Ok, look, I've searched and scoured and repeated until I'm pissed beyond belief. My NATF Manila2D ROM was boogying right along just freaking fine until I installed KaiserTweak and now it's all effed to Hell and back.
SOMEONE EXPLAIN?!
Sorry to be so ill but I've noticed it's happened with NUMEROUS Manila2D ROMs and it's pissing me off to constantly have to reflash (I didnt really realize that was the issue until now.)
Basically, I install KaiserTweak, OPEN KaiserTweak, CLOSE KaiserTweak (doesnt matter if ANY changes are made by the user, ie me) then soft reset. Upon reboot, the p.o.s TouchFlo engages and the BOOM! I get the lovely Black Screen of Death: PPC Edition. Once TouchFlo loads, it shows the Message tab but WITH NO FREAKING OTHER TABS!! *fumes*
It shows a pretty black blankness where the Manila interface should be and "All Messages" and "Menu" where the soft keys aught to be.
I'm bloody sick and tired of reflashing my stuff. *seriously pissed*
The easiest thing is to just NOT install KaiserTweak BUT I would like to know any way AROUND this cursed p.o.s. conflict.
I've attached a screen shot of the issue. Maybe a picture will help clarify why I'm so ill.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Forgive me if it's some simple tweak I have to engage to fix this. I've just tried everything that I know and I'm really just ill that I've sat here and fought with this thing to no avail...Thanks again, folks.
False Alarm! =D
Ok, sorry for the freak out. Pretty much I uninstalled every customization tool I had (even though everything was cool until KaiserTweak effed it up) and now it's back to normal =]
If anyone has any ideas as to what setting is actually corrupting my interface (as no one else seems to be having this issue or at least not reporting it) then letting me know would be greatly appreciated. I love my customization tools but not if they're gonna conflict and break my phone =[
Btw, NATF has some of the best ROMs IMHO =D
Going back to loving my ROM now lol
Thanks guys!
One More Piece of Info for the Road
So I just went back and I figured out that if I take the Messaging tab off in the Tab Settings that everything is ok but if I put it in (which I really dont have to have so it's ok, would be nice though) then it effs it back up to that black screen that I originally freaked about.
Like I said, everything was ok until KT. =[
Maybe that weirdness will help.
Here's to hoping.

Ok, so I have searched this forum until my eyes have bled and the closest I have come is a key which changes the HKLM/comm something or another from 1 to 0 (I'd have to look at the thread again to be specific).
Here is my issue...
I installed an app--WMWifi Router. It became shareware, and my key went bad. I un-installed it. Since then when my Wiz goes into standby mode it goes into a sort of BSOD (black screen of death) and wouldn't recover without a reset. After much frustration I discovered that my backlight would actually set itself to the lowest setting which simulated a BSOD (because it went totally black). I made a shortcut into programs for backlight, and soft-keyed it to make it easier...but frankly, it is a right royal pain in the ass to reset the backlight EVERY time my Wiz goes into sleep mode. Oh, and I had removed all the checks telling it to sleep mode, but it ate my battery worse than pacman going for a ghost! So I ended up checking them off but setting the time to the longest settings.
So...
I am seeking your help. I need a reg entry that will keep backlight set to a higher lighting, and will keep it at this setting even into sleep mode, so that all I have to do is hit a button and my Wiz awakens nice and bright (like it used to).
I am running NTS's Jag rom and it has been uber-stable until uninstalling the above mentioned application. It has been doing this backlight BSOD issue ONLY since installing/uninstalling WMWifi Router. I have hard reset, but my backup is a post un-installation backup...so if I cant find a reg key to work this issue out, I fear I will have to hard set and lose all data, and manually re-stage my Wiz (which is an absolute last ditch effort in my mind).
So please...help.
Your speedy response, assistance is much appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Jenn

Sorry to hear about a useless program like that jacking your rig.
Sad to say chief, but in all the time you spent bleeding your eyes reading, You could have already reflashed the rom and your programs.
5 mins to flash and MAYBE 15 mins installing the program you actually use, should be pretty easy if you're used to flashing new roms. You seem to know what you're doing, so that's a bonus!
The fix to the problem you're having is not even worth your time in my opinion, when you can redo the whole thing in less than 20 mins.
So unless you're just really not wanting to reflash, I doubt anyone will make a regkey for this (I don't know how, maybe someone will cause I wrote this
Goodluck
Thanks for responding to my thread.
The only reason I am hesitant to reflash is because I let my kids play on my laptop (I shoulda known better) and ended up having to reformat the damned thing...and lost a bunch of apps. So, you're right, normally it would take a whole 15-20 minutes out of my life, but since I use my laptop exclusively and it was just formatted...it will take a bit longer. BUT...good news, I have managed to recover most of my drive, so now it is a matter of weeding out things to find the progs I need to flash my Wiz...so it may still end up being easier--just time consuming.
Moral of the story...don't try to wifi your connection with soft that will take out your reg files when you un-install it...AND...no matter how much your kids fight and get on your last damned nerve, don't let them play on your laptop!!
Had my TP for just over 2 months now and when i slide out the keyboard to write a sms i start typing and nothing shows up, the curors doesn;t even more along as i type. It will only sometimes work in Notes and i used excel earlier today and had to type and the curosr moved along with each button press but wouldn;t show the text. I had to move down a row to actually see what I typed.
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
mine did the same thing
when I first got mine a few weeks ago, it did the same thing. I cant tell you what caused it happen though
I search through all of the programs I had installed that effect performance and eventually did a hard reset and it started working normally.
I also had an issue with programs running very slow and the tf3d lagged bad. You should flash your rom, it makes a world of difference. If you decide to do it, look through all of your installed programs from the factory rom and make a list of what you want to keep... not all roms have everything you need installed. Then just download all the programs back to your new rom. I used NATFs V2.3 and am really happy with it.
BTW I am a newb and have never done anything like that to a phone before... I just followed the instructions on the Rom development page (sticky) and it was a breeze.
you should do it
Thanks Mike for your help.
What worries me is what would I do if for any reson I need to send the phone back to Vodafone?
I have asked for a link to the defaul Vodafone Touch Pro rom on here but nothing has turned up.
I am also just worried about doing the whole flashing thing as I just don;t really want to break it
If you follow the steps in the stickies, you wont mess up your phone. I am not sure about the vodaphone rom... would it really matter to the company what rom you have if you warranty is covering a broken component of the phone. Just drop it in a bucket of water and claim the insurance taht way??? Maybe someone else can chime in.
I can go to setup/system/screen and change the orientation to "Portrait". but it's changing right back to landscape if I put it in sleep mode and wake it up. Or if I slide the keyboard and slide back it stays in landscape.
Any clues on why it's defaulting back to landscape and not staying in portrait mode?
Thank you in advance!
Jonathan
You really need to give a little more info. What rom are you using? Stock? 6.1? 6.5? What carrier? Do you have a newer manila on there? No one can help you with the information (or lack thereof) that you have given.
It's happening with both ROM I tried (NFSFAN's WM6.5 build 14 & Mighty 21840.5.0.60). I've got the phone on MetroPCS service. Manila 2.1 I think with the Mighty Rom flash. Hope this helps, Thank you in advance -Jonathan
I dunno; have you done anything weird with Advanced configuration? There was a dude once who set his angle for causing the switch from portrait to landscape to 0 degrees, and his phone when haywire. Also, what programs have you installed, and do you have anything weird that runs at startup that you installed, like any g-config programs? Maybe you installed something that is screwing with the phone in a big way. It's just a guess. I know from personal experience that the Iris browser can screw with the phone in a big way, particularly if it switches the phone to landscape and you close it that way.
I'd suggest doing a hard reset, not installing any apps or any tweaks, and see if the phone is still acting up. If it is, then you may have a hardware problem. also, you should probably try calibrating the g-sensor. I've never done it myself, but if yours is out of whack, it may be messing with the orientation.
This happened to me as well, I tried a hard reset that only succeeded in pissing me off. Got with HTC Tech support, they pointed me toward a new sprint ROM that was released (just as bad as a hard reset) didn't work either. Then they set me up with getting it repaired, since I was still under HTC's warranty of 12 months. Just got it back last week and all seems fine now although they did not say what happened.
Sorry I can't tell you what the issue is. But try Tech Support just make sure you have the phone set up like it's fresh out of the box, make sure you check the registry as well for lingering traces of previously uninstalled programs or edits.
Hope it helps.
Good Luck
This may be nonsense but I'm beginning to get a suspicion about S2U2 potentially being the cause of data connectivity issues for me.
I'm hoping I'm wrong because it's such a great program and I've used it on my last couple of phones.
Basically when I had my Touch HD, I had to reboot it pretty much daily if I wanted my data connection to work, otherwise I would get connectivity problems, but they would always be solved by a reboot.
I never figured out why this was, even though it was mega annoying. In the end I installed a cab to do a scheduled reset each night and it helped quite a bit.
Since I got my HD2 it has behaved perfectly as far as data is concerned and has not had a single connection fail with use every day for emails & browsing, UNTIL I installed S2U2 yesterday late afternoon, then last night it failed to connect. Yes you've guessed it, a reboot solved it.
I know that's hardly conclusive and I'm hoping it's not the case as I love using this program as an unlock screen, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems like this?
I was wondering if it was somehow also linked to my carrier too. The reason for this is that my friend also had a Touch HD and used S2U2 and never had this problem but he uses a different phone company. He now also has the HD2, and has installed S2U2 again and is fine, but mine is acting up, so it seems weird that it happens to both my phones but neither of his....
I know I could remove it to see if the problem goes away but programs sometimes leave bits behind when you uninstall.
Cheers
Jim
I get problems either daily or bi-daily where I have to reboot my HD2 to get my data connection to work again, (its connected but doesn't work). Every time its solved by a reboot.
I dont have S2U2 installed. If you find the reason behind the issue let me know as I am about to start doing a search into it.
Hmmm, maybe it's just coincidence then. But why would it have worked perfectly up to that point though, that's the thing that makes me wonder.
Mine also appears to be fine in terms of still displaying the GPRS signal/sign, but trying to retrieve emails or open the browser etc gives an error. It's maddening, whatever causes it!
Same thing again this morning when I told the phone to get my emails - connection failed. Worked fine after a reboot.
I'll see what happens tomorrow. If it does it again then I'm going to uninstall S2U2 and see what happens from then onwards. If it doesn't fix it then I guess it'll be a hard reset on the cards....
Back to original HD2 screen lock from 2SUS
Dear all,
Can tell how to change back to original lock after installed disable the screen lock? I don't like 2SUS needed so long to slide...
Just uninstall it, then press your windows button and hit the lock softkey.
I've removed it myself tonight even though I'm a long term S2U2 fan.
Since installing it a few days ago I've had even worse problems with ghost unlocks than before.
Previously the only issue was accidentally cutting calls off, but with S2U2 in use (standard lock disabled) I had a text from a friend on Friday asking if I was drunk. Somehow, whilst locked in my pocket it unlocked and sent a gibberish sms!
Then today, it also somehow unlocked in my pocket and dialled my mum!
I'm just glad I wasn't playing Call of Duty when it happened or she would have just heard "Sh1t!!! You cheating f***!!! WTF??? You..... FFS!!!!" etc
But seriously - I love S2U2 from previous winmo phones but it's made my HD2 worse so I've uninstalled it tonight sadly.
Isn't there a working fix for these bastard hard buttons yet? I LOVE this phone but the bloody hard keys are ruining it.
Hi Cret,
Thank you so much for your response. I did remove 2SUS and selected the Screen Lock from pressing the Power buttom but it doesn't auto lock each time...
Can you tell what to do such change Registry or I need to restore the original setting?
Thank you, dude.

he wanted it back... not disable...
Go to HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd and change DeviceLockWhenSuspend to 1
This should re-enable the lock...
Thank you very much!
I will try to see it works on my HD2.
Mine was the same ie the lock would not return.
I already had BSB tweaks installed which had a toggle for the lock though, so I just activated that.

Hi, did uninstalling S2U2 help on the connection failures?
Well, I only removed it last night but so far yes. I have not had to reboot the phone this morning and the data is working flawlessly.
Also - and this is a biggie! The battery life on the phone is MILES better without S2U2.
Normally the phone would be down to about 70% by lunchtime without even doing anything and it's still on 96% now - that's a massive improvement!
However, one thing has occurred to me as a possible cause of these issues - I've realised I was using a very old version of the program - v 1.5.
I think I'll try the latest one - 2.22 and have a look through the changelogs to see if there's anything mentioned in there along these lines.

Here's two fixes right away in the next version relating to battery use:
- fixed the v1.50 issue of occasionally high CPU usage during idle.
- save more power than the old version when the device is sleeping.
v1.6
- removed option "Power Save" as the power leak problem is found & fixed.
I can't really be arsed reading through the rest of it but it's obvious there have been power issues addressed by subsequent versions so I'll try the latest and see how it goes.
The MR2 update is out on the PCD site. Looked in some of the forums and nobody has mentioned it. Anyone install yet? I'm still downloading. Hoping for an updated Sense at least. PCD site only mentions a general update for VZNavigator, Contact Cards and Time Stamp.
Edit: I've downloaded and run the update and now I'm stuck at the starting HTC screen (now green letters on white) with the version numbers in red in bottom left. I've re-booted and sticks at the same place.
I'm having the same problem. I've heard you can go back to the MR1 update. Also, sounds like people who unlocked their phones are the ones having the issue. Anybody else have any info?

When composing email or text messages, type the first few letters of the recipient’s name in the To field to see a list of possible matches.
Quick setup of common email account types and an option to set up an email account manually.
However there is a problem with the update. You will need to relock it apparently to load it. Here is what they found:

I'm going to now try a straight dump and rebuild to see if it is just something in their updater thats causing the issue.
Yep, It is the boot.rgu and the OEM_FLASHDRV_1.DLL that's causing the problem!"
It is Sense 2.5, as I mentioned back in March.
One thing I noticed, is that my customized taskbar doesn't work correctly on this ROM. Some icons remain stock while others change. Some DLL's have changed names I guess.
They also mentioned that the task manager is gone, does that mean that I cant choose what to close and when to close it now?

I got it last night but haven't had a chance to check it out.
You were right Brent!
I forgot about loosing the HTC taskbar. Looking forward to finally be able to add customs tabs now that I have HTC sense 2.5.
I'm having a problem getting my phone re-locked. I've gone back to the stock ROM, but when I try to run the RhodiumW_SPLRelocker_063.exe nothing happens. Any suggestions or can anyone point me to a thread that can help? Thanks!
UPDATE Sorry I'm a dufus, forgot to run it As Admin

I thought you were the one that said we would get it cause you saw at Verizon or something? If not nevermind lol.
Thanks I will check out that task manager.
One more thing, is their a cab to add appointments to home tab? I know there is cookie (which I did check out) but I really just want appointments without all the extra stuff. Thanks!

I really don't know. I am not upgrading until I find a solution to getting a programs tab that actually works.
I had mentioned in a comment over at WMExperts that the taskmanager is gone... I now realize that you have to go into the All Programs to launch it, which is a drag. I miss the one on the top-right built in to the title bar
I added taskmanager to the quick links so it'll do but I'd really prefer the old one. I also miss the appointments on the homescreen. Boot time is even longer, but flipping through emails, photos and appointments in much snappier. I really enjoy the HTC Peep Twitter tab. The settings tab makeover is well appreciated too.
Overall, I really like this update though
I noticed some slow down with peep so I took it off. It was cool to have it right there but I will stick with the awesome moTweets. Too bad you couldn't add that to a tab.
edit: I do like that it locks now when I hit standby button. No more calling people by accidently (or less frequently).
htc task manager can be added so that the top right arrow is there again. It is attached to the following thread a few times. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=125428
Hey guys Mr. X over at PPCGeeks went through and fixed the MR2 VZW Update...go to PPCGeeks website (or MightyROM website) to download it..
Did they put the good soft keyboard with the 'control' key back in this rom?
I installed MR2 yesterday and everything went fine. Until it came to running for a few hours. When the phone first boots up, everything's great, but after about an hour, it just slows to a crawl. None of the animations are smooth, just recently it took five minutes to flip from one text message to another. But, that hasn't really been so bad as about every other time I go to turn the screen back on, it just doesn't turn on and the only thing I can do is pull the battery.
Yeah, the quick links are nice, the new settings page is great and the email/text message pages flip in the same direction (seriously, who missed that in MR1?) but I went from having a nice, reliable, snappy phone, to a brick of **** that I can hardly stand to use.
I'm going back to MR1.
I was running a custom ROM on Verizon TP2. I first tried to installed the MR2 ROM and as others have said it hung on bootup. I held vol down while pressing reset and the bootloader screen will come up and if you are connected to the PC will go in to USB mode. I ran Task29 which uploaded fine but the TP2 still hung on bootup. I then went to the bootloader screen again and ran the re-lock utility over at PPCGeeks. Tried to book and still hung. Went in to bootloader again and this time reran the MR2 installed which worked and finally it boot all the way up. I still did a clear memory 1234 and everything again booted up with no problems.
I am concerned about the guy above who reported that it would slow to a crawl but many that's a result of not running Task29? Hard to imagine such a fundamental problem. I mean, I don't doubt that it happened but I can't imagine that it will happen on all installs. I just installed mine a few hours ago so I guess I'll know by tomorrow.
Good luck!!

This is/was a "clean" phone. never unlocked, no custom roms, just straight from Verizon to me to MR2 so running task29 doesn't seem necessary.
shrug. when I get some free time next year, I'll call vzw and ask them wtf happened.
