Finally, thanks a lot

What do you mean? Is there English language at least?

I mean that nothing be change at the language file, if you update your German G1 that this language will be German if you update your english G1 it will been English

I looked inside this package in file android-info.txt and it says that baseband 1.22.14.11 required, but my G1 has baseband 1.22.12.29, probably i missed some update, anybody knows?
update: i tried to update and it seems update started with success
update to update: and now i have RC9

it didn't work on my UK G1.
Got error, and asked me to reboot.

Probably because it's German update

I have also RC8 Uk and it fails at the phase of installation.

You can´t install updat RC9 german to UK device. A script controlled the installed version and stopped.

Ok thanks I assume I have to wait a few days ...

Same version as you, guess we play the waiting game

sooooo before i update my g1 just one question: can i still get root access with the method elaborated for the european g1's? has anyone any experience with that? would be nice to know if i ever wanted to get root access
frank

If you have a goldcard around, you can always root it, no matter what is on the device.

thanks again kmetz, you seem to have answers for all of my questions!

eeer?
I have a Dutch G1, basically the same as the german g1. I already use a non OTA to upgrade to the latest update [latitude etc..]
However, mine says in "build number" RC33, where the update in this post says RC9 in all the screenshots. Is there any difference between the 2?

...so you started with build 123099 and used the RC4-to-RC9 manual update and now it says RC33? Weird...

No he went from 123099 to RC33 because he says: "I already use a non OTA to upgrade to the latest update [latitude etc..]". But it doesn't matter what really happent, i use RC33 built to (from 123099 -> RC27 -> RC33). What's the difference with RC9? So do i have to upgrade or not (if it has no benefits why would i go to RC9?)

Try to flash it with the US RC29 or the UK firmware. But I don't think this will work as the SPL will block it.
AFAIK there's no way to get root at the non US/UK/Dev G1 at this time.
Michael
try update using rc30 update.zip file. I think you will install SPL for US region and you can flash back to RC29
Does it work? Because i wanted to buy the German G1 but if I can't root it, I will buy the UK Version.
@n8gk
work root with the US SPL ??
have you try this ??
If you flash a US or UK firmware on a german G1,....
will the Keyboard work correct ? the Layout for Z and Y are different.
Where can I get the RC30 update.zip file
Ther german has also a build 123099.
I didn't try to update, because I don't wanna loose the ability to go back to the original.
Waiting that a original one is out first. (because of language and keyboard)
Not Allowed
I tried to downgrade with rc29 firmware, but it isnt possible...
Checking...
Loading...
Not Allowed...
And then stuck in the bootloader...
I also got my G1 last week and it also has the 123099 Build.(I live in Austria) If there is any way how i can help to root this build (upload it?), let me know.
If i flash an UK or US firmware on my phone (suppose some genius finds a way how to do it) wouldn't it render the "Disable Data-Roaming" function useless, when i travel to one of these countries? And even deactivate the data connection in my home country?
In Austria tmo offers a roaming block on their side so i do not have to use this function on the phone, but i am just curious...
Maybe one of the more experienced users in here could tell us about the chances of rooting such a device.
Are there any or did Google / T-Mobile finally fix the backdoor completely?
Greetings,
Becksman
In device info the build description is:
kila_eu-user 1.1 TMI-RC4 123099
ota-rel-keys,release-keys
And build id:
TMI-RC4
The backdoor has been fixed for some time now... But as long as you were able to revert to an older image you can re-root your device, but we are not able to do this because we would need to use an image with another CID and that is not allowed with the original SPL. But the only way to change SPL is when you have your device rooted...
Correct me if im wrong plz..
So that means bad news for the European G1 owners?
seems so. and because the developers here already got a us-hacked version, they not seem to be interested in hacking this 1.1 firmware the one or other way.
are the european developers to stupid/busy to do it? or are they so clever to get a us one?
in the european firmware 1.1-version the manufacturer has alredy fixed the lame telnetd-root bug and the bootloader. and this is, on what the us-g1-hacks are based on.
i have the hope that some day a local root exploit will apear, which exploits the kernel or another vital component of the g1 to get root without telnetd.
maybe such a kernel exploit will be discovered in the standard linux kernel which can be portet to android; or some great reversing/hacking-debugging-genious-mastermind finds an android exploit all by himself.
android is so new, there MUST be bugs to exploit locally.
Iam a highlevlel-programmer, iam not able to find such local root vulnerabillities.
way to open EU G1
one guy from Czech republic did it

OTA Donut Link

Hi!
These Links are for the Vodafone Magic (PVT32B) to the OTA Donut Update:
From CRC1 to DRC92
From CRC24 to DRC92
Is this the official code for UK Vodafone HTC Magic handsets? The filename implies that it is - but just want to be sure.

How would one update using this image? As far as i understand we can't just apply it the same way we do other rom images as it is quite small in size (so most probably not a full rom).
Just figured out how to update.
1. Copy file to sd card, rename to update.zip
2. turn phone off, then hold the home button and press the power button, wait till u get the excalmation mark triangle
3. press home plus power button simultaneously.
4 choose apply update.
5 restart after update is complete

it's for the vodafone device, not for the mytouch.
but yes, you have to unroot your device to apply an ota update.
do you know if there is on for the mytouch

OTA update=loss of root?
Just wondering if I run this update will I loose root as it's the official firmware from Voda UK? I have a Voda UK Magic and have installed the DWANG 1.9 Donut image but wanted to see what the Voda build is like as the Voda Cupcake build as supplied was quite fast.
Cheers

Question regarding manual updates, if you manually update will this stop OTA updates being received?
Reason I ask is that it was rumored that when the G1's where manually updated they would no longer get the OTA updates...
This will avoid warranty or something similar?
Is it a safe way to update our phone without wait for the arrive of the OTA?
Sorry for my English
I get a "No signature, verification failed" error.
I bought my phone from the UK (it's a 23B) but I'm a Vodafone Iceland customer.
Dagur, check the Build number in Settings, About Phone - this needs to be CRC1 for this particular update file to work. My phone is CRC24 - anyone know when an update file might be available for the build I'm on?
Working fine on a Vodafone Magic 32B in The Netherlands! Thanks.

#edit#
trying to contact HTC ... but they even don't know what they deliver ...
Just installed this update manually, and a newer kernel and bootloader was installed - that seems about it tbh, considering the tiny size of the update.
EDIT: Kernel is still 2.6.35.10, but has a more recent date (About Phone lists it as Wed April 11) compared to the previous kernel's date, so I'm guessing that there may be some battery life improvements due to this newer kernel
How have you downloaded the OTA File? Today I received a notification that the version 1.57.707.3 is available.
I'm using ZaSa_4chacha_GB1.57_2.0 (Asia 1.57.707.2) and haven't installed the update yet, because I believe that it won't work.
Do these OTA updates remove root, my phone has been bugging me for a while.
does it remove the dialer bug ?

OTA Update to Android 4.0.4 for S4 is Out!

Update: the first users got this OTA update on their stock, non rooted, untouched HTC One S (S4). Everyone could choose to wait to get the update in the normal way. It will come now or later for all. If you can't wait, you can also choose to aply the full RUU from the RUU thread.
Here is the OTA update: OTA_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.21.401.10-1.78.401.2_release_271130unb1vtlbbuv42jp3.zip (download from HTC server or use this mirror). For now you can't install this update if you don't follow the steps down here.
Wifi issue fixes and new EA apps are part of the update. There is also a Rescue app included.
Required
- SuperCID (some kind of universal carrier ID/ region, named the 'developers region'). Everyone can install SuperCID, if you're on US T-Mobile and even if you're on a Chinese device. And everyone need it for now, even the European users. Ofcourse you can always restore your original cidnumber if you want.
- The stock 1.78 WWE ROM (d-h.st mirror or hotfile.com mirror). Also everyone need this ROM and everyone can install this rom if you have got SuperCID.
- Back-up of your files on computer. This update will format all partitions, even the sd card!
Let's get this on a list
- First you need an unlocked bootloader.
- Then you need root.
- After that you can get SuperCID on your phone (thanks hard5ter for reporting). Some users can start here cause they have already an unlocked bootloader and root.
* If you are not on stock 1.78.401.2, you have to install the RUU 1.78 WWE. Before you can do that you have to relock your bootlader. You will loose root, you will get stock Recovery and above all you got the right stock ROM for the OTA.
* If you are on stock 1.78.401.2 already, you can go to the next step after installing stock Recovery. If you want to keep root while updating to the new Android, use 'root survival mode' in SuperSU Pro or use this free OTA RootKeeper. But you need to install stock Recovery.
- Now your phone is ready, you do have SuperCID, relocked bootloader, stock Recovery and the stock WWE ROM. Time to boot your phone, check for updates and download and install that OTA update to get Android 4.0.4.
New Radio_1.06s.50.02.27_2_10.08.50.04L
- Fastboot method of flashing the new Radio gives a 'signature verify fail' error
- The PJ40IMG.zip method in bootloader will also not install any RADIO update.
- In TWRP Recovery you can also flash RADIO zip files. Dima901 replaced the Radio in one of the zip's there with the new Radio and was able to update his Radio trough TWRP, but for most of us that won't work for some reason. If you got stuck in TWRP keep pressing the power button, you have to swipe the slider to the right of your screen, still keep pressing the power button and your phone will shut down. It looks like that this method is only working for certain ROM users like CM, AOKP and MUI users.
- I updated my RADIO by just upgrading to Android 4.0.4. You can do that in a few minutes. Make a nandroid back-up first and you will be back on your current ROM in less then a hour but with the new RADIO.

Hello,
It looks like some guy received an OTA update to Android 4.0.4 with base version 2.21.401.10. He was on the Ville U WWE (RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.78.401.2_Radio_0.16.31501 S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258480_signed)
Can't wait until someone share the file name of the OTA, so we can all download it from fotadl.htc.com.
The version number looks strange to me. 2.XX.XXX.XX is what we expect, cause HTC highers the number with every new Android version (we are now on 1.84.XX.XXX.XX), X.XX.401.XX stands for WWE, so that's also what we expect, but X.21.XXX.XX sounds a high number for a first update. But whatever, let's get this thing.

Lol, it was just a link for example. I didn't get my hands on that OTA update, cause we don't know the filename yet. HTC stores al the OTA files on the fotadl.htc.com server, so probably our OTA is already public on that server, but we can't download it as long as we don't know the filename.
Mmm,, ok i now understand. Thanks. Im waiting for it xD
There are some downloads with kernel 3.0.16 on http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads for EU WWE 1.11.401.109 and 1.11.401.101, might be related?
Edit: these seem to be for VilleC2, filenames are villec2-ics-crc-3.0.16-f4c3948.zip and villec2-ics-crc-3.0.16-503c44f.zip so not related to the OTA, also explains the lower version numbers on these perhaps.

Hi guys, I also got a notification in French about upgrading to 6.0 but I have unlocked bootloader and I'm rooted so I can't proceed any further.
I think the best would be a clean installation to 6.0 but I don't know how to do this. Does anybody know if there is a guide for such a thing?

Unlocked bootloader isn't an issue. You just have to unroot. To do so, just go to the Super SU app, in parameter, there is an unroot option. You don't even need to reboot to make it complete. You can just let the upgrade install.
I would recommend not to root immediatly after that because this is were it started to be painful for me (it seems chainfire hasn't released a perfectly working SuperSU for Marshmallow yet)
