Can internet sharing be enabled on the i907 through media net rather than att isp? IF so, How? If not, can OEM Internet Sharing program be replaced with one from a tilt that does not have the preconfigured connection settings? If so, will someone send it to me?
Just reminding you we will deal with HTC devices.
you might not get an answer at all.
sorry
Here is what you need to do to get Internet Connection Sharing on the Epix.
First download Total Commander. Then you’ll need to delete the entire key, not just the value, which does something different depending on the value assigned) in this modification. You will want to delete ForceCellConnection, which is found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings.

Hi,
I've literally searched my butt off to find anything (helpful!) on this but i didnt have much luck so far so i'm hoping someone in here might have an answer...
Actually i've got two questions but lets just start with the one from the topic:
How the heck do i change the directory to where bluetooth files are saved by default?! i've got an xda mini s and it got only about 32mb of free unused storage space. but i got a 1gb storage card that doesnt really help me much when sending files through bluetooth that are larger than 32mb... so i'd like to save directly to the mini-sd card. i've stumbled across some hint changing a registry value but that didnt work either because ... well... the registry key wasn't there. and a search (with PHM) after "/my documents" didnt bring any results either so i couldnt find where to change this path to the one i want it to be... active sync isnt an option either because i'm on a mac. the only reason that comes to my mind atm is buying a cardreader which i would rather not because it would be only for the pda and there just HAS to be a way to change the stupid default directory... of course the xda mini s has also wlan so why transfer through there? well that just leads to my second question...
is there any way (e.g. a certain program) that is able to process user information for SMB shares? i tried connecting to my smb share here on the ibook with total commander and with resco explorer... didnt work, just says it cant connect. tried dns name as well as ip address. i even tried ftp sharing (it actually worked) but the speed was kinda "poor" i have to say (50mbit wlan and the sucker didnt exceed 7KB/s)
Im really kinda stuck here concerning the data exchange between my mac and the PPC. the only thing i can do so far is using bluetooth (which is also damn slow) for files below 32mb - everything else is just plain impossible so far... i really looked forward to the windows mobile device again (had an ipaq 3950 years ago) after being so very disappointed of the palm t|x but well... something always screws up *sigh*
in hope, someone has an answer...
Hello,
is there a possibility to exchange some files between my Orbit 2 and my Macbook (OS X 10.4)? I tried to use a computer-to-computer network but couldn't get it working. So can anyone help me please? Unfortunately I'm new to Apple and Windows Mobile. So please be very precise when you describe what I have to do (think about a DAU² ).
Ah yes: I don't want to synchronise anything (like adresses or so), just wanna exchange some music/videoclips via wifi (hope this is faster than bluetooth where I only get ~100kb/s). Thank you very much!
Hi, I have just started to use SyncMate which is free to sync my iTunes music library on my Mac with my TyTN II. It works really well but I have been using a USB rather than WiFi connection. The program does support WiFi though.
You can download the software from
http://blog.eltima.com/2008/01/sync-your-mac-and-a-smartphone-with-syncmate.html
Although this is sync software it should also be able to do what you want as you can Sync a folder on your Mac with a folder on your phone which will enable you to transfer files to and fro.
Good luck and be interested to hear if the WiFi sync works!
if boths were connected to the wifi router it would be a matter of setting up normal filesharing like between 2 computers
if otherwise one would have to do it as adhoc network
but i dont know how these things are handled on macs
on pc's it the pc sharing would have to be running the server service
and have the pda as a user with reading and writing rights
And BT ? or MissingSync
I have an old iMac and I made some ringtones. I sent them by BT with no problem. I dropped Syncmate cause I got some issues with the calendars and the contacts. MissingSync is perfect but not free. You can install whatever but you need a cable. Will try to check the WiFi
Yes, with bluetooth I managed to send some files. But speed was not that fantastic (~100kb/s). So I'll try to get it working with Wifi. Maybe speed there is better. I got my device recognized by the Macbook and an IP was sent to my phone but I don't know how to access to files. Unfortunately I have no time for the next two weeks to test it any further. Please post your efforts if you have success. Thanks!
So, I already got what I want (even better). I found the freeware MochaSoft FTP-Server. This software has to be installed on your PDA. It youses the FTP-Protokoll. Therefore it lets your PDA act as an FTP-Server. All you need then is an Internet Browser, which has an FTP-Client (for example Internet Explorer or you use the fireftp-extension for Firefox). Now you can access your PDA and exchange files via Wifi. Speed is much better than Bluetooth (~700kb/s read and 680kb/s write). The good thing is, that you aren't limited to the platform anymore. (I don't know if the standard Linux browser has an ftp-client, but my beloved Firefox has a Linux-Version too.)
P.S. @linux-users: Please don't kill me for my last sentence. I believe that linux is able to handle these things out of the box. It's more for us windows users to know that it's possible.
I've searched the net like crazy trying to find an answer but all I come up with is junk. I have an imate sp5m running windows mobile 5 smartphone edition. All I want to be able to do is connect to a wifi network and explore the network files on my phone. As far as I know the default file explorer doesn't do it but resco file explorer used to. I went to resco and they had a bunch of junk saying that it was impossible or something. It's really starting to piss me off, something so simple yet I can't find any information about it. The net is useless to me atm. So I turn to you. WTF? What's the deal? Thanks. SPACE
I think I've read somewhere that it can be done if some necessary files are copied from a wm pro os... But what are the needed files?
why would microsoft do something so obviously stupid???
I couldn't very easily locate the information I needed in one place, so I pieced it together myself for everyone else.
If you are trying to access any of AT&T's MediaNet services you will need to use their proxy servers. You will also need your Fuze to properly identify itself with the correct User Agent. I made a couple cabs to take care of all that for you!
"AT&T Proxy Manager" will install a folder on your start menu (\Programs\Internet\Proxy Manager) with 2 links in it: "Install ATT Proxy" and "Remove ATT Proxy". This basically toggles the proxy on and off respectively; Install/On to use MediaNet, Remove/Off otherwise.
This cab will also set Internet Explorer to identify itself as being an "HTC-P4600", AT&T's official model for the Fuze. Opera won't be properly configured since I don't know how to do that.
*It is not necessary to remove the proxy settings, but it may speed things up a bit to do so for non-AT&T websites.
"AT&T Root Certificates" will install all the AT&T/Cingular certificates that you might need using some of the MediaNet services.
*I know I needed them at one time, but honestly I've forgotten what for (it's included during my UC).
These cabs are perfectly fine to use with UC, but you might want to shorten the name and remove the spaces.
Thanks to everyone over time that has contributed towards this collection!
Does Anyone know if this is possible, i would like to enter my movie or musicfolder so i can copy whatever i want over to my phone BY WIFI (ADDED LATER) have tried to search the database and came up with something i another phone thread

googd suggestion.
Hi and thanks for tip. i have already seen this, but its browsing the wrong way.. I want to browse the COMPUTER, not my phone
The next best thing I can think of is if you purchase an application from the Resco Software company. Resco Explorer will allow you to map your network drive on your device. It includes a host of other features that the stock explorer doesn't which will make file management much easier. I highly recommend it to everyone.
