Camera problems - takes photos but does not save it - Touch Cruise General

Hi,
since a few days I have a very strange bug: My camera takes the photo (you can hear the "click") but does not store it. I cant find the photos, not on the HTC and also not on the storage card.
I am running the WM 6.1 Upgrade but at the beginning it worked. In my opinion its not a update-problem.
Any suggestions? Do I have to fix something in the registry?
In my opinion somehow the link from the camera to the album is "broken".
Thanks!
Christian

Install Schap's Advanced configuration tool and check/set there saving location for pictures. Search forums for tool.
It's NOT update problem. At least I don't have it.

ive had the same problem when i flashed a new rom.. but it was only when my saving location was pointed at my storage card. so i changed that to my phone and its fixed!

Hmmm... my phone is normally saving to storage card...
So I think BadBoy has a problem...
@188236:
Additional idea. If you don't already have Total Commander, install it and try to find pictures, both via extension and/or date.

Solution!!
OK, its easy if you know it:
Somehow the picture folder was corrupted. Just delete all files in the folder, restart and try again. I my case it worked.

I have the same problem. Once the pic is taken it hangs and times out. Doesn't save the picture. I have the app to specify pic location. Doesn't help. Which picture folder do I delete? The one on the device or a folder on the sd card?

how do i save photos to my sd card on my spv m1000 orange

hi guys i am a newby , i just need to know how to save my photos i take to my storage card, i take lots of photos them, i email them through my pc .. thanks in advance,
ps, i have tried a search but to know avail..
in Camera/Settings/Tools/options you can specify Folder
just change it to Storage Card
right: Tried that! Doesnt work, pics keep getting in My Documents. It works with Videos though.
(in my version of Camera, I will try the new T-Mo version one of these days)
These settings are different sets for video & image. you'll have to change them separately (see the tabs at the bottom)
If you knew this I'm sorry, but just to be sure you didn't miss the obvious.
M4io: I meant that I know hoq to set it, but to my experience it just doesnt work for pictures.
Did you try it for real?
I just did and both video & picture are stored on my storage card.
Camera V2.01 ((build 14506)

Can't view my photos "from the camera". Memorycard not recognized.

I have an annoying problem that stems from the fact that my device renamed my memorycard from "memorycard" to "memorycard2".
I run a Swedish device, but I will try to rename to the best of my abilities.
I have a Polaris with the standard ROM, but this problem is more general in nature. I synced my memorycard with the camera, so that the photos I take are put on the card. I could then view my photos in the "camera album" software. Then I removed the card and after replacing it, it got the new name "memorycard2".
I still have the DCIM folder on the memorycard and the photos are still stored on the card in that folder. But I can't view them since they aren't loaded into the software. All the new photos aren't detected either.
I can still use the file explorer or the software called "photos and videos", but it's still a lot of work for a simple task.
So is there a way to A)get the software to load the picture already on the card and/or B)re-detect the folder so that the new pictures at least gets loaded in the software?
Thanks in advance!
Small bumb, sorry for that but it's an annoying problem.
Have tried a few trick myself, like renaming the DCIM folder in order to force the phone to create a new one. It worked, but "photo album" will still not show the pictures...
So please, help me if you can! As of now it's a bit hard to use the phone as a camera.

has anyone figured out how to prevent the phone from deleting pictures from gallery

since i've updated to 2.3.3, i've noticed that some pictures are missing from phone. i think i had the issue with 2.3.2 as well. noticed video missing as well. this really gets to me since the pictures just randomly get deleted from the phone. i've googled it and it's a common problem. does anyone have a fix for this yet?
My understanding is that the pictures arn't actually getting deleted, just the gallery isn't displaying them. To be sure, connect your phone to your PC and browse to the pictures, they should all be there.
I believe I saw a 'fix' somewhere about installing a different gallery manager app, and that that seemed to fix the issue. I can't remember which forum I saw it on, so please don't quote me.
This used to happen to me on my NS. It would look like the photos where deleted but then when I would check later on they would be their ,and that was on 2.3.2
As we say in French: "Dans le doute, reboote". (When in doubt, reboot). Your pictures will be back in the gallery. That's the only workaround I found for the moment...
I've had this but the pictures *are* deleted. I do not trust the Gallery app anymore, and only use QuickPic (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&feature=search_result).
T
Quickpic is the way to go!!
I use Quickpic as well cuz the gallery app sucks. I just lost pics and a video that i converted and moved onto my phone. They are gone. Can't find them using my computer to browse my phone, can't find them using ESfile explorer either. Rebooted. Still gone
Can't find a fix anywhere. Not happy.
At least I didn't lose data on my iPhone.
I have had this happen to me too, but i had the app AndExplorer on it and i read something where it said that this app was known to delete files just randomly, so if you have this app.. id suggest using Linda Manager or another file manager instead..
Here is what you can try when you see pictures not showing up in gallery3D app:
Stop or FC Gallery.apk so it's not running
Use root expolorer (or some other expolrer capable of displaying files and folders starting with ".")
Browse to /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails
Delete all pictures and files you see there (those are thumbnails only)
You might have to reboot the phone but usually you can just start Gallery and it will regenerate (slowly) all your thumbnails again.
Gallery3D app creates the folder called ".thumbnails" for which it stores all thumbnails of your pictures for quick screen draw on the 3D interface. If for some reason you copy your pictures from one place on SD card to another or you add new pictures without Gallery.apk running they wont show up because thumbnails were either deleted or never created.

[Q] Photos keep deleting themselves?

my photos have been disappearing into thin air, and yes i've been checking to see if it is actually gone through connecting to the computer... is anyone else having this glitch?
is there anyway to fix?
Same problem. I haven't found answer yet...
If you use a file manager (Root explorer) can you see the files? Make sure you can see hidden files. If a dot is placed infront of the file name then it is hidden and cannot be seen in the gallery. If that is the case, delete the dot as that makes it a hidden file.
Or if a .nomedia file is placed somewhere in the folder, delete it.
Where does this photos came from?
Downloaded from web?
Have you deleted this photos from the download list without changing their name or location?
Try this:

this used to happen to me when I connected my phone to my PC via USB. my phone ringtones also used to reset. this no longer happens to me when i use gingerbread 2.3.4
i suggest you update if you havent already. also as an extra precaution now, i always backup my photos on Picasa.
I don't think they are deleting, they are just taking a long time to load. This has been discussed many times and the conclusion is that because the CPU is "busy" it takes a long time for the photos to load and if you wait long enough they will appear. I think there is a fix, but I am not sure.

[Q] how recreate gallery thumbnails

I had to reset my phone. I then reloaded the camera photos I had taken before into dcim/camera. When I look in the gallery there are no thumbnails of these photos.
How can I get the phone to recreate the thumbnails?
Thanks.

Probably just takes some time to generate them, if it's a TON of photos.

You could try this Settings > Applications > Application Manager> All. Look for Media Storage and go into and hit Clear Data. It should rebuild the database, you may have to restart to trigger the database rebuild.
The Gallery not refreshing seems to be a common problem across devices and Android versions, to some extent. I assume this is more Android version related that device specific.
My situation: I am on a Samsung Note 4 with ~stock (MODestRom X), Android 6.0.1. The Gallery app (and Snap Gallery) would only show me a few folders and pictures from within my <SDcard>/DCIM/<many folders including Camera>. New pictures would go into the Camera folder and show up in the Gallery, but existing pictures in the Camera folder, and most all the other folders, would not show up. I find no new posts on this issue in the last year or so.
The fix that worked for me: On the SD card, rename DCIM to DCIM1. At that point, DCIM1 started to get indexed properly. I renamed it back to DCIM so that new camera shots would go into their proper default home (<SDcard>/DCIM/Camera) and I didn't end up with a parallel Camera folder.
Other stuff I tied that DID NOT HELP:
Reboot
Applications Manager > Gallery > Clear cache and data
I found a .nomedia file at the top of the SD card. Deleting it did not help. No .nomedia files within the DCIM tree.
Hooked it up to my computer and synched in a new .mp3 file, hoping this would trigger a media scan. No help.
Looked for media scanner apps in the App store. Did not try, but most reviews said Fail, and none I found specified what Android versions they were said to work on.
Waited a few days.
Swore.
Googled XDA and found almost no recent postings, so I responded to this one.
I did NOT try moving the pictures off and back onto the SD card.
May this post help someone else!
