I went through a few pages of the official Sapphire porting project and didn't see a whole lot regarding the RC33 version of the radio update. I personally don't plan on ever switching over to the ported version since it's likely that we will be seeing an official version out soon enough.
So my question is to those that have flashed the new radio to RC33, have you noticed any benefits as of yet? Battery life? Signal?
For those of you that have not seen this, you can find the new radio image here:
korndub's radio update (for RC33): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zhzebmabxyn
the mediafire has been blocked from china
Do you mean the radio version of 1.22.14.11? not so stable for me, lost signal sometimes.
I guess it must be 2.22.19.23, since it's from G2
has anyone given this a shot yet?
I've installed it on my JF RC9 with Three. Seems to have a better reception, 3G speed is a tough one because the speed is always different anyway but I'm currently getting 0.7Mbit, which is the highest I've seen on the device (Never got over 0.4 before)
Havent encountered any issues yet. Will see over the next few days.

yes update and alt s
Thanks, I've been having problems connecting to the network since I flashed Haykuro 3rd build then reverted back to JF. Do you think it could be the radio that's giving me problems?
Edit
I flashed back to JF radio update and everything seems to be working fine now.

I had problems too when I flashed the JF signed Sapphire radio update. My phone never displayed 3G, it stayed stuck on E. Also, a couple people tried to call me, and said they even left a message, but when I checked my phone, no missed calls were displayed in the notification or the call log.
I dont know if it's device specific, or area specific (So Cal). Either way, even if I go to Haykuro's 5.0, I am still going to flash the original G1 radio which never gave me any issues (other than the crap battery life).
when i installed it my data and phone connection would drop every 5 minutes or so. and the data connecttion didn't always return.
Phone connection is fine for me. I don't use data(just wifi) so I can't say anything about that. The phone is taking way longer to charge though. Not sure if it will hold any longer though. I'm using adb 1.1h.
I've been losing my data connection lately with 2.22.19.23
It will go and come back 10-60mins later. It gets really annoying. but the good thing is, it did improve battery somewhat.
and edit: I used nandroid to come back to RC33 with the cupcake radio. should I go ahead and flash it RC33 radio?

I cannot recommend the Magic Radio to be run on RC at all. I can literally throw a rock from my back yard and hit a TMobile tower so I have the luxury of blazing fast 3G from my house. While running that radio on RC33 I noticed my battery drain was GOD. AWFUL. and charge time took twice as long. Also the signal quality went way down. I was a solid 1 bar and if I even thought of leaving my house I dropped down to Edge. I wasn't sure if it was the radio but the second I installed the RC33 radio my battery life instantly improved and I'm back on holy crap fast 3G.
Please note that I experienced none of these problems while running that radio on the 4.9 build. IMHO, something just isn't jiving between RC and the Magic radio but that's hardly surprising.

Strange, I went ahead and flashed just after I made this post and have had none of these issues
I had the same problem with data access amd signal dropping with the new update(2.22.19.23). i reverted to rc33 old radio(1.22.14.11) and rebooted twice and now all is fine. that new radio is unstable.

I've been back and forth from RC33 and 4.9 w/Magic radio and I can reproduce the problem every single time. Maybe it's related to my phone but to me it doesn't seem like it. Other problems included showing connected but NOTHING data working.
Dunno. Odd indeed but my troubleshooting keeps leading me to "Don't use Magic Radio on RC ROM.
I tried the magic radio this morning before I went to work... After a whole day with no connections at all, I went back to rc33 radio as soon as I got home. I thought I may have done something wrong but after seeing I am not the only one with problems, I think I will stick with rc33 for the time being
i have jf's rc33 1.43 and updated with the saphire radio. battery life seems to be shortened a bit but do find a performance increase throughout the OS. other than that, i havent experienced any of the issues others are reporting.
I've been running this new radio for a couple days now and I just have 1 strange problem.
I consistently have better 3G connection, less straight connection drops, and overall everything seems alot more responsive and just plain faster.
However...
Webpages just don't want to fully load about 75-90% of the time. I'm an avid fark.com reader and I spend a good deal of my train ride on the site and I've never had this issue with the other radios. On this new radio, when I go to the site in either Steel or Browser, I get to about 40% of the progress bar and it just stops. I've tinkered with it alot, and it's not only that 1 site.
Something isn't jiving right in RC33. I didn't run the 4.9 build long enough to notice if I experience the same problem. The no headphone support makes it not an option for me and my train rides.
I am running 4.5 build with the new radio(2. Something) and I have seen a lot of improvements with the ui, and my battery life has improved.
4.5 is very nice and I can't wait for upsates on it.

I would like to hear some stories from Tilt owners who have installed any of the WM6.1 ROMs. Good, bad, fugly!?!
I installed schaps and i cant get MMS Tried the official so they say one. Also same thing
error synchronizing.....
I installed Alex's on my Tilt. I must say it's my favorite ROM I've used so far. MUCH faster (apparently directdraw works!? Not sure if it's a hack or it works now), threaded SMS is awesome, and overall I think it's great.

His ROM comes with a Radio. TCPMP doesn't work though. Unless you go to ROM 3.02.405.0
No sound issues with that radio.
Honestly I don't think I updated the radio, I think Alex's rom came with the new radio. It's now the 1.64.06.04 radio. I was going to upgrade it to this anyway. I have zero issues with it at all. Voice is clear, signal is great and battery drain is less than before (could just be the new WM, though).
I have to admit to something, although he in not often on this site, Schaps ROM worked for me the best. I am still using the old radio 12.17 with Schaps beta 6.1. I cleaned some of the issues and installed few programs and the battery life is the best. maybe demographics or where you live in relationship to the service source has some to do with battery consumption....

Well, of course if your signal is worse, the chip has to work harder (i.e. more energy) to keep your signal. The rest has to do with ROMs and/or software telling it things like how frequently to poll for calls and things of that sort.
But it seems that WM6.1 does have better battery life (less drain). I have the new radio rom so I can't control for that, though.

I also noticed battery life is excellent with that version of the Chinese hacked BETA version build. Dutty is using the same one and the battery life is quite astounding!
The only issue I've had with non-ATT based ROMs is most don't seem to like Over-the-Air Activesync/Direct Push for some reason. They will connect fine to the server but don't consistently maintain a connection full time. Sometime I'll check the Activesync and it won't be connect and have the last successful connected date/time shown.
With the ATT based ROMs it always shows connected when I check Activesync on the device.
Other than that I've only had the standard common problems already reported like the soft-reset issue.
What about 14.09 any issues with WiMo 6.1?
I think DCS's rom has solved the soft-reset problem.
I'm on Schap's 4.31 now with 12.17 radio. Will do the upgrade soon. Only concern is do I need to install both the rom and radio at one go or can I install the os first then pick the radio afterwards?
I'm running Alex's Beta on mine.
I've been on it since yesterday, and killed my battery twice now playing with it. I've not noticed the delay in button pressing that was in all the 6.0 roms I tried.
The radio acts the same as the last radio I had (see sig)... but then I've not gone outside a 100 yard radius since I flashed the phone.
Overall, it definately seems faster to me.
As for battery.... meh. I've been using the crap outta the phone. Bluetooth calls, Bluetooth transfers, internet (over the network), wifi, games, setting the phone up, cab installs, you name it. Tomorrow I might get a better handle on how the battery acts since it will be a normal workday for me, and I'll have less time to play with it.

I did it. Got rid of the dang random hesitation when pressing a button. For that, I'm keeping it, until the next latest and greatest comes.
Sure, there are some issues. But what ROM doesn't have things you'd like to change? So you gotta hit the SR button twice to soft reset. Once you get it set up, its not like you gotta SR all the time. We're beyond 2003SE here....

I agree with you.... but we are also beyond 6.0 as well
Are you out there? Rom/radio preferences?
The optus rom is supposedly quite good if you want a fast OEM experience (there is no branding on it)
ive got the touch pro from three.
using the stock radio 1.08.25.20.
Using ROMeOS, err forget which one to be honest flashed about 10 in the first day i got it, but the one with no touch flow 3d. hated it, looked nice but so slow.
Yes we are here
I've had mine since early December.
Have been running it on the stock 3 Rom that was released in Dec with Radio 1.08.25.20. Really hated it at first as it was slower than my original Hermes.
Tweaked it up with some performance enhancements and it ran heaps better.
I tried a few of the XDA chefs cooked up roms but have not found one yet that is to my liking.
Today I have loaded Elite Rom R3 and will run this for a week or so to see how it goes.
EDIT: Also lets not get into the american fuze thing. Its a f*%#ing Touch Pro or a Raph. Why they have to re-brand everything is beyond my comprehension. No offence my US brothers but your marketing people are wankers.
Yep.. another aussie here.
3 network..
Rom version : 1.90.861.8 WWE
Radio version : 1.08.25.20
Only had it for a day or so, but i've gone through all the tweaking guides and it feels noticably quicker.
Bad news to all the aussies who have htc touch pro. I heard htc touch HD is coming!
I'm running the stock Optus 1.94.710.2 ROM with radio 1.02.25.28.
My TP came with radio 1.02.25.19 when new and I used to get one to three bars of reception inside my house.
I flashed to radio 1.02.25.28 and reception jumped to three or four (full) bars of reception! GPS reception was also improved
Since I'm on the 3 network, I then flashed to radio 1.08.25.20 because this is the radio that comes on Touch Pros bought from 3. Reception was horrible even though I thought it would be equal if not better than 1.02.25.28. I averaged one bar of reception with occasional dropouts.
Flashed straight back to radio 1.02.25.28 and reception went back to three or four bars of reception with absolutely no dropouts. I've stuck with this configuration ever since and it's been flawless.
Finally happy ?????
Had my touch pro since early august, and after countless knows how many flash's and tweaks and software upgrades and ll the numerous other things required of a touch pro owner to have a useable device, I believe i can finally say I am happyish. Have been using the PROven ROM from qsqa for some time through it's variances after trying various others and not finding them quite to my needs. Still like any ROM this is not perfect and still requires a little bit of tailoring to each individual's prefrences. Am now running radio 1.08.25.20 after upgrading from the original 3 Radio, I find it to be a great improvement especially in GPS reception, still all in all my good old Dallab DP900 and Tytn make me wonder if all the fuss is worth it, bring on the Touch HD i say

Wow you arent wrong about 1.02.25.28, heaps better signal now. im about 20 mins from Melb CBD and was only getting 1 or 2 bars on the rom it came with, now im on 3.
Whats the power usage like?
I've been upgrading for quite sometimes as well.. i got touch pro 3 days after three released it (a while ago....) as I has been hunting it for a while in Australia.
Anyhow... Proven rom is probably on my top 1 as well.. VERY FAST but at version 2.4 i found it a lil unstable so I swapped it to Energy Rom 2 righ tnow... dno't like it as much but I have to wait til next week as qsav dude broke his phone and is repairing...
I've been using Radio 1.02.25.32 for about a good month. OK reception, very poor in townhall station *sydney* but it was better than the normal 3 radio. Doesn't drain the battery as much as well.. GPS is pretty fast (don't know whether it related but worth the mention)
any aussie member know if there is anywhere that has Moto S9-HD in stock or have used one? I wanna know if the call reception any good eg. in train or buses or walking along the street....

Besides the 1.5.6 RUU, there is no other way to go back correct?
There is a stock radio.zip posted on the forum (instead of using RUU) but it is also iffy. It still has a 50/50 chance of a bricking.

I had a good signal before (cant really tell a difference), but my battery life is greatly improved.
i was also good on the previous radio but just figured it was something they add in the official update so i did it anyway and i used to NEVER get 3g at my desk at work and it would kill my battery going in and out of service for 8 hours straight let alone me playin with my phone but since the new radio its sits at 3g the whole day and i have way more battery when im off work..
I have had nothing but problems with the new radio. I pushed a new PRL to it and still couldn't get a decent signal. I used to get 3 out of 5 bars -70db on the old radio, and now I cant get more than -90db. My Pre still gets almost perfect signal in my house and my Hero is now unusable. I applaud everyone's efforts in making the most of our Heros, but I sure hope a new radio comes out soon!
which of the 2 new radios should we use?
I really cant get a solid answer.

I wanted to thank the developers of MR3 in this thread. Liquid, Jester, etc.
I'm a long time lurker of this forum since I got my Thunderbolt. I'm VERY VERY appreciative of the developers for creating a very functional ICS rom for the Thunderbolt. Shame on HTC and Verizon for sandbagging so long with what should be a very simple upgrade for them. I was running Thundershed for awhile but grew tired of the Gingerbread look and feel of Android. My friends all mostly have newer phones with ICS, and I couldn't believe that it was supposed to be out in August and it's now mid-October and it's still not out.
To my surprise, I log on to here and see that an ICS ROM had been released.
My only issues with this ROM are random restarts and the white screen error in Facebook/Gmail/etc. I don't really use the video camera much in general; could you use an aftermarket app, or is it broken period?
Otherwise, I absolutely LOVE this and will never go back to Verizon's bloated software. Even when an OTA is released with ICS I won't go back. My phone is running much faster and much better than with Sense and Gingerbread. With data off I had a 10% decrease in battery in 7 hours; with data on and normal use I'll get maybe 5 hours out of a charge on this ROM. About normal for this phone and it's absolutely terrible battery life with the stock battery.
I have it overclocked to 1.5ghz running interactiveX as my governor. It runs beautifully, other than those two minor issues I pointed out above. I haven't experienced any data drops or anything out of the sort like that.

The video and front camera are broken even with an aftermarket app and will remain broken, most likely, until Verizon releases the OTA. From the OTA, our awesome developers will then be able to fix camera issues and many other issues that will make their ROM's 100% stable.
Also, if you get random reboots, you may want to flash to a different radio.
If you are currently running the OTA radios from the 2.11.605.19 software and still get these reboots, try flashing the combo radio and hopefully the reboots will vanish or, at least, happen less often.
If you go to your settings, about phone, software information, more, and look at the baseband version...
If the numbers you see are:
1.49.00.0406w_1, 0.01.79.0331w_1
Then you are on the OTA 2.11.605.19 radios, which is my recommendation for the radios to use with this ROM. If these are the radio numbers you see, try the combo radio. If the numbers you see under your phones baseband version is not:
1.49.00.0406w_1, 0.01.79.0331w_1
Then it may be:
1.48.00.0930w_3, 0.01.78.0916w_3
If it is:
1.48.00.0930w_3, 0.01.78.0916w_3
Try flashing the 2.11.605.19 OTA radios found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605557
If you have the 2.11.605.19 radios, though, try flashing the combo radio found here:

Definitely want to ditto this thread. Thanks for continuing to support the Thunderbolt. I was on the verge of retiring the Thunderbolt. ICS has brought new the Tbolt new life though!
thanks for the links. I'm going to try upgrading tonight and see if that helps. I notice you flash the radio in hboot. If I do a nandroid backup, does it also backup the radio (so I can restore it)? Or if I **** up, will it be permanently bricked?
Ditto to all that has been said. Thank You to all who made this happen, including HTC and Verizon. Their inaction drove me to decide to root and find alternatives. I've been incredibly pleased with MR3.
Thanks all!

If you backup that ROM after flashing the radio, it will back up the ROM. Hboot is a whole different thing than the recovery. That radio is downloaded to the phone and will automatically run on any ROM after its downloaded, even if you start from scratch. But flashing any of those two radios will not brick you on any ROM. Worst case being you won't have signal or data until you flash different radios again.
Say if you upgraded to the newer radios, and then you flash a ROM based on an older software version, you won't brick. In fact, you may not ever experience any issues. Maybe just signal changes or random signal drops.
But no, it won't brick you. It's almost impossible to brick a Thunderbolt.
I recommend after flashing the new radios, immediately go and either change the name from PG05IMG to something custom, move into a different folder that's off of the root of the SD card, or just delete it once flashed.
This is for in a such case where you need to get back into recovery from hboot, it won't prompt you to install the radio again. Because if you had to get into recovery from hboot, it wouldn't allow you to since it runs a check for the PG05IMG files first... and with that being said... I was always told to never flash the same radio twice without changing to a new one first.

i dont' see why these ROMs get so much acclaim... when i tried LiquidSmooth it wouldn't stay connected to the Internet. tried to toggle wifi and 3G/4G. nothing works and i have to reboot the phone every time i want to use the Internet.
Liquid MR3: the setup crashed and now the ROM won't even come all the way up...
unless my phone's broken or something (going to Verizon tomorrow to reflash and check it), i say they're both absolute garbage. i've had much better luck with ROMs on other phones.

Back up 9 posts and you'll see a link to a video tutorial on how to flash a different radio. You'll even see 2 links to 2 different radios to flash and try.

well i reflashed Liquid this morning and it didn't crash this time, connected fine via wifi and setup completed properly.
all of my radio issues were on the old version (not sure if there's a difference in radios or whatnot), but if it acts up again i will try your recommendations. thanks a lot.

ah i see what happened now.
the first time i flashed it, i cleared /data after the flash before i brought the OS up, but you've included the launcher as a user app and not a system app. was this intentional? a user could easily screw up by uninstalling the launcher and have no way to interact with the OS. shouldn't there be a default launcher embedded in the system programs?
i'm an Android dev, but my understanding of system development is limited, but if i'm not mistaken, any Android ROM should come with a default launcher that is not uninstallable and has no icon as a backup launcher just in case.
He did install it that way so if the user wants to install their own launcher and remove the default. Its simple to make the new one a system app. All that has to be done is move the apk to /system and it is uninstallable.

Hello guys, I've been having problems with my One S and i hope you can help me out.
I noticed lately that the signal has gotten A LOT worse than what it used to be. Its sort of on and off. Most of the time is gets bad and I have little to no bars, even in places where i used to get full reception. This is really becoming an issue, as T-Mobile coverage in my area is already bad enough.
I am running the latest version of the PAC Man ROM, though i don't think it's relevant since this was going on before i flashed it a few days ago. I did a search to see if i could flash another radio, but found nothing.
My second issue is my battery life. I went through the trouble of updating my hboot so i could run the latest version of my ROM that included the new 3.4 Kernel. I noticed ever since i flashed it, my battery life has been terrible. I know this is a known issue, but i don't run CM10 so i can't flash the nightlys that are supposed to fix it. Can anyone recommend a kernel?
here is the ROM I'm currently running: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164406
Thanks
