I'm having a bunch of problems so hopefully somebody can help. IN DIRE NEED. - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

1st off..
I'm using the 3/3/09 RevRom with Radio 1.65.28.25 and Hard SPL 1.0 on an ATT Tilt. I was getting horrible call quality so I'm trying to switch to a new radio.
Well I tried using the Kaiser Custom RUU to flash a new radio but I can't get an Activesync connection and my computer(Windows running Vista 32). So I tried toggling the activesync USB settings and the advanced network functionality settings. Didn't work. But even though the computer won't recognize my phone it will still charge it via the USB connection. My computer will even make a little ding sound that lets me know the phone is connected but it will say "USB Device Not Recognized". So flashing the new radio and Hard SPL 3.29 didn't work via USB. I've been through 20 plus threads on XDA trying various things for the past 3 hours and nothing has worked. Still no USB connection.
Alright, so then I figured I'd just flash a new radio via MicroSD. I read the Wiki, then reformatted my storage card to FAT 32. I download the .nbh files through Opera on my phone, then I saved them to my storage card. I tried flashing radio 3.29 via SD and after the Bootloader screen popped up it said "Image File Not Read". This after following all the steps in the wiki.
So then I tried flashing Hard SPL 3.29 via SD. I copied the files to my storage card and deleted the other ones. Brought up the bootloader screen and it still says "Image file not read"
So can anybody help me fix either problem? If I can figure out a way to fix my USB connection then I don't care about having to flash via SD. And if I can figure a way to flash via SD then I don't have to worry about the USB connection.
Sorry for the long post. And sorry to sound all noobish, but I really need some help. Thanks in advance.

why didn't you just ask here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499499 in the thread you started instead of starting ANOTHER new thread?
edit: we have way to many people starting new threads just because they are having troubles

Wow. That really helps me a lot. Thank you.
I just changed that thread to Delete. There's no need to get all snarky and pompous about it. If you don't want to help that's fine. But your condescending attitude isn't helping anything.
I should've known there was going to be somebody to come and give me some snide comment about starting a new thread. It's just the internet and it's just a message board. It's not that serious. Calm down.

YOU screwed up your phone, you're the one in DIRE need of help.
msd is a helpful and respected member of this forum , who was merely trying to guide into the best postion to get help fixing the phone YOU hosed.
But with that attitude .....have fun fixing your own phone.

When people ask for help and then decide to throw a wobbly, nothing more can be done but to leave them to there own game, this is no exception to that rule.......
Sit's and watches the popcorn fly

My Two Cents
Whew! I dunno about all the bickering about posts and such but 3've found that the file name on the root of the storage card is very important. Did you name the KAISIMG.nbh? I have received that message when I've tried to change the filename with File Explorer. FIle explorer dometimes hides the extension so if you rename ur ruu_image file as KAISIMG.nbh yu might really have named it KAISIMG.nbh.nbh. It won't recognize it and say image not found. Hope that helps!
PS When asking for help you might want to try some humility. May be just a forum to you but people take this seriously and help for free most times. Respect that.

how do i flash this thing. what program do i need to do it. I have found out that it is a Himalaya link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Himalaya.
thanks

OK, i don't have a Himalaya or a 2003 device, but,
download the original ROM from whoever sold you the phone, flash that to get back to a working phone. no programme required, just dl and run it, then read everything in

don't do anything until you fully understand what you are doing and why

Error 260 when upgrading

First off, I have read every thread mentioning error 260, every wiki about upgrading, and have not been able to fix my problem.
I am trying to upgrade to Schap's newest 6.0 ROM, not the 6.1. I currently have the OEM 5.0 ROM that came on the device from AT&T. I can connect via activesync perfectly. No issues there at all. When I run the upgrade program, it gets all the way to the status bar showing 0% or 1%, then the phone and computer disconnect the activesync connection, the phone goes back to the today screen, and my computer shows error 260.
I have seen posts saying I need to install HardSPL. I tried that and get error 260 there also.
I have seen posts about installing JumpSPL, I tried that and it only locks the phone up. I must do a soft reset to bring it back to life.
I found the instructions on upgrading the ROM via the SD card. I followed those and renamed the .nbh file and copied it to the fat32 formatted sd card in the phone. Where do the rest of the files go??? The .nbh file cannot possibly contain the entire rom, right? The instructions leave that part out from what I can see.
Help!
u have the at&t OEM 5.0 rom?? are u sure u are in the right device forum?
and yes the nbh file contains the whole rom

Installing HardSPL is not optional...it is a requirement. This is what allows a non-factory ROM to be installed on the phone. If it's a Tilt, there have been all sorts of issues with HardSPL installing on different Tilt revisions (most of which have been fixed, I believe). Go directly to the stickies. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Once you have HardSPL on your phone...DO NOT FLASH THE ROM YET. Go directly to the Wiki for the Tilt. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Why? Because if you weren't aware that you absolutely positively MUST have HardSPL installed before trying to flash a ROM...you haven't read enough. Sorry if I sound like I'm being short with you...I'm really not. I'm just trying to keep you from bricking your phone.
Edit: oh...good catch XtreMe...didn't even register the 5.0 reference when I read that...perhaps a Hermes (or rather...Cingular 8525)?
ah ha! Wrong forum. I started in the Hermes thread, and through all my searching must have ended up in the Kaiser thread. Sorry! I will repost over there.
Happened to me a few times and some posts said to turn off the firewall.
After some testing I found a change which allowed a USB connection to my Kaiser.
Make sure your firewall allows the application "wcescomm.exe" to have full access via your firewall.
This applies to application based firewalls like McAfee. For port based firewalls you will need to find out the ports used for inbound and outbound comms.
That I cannot help with.
Hope that helps you.
Also you may need to run as either a superuser or administrator under Windows. I run my machine as a restricted user and I got the same error.

Help With Updating Kaiser Rom. Error 262

Hi All,
I have been searching and not able to find a solution that works with the problem i am having upgrading my rom.
I was trying to upgrade to either or L26_KaiserTouch_V1M2D.rar or L26KDV12_Full.rar
roms, and after unpacking, running the utilities i keep hitting the same wall.
I have two pcs i have tried on, a laptop and a desktop both running xp.
Uninstalled active sync reinstalled etc etc
even tried the hard spl after using MTTY to try and solve the problem.
I still get error 262, even with hard spl which runs a different rom update.
tried different usb ports, unplugged most devices to the basics, restarts etc make no change to it.
Then i tried a fat32 micro sd card with the rom named as KAISIMG.nbh
and after using MTTY as listed by Laurentius26, it will show loading but not just sits there for more than 10 mins!
Hopefully someone can come up with a solution or has had the same probs.
As you could probably imagine i have a moderate grasp of this kinda stuff but i think its now beggining to drive me crazy!
Cheers,
Nathan

you have already Hspl 3.29 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396922
also if you don't have WWE phone.. (English language)
you must unlock your phone with this steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361236
and on activesync settings you must check usb connecting..
try the usb from your mouse to see if working...
good luck
also try AthineOS Manila Edition Rom hehehehe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435345
Had a go at putting on Hardspl 3.56 also 3.29. even the forced Usb versions.
I can update to any standard Kaiser/Tytn2 Rom but any of these other cooked roms seem to give me grief.
I even thought perhaps i could run the other original rom update, so i did that and copied the different Nbh files in and renamed to what the original rom was but it still wouldn't allow me to get to where i wanted to get.
Is there any special way i can get Hardspl onto my device?
Can i copy it to the sd card and load it thru a bootloader?
This error 262 is driving me nuts!
I spent well over 4 hours of constant messing about and testing any possible solutions.
plus a further 2 today!
This is my last resort!
I'll be more than happy to donate to these rom developers once i get one working.
Even attempted the manilla AthineOS without luck.
I keep reading about the JumpSPL and SSPL, is anyone able to explain or link to where i can get it for the Kaiser ?
OR is it the same thru the whole series ?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
There is SOOO much to learn!
The more you know the more you realise you dont know!!
Use jump spl first, I reccomend 1.56, then install your spl of choice, I personally use 3.56
Place jump spl on your phone and run it from the phone, keeping your usb cord attached, you will get a tri colored screen. Now in active sync comm settings uncheck allow usb commections. unplug the usb cord wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. then from your pc open the folder hard spl and run kaiserRUU and after its done go back to active sync allow usb connections and flash your ass off.
Woo Hoo!!
Finally i got it working, I was beggining to think perhaps there was something stupidly wrong with my pc or the Tytn!
Thank you very much for your reply KD8DNS, Also thanks to b16b After so many hours of mucking round i've finally got it sorted!
Now running Kaiser Diamond V12, it works very well.
Will be looking to change to many other roms in the near future!
Cheers,
Nathan

Please Help Me With the Bootloading screen?

I followed all of the steps to flash a new ROM into my tilt. I attempted to install a hard SPL 1.93, but it stuck me at the bootloading screen. I can't active sync because im at the screen and it wont let me. I tried the program mtty, but i cant get it to work because it wont register. it says...:
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.93.0000
CPLD-8
I know i'll probably get banned from the forums, but I'm just hoping someone can give me a quick answer. I appreciate the help.
never heard of that HardSPL, only 3 versions.
Go grab a proper HardSPL (I recommend 3.29) and see if you can flash that, but you should properly study first.
Also, please read the Flashing For Noobs section and DO NOT MAKE NEW THREADS FOR COMMON PROBLEMS

ok try this just plug your phone up to the usb cable and flash a stock rom. Dont worry about the sync your phone wont sync to your pc when in bootloader. Only a stock rom DONT flash a custom rom. After you flash the stock rom you should be able to start over. I hope that this helps
sorry to sound like a newb but how would I go about doing that? I have it downloaded.. and I ran it on my computer? now what?

[Q]Fuze undetected on any PC, just charges

I am in deep trouble here and could really use some help please. My ATT Fuze is not being detected by any PC and i have tried everything from different wires to changing everything on the fuze it self. Now my only option is to exchange it but i don't have the original OS because i am using NRGs Rom and hard SPL it about 4 months ago. Now to my question, is there anyway i can revert it to stock ROM and SPL with micro sdhc card? I need some steps please because i cant find a way to do it. Would i have to change the OS and the SPL to return if there is anyway please let me know.

First, what OS are you running on your PC.
Second, have you disabled/Enabled "enable faster data" in Settings/Connections/USB to PC?
Third, Have you deleted the partnership and tried to reestablish it?
Doesn't seem to be a warranty issue.
Fuze Reply
First of all thanks for your reply.
I have tried it on 4 different computer but unfortunately same result on vista and XP, on my phone i am using NRG july version rom.
I have disabled and enabled faster data in but doesn't seem to matter.
I tried everything, i reinstalled windows mobile device but doesn't seem to matter. When i ended the partnership it wasnt being detected after it or before it.
Cant i exchange it because its a faulty phone? Also can u please tell me if i can revert it to att stock rom and spl with a micro sdcard because i am going to buy a card reader. I really don't want to toss this phone and waste all that money please help!

Yes, you can revert via SD card.
Do Radio and ROM first, then do stock SPL last.
Rename each RAPHIMG.NBH (one at a time) on a FAT32 formated card 2gb or smaller.
Go into bootloader mode and it should flash from there.
I would test your USB connection after you flash back to stock ROM before you flash the stock SPL to see if it may have fixed your issue.
Huh
Thanks a lot man!
Now the hard part , why do u say a card 2gb or smaller?
So i can revort the SPL with a micro sdhc card also? can u tell me where i can find this stuff, i am really sorry for the trouble and would really appreciate it if you can tell me step by step because i am a noob
Hopefully ATT exchange it for the usb issues , gotta check with them after this. Thanks

I've heard that anything over 2 gb will cause an issue but I have done it from an 8gb card.
Start here for issues encountered.
Basically once you find your ROM Radio and SPL, extract the files so you can see the .NBH files for each.
1. Take the ROM file and rename it "RAPHIMG.nbh " without quotes.
2. Place it in the root of your storage card and enter bootloader mode (Volume Down + Reset), the phone will read the image file and begin to load it.
Do this for each file but wait until the first file has loaded.
Radio.nbh will be renamed to RAPHIMG.nbh
SPL.nbh will be renamed RAPHIMG.nbh
As one is done loading, remove it from starage card and put the next one on and repeat step 2.
Another thread regarding SPL.
I hope this helps you and sorry I don't have the time to walk you through it.
Just read first then you'll know what to expect.

my best guess is just in case the bootloader doesn't have drivers for SDHC cards... my x51v has drivers for SDHC in WM, but flashing requires SD cards because the bootloader doesn't read SDHC
revert SPL or no?
Hey thanks bruce!
One more question, should i revert the SPL even tho i changed the radio and os. When i go to ROM version it says 1.95 but is that the SPL? Also you think ATT will take the phone back with the phone not syncing reason or do i have to make up some other stuff up? O btw the 8gb kingston card worked fine for reverting it and it still doesnt detect the phone

To be safe I would revert the SPL as well.
The 1.95 is the ROM build base.
You want to revert back to stock SPL 1.90.
I can't second guess what AT&T will cover or not but you may want to "further your cause"....
Best of luck!!!
in my experience (my UK t-mob vario is back at repair right now) - DONT revert the SPL if you cant do it from the USB.
Obvisously you have a different setup to me, but when i tried to revert my phone to stock for exactly the same fault (no usb sync, regardless of pc or cable / phone rom, state etc etc) i managed to get the phone to refuse to boot due to a spl / rom difference. As i couldnt load from usb - i couldnt flash anything new, and as i had managed to overwrite hard spl - i couldnt flash what i wanted from the SD card! (if i could get the usb to work, i could fix it all - but as that was the problem i had to send it off fubar)
For some reason (god knows why!) it appears that t-mob are repairing my phone under warrenty despite the spl error but i wouldnt advise getting yourself in the same situation, as i was 100% expecting it to come straight back to me!
My personal advice is send it off with the correct rom, radio & splash screens (and remove security unlock if required) so the phone looks stock - the only difference will be the spl version. They probably wont notice!
1.90 or 1.95
Thx for the info guys, my new phone is coming and it took me about 2 to finally on its way. About the SPL, mine says 1.90 and that was when i first did the hard spl to change roms. What is the stock SPL 1.90 or 1.95? at loading it hows me 1.90 olinex i think...also i can change it if needed with my 8gb sdhc card or no?
I had a problem with my PC not detecting my fuze a few weeks ago. I found out it was my new firewall blocking the connection. I disabled the firewall and it worked like normal.
If it were me i would try to connect again after you flash the stock rom. If there was something wrong with the usb it still wont work. If it connects to activesync the maybe it was your ROM, or something else.
Just a suggestion
