Hello,
I'm on the Orange UK network; and since upgrading to WM6 on my Wizard, I've had some contacts that are preset by the network shoved down my throat, that clog up the Contacts list. They include "Answer Phone", "Account", "Cust Service", and more. How would one rid themselves of these pesky additions?
have u looked under "Fixed Dialing"? that setting should be on your phone. have a look around under "Phone Options" and delete them if necessary.
some numbers may have been placed on that list.
The fixed dialing list i believe is actually stored on the SIM card.
hope that helps you out.

Hi!
I had the need to drop a friend's SIM into my Treo 750 in order to access some numbers stored on it. Sadly she had voicemails waiting to be listened to on her account, which generated the voicemail icon on the top line of the Treo together with the "Voicemail" soft-button.
Now I've gone back to my own SIM and they're still there! Even a soft-reset doesn't remove them. I've tried selecting "Voicemail > Listen" many times without success.
Is there a registry key I can clear which tells the Treo I've no voicemails?
TIA,
Steve

What you can try is calling your phone from another phone and leaving another voicemail message. Then from your phone, call and erase it. After you erase it, don't hang up - just press ** and it will hang up for you.
This has worked for me in the past.
If not, you might have to hard reset the phone. Its not that bad, I have done it twice.
Anyone knows what I can do to update the numbers to match the contact it was assigned under? I deleted an activesync profile on my phone, and then restored it with another laptop, and now my call history is full of numbers without any names. Help? Soft resetting didn't do anything...
Try installing "Advanced Config" (www.touchxperience.com). There's a setting under 'Phone' that reads 'Call ID match'. Set this to the "last x numbers that is used in matching contact with phone number". I.e. in the netherlands we have these formats:
+31xxxxxxxxx
0xxxxxxxxx
(the last 9 are always the same), so for Holland you put this value to 9.

It's 8 for mine. But it's already defaulted to 8, and the call history is still not updated.
yeah same here, pre set to 8 but just numbers and not contacts (except for 1 call has a name)
I Have the same issue, 8 doesn't work, nor does 9....
I have altered the sample sms-numbers to have only numbers, no spaces, but still, no luck...
Does anyone have a solution yet?
Could it be that you have duplicate contacts, ie. the same numbers in 2 contacts?
Not the Cell Phone numbers, but yes on home phone number (I actually share my home phone with my wife, so that number is in two contacts, yes )
For some reason I received an sms of my wife this morning, and now I did get a name, so it appears to be a solution on new messages only... Hopefully it is now solved for all the messages...
Same issue here, although mine was caused by some messing around I was doing with the contacts.
Call history had names and numbers to begin with.
I synced the contacts with my work computer to mess with them.
I synced them back to the phone.
I backed up the contacts with PIMBackup.
I removed the option to sync contacts in ActiveSync (which removes the synced contacts from the phone).
I restored the contacts with PIMBackup.
Existing call history now only has numbers, but new calls have names.
Anyone know of a way to update the existing call history to show the names?

Is there a way to disable the "add to contacts" pop-up the occurs when a call is ended with a party whos phone number not currently in contacts? I called my help desk and they said sure, just select the automatic add to contact selection in phone options and volia no more pop-up, I said thanks but I don't want to have every telemarketer and political call phone mill stored as contacts.
I hunted around in the registry and found "currentuser\controlpanel\phone\storecontact" This looks like it could be it, but I can not find any info that confirms after searching.
Can anyone help, will this key do the trick and what should I change the setting to?
Thanks!

So my contacts list is behaving strangely on my S3, I'm curious if you guys have run into this problem before.
Basically I'm looking for a person, for instance the name "Jean". This contact is stored on my google account (not on the phone.)
When I scroll through my contacts list, I don't see the contact at all. But when I use "Find Contacts" up above, I find "Jean" just fine.
I have a phone number filled out for this contact, and other contacts that are stored on my google account comes up just fine. It's just this one contact doesn't show up in the overall list.
Any ideas??
I figured it out.
Looks like I had to go into google.com/contacts and actually select the missing contact, then label them with the "My Contacts" label. Really strange that the phone doesn't just automatically pick up everyone up, and only people labeled as "My Contacts".
I hope this helps someone else out!
I would try going to the contacts app the hit menu then "contacts to display" and see if some of the options are disabled.

I tired that, I made sure to select "All Contacts" under the "Contacts to Display" menu. What the phone does is display only the google contacts labeled as "My Contacts". It still stores all of the other google contacts, but just doesn't display them until you actually go searching for them.
Got a weird one here for you guys. My ATT Note 8 will not display the contact information when someone calls. If I do not answer the phone it will display a notification that I missed a call from that person (displaying the name). I have checked everything I can think of.
I've tried rebooting and toggling "only display contacts w/ names" (was recommended from a Google search). When it is paired to my company truck it displays the names on the radio as normal but only the number is displayed on the phone. I cleared the cache and data from my Google account. Removed the Google account and redone it. Toggled everything possible in the dialer settings.
When ringing it displays only the number with a button below it that says "add to contacts" but when you go to call history it displays the correct contact information.
The only thing I have not done, yet, is a factory reset.
Anyone had this issue or know how to fix it?
Anyone?
I've had the same issue.... Hope we can find a fix....
Have y'all tried the settings in the phone app (green phone icon)? There's a setting under "other settings" that says show contact info. Mine was on by default so I i don't know why it would be turned off.
Hope this help
Had a same issue. i am from India and i deleted the vodafone applications and boom it was solved.
could be similar issue. go to any phone number in your contacts and see which apps have use the permission and try deleting those apps.
