WM6 internet sharing using WIFI

Does anyone know how to configure WM6 internet sharing using WIFI via USB to a laptop PC which does not have WIFI?
When I click on the internet sharing, my Qtek 9000 running WM6 always tries to do GPRS/3G connection, even if the WIFI is on and fully functional.
Is there anyway to change that?
Thank you in advance.
From what I understand is that is does exactly what you explain, it will share your device's GPRS/3G internet connection. But I dont think you can turn the Qtek into an accesspoint for laptops to connect to via WiFi or share an incomming WiFi signal.
Biffert,
Yes, you are correct. I want to turn my Qtek 9000 as a WIFI/GPRS/BlueTooth Access Point. Or simply view it as a WIFI/GPRS/BlueTooth internet access super USB dodge for my PC.
Thank you for your pointing out about current internet sharing limitation of WM6.
However, there are two issues about the WIFI can not be shared.
One is that I am often in a place where has no GPRS, only have WIFI.
The other is that there are many regular PDAs which have no GPRS, only have WIFI. When WM6 is available for those regular PDAs, many people will ask this internet sharing via WIFI question.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have done this just now and what you need to do on WM6 is just configure the gprs / 3g settings on your mobile phone and then go to start-programs-internetsharing. The jasjar should be connected via usb.
Set the pc connection to USB and select the nework connection you have previously configured from the list. hit the connect button and you are done
gluck
You could use the GPRS/3G internet sharing to connect your notebook to the internet, and share that connection (using ICS) from the notebook (set the wifi card to Ad-Hoc mode). I have never tried this though, so I'm 100% sure it will work
Thank you to all for your suggestions.
The limitation is that if there is not GPRS available, even though my Qtek is already connected to internet (WIFI), my PC is not able to access internet via USB using Qtek 9000 WM6 internet sharing.
I think that I need to describe the situation in detail.
I have a PC which can not access internet because it does not have WIFI, or BlueTooth, or GPRS. But it has a USB port.
I have a Qtek 9000 which can access internet by either WIFI, or GPRS, or BlueTooth. And my Qtek 9000 has WM6 internet sharing enabled.
What I want to do is to connect PC with Qtek 9000 via USB cable to let my PC to access internet using Qtek 9000 WM6 internet sharing.
Idealy, regardless how my Qtek 9000 is connected to internet (WIFI, GPRS, BlueTooth and etc.), my PC should be able to access internet via USB cable using Qtek 9000 WM6 internet sharing.
The current WM6 internet sharing is limited to that if Qtek 9000 is connected to GPRS internet, my PC is able to access internet via USB cable using Qtek 9000 WM6 internet sharing. If Qtek 9000 is connected to WIFI internet, WM6 internet sharing will not work.
I think this issue will be resolved sooner or later because when regular PDAs start to use WM6, many people will want to have WIFI WM6 internet sharing because regular PDAs do not have GPRS.

Between PCs and regular PDAs, usually the internet connection sharing would go the other way around. Nearly all laptops these days come with a Wifi card and virtually all desktop or laptops come with Ethernet NICs. For this reason I think that perceived demand is low and this functionality was not envisioned when WM6 ICS was designed.
I think the easiest way would be to get a USB wifi adapter for your PC... You won't have to worry about battery life on the phone, etc.
Wondering how possible it is to do something slightly different. I have a UTStarcom PPC-6700 running one of the various AKU3.5s out there. The Internet Sharing feature is great, but the only options are to connect the PC via either USB or Bluetooth.
Now, what would be really slick, since the 6700 has integrated WiFi, would be to enable Internet Sharing over WiFi and effectively turn the 6700 into a WiFi access point. Anyone make any progress on this?
And... I'm new here, so please accept my apologies if I have asked something that has been already asked ad nauseum.

Yes, sharing EVDO over WiFi instead of bluetooth and USB is already possible. Just click here to see how..
However, I have yet to see how to share WiFi over USB or Bluetooth... Let me know if this is posted anywhere...

i have a very similar problem: my laptops built-in wifi-card can only handle WEP encryption, but not WPA !
so i would like to use my Neo as a "wifi-modem", connected to my laptop by usb-cable.
any news on this ?

Leaving GPRS on when connecting via activesync

Hey guys,
I'm trying to find out if there is a way to leave on the gprs of a phone while it is in the cradle connected to a pc via activesync.
I know about the LSPvalue hack but that only allows your phone to connect to the internet via your laptop.
I want it to connect to the laptop via it's own means.
Anyone any ideas? maybe a hack someone has?
Thanks for the help
