Finding/identifying the latest ROM upgrade - the explanation

Having problems finding/identifying the latest ROM upgrade for your HTC Phone Edition device? Here’s the solution and full explanation!
It has always been rather complicated to find HTC ROM’s, especially if you live in a “peripheric” country (for example, Eastern Europe) where official IMEI numbers are not necessarily accepted. (This is the case with, for example, Qtek and some Eastern European countries – even if you buy an absolutely legal Qtek device from Qtek’s resellers, you won’t necessarily be able to use its services to, say, access the ROM upgrade download section).
Fortunately, the Dutch (it also has an English section, so, don’t be afraid of the language) HTC-related Pocket PC Web site, HTC Club collected all the links to all the currently available latest HTC device upgrades HERE.
I’ve thoroughly scrutinized their list and was, in general, pleased. All the download links are valid and the links indeed point to the latest available ROM upgrade versions. Make sure, however, that you compare the version numbers (more on their identification in the next section) in the “ROM Update” and the “Country specific ROM Update ” column (if the latter has a WWE version) because, in some cases, the latter may have a never version than the former, as is the case with the Qtek 9100 ROM.
Identifying the version number of a given ROM upgrade installer EXE file
How can I decide the correct version of a HTC ROM upgrade? - you may ask probably the most frequently asked question. It’s not that complicated.

I believe you can purchase the software and maps from Organiser World in melbourne, check their website.
The official WM6 Rom from the HTC Members club works really well. A big improvement over WM5.

How to change continental code?

Hi all,
I'm planning to purchase my first HTC ('HTC- Touch Pro' alias the 'Raphael'-kinda) through some colleague who'll visit china next week. Yet, I'm trying to find out what tools and cabs I can find for this beautifull piece of art, really great threads around here!!
Also I'm trying to find some tool / way to edit the Continental code (i don't know the used code/term for this) but so far without result.
Posting here i'm hoping for someone to be able to lead me in the right direction, link me in the right direction or tell me to stop wasting time .
Yours, Jappo23

I bought HD2 from EXPO 2009, come with Free 2nd Original Battery & McGuider Navigation Installation CD from Sygic + Free South East Asia Maps
If I'm not wrong, this should strongly recommanded. Since hTC come with these free gift.
Btw, I'm a Singaporean.
I have the following installed and all work PERFECT! (havnt used pinchzoom- but all these have full WVGA resolution)
1. NDrive
2. Navteq (MapMyIndia)
3. Destinator-7 (Special HD version for WVGA)
4. GARMIN
and more on this thread, i wanna ask you that whicih one is better, either buying a full map included set or just the software and get search for maps?
because it costs too much to get a map covarage for both turkey and romania
thanks everyone!
Already discussed by a lot here,

TomTom - No US Maps on Website?

Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have TT7 for my HD2 and now need to buy the North American maps. But when I go to the TomTom US site, there's no listing for the map, and in fact they don't even list Windows Mobile software as being available at all - only iPhone, which is pretty obnoxious where I'm concerned.
Am I doing something wrong? Has TomTom abandoned the Windows Mobile platform? What gives?
Bump. Anyone?
Bump. Yeah I've been looking too.
Try ***warez site link removed*** their site is down at the moment, but should be back in a week or so.
I understand the site has been hacked and will take a look at them when they're back, but why would we want to go there rather than buying maps directly from the vendor? Just asking - I don't understand, and it seems you know something.
When you go there, you will see.
Since the site is down due to a hack with no indication of when it'll be back, maybe one of you guys will spare me the suspense and just say what's going on if you know?

Ok, now go and try to select North America and see what happens.
TOMTOM has officially abandoned the US market for TOMTOM Navigator 7 and above, "Due to difficulties with US Cell Service providers"
Except for iPhone because Apple will apparently "work with them", while the other providers won't.
The latest US maps that will work with TT7 on the HD2 are the 825 series. The 845 series appear to be incompatible with WM6.5, which is why TOMTOM won't sell anyone the USA maps for Navigator anymore.

Please quote or link to source of your information because it seems contradictory. TomTom is independent of cell service as it's based on hardware GPS, and iPhone is... a phone, so if there are "difficulties with US Cell Service providers, that would include AT&T, the iPhone partner here in US. Furthermore, the HD2 was recently added on the TomTom site as a supported device, so again your information sounds strange. Color me confused.
i found the maps on the tomtom site or you can download them as a torrent.

Link, to US/CAN maps, please. I don't see them anywhere. I go through the steps of selecting my device, and get to the three boxes where they display the regions, but there is no selection for US/Canada.
I'd rather buy them legally than download them as a torrent.

This from US TomTom support phone-line. The polite young lady on the phone said she went and checked with her supervisor, and with her tech support desk. I am a long time TOMTOM user and was fairly insistent on getting an answer. She was very insistent on 'Can't help you - it will never be available in the US on anything but iPhone.'. Polite, but insistent.
So I regretfully hacked it. It works very well, allowed me to download one city map for free, and I don't expect to get updates for the USA and Canada map I am using. I would have been happy to pay them, I begged them to allow me to pay them...

my bad, i looked and they have maps, but no US . i guess they dont sell them anymore so i guess the torrent is the only option.
i dont know if this helps but i just downloaded the one free map for my city (san diego). of course i didnt try and buy other one and so i dont know if it works.
Any progress on this...?
Thought I'd bump this to see if anything has changed since the last post.
I'm looking to upgrade to Navigator 7 so I can have a version of TT that 'works' on my HD2 (i.e. correct screen format). Plus I want to be able to use the updated maps.
I need to be able to run with both UK/Europe maps and North America maps (for my trips to the US). I am happy to buy these maps from TT. I'm not looking here for free maps!
It seems that TT (for reasons we can only speculate on) still do not support North America maps on Navigator 7.
Has anybody managed to find a solution to this (e.g. Navigator 7 with an older version of NA maps or even a 'fix' to allow Navigator 6 to switch to WVGA mode)?
