Wi-Fi Will not shut off, no reboot/standby/shutdown on Touch Pro, Help Needed - General Questions and Answers

After rebooting my phone earlier today my wi-fi has been stuck on, yet shows as off in QuickMenu and Comm Mgr. Any attempt to "turn on" the switches fail, even turn off option in wi-fi set up dialog does nothing. Can anyone help me?
EDIT: I also noticed now that any command to reboot the phone, along with standby (yes, even my top button), and power off commands are not working either.
EDIT2: It also now seems the screen will not rotate when the keyboard is slid out. I'm beginning to think my only option is to do a hard reset, and I'd REALLY rather avoid that...
EDIT3: AND it thinks it's charging...
EDIT4: Also all of my buttons don't work...

thats weird
my touch pro is doing just the opposite..... i can't turn off the wifi, the "switch" is grayed out to the point that it will not let me turn it off

wierd, does a soft reset not work? Never seen that before...
Have you altered anything recently or added an app that could be causing compatibilty issues?

My backlight wont go off since last night.

It wastes lots of battery. I think i might have damaged the light sensor but i've tried turning it off but it doesnt change anything.
Anybody know?
Even if the light sensor is damaged, your backlight will go off after your device idles for some. Check your settings
thanks for the prompt reply.
ive checked all my power managment settings and they're all on the lowest time settings..
i dont understand why it would do this.
Are you using any softwares that manages the backlight timeout? Such as Tweak2k2, etc
it seems to be working fine now after i restarted my phone.
i wasnt using any software.
thanks for your help.

my phone did this before. but yea just a simple reset fixed it
Maybe you installed maniac's AutoKeyLock, I had the same behavior a couple of time...
It seems like after some time, it overrides by mistake the power mgt values.
Hi!
I have the same problem. Wm6 The back light turn to the dim mode and that"s all. It does switch off the screen. If I connect to the AC power It does the same. When I lock the keypad, every thing seems to be all right. It switches the screen off. Any idea. I restarted the phone, but nothing changed, i didn't install any Autokeylock program.
Hi, this problem exist occasionally after you install some apps (i.e. AutoKeylock). You can fix it easy - enter registry and open key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power" then modify value in key "Display".
Thanks, it is working.

Tornado (WM6 Platinum) doesn't start

Hi,
I'm experiencing a strange problem with my Tornado (i-mate SP5, WM6 Platinum Edition). Today it stopped working suddenly, I had to remove the battery. When rebooting, the i-mate sceen appears, then the HTC logo, then Nitrogenius' splashscreen, then a beep sounds, and afterwards the screen is black and nothing happens, no keys are responding. I can "switch off" the phone by long pressing of the power key. Reset with pressing the 2 soft keys and the starting key does not work, the phone starts until the splashscreen and afterwards the screen goes black. Strangely I can connect the phone with activesync, synchronize contacts and calendar and even explore the device with activesync's filemanager; and the battery is charging, too.
Any suggestions except reflashing?
Regards

Thanks for the hint, I tried, but unfortunately I seem to miss something. Could you elaborate a bit how you managed to switch on backlight.
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: It worked! You made my day!
After pressing the keys you mentioned (and some others, too) and after rebooting again the backlight is on again. Thanks a lot!
I met the same problem in many cases and I found the culprit, it is tornadolowlight or tornadopowercontrol. while these appli are activating if I soft reset or by force restart (removing battery) then next startup will get a blank screen. But actually in this case the device is on and working only thing is its backlight is off. So, by using a torch light or simply using MyMobiler from a pc you can see the screen, and start that culprit appli then done
OR another thing I have done is I put shortkey for MultiFlashLight and whenever such situation happened I just press the shortkey and activated it and done

Weird Fuze Power Button Issue

I have been experiencing a periodic problem where the screen on my Fuze will be on, and it will not dim or go to sleep. Even if I press the power button it does not shut off. So the screen stays on completely and will, of course, eventually wear the battery down. While this is happening, it is not frozen - I can still use TF3D. The only way to get the screen to go off is to do a soft reboot, after which it will perform normally (including the power booting working like it should). This happens about once a day.
This generally seems to happen when the phone is charging. When I unplug it, the bar at the top still shows the phone as connected to the power. I also notice that the battery seems a little warmer than usual at the times when charging causes this to happen.
In searching the forum I found one other user who had this issue, but did not see any fixes. Coincidentally or not, that other user was using Blackberry Connect, which I am also.
Anybody else have this problem? If so, any proposed solution?
While I am at it, I have a Blackberry Connect issue as well. The phone will periodically (usually, but not always, in the middle of the night) just stop receiving Blackberry Connect e-mails, even though everything in the Blackberry software looks normal. Again, I need to soft reboot to fix it. If anybody has experienced this or has a solution, it would be helpful also.
Thanks in advance.
my button seams to have quit working all together, soft reset doesnt help, tryed the hard reset mabe im,doing it wrong. it never ressets data basicly has the same efect as a soft reset.
not sure if its a hardware or software issue at this point. it randomly pops up the are you sure you want to quit txt.
Battory compleatly drained overnight, put it on chager and power button works again. No settings where lost that i see, kind of rules out a hardware issue.

Programmatically disable backlight

I searched around a bit for this information but all I found was the section of the registry where you can control the backlight brightness. I also tried MBVklight but that doens't seem to do the trick either.
I'm trying to turn off/on the backlight using .NET. I would imagine it requires a P/Invoke so if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I want to do this because hitting the power button disables wifi, so I want wifi to stay on but have the screen off.
Thanks in advance!
Using advanced config 3.3 you can set the wifi to stay on after hitting the power button, which is effectively what you want to do yh? It will cane your battery tho, but its useful for donloading on device
Hmm yeah that would do the trick. Thanks!
I have an old Titan that I'm no longer using so I'm turning it into a bedside alert system in case my regular phone isn't on ring and someone needs to wake me up (I'm in charge of all the servers where I work). It needs to maintain a wifi connection so it can receive the signal but it's constantly plugged in so power isn't a problem.
sorted, no problems and good idea
I installed Advanced Config 3.3 and went into Menu -> More settings -> Connections and checked "Enable Wi-Fi on standby mode" and did a soft reset but it doesn't seem to be working. If I hit the power button on the phone to enter standby the wifi light stops blinking and it stops receiving connections. Is there another setting I'm missing?
mm let me try on mine, ill get back to you.......
Any luck? It's not really a big deal since I modified my application to be full screen with a black background so it would be doing minimal burn in, but I'd still prefer if it was fully off.

Screen Not Timing Out...I know why, but need help.

I have identified the culprit, but I have not been able to find a solution.
As I said, my screen will not timeout. I have to manually hit the lock button to turn the screen off. Also, the softkeys stay lit. I started going through app settings, etc. No luck. I began to notice after reboots and battery pulls that it only started occuring after I entered mode (*#0011#) to fix the wifi disconnect issue.
After doing that, the screen will no longer timeout. So, at this point, I either have to deal with wifi turning off and on randomly, or a screen that won't go dark on its own.
Can anyone help?
