Contacts problem !!!

i recently went into the contacts list on my xda orbit 2
only to find it was only showing just 2 contacts which were listed on my sim card,
i cannot see any of my outlook contacts at all ?
if i wish to phone anyone who was on my contacts list,
i have to find MMS from this person and dial from there,
contact is showing correctly as sender of sms as per listing in contacts
except i cannot view the list showing 'ALL' contacts
any help appreciated folks
-thanks
Dont you have a filter in the contacts view?
hi,
my orbits filter settings are set to exactly the same as my mrs's orbit2
her contacts list is a-o-k
sms text messages recieved prior to this problem ALL show senders name as it was listed in contacts & also the number as was provided when i created the contact
ALA - orbit seems to be using the original contacts list to provide sender details for text messages recieved prior to error happening,
yet.....
will NOT allow me to access the contacts details etc,
anyone got any input / ideas etc, as im well n truely stuck without these contacts
same troubles
I have also found that on regular occasions that my Orbit 2 looses all the ring tones and name tags tied to contacts.. I can reset them all and within a few weeks they go back to default... Gets most annoying when you try to set tones to know who is calling..
AFAIK that's a Registry Error.
It's a common thing in MS Windows (including Windows Mobile) to have registry errors.
Only 2 things to solve this kind of problem:
Restore from the latest backup
Hard Reset

HD2: Cannot send sms longer than 160 characters

I've tried with "search" but I cannot match the keyword ....
So, there was a time when restoring your contacts from pimbackup was harmful to the sms app, I cannot send text message longer than 160 chars (I can send them, no errors, but they are not received)
Anyone knows how to solve this issue? I've this bug on my HD2 from various roms, so, I think that it's related with the stored contacts
Maybe there's something with the tags that HTC Sense stores in the "notes" tab of each contact, in this case, there is a way to wipe all the notes of each contact automatically?
Oh yes you can!!!
As far as I know, it's nothing to do with you having imported contacts etc. from PIMbackup......it's just the way it goes....
By default, the messaging application is set to "use Unicode when necessary" which results in long messages being broken into several chunks of 160 characters or less. The messages are delivered (eventually) to the recipient, but their order is not guaranteed.
To "fix" the problem, go to the Messaging tab, tap All Messages, then Menu, then Settings, then Options and un-tick the "Use Unicode when necessary" option, tap Done.....and that's it - problem "fixed"!!
Now, when you send a long message, it is sent as a whole message to your network where it is broken up into 160 char chunks before being sent. The recipient, assuming their network supports long SMS messages, receives your message just as you sent it.
Hope that helps,
Mark.
PS. There is some sort of history to this "feature"; back in days of the HTC Hermes (and others), having Unicode switched on meant that you could only send 70 characters even though the messaging app thought you'd used 160 characters. People were sending a 150 char message and getting charged for three messages - two of 70 chars and one of 10 chars....
Thanks man;
My network supports long sms, but I can't seem to be able to send them anyway :/
I'll make another test
Edit: Nope, no luck, they are not received, and the target can receive sms longer than 160chars, for sure
I am SURE that there was a bug with restoring contacts with some sense/manila bug, I've read about it right here, on XDA
Sorry for the double post, but I've foud out that it's an issue with stored contacts;
I've tried to send an sms to myself, and I received it with no problems...
I too am facing the this issue (HTC HD2 TMOUS) with sending sms more than 160 characters. this is not related to stored contacts in my case.
I did a hard reset and tried to send a sms more than 160 characters still facing same issue. I tried with 3 different Network Operators, still the same persists. However I have no problem with sending sms lesser than 160 characters. Anyone found a fix for this ?
P.S.: I know its a old thread, but... no fix yet.

[Q] bluetooth sending of phone contacts

i had been trying out the various contact sending apps from Market, but all these do is send the contact text based either with all details in sms, text, of barcode. Once major thing i miss in all is Bluetooth! And sending of the complete contact, including display picture.
I could get the contacts of a HD2 in a breeze to the Mango device using the bluetooth contact transfer application, but when updating contacts in the Mango device, I would like to synch these back to the HD2. I assume there must be some way to do that, but again, after having searched the phone and marketplace, i cannot find a way to synch properly.
What has happened? and can anyone helpo me out?
Could I get the information from the Mango device if it was developer unlocked i.e. with a chevron purchased key?

[Q] Transfer email to sms folder

All,
First of all: I am running android 4.1.2 on a Samsung S3 mini device.
I am trying to find a way to transfer/save incoming email messages into the SMS inbox folder.
Why? When connected with bluetooth to my car I can read out the SMS folder on my central car display. But there is no way to tweak the car radio to read also other folders... So I would like to be able to transfer the emails into the SMS inbox folder so I could also read them in the car without picking up the Phone.
Any suggestions?
You would have to get your email account to forward the messages to you in a SMS message. As there is no way to just transfer emails to your SMS folder (they communicate using different paths), you can probably set your email to "text" you whenever you get an email message, though I do not know if there are any email services that do this yet.

PC to Mobile Notifications/Alerts

Hello Friends,
Currently I am using a SMS service in order to get special notifications on my mobile from my PC. for ex: I get a SMS when a user enters wrong password three times, Windows alerts and logs. It's all done by using a trigger on the database the application reads the row and sends it by SMS. I was wondering if there is any application that can be configured on my PC, reads what I want from a database, logs, errors etc... and sends them to an application on my mobile as a push notification.
Can anyone help with this?
Regards,
