I have just bought a qtek s 100, and a 2 gb kingston ultimate 120x SD -card.
But my phone can't find the memory card!
I think i need a driver update or something, so that i can use my memory card
please help me
I don't think a driver update will solve the issue...
The card's speed (120x) is just too fast for the Magician. There are quite a few posts about this topic on the forums.
If you can, exchange it for a slower speed card (around about 60x). Then you should have no problems with it.
ONLY low speed crds will work/ But i have SanDisk 2gb sd card/ It work properly.
i chabged to the sandisk ultra II, 2gb, 60/66x
it works perfect
thanks for the help

I just bought Xda II a few months ago and i love it ! The problem is, i just realize that i have problems with my storage card. I'm using kingston 256 mb sd card, and it sucks. The processing is very slow from and to it. My question is, what brand is the best brand for storage card ? How about the capacity, is there any limitation ? As i heard from someone, the storage card capacity for Xda II can't be more than 256 mb, is this true ? And the last, are there any differences between mmc and sd card ? Which one should i use ? Thanx in advance...
storage card
Hi, testimo.
i have and used sandisk 512 mb (blue color), is worked fine to me, my friend in Surabaya have sandisk 1 gb, not complain untill now.
my opinion, pda, no need fast storage card, except digital camera, but if you want to fast speed, you can try sandisk ultra II. (the best brand depent on you)
better using sdcard than mmc.
hope this help.
thanks
im using kingmax 1GB SD,brought from singapore last month, work perfect, much better than my old 256 MB scandisk SD.
is it ok to run programs and software from the storage card or will it run slow? because i might be getting a 1gig mmc card but if its not worth using it to run applications on i wont bother getting it.
Thanks
i install about 25 games + 5 software in my 1GB SD,no problem at all.
i think kingmax is the best...fastest speed, water proof, life time waranty.

I'm using a standard mini 4GB sd - no probs at all.
Filled it up with about 3GB of media and prog files so far.
Formated it using Pocket Mechanic.
Takes an age to defrag

I'm glad to hear that your SDHC card is working well. What rom version are you running and have you done any tweaks to your device? Also, do you use the Windows Media Player on your Trinity? I'm just trying to track down where the problems could come from. Thanks.
I bought a 4Gb mini SD from mobymemory. It came with a nice little adaptor/keyring too.
Unfortunately it kept corrupting data from day 1. Files and folders being deleted, then named with strange characters.
To give mobymemory credit they got me an RMA very quickly and refunded me within a week.
In the end I went for a 1Gb card from Crucial (as was in a desperate rush). £10 with special next day delivery. Wanted 2Gb but they weren't in stock that day.
MobyMemory's 4GB miniSD is working fine with mUn's latest WM6 ROM(2.0.0.SE), filled it up with music and no problem so far(some user reported that MM's 4gb card worked nice until it was filled with more that 2GB of data, so, I decided to test that with mUn's ROM).
With a previous WM5 & LVSW WM6 rom(2.0.0.3) I had a few issues, a couple of 100% percent data loss events lol, it hapened whenever I stressed the card, i.e. listening to music while playing a game installed on the card, power off the device while still playing the game( or auto power off if the music was paused ) and powering the device on again.
My MiniSD 4GB memory card worked fine for only one month! After that My trinity stacked and had to to soft reset wich time I pushed the start menu, all this with the old ROM without GPS.
I've inserted in a card reader, and copied everything to a folder in the host pc, formated the 4gb card copied again everything to the card, udated the ROM and is workig very fine so far, until when????
Kingston doesn't work - SPV does not see it at all.

Defragmenting Memory Cards is completely useless There is no Harddisk Head running around on your SD Card, so defragmenting is useless. And: SD Cards only have a limited count of read/write cycles which will be reduced by defragmenting them.
I'm thinking of getting a new SDHC card for my Universal (currently running Tomal's v8.2). I'm leaning towards getting an 8Gb MicrosSD card with adapter for convenience, and obviously have the choice of class 2, 4, or 6 - there's not much price difference.
However, OllieD's SD settings ap mentions Type-I and Type-II, and I don't know what this is. I'm assuming it's nothing to do with the SDHC class?
Should I be ok getting a class 6 card, or are there compatibility issues I should be aware of? I'm likely to purchase the card from eBay, so if somebody has bought a MicroSD that works find from there, then please provide the info of type and seller.
Cheers,
Steve.

Hi Steve,
OllieD actually has coded the UI for me. Thanx to him.
Type-1 is actually the driver in compatibility mode of Class4. You should try first the type-2 driver if it's a Class6 card and select type-1 in case type-2 doesn't work well.
regards
Is it safe to assume that those using class 4 cards should select Type-I?
Just to throw a bit of added confusion into the mix; according to SKTools, my 8Gb class 6 Sandisk MicroSDHC runs about 40% quicker using the Type I setting, than it does using Type II.
Cheers,
Steve.
I've just done some benchmarking with PocketMechanic SD-card benchmark and I must say that my Adata microSDHC 8GB "Turbo" class 6 card (in an SD adapter of course) also works significantly faster with "Type I" set. In some cases it's even 2-3 times faster.
Agreed, this is what I have found. Type-I is faster for my 8GB class 6 card.
My 4GB card was about same speed with any setting.
And my 2GB MMC card was fastest with Type-II.
I tested my card: Kingmax 8GB SDHC class 6
It is 3-6x times faster with the Type I setting.
My V-Gen 4GB SDHC is unstable with type II, need to be re-inserted all the times. but, it very stable with type I.

Yeah, I found the same with my 8G SanDisk Ultra-II. I always select Type-1 now and have never had any problems.
Only thing I would add, if you're playing with ROM's and have to DOC-format the device, make sure your SD card is out and safe somewhere before you start resetting the device into bootloader mode.

Hi guys. Today I have received my new Sandisk Ultra microSDHC 16GB class 6 and I have tested it with SD Tools and the results surprised me much, it have clearly better reading speed, but the writing Speed like a class 4
Afterthat I tested the cards again with a card reader on my laptop, and the class 6 has ~20MB write/read speed. So the prolems comes from my phone, doesnt it? Im really confused now. Should I order a new card, and which one, class 4 or class 6?
thank you guys in advance
Try testing it in another phone and use SD-Tools again to see if the results are poor too.
As stated in the other thread regarding micro SD's I got myself a cheap 29 euro micro SD from Aldi and I'm getting decent results whilst benching it.
Now, the thing is, it seems every phone has its own way of handling those sd-cards sometimes. I bought the same micro SD as I have for my father, he has a HTC Sensation and it was giving nothing but troubles (the card sometimes wasn't recognized anymore, etc.), we also thought it was his phone.. Then he ordered a ScanDisk 32gb card for his HTC Sensation and all works again.
Connect your phone to the computer and format the micro sdcard to Fat32 with cluster size 32k. Backup your files before that. Also if your phone is rooted, search for SD booster in Market, install it, and change your sdcard cache size to 2048 KB or 4096 KB (whichever gives you better speed). Run SD tools again and check for improvement.

Hi,
I have my SD card (class 6) merged with my internal storage. Every app I move to the SD card lags like hell! They work perfect when on the internal storage. My storage is starting to fill though as it's only an 8GB device. Any ideas? I've been thinking that if I get a class 3 uhc SD card (they reckon they're up to 60 MB/s) but I'm not sure is that the problem?
Thanks for your advice.
Class 10 should be bare minimum. I am pretty sure the class 6 card is the cause. Uhs 3 is recommended.
Broadcasted from Zeta Reticuli
I would concur with @Gravemind2015 your card is too slow... Although I think a minimum UHS1 card is required to make it usable due to the higher write speed than a Class 10, but I do agree a UHS3 is recommended.
A Class 6 card is just too slow for use as adopted storage, I would convert it back to portable until you can get a new card or it will constantly lag on you.
Thank you for your help
I've bought a UHS Class 3 card, installed it and it's solved the problem.

The card reader in the 3rd and 4th generation G devices is UHS-1, it's write speed is limited in real world use is limited to about 45mbps, or about 1/2 to 1/3 of the embedded storage chip... You will always have some lag by comparison. Will a U3 card be better? I can't answer that definitively since it would vary based on your specific usage.
