Not sure if I am even calling them the correct thing but on my Alltel branded touch pro when I pull the keyboard out I get a series of 8 buttons including the calendar and contacts. everywhere else when I choose calendar or contacts it brings up agenda one that I am using for a replacement. how do I remap these soft keys/buttons to also call those programs and not the default windows files?
Thanks

hi friends of the net,
help pleeeease.
when i go into go into calendar i get numbers come up and not letters when the key pad is closed, if i open phone to type on key padi can get the letters, if any numbers have been entered already the numbers do not delete and i have to press the home key and then go back to it again before it lets me write anything, this also happens in internet explorer! after this has happened if i try to access contacts via home page or via menus it does not let me access them.
also my i bar/cursor vanishis sometimes when i am in text messaging.
tried factory reset and it still happens, also had a new phome sent out and the new one does the same!!!! assume its software fault on many phones.
Can you vox owners try these out...
This is regarding my friends phone, member - Wezog. Ive taken a look at the phone and im just wondering if any of you guys out there have these problems?
1 - Make sure your phone is closed (qwerty keyboard is hidden away), using the right soft key or by going into the start menu select the calendar application.
Once in here start typing an appointment, do you find that you have numbers appearing instead of letters?
Its as tho you cannot type any appointments using the keypad, but you have to open up the e650 and use the qwerty keyboard to enter information.
Do you HTC owners get the same problem or is it just the Orange e650 owners, or is it just my friend being unlucky? (being his 2nd phone to do exactly the same thing - hes let orange know about this but apparently has to decide what he wants to do)
2 - Once youve tried the Calendar above, exit out of it and then try and select CONTACTS as tho you were going to call someone either by using the left soft key or by actually going into Contacts in the start menu.
Do you find that Contacts dont display and nothing comes up? My mate has to then soft reset his phone to get things back to normal again.
Thanks in advance for your help, its very appreciated.
Cheers
Could someone try the steps below and post here...please
Would appreciate you guys following the steps below and letting me know if you get the problem, or not. Cheers.

Frankly - actions like creating an appointment is why I chose a phone with a QWERTY keyboard after all
But for the sake of your test I tried to create an appointment on my closed Vox and it worked.
Pressing a pad key repeatedly scrolls through its lowercase letters + the number, starting with the first letter. The *-key switches between lowercase and uppercase.
Contacts open and work normally after closing the Calendar.
I have an unbranded HTC S710 with the original ROM.
The behaviour you describe is definitely weird. And it happens also after a "Clear Storage" / Hard Reset ?
I wasn't sure how to ask this so bare with me.
I have an ATT tilt with the HTC ROM on it. When I go to phone mode and am looking at my keyboard, I have the smartdialing box, the keypad and then three boxes upper-left side = LEFT ARROW (delete), VIDEO CALLING icon, and CALL LIST icon.
VIDEO calling doesn't work and I don't understand what those icons in the CALL LIST (are they received calls? Dialed calls?) are all about. I was wondering if I could switch what those three buttons do? I can't find any ability to change those in OPTIONS..
I suspect that further modification will require cabs or ROM updates?
I have imprecise fingers so the keypad is excellent- I don't want to change that at all.
Thanks guys
yeah.. me too flashed my 1 day old tilt with the htc stock rom... and the dialpad sucks..... no "CALL" button on screen....
Now have to use the keypad and fingers to dial a number and pressing the green call button to actually call... it was quite annoying at the beginning... but now I am gettin used to it.
Still if any registry editing could be done in order to remap the 3 buttons on the right hand side of the dial pad screen, it would be great....
Except for this option, the HTc stock ROM is gr8888888888 !!!!!!
anyone?
There has to be a way to play with the HTC dialpad?
Screen shots?
I like the default dialer.

ok I know this is a painfully dumb question but I've searched and can't find any solution. How do I edit my Kaiser's registry?
Thanks
I've spent hours trying to figure out how to remap some of the keyboard buttons & have yet to figure it out. The internet button opens up IE instead of Opera, the calendar button opens up the standard calendar app instead of the Agenda One calendar I loaded, and there's no tab key. I've tried using AEKeyboard mapper, but the instructions for using the program are lousy & I wasn't able to get it to work.
There's a file in \windows called eT9.Raphael.wwe.atnt.kmap.txt that appears to do the key mapping. Maybe someone with more knowledge can take a look at this.
I use AE Button Plus, works great.
I have a Fuze with Goodlink installed, but the soft key for contacts in the phone application still point to the outlook contacts rather than the goodlink contacts. Is there any way to reset these softkeys and point them to another aapplication. I see lots of threads of changing the soft keys on the today screen, but none for the phone app. Thanks
Is there a way to change the apps associated with the email and messaging keys on the slide-out keyboard? I have other apps set to run as default (GoSMS and Gmail) but the keys still open the stock apps.

Are you on stock? or at least have root?
The keypad unlike the onscreen keypad gets special treatment. All the buttons for a phone are mashed together into a set of numbers which can be keypads, functions, and miscellaneous things, anything not the screen. Unfortunately keypads seem to not be well supported. On the phone a text file
/system/usr/keylayout/sec_keypad.kl
sets each key to do one of a short list of possible things. It would be easy to disable the mail and txtmsg key, but I'm not sure if possible to easily add other options.
With root the file can be pulled to computer and edited, with CM10 at least a few things can be changed, mostly the search key
Settings->System->Hardware keys
I personally have just learned to live with the stock messenger, since it seems to be directly started from several places, (keypad, intents, probably something else too?)
