i upgraded to tomal's rom to give it a try, and it works great, problem is i can't remove the rom....mtty tool doesn't work cause everytime i connect to xp, vista don't matter about 10 cords it always say usb unrecongized and when i do the ruu...i get a error so i was going to try the mtty but i can't even connect the universal to the damn pc, in bootloader it goes from serial to usb when you connect that works, but u see it connect to the pc for like 2 secs then the usb unrecongizeable any help i'm tired of reading all these treads....thanks in advance
bty mtty tool only shows com1 and com2 no usb at all
I found out what it was, i had to go in to safe mode and when i plugged it back in i hurry up and stop the auto update, looked in device manager and there it was *** pocket usb sync **** before i couldn't see it now i followed the post on upgrading using vista no problems thanks!!

Everytime I connect my PC to the phone via USB cable, I get a message from XP saying,
"USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
Activesync never goes green and I can't flash my phone to a more stable ROM. I just got my TILT 2 days ago and really don't want to be stuck with such a slow ROM. I flashed the phone to the HTC AKU bigstorage ROM before this and everything worked fine. It's just when I tried to flash to the AT&T Rom did I run into this problem.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried rebooting your PC?
If rebooting the PC doesn't do it you may need to completely re install activesync itself. Worked for me....
I reinstalled activesync and now it works.
BTW, is there a way to stop Activesync blinking my programs in and out from being selected on my PC?
setting -> connections ->usb to pc -> uncheck a mark. this should help.
the best idea - change rom to htc, faster, more relible, no sync problems.

i have no idea what has happened to my universal (imate jasjar)
i started upgrading to a new ROM, and then it got stucked on the bootloader. it only shows
USB (when connected to usb, or serial if not), V0.6 on the bottom of the screen.
i tried the ulock of the bootloader, (light, softrest, power), exitbootloader, but nothing worked.
when trying to use mtty it gives me an error (can not open usb).
i am using vista.
any help will highly appreciated

I also got that USB-port problem trying to use mtty and UNI_exitbootloader.exe thoug i had disabel the USB-port in WMDC(I am using Vista ) so I tried a PC with XP and activesync. Same Problem. Then I tried to remove activesync. Same Problem.
Then I tried a PC with XP but where activesync had never been installed at. And this worked. Now I did see the USB in port menu in mtty.

replace your cable...i had the same issues and that solved them. hope it helps.
Use XP, disable ActiveSync and then connect USB to your PPC. Mtty will show USB. I did it thousand times. Tested and working!
Vista and ROM upgrading ... they don't mix.
For upgrading your ROMs or doing any such thing to your Uni, use XP.
Search the forum, there shoulod be post somewhere with the XP USB drivers attached, if I remember correctly, replacing the Vista drivers with those will probably solve the problem, but with Microsoft, you can never be 100% sure...

I had the same problem as you, and was able to restore my Uni with a new ROM using the second link.
But the first problem is getting your PC to stop displaying "USB device not recognized", unfortunately this is quite difficult and I actually didn't manage to do it with my main PC! I had to use an old laptop with USB 1.1 and only then it worked fine, after installing Activesync 4.5.
Basically the Uni sucks full 500mA out of the USB port, so try unplugging ALL other USB devices from your PC first, and if that doesn't work then you will have to try another PC. Some work better than others, maybe you have an old laptop lying around which has at least USB 1.1, or could use a friends PC?
Don't bother hard resetting any more, in this state you can only do normal reset and enter bootloader mode. You will have to try combinations of this whilst plugging it into the PC, and also try different USB ports. Also try entering bootloader mode whilst the Uni is plugged into PC, and try without and plugging it in after.
If you manage to get the device recognized in device manager, and the display change to USB, then follow the instructions in the Wiki above and your device will be restored.
And make sure to flash a ROM that does not include a new IPL/SPL, that means don't use any network default WM5 ROM!!! I used Tomal's 8.0, I recommend that when flashing to recover your device.

But The Battery Charging running well as long as the Cable connected.
Maybe there is any procedure that I Have not tried yet.. Please tell me..

tommyx21.. If I did understand you correctly..You had a Windows problem on your Laptop then you reformate it... then your problem with not able to connect your LG to Laptops began isnt???
When you plug in your LG to your Laptop do you see any sign of been connected as USB device? Have you reinstall the ActiveSync.

I Hv format my LGKS20 device, not my LT Boss
for acouple time after format, i can see the sign with the" not recognize" notification (asking for driver). But After that My LGKs20 cannot be detected by LT anymore..
I hv tried to connect my device to PC, but it not given any change too...
I hv already tried to reinstall Actvesync and it given nothing...

run phone in bootloader mode
uncheck allow usb connection
connect cable to pc
manually update samsung mits usb sync with vistaruu driver (wceusbsh.inf)
then turn on your phone, accept allow usb connection and synchronize it with windows mobile device center
when synchronization is complete uncheck allow usb connection
remove usb cable, run phone in bootloader mode,start
image downloader connect usb cable and wait a moment then start flashing
