Hi all,
I tried almost everything but I cannot connect to my exchange account. With our IT we enabled OMA, OWA also, I installed the self-signed certificate on my Touch Pro, tried with and without SSL, erased the account on the device to create it from scratch, read all the posts, googled and tried what suggested but still get connecting for a while and then Error Synchronizing (built-in e-mail client), when I switch to active sync and view status I get "Synchronization couldn't be completed. Try again later" and Support code says 0x80072F17 (certificate related). WHen I set up my iPhone with the account details I sync without problem all the mails with subfolders...Any help?

i had the same problem and later i realized that there two different reasons for this problem. but before i can help i need to know two things. 1st what rom and build version r u using? 2nd what version of htcalbum r u using?
Thank you for the quick rsponse, I hope you can help me. The ROM version is 1.90.401.1 WWE, Radio 1.02.25.19, as for album I have the version that was originally distributed (I could find any version number), BTW it is very slow on loading.

then i don't know, my problem had to do with a cooked rom and after upgrading to htcalbum 2.5, sorry
Make sure you have the correct root certificate as well. Im using a free ssl cert from Startcom and I have to have both the Intermediate and Root certs installed for it to work because by default the root cert isnt there. You can check this out by Start > Settings > Certificates.
Ren13B I have just intermediate cert installed, the one that OWA is using, self-signed. Can you tell me more about how to make it appear in ROOT tab?

The fastest way I've seen to do this is search for a Microsoft tool called "SSLChainSaver". There are instructions on the site for using it, but the short form is:
Code:
sslchainsaver.exe [I]<exchange hostname>[/I]
This creates a directory with the certificates, and also creates two XML files containing the full certificate chain, one for Windows Mobile 5, and one for WinMo 6.
Find the XML file you want (<exch. server>.wm6.xml, probably), copy to _setup.xml, and make it a .CAB file:
Code:
copy exchserver.wm6.xml _setup.xml
makecab certs.cab _setup.xml
This creates a .CAB file you can download directly to your phone containing all the necessary SSL certificates for your server.
Hope that helps...
It seems there is something wrong with our OWA certificate, I found out that issuer has to be same as subject which is not, so even the tool work smoothly it could not get the root cert...Strange that iPhone has no problem with that but WM6 does:-(

Hi Folks,
first thanks for the new rom. Here my experiences/questions.
First of all, the installation went quite smooth.
I am experiencing the following problems:
1) when starting the device I get the message the file screenrotate.exe cannot be opended. Ehter it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. Same for sms_alert_fix.exe
2) phone link at the left bottom of the screen results in Shortcut Target Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename
3) active sync with sbs2003 exchange and own certification authority results in The security certificate on the server is invalid. Contact you exchange server administrator or isp to install a valid vertificate on the server Support code: 0x0072F0D. I have downloaded the CA certificate as a file certnew.cer, copied it over to WM2005 and installed it. It is availiable under settings - certificates - root
4) Start - programs is has corrupted programs IA Album, IA Camera, xBackup
Any ideas how to work on these problems?
Tnx
What is the exactly name of the rom file you have downloaded to flash your device ?
XDA2_WM2k5_1.70a.96.WWE.zip ??? if this , it is a corrupted rom ...
try to flash http://tofclock33.free.fr/rom/Wm2k5_170.zip
Downloaded your link and still the same.....
OK, my mistake.
Did not read the installation instruction up to the end.
after modifying the boot options it appears that point 1,2 and 4 are solved.
But there is still the active sync problem.
OK, my mistake.
Did not read the installation instruction up to the end.

But there is still the active sync problem.
Changed HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001017 from 128 to 144
My Domain runs its own CA. So I went to
http://<certserver>/certsrv and downloaded "Download CA certificate", copied it over to XDA and doubleclicked on it.
I can see it now in the certificates
If I manually go to OWA using internet explorer I receive the message "The certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust"
How can I trust it?
XDA2_WM2k5_1.70a.96.WWE.zip ??? if this , it is a corrupted rom ...
I have used the above file from day 1 and it was not corrupt!!!
OK, sorted out my last issue as well.
Besides installing the CA-Certificate I needed to install the Server Certificate as well.
This could be done by opening MMC, adding the Certificates snapin for local machine and exporting under personal certificates the servers certificate.
Copy the export to MMC and doubleclick on it. That's it.
i installed the wm2k5_170.zip
but have problems..
when trying to install any program..
most of the programs needs to be installed to local, but it seems i have 6 mb memory after installing the rom..
i have 32 mb storage memory and 1gb sdram.. but for example pocket plus wants to install itself to device memory.. and when trys to install it says that i dont have enough space..
A slightly strange ugrade problem
TofClock - thanks for the 1.65 and 1.70 upgrades. I've had a weird problem that's stopped me performing the upgrade. I thought I'd ask if it's something specific to your upgrades or some other problem:
I've got Buzz's 1.60c.00 with his 96Mb RAM disk on my Humalaya and it works like a charm. However, when I tried the 1.65 and 1.70 upgrades HimaUpgradeUt.exe failed both times with Error 101 - connection error. But my Himalaya IS securely in its cradle and seems to be communicating properly with the PC: ActiveSync, for example, seems to work perfectly.
The cradle is connected directly to a USB port on my PC and not through a hub, so I'm at a loss what's causing the problem.
Has anyone else had the same experience?
I have got
rom version: 2.06.00WWE
Rom date: 06/14/04
radio version: 1.18.00
protocol version: 1337.38
extended ROM version: xda2jopjo.v3.2zs
When upgraded to xda2jopjo.v3.2zs I had no problems. When I loaded xda2jopjo.v3.2zs it did tell me the all the information under "your Pocket PC software is about update from:", and then it loaded properly. However, with every version of 2005 it gives me none of the information on what I am updating from, and the only information he gives me I'm updating to is "ce image version: 1.70a.96.
And when I click on the upgrade button anyway it does try to upgrade, there is even some activity on the xda, but every time after about 10 minutes it tells me "the current software is now being erased from your PC", it tries a little longer and then tells me "there has been a problem while updating your pocket PC software. To continue the update please:
1 disconnect your Pocket PC and the USB cradle.
2 preform a normal reset by pressing the reset button as picture left show.
3 reconnect your Pocket PC and the USB cradle and run this pocket PC software update program again.
I've tried this several times, but it hasn't worked.
Can anybody help?

Here is a fix for the WIFI issue!
Enjoy all.

You must copy wzcsvc.dll to your \windows folder
You can't do that in your PDA.
1- Turn-off wifi, then soft-reset your PDA
2- Connect to your PC via activesync
3- Copy wzcsvc.dll from PC to \windows folder of PDA via ActiveSync's explorer.

Removed as per "vagus_ppcw" request!
I tried it and it did not work for me... After aktivating Wifi nothing happened... Maybe cause it is for X51 from Dell not the Universal.
Works 100% for me.

it is version build 18159, not a lastest 18508, and i checked 18159, it is not very stable!
Please be smart and get this update for you all Universal users.
Read my first post at ppcw carefully.
Look at your device.exe with sktools. Probably you must sign with another trusted certificate the wzcsvc.dll
This is unsigned module that i extracted from your (Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.02.02 WWE)
http://rapidshare.com/files/59152817/wzcsvc.dll.rar.html
Maybe you could inject this module for your future releases
Find a way to load it by your device.exe
I signed it with "Sample Privileged Root for Windows Mobile SDK"
and this is signed with "Smartphone 2003 Privileged Test Signing Authority"

wzcsvc,dll
I will certainly have a try
It's a module you are talking about yes, and it exist in SYS\OS of my latest build. I will try to replace and see what happens!
Thank you!

I will flash ROM default again and try to replace dll in windir.

Hi guys,
I've tried the jwrigthchmps module myself yesterday but no luck. Wifi would not connect, even with WEP encryption. I got the same result with a version of the module lifted from Athena.
I'm very interested in this business of signing modules though.
If the module in question is signed to work with the older device.exe in jwrightchmps, is there a way to re-sign it for 5.2.1908's device.exe? Or better still way to tell device.exe to ignore signiatures altogether?
So actually wlan works with changed module but no luck with connecting?

Can someone explain how to do this?
I try to copy wzcsvc.dll to my windows directory with resco explorer and with
ActiveSync (In Vista this is Mobile3 Device Center), and it is still
saying that this file can't be overwritten.... I can't even make copy
of my original file...
I also can't work out how to do this. I can't copy this file to /Windows with ActiveSync (4.5) as I get a "Cannot copy wzcsvc: Access is denied" message, and on the device itself Resco won't let me delete, move or rename the file, or even unset its read-only flag. Any ideas?
-edit-
OK, it turns out Resco WILL actually let me replace the file, but ActiveSync won't (even AFTER it's been overwritten).
Seems to work flawlessly for me so far, WiFi connects 1st time, and can be turned off and on as you like with no problems. Thanks very much to vagus_ppcw and Drongo, looks like this is a must-have for all current WM6 roms.
It wrecked my Wifi in PDAViet 2.11.14.
I'll need a reinstall of the latest PDAViet or an original wzcsvc.dll to get it working I guess, 'cause with this fix Wifi doesn't work at all.
You cannot lost original wzcsvc.dll because it is in the ROM.
if you want to re-appear it :
rename wzcsvc.dll to x.dll (this will rename your copied file)
now you can delete x.dll ( a soft reset maybe needed before or after this procedure)

if it is not working for you, probably your ROM cooker did not include
"Sample Privileged Root for Windows Mobile SDK" certificate in this wm6 ROM.
dll files must be signed by a trusted certificate to be able to load by device.exe
To be able to use a signed file, you must have a proper certificate in your PDA.

can anybody help me how to install some certificates? I need one to connect to the wifi in my school.. I tried make a cab but it do not works..
Copy the certificate file to your device, open file explorer and click the file You should see message "Certificates were installed"... I think that's all, at least that's how it worked for me
It does not work for me .. I have tried it.. It says it can not open such file
Try using .cer files. If your school doesn't have those, try googling some converter from other formats to .cer
thank you a lot..it worked...don´t you know how should I use this certificate when I´am logging in to the wifi in school?
just turn on Wi-Fi and follow the instructions on screen. You will just have to choose correct encryption type, input username and password and then it will automatically use installed certificate to ensure that the connection is secure.

Hi, why do you think your own certificate will help?
GNAngent.exe is part of Google Navigator, maybe uninstalling (or reinstalling) it will solve your problems as well.
Anyway, here is a mention how to install self-signed cert: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281723
You can also try DisableCertChk utility.
Hi All,
1st of all i would like to say that i am really delighted to found a forum that works for a change and responds to people.
Nice work KUDOS guys!!!!
Environment Details.
1. Phone model: HTC HD Mini
2. ROM: New one which has been release by HTC india for correction of ringtone.
3.Carrier: Vodafone India.
Now coming to the Issue Description:
Whenever i try to connect to my webmail using activesync 4.5 i suppose the once which comes along with the phone, i get the following error:
"The security certificate on the server is not valid. Contact your exchange server admin or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server.
Support Code: 0x80072F0D"
Initially i though this would be because my org uses a self signed cert. I got in touch with the exchange admin and he gave me a copy of the following cert used:
1. CA root cert.
2. Exchange cert.
Once i had these i installed the same in the phone.
Observations after that.
1. The root certificate is installed in the Root folder. (valid till 10/29/29)
2. The server certificate is installed in the Intermediate folder. (valid till 16/09/19)
Still when i try to SYNC i get the error message:
"The security certificate on the server is not valid. Contact your exchange server admin or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server.
Support Code: 0x80072F0D"
I am somehow not able to get past this.
Can anyone help.. did a lot of Googlein on this but no help.
Is there any other program that can used for this apart from active sync.
Getting very sad and annoyed.
Please help.
Maybe
Futher research done on this.
Please follow this link to see further research that i have done on his.
It seems i cant post a link on this... But any help will be appreciated.

Anurag

I am getting my first WP7 phone next week and I was wondering how to install a .crt file in WP7. I was unable to find any information in the forums for WP7. In Windows mobile 6.5 I installed the .crt file on the phone with activesynch, ran the file through File Exp and it installed the certificate. Does anyone know how this is done with WP7? Thanks

You just email the Cert to yourself & than open the email & download the cert on your WP7 device. Once downloaded, click the shield in the e-mail to install it. I guess the main question would be why though as at current, I think the Chevron Unlocker is the only tool that required installing a custom cert.
iridium21 said:
EDIT: Thanks to Cendaryn we also have the required security certificate - the easiest way (thanks to Talys) to install the cert and unlock your WP7 is to do as follows:
1. Unzip file, and attach chevronwp7.cer (see below for file) to an e-mail to yourself
2. Open email in WP7
3. Tap attachment once, turns it into a shield, tap it again, goes to install certificate screen with white letters on black screen
4. Click install at the bottom

I am not sure exactly what the certificate does... But my company requires that it be installed in order for us to rec emails through Microsoft exchange. I think it has something to do with password protection on the phone and also to allow the emails to synch. I guess i will have to setup my personal email first download the file install then setup my work email.. Thanks for the quick reply!!!

Ah okay, never thought about that. Well I can tell you a cert is a form of authentication. In this case, your companies email service must require the cert to prove that is allowed access. It's like a drivers license/ID/Social Security card/etc., but for applications/servers/service/etc. My main reason for asking was that in WM, we had to unsign the DLL/MUI/EXE's to edit them & than resign them & have the cert we used to resign them installed on the device so it'd recognize the DLL/MUI/EXE. This is how we changed the topbar icons for example. If you didn't sign the file, WM wouldn't load it or allow it to run.
