Help to revert to stock - HTC Butterfly

Hi, u'm on Newroot 4.1 rom.
I need to return to android 4.3 sense 5 stock rom. How do I do that? Last time i tried and gave up but I need to try it again. Can someone please guide me?

Hi Guys,
i'm have flashed the rom from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43816453&postcount=2) and revert to stock boot and recovery.
But now when I try to get OTA update, there is a message saying "Variant system version"
Any idea?

Guys, help please! I can't update from OTA!

The link you stated is for TW version (.709) which your CID should be HTC_621.

thanks. My CID is 044.
I just SOFF and tried to flash this RUU but keep failing.
I have tried two method putting it on my external SD. Downloaded the file, renamed it and put it as PL99IMG.zip but it doesn't work.
Also tried to flash using fastboot but get a failed message too. Is the RUU compatible with my phone? I used it long time ago and it is all right it don't seems to work now.

finally got it. These are the steps if anyone is interested for CID044 devices.
1) Upgrade Hboot to using the files here
2) S-off using rumrunner.
3) downgrade to 1.41 hboot
4) download RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2157029
5) Follow these instructions to update

[Q] RUU executables

I've just successfully gone through the process of S-OFF, CWM, etc, to change my CID from UK Vodafone to generic EU HTC__001. No problems at all.
I'm wondering though when you download the RUU executable, run it to get at the extracted rom.zip and then cancel the HTC RUU to do the rest manually, what would actually happen if you ran the RUU , would it not do the upgrade for you anyway?
Second question - Now I have the CID of HTC__001, and have flashed the 1.35.401.1 latest version, when the next version is out, will it be an easy update via the OTA utility on the phone, or do you need to keep doing the long winded flashing method forever now?

Yeah it would flash for you, or at least it did for me! I re-ran my stock RUU just to be on the safe side after S-Off and it redoes everything but kept my S-Off... so I just reflashed CWM (PD58IMG.zip method), and then rooted the stock ROM.

From my understanding OTA's won't flash through a third-party recovery (CWM) so if you keep the stock recovery then I think it would work... But from this point on there will probably be pre-rooted version of most every release packaged in a nice .zip for you to flash with ROM Manager/CWM... or who knows maybe you'll find a nice ROM you like and then the chef would keep you updated!
I hope that helps!
Yes, very useful thanks.
Is there any difference between renaming rom.zip to PD58IMG.zip and letting it happen , or putting rom.zip on and doing "update from zip file" from recovery?

[Q] Update being blocked?

Hey,
[i'm new here, but i couldn't find a post with this exact problem]
I've been using my HTC Sensation rooted for about 8 months now on 2.3.4/5, and with ICS officially being released i want to update to ICS.
I do have my phone rooted but i do not have any custom roms installed.
In theory it should just update OTA to ICS but when i try to update it my phone reboots and then it gives me this image of an android mascot besides a warning mark (the image didn't work.). Is this superuser blocking the update?
Now i'm wondering what is the best way to get ICS update to work.
At this moment i don't care if i lose the root on my device.
I've been thinking about flashing it so that it would remove the root, make it S-on and remove superuser. (basically make it like it was when i bought it.) and then updating it to ICS.
Any help with my problem or on how to handle the flashing will be appreciated.
If you're rooted, download 4EXT updater, flash 4EXT recovery, flash the 3.32 firmware, then flash an ICS rom.
If i'm correct that will give me a custom rom.
And at the moment i would like to keep the rom stock because i would like all the options to work.
If i'm wrong and it will update to stock rom, then i'll give it a go.
Otherwise is there a way to update to stock rom?
You can't be rooted to flash the OTA, and you HAVE to have the stock recovery too
alright so i need to unroot the phone and somehow manage to uninstall superuser (if it doesn't uninstall with the unrooting).
So my question then is,
Is this possible to unroot the device?
Maybe someone can link me to a good tutorial ?
You need to restore stock recovery and your oringinal Rom intact ( not delete apps in the stock rom). Stock recovery can be obtained from RUU.
Or just flash New firmware and custom Rom if your phone is s-off.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA Premium HD app
alright, can i use any vodafone stock recovery for my device?
and is there a tutorial around? for noobs like me?

Guide for debranding or going back to stock.
Basically you need to download your stock RUU and go back to your original CID (if you supercided).
The guide basically covers almost all your concern in returning to stock rom and recovery.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio
i'll give that a go tomorrow and let you guys know what happend.
[dumb noob question!! this should make my phone look like it was when it came out of the box right?]
If i'm correct i need a RUU.
Is it possible to do this tutorial using the OTA update file i got for the ICS update?
Update
So,,
After 2 days of trying to download a good RUU file.
I still don't have it, filefactory always says that the free download slots are all taken.
So i would love if someone could tell me if it is possible to just flash the update file called:
OTA_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_R-1.50.401_release_252072fll6erqo75dsziua.zip
I would appreciate a reply telling me if this is possible or why it is not possible.
As said, you need to be on a stock unrooted rom and stock recovery.
Is your phone branded or unbranded. What RUU were you trying to download? 1.50.401.1 or else?
Also, did you supercid or not? if yes, you need to go back to original CID to get OTA.
Do not attempt do flash the OTA.zip from a custom recovery because it will fail.
I have RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_R_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_228602_signed wich is the latest GB for european unbranded devices. If this is what you are looking for, I could upload it for you. Let me know.
@kualmente
I would appreciate it if you could upload your RUU so i can use it.
As for the phone,
I still have stock rom and recovery, i only rooted it and did supercid.
So when i have a RUU file for my unbranded Sensation i can follow this toturial:

[Q] S3 Villec2 OTA update

I've got an HTC One S [s3]. CID is HTC__622 Asia HK
I have unlocked bootloader, TWRP recovery and superSU loaded as well as Rom Manger
Tonight there is an OTA update available. So I want to use it. I downloaded it and
ran command: fastboot oem lock
and tried to run the update. It just keeps booting into my fastboot menu.
I heard that I need to install stock recovery tfor this to work but I don't know where I can find it.
I do have a reovery_signed.img file that I saved from somewhere that is 5,957 kb. Not sure if I flash that if it would give me stock recovery.
Can someone give me a direction to go. I have spent last 12 hours just reading stuff and still don't know what to do.
Htc_asia_hk Stock Recovery File
Does anyone know where I can find the stock recovery file for my One S [S3]
Its Htc_asia_hk the CID is HTC__622 ???
The beginning of the file name should look like this:
RUU_VILLEC2_U_ICS_40_HTC_ASIA_HK_
Flash stock recovery
Lock bootloader
Then run the ota update.

The problem is I didn't take a backup before I unlocked my bootloader and flashed twrp recovery so I don't have a stock recovery to go back to.
The RUU for HTC__044 has a different CID and won't work on my device unless I can extract just the stock recovery from the RUU without having to install it. Is that possible?

i also have htc__622 CID and i didn't make backup before fiddling with the innards.
What you have to do is
1. Flash stock recovery
2. Lock your bootloader
3. Enter fastboot and run the RUU for your phone
Your phone will then be just as it was when you bought it and then you can run the OTA. Make sure you find the right RUU for your phone. I have been searchiing for one for days and couldnt find it. Hope this helped

I have the same problem, so I have few questions....
Where can I find stock recovery for HTC One S c2?
How to lock bootloader?
THANK YOU!
I have a question.
I already flash 4.1.1 via OTA and use some bloody init.d script for R/W system, that doesnt work and gives me reboot after I enter into supersu app.
My question is... how can i flash 4.1.1 again (i wanna clean system, just for better feeling.) If Im using TWRP recovery? Because, ota file doesnt contain stock recovery as RUU does and I didnt find any ruu for 4.1.1 CID_032 | villec2.
sorry, for my bad english.

Maybe a stock recovery of JB would be enough.
Hello guys,
Try this:
Step 1: relock the bootloader (start your phone in fastboot, open cmd, got to folder where are fastboot files, type "fastboot oem lock" )
Step 2: find your desired stock jb or ics online. http://filesdownload.net/showthread.php?70-HTC-One-S-(-RUU_VILLE-)-(-RUU_VILLEC2-)
Step 3: connect your phone to the pc in fastboot (make sure you have the htc drivers installed).
Step 4: run the RUU or stock file as an exe. An installation guide will follow, just follow it through.
Step 5: Now you are in stock ROM
It should work after this!
On my HTC One S [S3] , CID HTC_032 works
splanet.info has something interesting
At least ota is there for htc__622

After I locked my bootloader and tried running the OTA update I tried a few things that didn't work.
But what did work for me was when I unlocked bootloader again
And used Hasoon's Toolkit for One S
and reflashed the recovery file. I used the recovery_signed.img file (5,957 kb) that I had saved from when I was rooting it the first time and renamed it to a one word name per Hasoon's instructions, then flashed it.
Then I relocked bootloader and did a factory reset and ran the OTA update and it worked.
I was lucky that I had that recovery file saved. Still not sure where I got it from. But one thing for sure is that it was hard to find a RUU file for my CID. Hasoon's toolkit does have links to a website with a list of RUUs on it but mine wasn't on the list.
If you want me to email you my signed_recovery.img file send me a pm with your email address and I'll send it.

Yes, you will need to update firmware.
Easy way is to run a Jellybean RUU.exe. Since you are S-off just go into bootloader, fastboot USB , and run the RUU.
or firmware update this way

(If you are going the maximus 4.2.2 or 2.16 hboot route, follow instructions on the maximus thread.)

Also i tried the RUU from HTC nothing works !!! i want to cuss so bad AAHHHHHH
You're going to have to be more specific about what you did if you want anyone to help you. What did you try to do that didn't work the first time? What all did you wipe? What is your device doing now? How did you try and use the RUU and did it give you any clues when it didn't work? Can you boot into fastboot mode at all?

You will have to take the 1.56.X latest ruu manually (from recovery or SD download mode) and then upgrade using the OTA.
Or PM me for the firmware image for the a9 to get to nougat.
