Ok, look, I've searched and scoured and repeated until I'm pissed beyond belief. My NATF Manila2D ROM was boogying right along just freaking fine until I installed KaiserTweak and now it's all effed to Hell and back.
SOMEONE EXPLAIN?!
Sorry to be so ill but I've noticed it's happened with NUMEROUS Manila2D ROMs and it's pissing me off to constantly have to reflash (I didnt really realize that was the issue until now.)
Basically, I install KaiserTweak, OPEN KaiserTweak, CLOSE KaiserTweak (doesnt matter if ANY changes are made by the user, ie me) then soft reset. Upon reboot, the p.o.s TouchFlo engages and the BOOM! I get the lovely Black Screen of Death: PPC Edition. Once TouchFlo loads, it shows the Message tab but WITH NO FREAKING OTHER TABS!! *fumes*
It shows a pretty black blankness where the Manila interface should be and "All Messages" and "Menu" where the soft keys aught to be.
I'm bloody sick and tired of reflashing my stuff. *seriously pissed*
The easiest thing is to just NOT install KaiserTweak BUT I would like to know any way AROUND this cursed p.o.s. conflict.
I've attached a screen shot of the issue. Maybe a picture will help clarify why I'm so ill.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Forgive me if it's some simple tweak I have to engage to fix this. I've just tried everything that I know and I'm really just ill that I've sat here and fought with this thing to no avail...Thanks again, folks.
False Alarm! =D
Ok, sorry for the freak out. Pretty much I uninstalled every customization tool I had (even though everything was cool until KaiserTweak effed it up) and now it's back to normal =]
If anyone has any ideas as to what setting is actually corrupting my interface (as no one else seems to be having this issue or at least not reporting it) then letting me know would be greatly appreciated. I love my customization tools but not if they're gonna conflict and break my phone =[
Btw, NATF has some of the best ROMs IMHO =D
Going back to loving my ROM now lol
Thanks guys!
One More Piece of Info for the Road
So I just went back and I figured out that if I take the Messaging tab off in the Tab Settings that everything is ok but if I put it in (which I really dont have to have so it's ok, would be nice though) then it effs it back up to that black screen that I originally freaked about.
Like I said, everything was ok until KT. =[
Maybe that weirdness will help.
Here's to hoping.

Recently I had did a hard reset on my phone, to fix some error I had encountered while trying out some app. Unfortunatly, I forgot how to redo some changes I had previously made.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can find a cab file to make the bottom bar on my Home screen transparent. [I have a Fuze, and using TF3D]. I did it once before I believe, but cannot remember if it was part of an app or not. I tried one thing from a forum on here, but it caused problems which I had to do the hard reset to clear up.
Found this myself.
Secondly, does anyone have a cab for a transparent glass clock? I tried one from the forum of the guy who made the landscape icons, but everything the minutes flipped, it showed another number behind it as it was doing so.
Any help? Anybody? Much appreciated.
Edit: figured out one part.
Anyone ever see the message "Process system not responding". Here's the story.
Well, I've been installing apps like a loose cannon, figuring I may be dooming myself to a hard reset, and it may have come to pass.
Last thing that happened while the phone was running good, was I ran the demo of the 3D game XXXXXXXXX. I received a call, and had to hop away, and after that the phone became unresponsive. Looking at what was loaded with Advanced Task Killer, I did not see the game to kill, so I turned off the phone.
Now, it is taking a very long time to 'boot'. The Phone is Locked screen would pop up, and I'd try to slide it off, and it would slide about half off. Screen black except for the clock of the lock screen. And after sliding off half way, the screen would go black, as if it was off, but then the lock screen would come back.
Kept thinking that ultimately it would finish. After a bit I got the task bar at top, and it was saying preparing internal memory'Preparing Internal Mass Storage"; then finally " Media scanner running". Finally a few icons from the dock. But everything else still black.
Then finally it would come up with a big message "Sorry!. Process system is not responding. buttons for Force close, and Wait. I don't know if that is an Android message, or an app message. I tried force close, and it went back into the same iteration of events.
So the next time i tried a boot, I did not respond to the message for a while, and it seemed to be making progress behind the message. It went off, I turned it back on, it had lock screen, moved it off a bit easier.
Then finally it came up more screen things in place. Then again with a message "Process system is nto responding". Let it set 'til it went off again. This time it came up a bit futher, and this time it came up with window to select launcher. I selected TWiz launcher. Process message again, and I killed it this time.
Whewh...Still not resolved.
I guess if there are any suggestions short of hard reset, i'm interested in hearing. maybe one of you have had this happen. If it ever finishes loading, first thing I'm going to do is remove that game.
One thing that is a pain and I think contributes, is that so many apps load by default it seems. And the more you install the more that happens, from what I have seen. I know I don't have as many apps installed as I've seen others reference, but I do have 2-3 different memory type utilities that I've wondered if they woudl interfere with each othre, but they supposedly don't all load at boot.
Post long enough. I'll add more if I find anything interesting.

Well, the above post exactly describes what I have on my Captivate as well. Long boot times, "process system not responding", black screens, media scanner running/completed repeatedly, severe lagging...
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this issue? I've uninstalled my most recent apps, but it has not made any difference. Many thanks for any guidance!
Sounds like both of you need to restore to stock...Look in the Dev section for the Stock Odin3 1 click post..it is a sticky so it should be up towards the top..Follow the instructions and you will be back to stock...
The problems I mention above occur mostly during a reboot. The phone does eventually come up, with only occasional lagging still left (which may be more typical). I am torn between dealing with the lagging until Froyo is released (hopefully later this month) or perform the "restore to stock" you mention.
If I decide to "restore to stock", does that mean I lose everything? apps, messages, config, customizations, etc.
And if I lose everything, can I restore some apps with Titanium Backup? TB was loaded 2-3 weeks ago and I do have a full backup.
When Froyo comes, will it require the same or will it upgrade the existing OS and leave apps alone?
Many thanks for your response jhernand1102
I did that too, I sett a replacement lock screen wrong (because it asked me too) and there I was with out s phone for a few hours. The one click odin didn't work for me though. So I used the updated stock rom jh2 i believe. Look for the stock rom threads in developers forum as well as the one click odin.
If the one click odin doesn't work feel free to pm me with questions on the other rom.
Make sure you read it but they is a lot there that may confuse you.

With titanium backup you should be fine. I haven't used it but that's the point of it. A reflash may be easier the finding the error and correcting the problem. And during any flash you may have some risk of losing something but I don't think, going to froyo will lose apps by design. Anyway you have titanium backup and samsung kies to help you keep everything.
Good luck!

I guess I forgot to post back what I had to do...having had no replies at all. I think I ended up in another thread.
Anyway...I did in fact have to reflash. Using the one-click which I believe is this thread is what I used.

Thanks to all for replying today! I will go ahead and re-flash to stock. I was hoping it would be longer (a few months) before I'd have to re-load, but I guess when you live on the edge (root and lots of installs), ya gotta be ready for things to go wrong.
I do love this phone though and Android after being on a BB for so many years! It is pretty much a 1.0, so we should expect bugs and work arounds until they work the kinks out. In a crazy sort of way, it is still fun to work through these gotchas. Thanks again!
Yeah. I really hated the idea of a reflash.
but, if you haven't yet, you need to look in the DEV thread, and look into Clockwork Mod and Rom Recovery. As well, you should get teh paid version of Titanium backup.
Between those two things, occasional reflash and reload is not too painful.
I've learned so much today! Got the paid version of Titanium Backup for an easy "restore all via batch" and also did the ROM Mgr / Clockwork Recovery (thanx ewingr). So, I now have the best of both worlds for getting out of a jam and looking forward to trying out any new ROM's that may come out; with ease thanks to these apps!
So far, my third iteration of setting up this phone (twice today) is working, so maybe I don't really have a question, other than "Has anything like this happened to you?", but I thought this was better in the Q&A rather than general discussion section. Mods please move if you disagree. I really did think about this, but couldn't decide where to put it.
I had to buy a new phone about two weeks ago because my S7 Edge's battery swelled up and bent the back of the phone's case. I wound up trading it in on a new S8+ (from Verizon). I love the phone even more than my S7 Edge, which is saying something.
Anyway, I like to use Samsung's themes to switch things up a bit, and I change themes every couple of days. I always search the theme store for new themes that are free. I've learned that most of them are crap, but you can usually tell by looking at the preview shots if the theme designer has gone overboard by using poor color choices/backgrounds in the dialer and messaging apps.
Ok, so first problem: I was playing with a couple of newer (free) themes:
1) Dark Night
2) [LSA]Shinny Moon Town Theme
I switched to the first theme and all was fine, but I thought it was boring, and kept looking.
When I switched to the second theme, I saw a brief message that some elements were incompatible and wouldn't be used, but the message went away before I could really read it carefully. The theme applied, though, and seemed to work correctly.
I liked the colors and style of this theme, but thought the folder icons were too ugly to live with, so I thought I'd just switch the icons back to the stock icons. Here's where things got wonky.
I went to the icons sections, picked the default Samsung icon set, and applied it. The folder icons did not switch back!
At this point, I panicked a bit and just decided to return to the stock theme. When I applied the stock theme, everything looked OK, but I noticed the Infinity wallpaper wasn't working - it just acted like a static wallpaper.
After web searching a bit, it seems this can happen if you set the Always-On Display screen background to not be just blank. I followed the steps in an online instruction for fixing this, but the infinity wallpaper still was not working.
At this point, I tried clearing all of the app caches (in Settings/Device Management/Storage) and rebooting. This did not help.
I then tried clearing the device's cache partition by looking up how to do that online. Timing is a bit tricky on holding down the power key, but after a few tries, I got it right, and managed to clear the cache partition.
Still no working infinity wallpaper. It really seemed broken, and none of the online suggestions I found worked at all.
Now, I realize this may not be a big deal to some, but it's a new phone, and I'm OCD enough to want stuff that was working out of the box to continue to work, so I decided to reset the device.
I did that, and got about 60% through my somewhat involved process in re-installing everything and re-enrolling in various services (iris scanning/fingerprints/credit cards in Samsung Pay/etc. etc. - you all know the drill).
When I went to set Smart Lock options for preventing the device from locking when I'm at home (Trusted Places) or the phone is detected on-body, I found that the Smart Lock screen was completely blank. No options appeared, and no button appeared at the bottom right to allow you to start the setup process for various Smart Lock options..
Back to Google, and I learned the fix was to remove "Smart Lock" from Trust Agents, reboot the phone, and re-add Smart Lock as a Trust Agent.
(PRO TIP: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO THAT).
After the reboot, I couldn't even keep the Settings app from crashing whenever I tried to visit the settings page where Security-related settings are managed. (Samsung's or Google's wonderfully irritating dialog box: "Settings keeps stopping" - yes, no s**t).
Clearing caches and the cache partition did not fix this problem, either, so I reluctantly and nervously reset the phone for the second time in less than 6 hours.
So, I guess my story so far is that this third time appears to be a charm, and everything so far is working great. I'm staying far away from third-party (non-Samsung) themes in the theme store for now, even though they'd always worked fine for me before.
I have absolutely no idea why I had the problem with the Smart Lock setup, though. Everything worked fine after the second reset as far as the Smart Lock setup and options, although I hadn't done anything in the previous attempt that should have interfered with something as baked in as the Smart Lock stuff. I hadn't even changed the default wallpaper or home screen setup yet!
Also learned my lesson about slavishly following steps on a website (Remove "Smart Lock' as a Trust Agent? If I'd really been thinking, this would have seemed like bad advice to me, but things weren't working right anyway, so maybe a bit of experimentation was justified, I don't know...).
Anyway, just thought I'd post my experiences in case they're of help for anyone searching for these type of problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this setup will "take", but I have to say my confidence in messing around with manufacturer-provided capabilities and content, using their built-in software and eco-system on their current-year flagship device, has definitely been shaken.
Hello everybody, Happy New Year to all! First post on here after a few years but I never left XDA without an answer till now. My question is about the color of the notifications and the Quick Toggles drop-down menu. I was on beta 3 (The *new* Beta 3, on Android 10) and my notifications and Quick Toggles finally became true black like I always wanted them to be. I didn't think much of it, just welcomed the change. Problem is, I then decided to backup my phone and install 10.3 stable, 2 days after it came out, via local upgrade. I backed up my phone and installed, rebooted and was greeted with a phone with all its data but reporting 10.6 (and having grey notifications and Quick Toggles). I knew that *shouldn't* happen and since I'd already backed up everything, I decided to wipe everything and reinstall. Problem was, the only rollback package I managed to find was 9.0.2 and that was after hours upon hours of searching. I installed the package via Local Upgrade and wiped everything from the stock recovery, booted into it fine and set up my phone. I then installed all OTAs back up to 10.3. Phone booted up fine and everything seemed normal. EXCEPT, for the fact my UI is pretty much how it was on Pie. I watched videos of OP6s with 10.3 having all black notifications and Quick Toggles and read posts from other users in Reddit and OnePlus forums where they either had the same UI as me or the all black one. I've read multiple, very differing accounts from users of the same phone on the same software and also noticed this inconsistency myself but I couldn't find a clear answer anywhere, no one seems to know how the UI is supposed to be and I don't know enough about how Android works to know what actually controls this part of the OS's looks. I'm starting to believe I did something wrong but although I've been through many roms, mods and magisk modules, I don't actually know what to do this time. Any insight, advice, help or guidance, would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot.
