hi guys / gals
i am using the big storage
as soon as i hard reset ... all the files of the ext rom that i have personally selected get installed one by one automatically !
just like when i used to have the ext rom !!
i have been using the following method for quiet a while now and am quiet surprised that many dont know about it !
this is TOTALLY the product of a very talented developer called ..TOENAILED (thanks man )
steps :
1) create a zipped file containing all the cab files of the extrom and any other if u want like resco , etc and name this .. ExtROM (please name exactly like this)
2) make a normal folder and name it 2577 and put the zipped file into it along with the "autorun" file i am posting here (so there r 2 files in the folder)
3)put this folder into yr sd card
4)hard reset .... and .... enjoy seeing the installation of the files as if u had an ext rom !!
and then go to the "memory" settings and see the 27mb and enjoy "not having" the ext rom !! Shocked
How about just applying the storage hack real-time, without installing any of those CAB's? I don't like them taking up my preciousssss space
Anyway, can you upload this file to the ftp?
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Magician/
Cause the file doesn't appear to be downloadable anymore, i'd like to give it a try, thanks!
well thats a personal choice !
those files dont take up much if any of yr precious space
but
saves u the trouble of installing some of the small but very good utilities in the form of cab files like .. tray launch , psShutxp and some of the files form the ext rom
anyways
i have updated the file above and its working now
ps . even after installing all the files of the ext rom and a few extra and that too automatically after hard reset ... i still get 15+ in the both storage and programs sections on the memory slider 8)
please rename the autorun file exactly like this ... autoRUn
Hey there all I just need some help I have some sounds that are from the hero and magic official roms that I have collected from these forums. instead of running off SDcard I want them on the phones memory since I have a MT3g I have plenty of mem and don't run BIG apps.
What I have been doing is running ADB and pushing files from my hard drive to the phones memory in /system/media/audio/ directory. I have to do this every time I re flash a rom. I would like to make this easy by flashing it from zip or in an APK if possible... Do you guys think this would be possible?
First of all, wrong forum. Please post questions like this in the General forum.
Secondly, you can create a folder on your SD card called 'media' and store your files there in the same structure as you'd put them on your ROM system area.
It'll still find them there.
OOps sorry I will post over there. I thought since it had to do with flashing or building an APK it would be fine here.
I have run if from my Class 6 SD like that but I still get a delay for notifications. So as I said I dont want to run from SD.
But thanks..
Guys im tired of using the sdcard to install android to my polaris as i always erase the andboot folder after everything so as to save space. I know you'd say "what space its a small file" yes but i just wanna know how to flash it comfortably to my NAND thru my PC USB connection like flashing roms with the upgrade utility. Thanks!!!
you are ridiculs but:
download customRUU.exe
copy the nbh file in the customRUU.exe dir
all the other files can't be flashed directly (the androidinstall.tgz must be in andboot folder)
lol thanks master l1q1d for the super response. actually i was dying to flash the android on my polaris immediately after my SD card broke. I had to install it thru usb since i have no sdcard. lll try that now.
i was actually looking for a way to copy the andboot folder to the phone memory after NBH flash, but im not sure that the phone memory has less memory to contain the boot files and the installation thereafter. I lost my sdcard and would wanna make the automation work without it. could this be possible? Thanks again.
No, you can't do it.
That does it. IT wont be. thanks
Hi Guys, Ive just used super one click to root my new galaxy tab. Its placed superuser widget on my applications page but im stuck on what to do next to get my apk non market place ones, onto my device? it also did the "allow non market apps" part correctly. Ive got a micro sd card in the device and read something about having to unmount the card also, but i didnt do this. So, if anyone could be so kind to tell me what prog i need or were abouts on the internal/external memory i put the actual apk files id be well chuffed thankyou. Ive tried to install android commander but it lost me with installing this sdk and jdk ect (and said my abd doesnt work) is there a simpler way?
Thankyou so much for your help guys. I have tried goog but its throwing me everywere and my laptop getting full of desktop shourtcuts and progs i havnt a clue lol.
cheers!
p.s i made a folder called downloads on my memory card root and put an apk file in there but when i install, it says not allowed?
Alright so Ive been searching for posts on this and trying to figure this out for hours and Im almost fed up. Ive tried multiple different ways of downloading and extracting the froyo/super oneclick and have multiple different problems. The latest problem Ive had is I can get the root, and nandroid folders into my sd card while the usb connection, then when i switch to porta and tools the files wont be in my sd card anymore. Other problems Ive ran into are my computer wont be able to read the open recovery and therefor wont put it into my sd card... Ive tried unzipping the file into my sd card, on the the desktop, ect. Ive also tried just downloading the .zip file strait to the desktop an dragging and dropping into my sd card, and nothing works...
Can someone PLEASE tell me where im going wrong? And maybe send me in the right direction?

You need to have usb debugging checked in settings/development I think. Then while plugged in switch to portal and tools and run superoneclick from your pc not from your sdcard to root. You won't see the root of your sdcard while in portal and tools
Have you watched my videos?
There is a link in my sig.

Be sure not to forget about the USB debugging. It is something so simple, but easy to forget.
For your root problem, download Universal Androot apk and put it on your SD card. Use some file mgr and install. Click root and woot you're done and rooted.
For open recovery issue, you need to make sure phone is USB debugged and in mass storage mode. Unzip OR and put contents on SD card ( you'll need a folder called openrecovery and another named nandroid-zip contents go in openrecovery folder and when you make a back up, they will populate into the nandroid folder), but also put openrecovery.zip on card.
+1 on Rev's bids. Very helpful to familiarize yourself with proper partitions and basic Linux.
Yeah rev I was using your video watching it over and over lmao and I would make one dumb little simple mistake here or there... but I finally got it. And thanks to the other answer as well guys.
Now, is there a way to make my status bar black or is that out of the question?

You can use Metamorph or Zip Themer (both in market for free) to change you status bar or other things. Make a nandroid first and if you find that you really don't like what you have done, just restore the System part of the nandroid and you are back to the original you had.
Metamorph will work if you want to change 1 or 2 or 3 things but will require a reboot after all three. With Zip Themer you can create a whole package and apply it that way. I can't get it to work right but that is my own issue and not something wrong with the program. 3rdstring has a nice theme going over on the Themes and Apps forum if you want to take a look.
Hit those thanks buttons if anything helps you out and good luck.
