Old Radio - G1 Android Development

Does anyone have the old radio pre JF RC33. The new radio made my edge network slow. thanks

all you have to do i reflash the dreaming.nbh file to the bootloader and it has the original radio

yeah I had hoped someone would have just the radio file, and I would not have to re flash the full DREAMIMG.nbh

http://rapidshare.com/files/196098231/RC28radio_update_testkeys.zip
(md5 059b7e2515441334ef91f84beb8eb94e)
This is the radio from RC28, signed with test keys

thanks for the link, but that one works slower too. I must need the one from RC29 or RC30.

I don't think the baseband has been updated prior to RC33. Did you try doing a factory restore.

not yet, but that will be my next step re flash mod RC29 and RC30 and see if that helps out. I hate living in a non 3g area.

My bad, this IS the radio update from RC29... I took it from signed-kila-ota-115247-prereq.TC4-RC19+RC28.zip
There have only been 2 radio updates ever. One in RC29 and one in RC33... and obviously the one that came with the phone prior to RC29 (but that was not an update).

ok thanks for the info.

rc30 radio:
http://drop.io/rc30radio

well that gives me the same thing, so something else must have changed thats slowing my browser down. thanks for all the help guys.

I had the same problem as OP but RC30 radio seems to have done the trick

Well I found out what the deal is. First I went back to retail RC30, everything went back to the full high speed mobile page. Then re rooted, stayed on the same high speed page. Then put on RC33, and it went back down to the low speed mobile page. So it must have to do with something changed in the browser, and not the radio itself. Damn it, I really hate the low speed mobile page.

Im getting a replacement couple questions about sending mine back.

1. I Reflashed to Dreamimg.nbh which is RC29 If I wait will I get the new update pushed to my phone, if not where can I get it.
2. By wiping and flashing the .nbh does that take care of everything, making all stock, T-Mobile wont see anything they are not supposed to, are they?
Thanks I just wanna make sure I do the exchange right, and they dont nail me on anything.
1. Basically wait for the OTA update to come from there. If not, there are some websites that have the download link to the regular update (Phandroid had it up for a while, it might still be there if you look)
2. Nope, after you update using the standard RC33 update, they shouldn't be able to see anything other than a regular G1.
Yeah just install the rc29 thing and you should be good to go. (The last one I sent back I did that and didn't even bother waiting for the ota)
I've also sent back one or two with JF builds still on them, and I've never gotten any hassles about it.
You can find OTA updates at http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=OTA_Updates

It you changed the boot screen will the DREAIMG.nbh file (and applying it of course) make the boot screen stock again too?

No. the NBH only affects splash1, but not splash2. You can find the original splash screens in my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473248

(Radio) All radio.img and update.zips Update-2!READ

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN FLASHING OR MODIFYING THE RADIO.IMG AS THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY TO BRICK YOUR PHONE
All of the update.zips work 100% of the time. There has been no report of brick and i have used all of them at least once. if you dont like a new radio flash the old one. Good luck!
the stock radio.img is from the 1.56 RUU for the SPRINT CDMA HERO
There are three Radios here. stock, 2.41.04.02.03, and 2.42.00.03.10. they are in order from release date. high number=newer. radios are risky so i suggest sticking with one. they almost never cause worse performance. if you TRULY feel your signal has degraded i put the stock in here for you to return to.
Update!2 ok so with the new release of 2.42.01.04.27 i was kinda on the ehhh bar with it. i never like new releases because they will always take something from you.
so in this case they have taken the ability to use data with a .27 kernel. so if you flash this radio, you will not get data with any rom that has .27. including the fresh toast 1.1 and all 1.5's. so its up to you. i didnt gain one thing from this radio. battery life and signal stay 100% the same. i did lose data though.
so personally i would stick with 2.42.00.03.10

Just to be sure ... I am only asking this as a precaution as I do not want to brick my phone. These are for the SPRINT CDMA HERO correct? And when you say STOCK you mean the Radio that was originally installed on the SPRINT CDMA HERO like "out of box" so to speak?... Again I'm asking to clear up assumptions. a.k.a. (Click happy readers)
Is this for 1.5 as well or is this to be used only on fresh 2.0b

I updated the radio to 2.41.04.02.02 earlier today and saw my download speeds decrease by about 50%. So I finally tried to flash back the Stock radio posted here. The good news it didn't brick my phone but it also didn't work. My phone still shows version 2.41.04.02.02. When I did the flash of the Stock radio file I never saw any error message and I didn't see the message about extracting radio file. Any ideas? Thanks

well i just retried it with the attached signed stock radio.img and it worked correctly. you may want to double check that in nandroid you are selecting the stock one not the 2.41.04.02.03-signed.zip one
Just tried to restore stock radio, all it says it "Install from SDCard Complete", and baseband is still 2.blahblah..any tips?

ok i think i know what caused this. although it says its still 2.blahblah its rlly the stock. the manifest isnt right so i guess it didnt apply. ill have a fix up but for right now your set with the stock radio.
It was the Stock img because is was the last one in the list to select. Are you using the instructions from geekforme to do the flash. That is what I was following.

yes you did it right. it should have worked although it still shows the old baseband. you now have the old radio. its not updating that for some reason i will fix once i find out why
Can anyone else confirm decreased data speeds?
I'll do a quick little test in the mean time...

Are you saying that my phone is now using the stock radio ver 1? If you are, I don't think it is because my download speeds are still way slower then before I did the ver 2 update.
Speedtest.net app available in market:
Phone was reset, then ATK was run killing all open apps. Test run at 12:30am so shouldn't be too much tower traffic, although my speeds never fall below 1000kbps
FACTORY RADIO
Test 1 (4/6 bars):
2239kbps down 671kbps up 285ms ping
Test 2 (5/6 bars):
1716kbps down 766kbps up 326ms ping
Test 3 (5/6 bars):
2199kbps down 617kbps up 342ms ping
UPDATED RADIO:
Speedtest.net app on phone.
Test 1 (4/6 bars):
2026kbps down 510kbps up 175ms ping
Test 2 (5/6 bars):
1671kbps down 715kbps up 183ms ping
Test 3 (5/6 bars):
1847kbps down 751kbps up 174ms ping
The decreased ping time is very obvious. Web sites start loading just a hair bit faster. The results are obvious ping times were cut in half!

[Radio] 2.05.00.06.10 WiMax update

This is meant for 1.47.651.1 ROMs ONLY!
This is not the full radio but this will update the WiMax, recovery & kernel(same as in the OTA 1.47.651.1 zip).
Flash this through the bootloader like you would Toast's PC36IMG.zip(Power off, then Vol Down & Power button).
This will overwrite what ever recovery console you have, so once it's booted, replace the recovery console to what you were using before.
Also, this will not change the baseband version but it will update WiMax, so that's a start
EDIT: Full radio has been released, so removing this update
On a roll, dude. Donation is imminent.
I'm still not able to connect to 4g after appyling this update.
Looks promising.
I don't have 4G coverage here, but I flashed this radio upgrade against your rooted OTA Update ROM as a test.
I can confirm that nothing breaks =)
I was able to, without any problem, reflash the recovery I was using.
I can't wait for a full release that completely upgrades the radio!
and we will keep current rom settings and root with this?
Yes, your data & ROM are untouched as this only updates WiMax, recovery console & kernel
So, i understand this is not the full radio update..
But it WAS a full update with the OTA's that were sent out today right? I dont quit know what a radio.diff is (i think thats what they called it)
Excuse me for being a noob but does this mean that I will have do redo nand protection after I use this radio update? I did your update to OTA 1.47.651.1 without any problems. Thanks

no, you'll be fine doing this.
A 'diff' would be an update that only contains lines of code that changed from the original. This gives us a smaller payload making it less burdensome on the network for OverTheAir updates.
Touch censors are non responsive when flashing over Avalaunch's Froyo ROM via bootloader. Gonna have to flash Amon Ra's recovery via ADB. Also, the radio still shows up as version 1.39.00.05.31 is this expected? Thanks in advance.

Nah, I saw what I wanted to see, or didn't, rather. Lol Everything's workin' now.
I know that this does not work... I tested it but maybe someone smarter can build off of it... In theory it should work but it doesn't on my phone... The file that it complains about is there maybe I just have the syntax wrong. Calkulin Please get this working.
Is there a reason we can't stick the radio diff into a PC36IMG.ZIP and upgrade via the bootloader as well?
I flashed this update over your release of today's update and 4G will start but will not connect. Any ideas of what I may have done wrong?

Telus Froyo Update file

I snaged the update file before it updated my phone. If anyone wants the file let me know I will post the file on a server for people to snag.
File that came accross over wifi update.
OTA_Bravo_Froyo_TELUS_WWE_2.25.661.2-1.29.661.1_R_release_Pf7sjzjrgcmpsve12.zip
I'd like to keep a copy just in case I need to return my phone. What radio version does it install?
This is pretty useless, as you have to run stock for it to work, it's not a RUU.

The only thing useful in there is the radio. I'm running it
I did the OTA update this morning on a different Desire (from rooted 2.1) and the file it downloaded has a different ending number, I wonder if it matters, I saved the file to my laptop. The "Pf7sjzjrgcmpsve12" is what of concern, would that work on any other Desires?
Nevermind, I think they're the same number.
i would like if there was a RUU for this. Is there a way to make an RUU out of the files it has so i can do a clean install and wipe my desire? by the way how did you find that link off the htc website for the update?
Since I have a backup of 2.1 just after I rooted, I should be able to install that then use this zip correct? What radio version is included?
Here is a link to the RUU named properly that I used to fix a non-bootable phone.

Im running the stock 2.2 that was available for the A8181 a few months back. My phone isnt rooted and i used to gold card method to get it installed.

Did I "break" my HSUPA?

I need some help- please.
I've been experimenting with some different radios. After not having much luck- upload speeds went down the crapper (no higher than .35 Mbps), I've since reflashed back to my stock radio, and my upload speeds still seem capped at .35Mbps. Before with the same radio I was averaging 1.25 Mbps. My download speeds are a little lower, but not by too much.
After doing some research, I read were flashing radios can actually "break" HSUPA. Is this true? If so, can it be regained, and if so, how?
Phone is an Inspire 4G rooted with Bubby's tool, and running CM7. Everything is the same now as was previously, when upload speeds were faster.
I would greatly appreciate any help. I'm still a bit of a novice at this, but trying to learn as I go.
Thanks in advance..

Thank you very much for that..
does "RUU back to stock" mean unrooting the phone and returning to factory spec?
Is there a kit to do this?
Thanks again..

This is just my opinion. Instead of unrooting your phone and all of that, just flash the new rooted stock RUU that is based on the 4/29 AT&T update. It contains everything you need to get up and running at full speeds - new radio, new RIL, and the proper build.prop settings. Once you've confirmed your speeds are good, then you can flash another ROM, and leave your radio as is.

No problem, glad to help. GPS slow locking is a known issue in CM7. As nhshah7 suggested, there is a universal GPS Fix for all ROMs located here. Made a world of difference with my phone.
