8GB Micro SDHC on ASUS P320 - General Questions and Answers

I just got an ASUS 320 and as usual I am on a storage space crunch so I want to get the maximum possible space in one go. I plan to get an 8GB MicroSDHC but considering that P320 is already a phone with a paltry 200MHz processor and 64 MB RAM, I am not sure if it will properly support an 8GB card. The support site of ASUS says that the highest supported capacity card is 8GB. I want to know if anyone here has tried this or knows the possible impact of such a storage upgrade? In short...
Will putting an 8GB micorSD HC in ASUS P320 slow it down?
Will putting an 8GB micorSD HC in ASUS P320 have an adverse impact on the battery?
Will putting an 8GB micorSD HC in ASUS P320 hit the performance in any other way?
If you do not think that this will be a great idea, please suggest whay is the maximum capacity storage card that I should use?

1. no
2. no
3. no
4. if you want max storage, get an 8GB one.. the P320 supports SDHC and if you know it supports 8GB of storage space everything will be fine

Even I have the same phone. But I cannot format my Memory card from the phone to get the default settings and folders. Also I m unable to upgrade my firmware. Kindly help...

Need advice for for storage card...

I just bought Xda II a few months ago and i love it ! The problem is, i just realize that i have problems with my storage card. I'm using kingston 256 mb sd card, and it sucks. The processing is very slow from and to it. My question is, what brand is the best brand for storage card ? How about the capacity, is there any limitation ? As i heard from someone, the storage card capacity for Xda II can't be more than 256 mb, is this true ? And the last, are there any differences between mmc and sd card ? Which one should i use ? Thanx in advance...
storage card
Hi, testimo.
i have and used sandisk 512 mb (blue color), is worked fine to me, my friend in Surabaya have sandisk 1 gb, not complain untill now.
my opinion, pda, no need fast storage card, except digital camera, but if you want to fast speed, you can try sandisk ultra II. (the best brand depent on you)
better using sdcard than mmc.
hope this help.
thanks
im using kingmax 1GB SD,brought from singapore last month, work perfect, much better than my old 256 MB scandisk SD.
is it ok to run programs and software from the storage card or will it run slow? because i might be getting a 1gig mmc card but if its not worth using it to run applications on i wont bother getting it.
Thanks
i install about 25 games + 5 software in my 1GB SD,no problem at all.
i think kingmax is the best...fastest speed, water proof, life time waranty.

2 Gb storage, kingston ultimate, driver update??

I have just bought a qtek s 100, and a 2 gb kingston ultimate 120x SD -card.
But my phone can't find the memory card!
I think i need a driver update or something, so that i can use my memory card
please help me
I don't think a driver update will solve the issue...
The card's speed (120x) is just too fast for the Magician. There are quite a few posts about this topic on the forums.
If you can, exchange it for a slower speed card (around about 60x). Then you should have no problems with it.
ONLY low speed crds will work/ But i have SanDisk 2gb sd card/ It work properly.
i chabged to the sandisk ultra II, 2gb, 60/66x
it works perfect
thanks for the help

[Q] How much internal storage is enough for Honeycomb

Hi, I have searched for this answer but can't find a guide so here goes...
I am looking at buying an Android 3.0 tablet, possibly the Asus Transformer, as it looks good for use on my travels.
When I bought an Ipad, internal memory was key(as its not expandable) so I bought as big as they did, however I am not clear on how Android 3 treats internal and external (SD) memory, and if its different.
Asus only seem to be releasing the 16 GB internal memory storage transformer in the UK first, and I am wondering is that enough ? or should I wait for the 32 GB internal version. I know they can take up to 32 GB SD card external memory, but can you install all your apps aswell as data there, and is it hot swappable ?
thanks for any help

Does anyone have problems with the 8gb micro sd with 3gb or less free?

Like what problem?
Yes. What kind of problems. I have 2GB free and use to have less.
maybe he mean does we hava anything wrong with that case.
my problems are:
i have the original microsd 8gb class 2 when i put some videos, music or pictures and the capacity it's over 5gb, when i restart the phone the "preparing microsd" notification doesnt dissapear and i never take the phone control back except when i release the battery and put it back and change the microsd.
I've bought microsd 8gb class 4 and the same happens.
it's there any solution?
i'm using 4gb class 6 and no problems but i need more space.
Your problem is the SDCArd in general, I was nearly trowing away my XT720, bought an new SD card from ADATA and same problem. My last hope was an new Quality SDcard now with a "Samsung Micro-SDHC 16GB Class 10 - Plus-Serie MB-MPAGA" I have a new phone , no errors, no restarts, didient have to "battary reset" since i have that card.
The investment in a good SDCARD is (IMHO) the best you can do to your phone.

[Q] increasing external memory

hi.. i currently have a 2GB sd card, which im assuming is class 2 since it came with the phone. 2gb is less for me so im going to buy atleast a 4gb preferably class 4 (since its known to perform faster). my phone has an internal memory of 320 mb storage and 512 mb RAM.
i was wondering if increasing external storage with a higher class will make my phone faster? also, how about gaming experience since i have games on my sd card
PS. my phone is NOT rooted
thanks
I guess the only noticeable performance boost would be for things you do on the external sd card like reading/writing on it. Also I think apps that you'll move to it might start up faster.
I doubt that it will make the phone faster overall, because when starting an app, once it's read from the SD/ext SD card, it's all up to the CPU and RAM to do the work (also GPU if it's a game), and those are still the same.
