I'm getting "Update Fail" when downgrading from RC30 to RC29.
Anyone knows what to do?
what file are u using?
if u are trying to root your g1 then the files from the post stickied "rooting g1" are all working.
I'm using the downgrade from "How-to- Root, Hack, and Flashing your G1/Dream"
got it. Had to put RC33radio_update_testkeys.zip(unpacked) with the RC29 downgrade on the microsd-card before flashing.

After updating to ICS firmware my phones bootloader wont let me downgrade to h-Boot1.17 from 1.2 and everytime i get a "MODEL INCORRECT" and even when I try to reflash ICS firmware still says "INCORRECT".....any help?
You need to complete the super cid step in the android dev section guide. That then allows you to flash any ruu.
I was trying to update to ICS ARHD (6.5.0) by flashing the firmware (3.32.401...) but somewhere along the way that went wrong because now no ROM I flash starts up. Is there a way I can find out my CID and MID number without starting up the phone so I can flash a working PG58IMG. I keep getting a "CID fail" error.

If you got the cid fail message when you were in the process of updating 3.32, then you should still be running your old firmware. Try reverting to 1.17, flash a GB rom and work from there. I know that supercid is not compulsory, but it really does make flashing any new firmware hassle free.

I'm turning on you guys with a ask for a help. I'm trying to install OTA_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.5-1.78.401.2_release_275773ape8z1mahr0gt8fg.zip from your dropbox. Unfortunately it doesn't work. I've already unlocked bootloader, installed new recovery, made a root and now i'm trying to install ICS from SD card. Once I choose the zip file it will run and write a following lines:

OK and now I'm totally screwed. I have tried to install RUU 2.31 unfortunately I've got an error 155. As I read a forum it should be because I've unlocked my phone. So now I'm trying to lock it again but I cant get into boot menu . It goes directly into Clockworkmod recovery. Can anyone write me, how can I go back into my boot menu? I have tried everything .
Redownload the RUU. It seems to have been corrupted.

So i am stuck with a locked bootloader with s-on and unable to install any ruu. Every time i tried to restore my phone with a ruu it would give me a 132 signature error. Is my phone truly bricked or is there a way to restore it. I also tried the PG88IMG.zip on the root of a goldcard but it wouldn't work. It would check the PG88IMG and then continue with going into the bootloader.
U need to find the exact ruu for ur phone, region, brand etc. Ur goldcard obviously wasnt made right or didnt work (sometimes happens) so either find exact ruu or try a dif sdcard to make a goldcard.
i tried another goldcard and it still gave me a 132 signature error. I don't think it's a goldcard error since if it was it would be a signature verification error if there was no goldcard on the phone. I'm just wondering if there is anyway to recover my phone if the only thing i have access to is hboot with s-on, locked, and fastboot.

could just be a bad download. what ruu are ya trying to flash?
I was trying to install the ics update ruu and i'm pretty sure it's the only ruu that works now since my phone is recognized as being on the same version as the ics update. i cannot downgrade since downgrading requires adb and i don't have access to that.

I just SOFF and tried to flash this RUU but keep failing.
I have tried two method putting it on my external SD. Downloaded the file, renamed it and put it as PL99IMG.zip but it doesn't work.
Also tried to flash using fastboot but get a failed message too. Is the RUU compatible with my phone? I used it long time ago and it is all right it don't seems to work now.
finally got it. These are the steps if anyone is interested for CID044 devices.
1) Upgrade Hboot to using the files here
2) S-off using rumrunner.
3) downgrade to 1.41 hboot
4) download RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2157029
5) Follow these instructions to update
