friends,
its a tough question for all indian owners of touch pro/ Raphael. i am using this forum to address their worries and problems.
almost all the indian owners brought this super high gadget thinking that they are future proof as 3g was not started yet in India in 2008.
now the leading telecom provider of India started 3g 3 days ago and to their surprise, the touch pro could not find 3g.
when they saw their boxes , it was not mentioned either and repeated telephone to HTC ppl made it clear that their touch pro / diamonds are only 2g. ( EDGE supported)
now what is the benefit of having a device which costed more than 500 $ and not having HSDPA.
moreover no forum showed that touch pro can be a 2g model ( checked GSMARENA and pdadb.net my self)
i seriously request all the senior members of the forum to please resolve this issue as my question is
1 is it a hardware limitation ie the 3g radio part is missing ?
2 is there a software to check HSDPA hardware is in the device ?
3 can using different radio solve this issue
hope that u ppl will support their indian counterparts .
regards
ankjain

Hi all,
Do you have some info as regards the availability of an XDA (all kind of model - Magician etc.) that would be compatible with the last generation of mobile network (UMTS - a.k.a. 3G)?
Thanks.
G.

there is a bastart HTC blue angle flavour which have replaced wifi with
UTMS
but i doubt that it support stuff like video phoning
partly because ms dont have any software to handle it right now
and also because the cam is on the other side of the device
and htc seem to be working on a true 3g ms pda phone aswell

I do hope this comes out in the UK. Then I can sell my XDA II on ebay for lots of money, buy this new handset and stick a 3 uSIM in it (on a nice cheap 3 staff tarriff... )
are 3 really that cheap ?
here they have free normal gsm calls between 3 users but other then that they are nowhere near as cheap as the cheap ones
Hi,
I made a search on the website and couldn't find anything related to the question abve. I am wondering why HTC is developing two band HSDPA devices as opposed to triband ones? It makes sense to have them world phone and not targeting certain areas!!! anyone can help on this. I sincerely apologize if this was discussed but I couldn't find anything about it. If it has been discussed, I apologize for doubling the effort/.
Thanks,
Gilbert
A reason why - this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
Hi. Many thanks for your reply. I saw the chart but since I am not a techy, are you able to please tell me plain English what this all means? If I get it right, I see comapnies producing devices that are worldwide HSDPA ready but for some reason, HTC has been developing their recent devices to be targetted HSDPA. I know the chart explains the difference in frequency but why can't they cater to all of the bands in one device? Kaiser was worldwide for example. hwat happened apart from the introduction of 1700 band?
Thanks,
Gilbert
it' all about greed!
they want to sell it wholesale to bestbuy or wireless carriers and to make them happy!
Yes I think so. But can you image what a killer phone the HTC HD would be (the new one with a long screen similar to the iphone screen) with quad or tri band hsdpa!! these people at htc are really dumb to think narrow. In my opinion, even if i was living in Asia or Europe and I travel alot I would have a hesitation to buy it when I cannot make use of the technology when I am in USA or Canada. Simply not business friendly.
Gilbert
i lost all interests on touch hd after they annonced with no usa 3g! buy sony x1 !
htc wont give u everything at once! else what they have left to sell you in the future?
hello all,
i am about to buy an htc touch pro from ebay but that "sprint" word is confusing me. even i have been looking for it on internet and xda-developers site couldnt find information. As i am in ukraine, will it be a problem using it here? or it is just smt like a gsm service and i will not be able to use the service here?
You are not searching hard enough. Any search engine with the title "sprint touch pro" will give you the top returns of a US CDMA carrier called Sprint having released it's version of the Touch Pro.
NOT GSM as you are looking for. The same confusion exists on this forum where the name Raphael/Touch pro has become quite generalised and convoluted as it may cover either the GSM or CDMA version.

Exactly. Sprint decided to keep the Touch Pro name, and they are a US CDMA carrier and it WILL NOT work on GSM networks.
You want an HTC branded GSM Touch Pro.
i see. thanks for help. seems like i need to wait a bit more to buy.
Sprint is a phone company here in the U.S.
Google.com is your friend.

I've seen some pretty worthless threads in my lifetime but this one might top them all.
Congratulations!
I live in Australia and I'm thinking about buying a Touch Pro from USA since it seems cheaper. I was wondering is there anything I have to look out for that might stop it form working here. Eg. Network issues.
I'm thinking about this one
Hi,
The phone in the link operates on the CDMA network, you'll want the GSM version (the one that uses a simcard). It is also network locked and will need to be hacked/unlocked.
Very cheap though...
Thanks
Some of them say A & T service required for some of the features. What does that mean?
you don't really need to "hack" it. just get someone to create your unlock code for you. you can get it here on xda or even ebay. I believe olinex can provide you the unlock code for a price. I can gaurantee that these guys here at xda are very helpful so dont' worry about that too much.
you should think about what band your provider in aus is using.
Good luck!
EDIT: those "features" are ATT specific and you can make those disappear. check the links on "unbloating" your phone. It's pretty annoying but it does not do anything for your phone if you don't use ATT's network. Check out the thread on flashing for beginners. Read it carefully and if you have questions, be very specific.
Thanks for the help. I been using a jasjam (hermes) with a flashed rom but the hermes is in bad condition so thinking about getting a new phone.
Dood, I'm in Aus and also upgraded to Touch Pro from JasJam.
A warning. You will not get Telstra NextG video calls. The touch pro does not operate on Telstra's band. Just in case you were/are a Telstra man...
Also, you should be able to ebay a cheap as new unit in Australia... I've seen many go for under $300.
A brand new phone for less that $300???
What are you searching "HTC touch pro"?
Touch Pro or Fuze in Australia?
Mate, check the 3G/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA frequencies used by your provider!!!
The TP AND the Fuze will work AS PHONE in almost any GSM network (beside some Asian countries i.e. Japan) since they are 4 band GSM devices. However, using the benefits of high speed data aka 3G you have to check which band your provider is using. AFAIK Telstra is using 850/1900 which matches the ATT US network while t-mobile and the std. TP use 900/2100. IF you are with Telstra get a Fuze and it will work. People here in the US buy the HD (not offered here in the US by ATT) in Australia to operate it in the US network.
Good luck and don't get screwed.
I received the Poco X3 Pro for Christmas, I am currently residing overseas in Europe (Netherlands) temporarily, but I will be moving back to my home in the USA in a few months time.
My question is: Will I not be able to use this phone in the USA? The area I live in is serviced by Verizon and appears to have B2 1900 , B4 1700/2100 AWS and B5 850 - which on paper the phone can utilize? However I'm reading that people are still not able to activate a SIM card in the USA with this phone?
I really, really like this phone.. I followed all the tutorials for disabling the bloatware and everything.. it's really a great phone so far, but now I'm worried it won't work.
Sorry if this has been covered before, I did search and didn't find an answer.

Oh shoot, my bad I didn't even realize I posted in the wrong forum. I'll wait and see if a mod can move it for me.
I did see that thread it's a year old though and for the NFC version of the phone, I wasn't sure if anything had been 'updated' or if Verizon was working with owners of these phones to activate or what not.
Well true, in the thread they do say that Xiaomi has a history with us bands but as one of them said that it will partially work and you can compare the 2 phones together on GSMArena and see they're almost the same

I've just moved your thread into the correct device forum as another member gratefully reported it. But I see that you've also meanwhile simply created a duplicate:
