Disable ActiveSync from Synchronizing - General Topics

Disable ActiveSync from Synchronizing
ActiveSync… that wonderful Microsoft program for synchronizing data between your PDA and PC. It loads itself automatically, syncs your PDA with your PC, then sits there, patiently waiting to synchronize any piece of data that you change. What if I only need to charge my PDA but not synchronize my data? It means ActiveSync is sitting around in memory using up valuable resources. Even more annoying is the fact that if you try to remove the registry entry that automatically loads ActiveSync, it very kindly adds it again (as long as it’s running) meaning it always stays open. So I need to kill off wcescomm.exe process from Windows Task Manager if I don’t want to sync my data. Here’s an easier alternative method on how to disable ActiveSync from synchronizing.
ActiveSync Toggle allows you to either load or unload ActiveSync from memory whilst also removing the registry key that automatically loads it upon starting Windows.

Very straight forward tool to disable ActiveSync. Once disabled ActiveSync from memory, you can connect your PDA to your PC to charge without being bugged to synchronize every single minute!
It’s a FREEWARE.
Get it HERE.

Thanks Red Hanks alot. I'm looking for something like this for long as the AS always keeps my BA connected via GPRS so it eats up alot of power.
Oooops! I need an app of this kind for my BA.

No problem...

Great little app. Someone should have thought of it years ago!!

My Sprint Diamond on the stock rom doesn't charge from the PC once ActiveSync is disabled on the pc after using this app. Any ideas?

On my case I am happy with the fact every time I connect my Uni to my laptop it syncronizes and chharges at the same time!
Anyway good to know about this tool

How to download
Hi Red Hanks. The app sounds great. Active Syn drives me crazy. Only problem I have is when I click on Get it HERE I get transfered to a login site. How can I get the app?
Sorry to be dense, but some of this is very new to me.
Thanks

You can also disable the network connection that the phone uses. Easy as pie in XP. Just re-enable it and active synch kicks on. The network connections menu is burried in Vista though. Definetly going to use this program on my Vista computers.

Automatically connect to the internet using any available WiFi network

I am looking for something similar to what Hitchhicker is supposed to do, but without the Hitchhiker's problems on WM6. For me, it was completely unreliable, left tons of connection settings behind in the registry etc etc.
All i want is an ability to find a public/open WiFi network with internet access and connect to it in a single tap.
Any ideas ?
I use WeFi- Free and works like charm. Also can start programms after it connected.
I start Palringo (Free multi Messanger)
I read about WeFi here, the reason i never tried it was this:

It scrambled my wifi settings I had to make a hard reset (Asus P535, WM6).

Can you tell me what particular version seems to work on Polaris ?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: i am currently backing up to try the latest version myself, will report here later today
First report about WeFi:
It seems to erase all your normal (WZC) WiFi settings without asking, including the WEP/WPA keys. And KEEP ERASING those every start.
It would not connect to my own home WiFi (secured, WPA2+PSK, AES) despite having correct the key entered in it's dialog.
After manually connecting using the normal utility, while WeFi still running in the background, it "tested" the hostspot, and found it to have internet connectivity. After that, it reported 1 user being connected on that hot spot (me) ! What this means is, it certainly tells some of the hotspot details (SSID) to it's server. The question is, would it also share the key with every other user on the planet ? If it would, this would be completely unacceptable !!!
One positive thing about it, somehow, it managed to reconfigure the WZC on Polaris to connect to any open hotspot available (good for me), even when the program isn't running (no, i didn't forget to shut it's today plugin down). This is probably some registry setting unknown to us. I'll try fishing it out and report.
EDIT: sorry, my mistake, it didn't really reconfigure WZC, it got some processes installed, running at the background, that i missed :-(
Just in case someone may want to know this, the part of WeFi that seems to do the "auto-connect to any open network" thing, but not the internet connectivity probing, is the WeFiSrv.exe, that seems to require Comm.DLL, Engine.dll, Hessian.dll, OpenNETCF.dll, Prot.DLL, Util.dll and Win.dll to run
as well.
EDIT: WeFiSrv.exe seems to be responsible for deleting the existing "normal" WiFi settings too. As well as responsible for eating a big chunk of RAM while running.
EDIT2: same app also responsible for screwing up the settings
Conclusion: unless you are going to connect to unprotected WiFi hotspots ONLY, this program, or any parts of it, isn't really an option.
Any other suggestions ?

Hey, Niels! My first question is what ActiveSync version have you got? Did it work properly with this device before? If you have an older version you might want to download ActiveSync 4.5 before. The newer the better, you know. Then check how many connections/partnerships are set on your desktop. I think ActiveSync can handle up to 2 partnerships with mobile devices. All other partnerships are set as "guest" and the only thing you can do with "guest" devices is to explore their file system. Sound very much like your problem, huh? Check this out and let us know if this pill helps.
got activesync 4.5
hello sfdteam,
My version is 4.5,, sow it is the newest.
Activesync isn't be able to make a new partner ship, and there also no old partnerships. when I look in the device manager and I plug in my phone there appear a new network adaptor with the name ''Windos Mobile-base Device #4'' and than I can explore with active sync my phone, but I'm not able to make a partnership or synchronise it.
This is what I see in activesync when my phone is conected:

Anybody?
I'm still not be able to synchronise my phone
pleaaase!!
On any other pc it's possible the synchronise, but not on my laptop :s
Sow it is somthing on my laptop, but I tried everything.
Does the user (that you use for login to windows) have rights as Administrator? If not than that could be the problem. Also in case when you have Windows Firewall turned on you have to update its configration. Search on Microsoft Knowledge base for articles.

I have administrator rights.
It's my own laptop.
Try using something like revo uninstaller to remove active sync and then reinstalling it. It has a deep scan removal option. Happened to me yesterday and I did just that and was able to sync again. If that fails revo it and do a reg/hd scan yourself before reinstalling. If that fails it's your phone or pc itself.

Thank you for this tip. I tried (with deep scan) but no success. I know it's something with my laptop because on other pc's synchronizing is possible.
I think it's something what trizzo said:

But not these things, it must be somewhere in windows. I will search further.
If there any tip's, they're welcome.
well. Look athe control panel for Windows Firewall settings. Try to disable it, restart windows and then try to connect your device.
I have similar problem on my laptop using HTC Vox (Gonzo Rose ROM 1.0a) and Windows Vista. I am not able to sync via usb however bluetoth sync is working smoothly.

Ending process Opera9.exe in FdcSoft Task manager, process restarts itself

I'm not sure if this belongs here or in another forum but I will ask anyway.
In FdcSoft Task Manager 3.1, I tried ending the process "Opera9.exe" in an attempt to get a new opera build installed. TM said it was unable to end this process, "Do you want to kill it?" . Select kill process, then a message pops up stating " Process Opera9.exe sucessfully killed" ...then the phone becomes un-responsive for nearly 10 - 15 seconds before control is finally restored. I then notice that Opera9.exe is running again, and at the bottom of the processes list. How does one go about killing Opera9.exe for good and prevent the thing from reloading itself after termination?
Device - Touch Pro 2 running WM6.1
edit your registry....
delete Opera9 from:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\
and soft-reset your phone.
Also, check me - does your device use Opera9 with "Push Internet"? If so, that may be contributing, since in the newer WM6.5 devices, HTC links Push Internet to Opera Mobile.
I had this same issue, and did the registry tweak above (to stop Opera from loading at boot), and since I had no interest in using "Push Internet", went here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532948
and followed the guidelines. Poof! No "Push Internet", device doesn't load Opera at boot, and doesn't keep re-loading Opera because it thinks it has to to keep Push Internet working.
Good luck...
~ BereanPK
Default - Value not set
That, is what is contained in the Bootlauncher key. No other DWord , nor Binary data. So I searched the reg using search function. Using ''Opera'' or ''Opera9'' as the key words. Mostly what came up , were settings related to Manila, Task Man Exclusive, TouchFlo, UserAgent, Lockstream, RIL..etc. What is Lockstream? I'm thinking VZW moved that boot setting someplace.
it's a KEY (looks like a folder)...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\
delete the whole Opera KEY... it's inside APPS

http://www.fuzemobility.com/tip-of-the-day-connecting-browser-tab-in-opera-97/
I appreciate the links. I looked for OperaPrel- in the processes list but did not find one. Was going to try looking for an .xml file that may have control over this, but after awhile I decided to try something different. I recall reading about two different services that may or may not play a role in this. One , CMGuardian, and two, Push Internet Service. I honestly didn't tthink I had Push internet. I thought that was on devices that used some sort of WAP connection only. Anyway, in the services menu, I set both of those services to manual start and re-booted. Upon startup, I noticed memory usage was down a little, and also that Opera9.exe was NOT in the processes list. I haven't tried installing another version of Opera yet but will soon. Hopefully this resolves that other issue I had. Thanks for your help in this matter.

[App] WellFTP - Easy wireless PC connection [App]

Well FTP app (free fom the play store)
Ever had a data cable connection fail on you?
Had to fork out for a repair.... Nope.... me neither.
That's because I use an awesome app from the play store to
transfer files between PC/mac and phone via my router.
I know as an avid flasher that constant plugging and unplugging takes its toll
on the microUSB port on the phone which you cant ignore.
After all, its the only way to charge.
You need 2 free components and your router to get this working and
after 2 mins setting it up, it takes seconds to use.
You need WellFTP app available free from the Google Play store.
You also need a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program.
A popular, easy to use and even better, Freeware FTP is Filezilla.
Install the downloaded filezilla.exe ready to use on your pc/mac.
Assuming you have the WellFTP app on your phone and Filezilla
installed on your pc with a wireless connection via your router:
(1) Activate the app on your phone. It should show the following:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(2) Run the Filezilla program on your PC/mac. At the very top left click File>Site Manager
(3) Click New Site and name the device (mine is HTC One X):
(4) Now enter the ftp server address from your phone screen (eg 192.###.1.76) into the General tab, Host box.
Then type the port number (thats the last 4 digits on the app server address, in my example its 2121) into the Port box.
Press OK.
(5) Select the Site Manager button (directly below the File button) on the Filezilla program.
On the dropdown select your device.
(6) This should activate the server and connect to your phone.
A list of the sd card contents will appear in the listbox on the
right side of the screen and your pc files will show on the left.
(7) You are now connected and can either drag and drop files to/from the phone
contents using the browser windows or straight from your desktop. You will see
the transfer details in the bottom window with eta's etc.
Next time you want to connect your phone via the wifi connection, activate the WellFTP app
on the phone and the filezilla program on your PC.
Select the device from the server dropdown as per setup and it will quickly show the phone files.
Drag and drop till your hearts content.
This isnt new.... its not ground breaking but if it means our phones last a bit longer and
we don't need to return to stock for un-nescessary warranty work its well worth using.
I use this daily for web design etc and so far have had no issues whatsoever.
I am not however responsible if something happens to your phone, your pc or whatever.
Use this software/app at your own risk.
mine!
look well.

MTP Drivers problems with Windows 10 after last Windows Update

Hi, all.
After the last big windows update, my Galaxy S7 MTP connection stopped to work. It was working like a charm before. Now the driver is not recognized by Windows and there's no way in hell to transfer a file via cable from my PC.
Here are some shots:

There's no KIES anymore, tried Smart Switch from Samsung, didn't work because my Windows 10 is version N, without Media Pack.
Strangely I can't find over the internet any mention to this problem.
Anyone there to give me a hand on this?
Tried updating the driver?
http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
Uninstall that unrecognised one if it lets you first
It's possible it's not the phone driver causing the problem too, chipset/USB?
Also try this program "Ghostbuster"
https://ghostbuster.codeplex.com/
1. Disconnect phone
2. Right click an entry of each section and choose "Add Class"
3. Once all sections are highlighted, hit "Remove ghosts" at the bottom right
It might restart the program again as Administrator without removing them first time around, if so just hit remove ghosts again
Reboot the machine and connect the phone
--
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried this driver before, it didn't work. It's also quite outdated (2015).
Ghostbuster was a nice touch, I didn't know this one. It has not fixed the problem, but it's another tool to try in the future problems that I face. I will try to find a different computer to connect to.
In the meanwhile, I'm relying on Resilio/Airdroid sort of solutions, but Wifi is a lot slower for files over 4GB, which are usually my kind of transfer.
