Battery Helping - General Questions and Answers

HI all Last night I Fully charged my HTC 3G and sleep but when I wake up i see it have 30% of battery .....70% gone
anyone know what is the problem ???????????????

sorry I don't know what happen I post tow topic and I cant remove IT please remove one I am really sorry

This might sound stupid, but did you make sure that the other end of your charger was connected?
Alternatively, perform a soft reset and see if your battery level changes back to normal.

It may be a problem with the battery..... otherwise it could be alot of different things.
if your internet, gps, backlight was on, where receiving text messages, receiving emails, if you have push mail set up, if you have weather updating all the time.... ect ect ect
How long where you out?

Sounds like gps was left on or perhaps wifi... maybe bluetooth. Some roms on here have been optimized to reduce battery consumption. Some are like night and day. Some of the older roms for my kaiser sucked the soul out of my battery. The newer ones are barely molesting it. I would try using Battery Status Today plugin to see how many ma you are consuming during idle... with bluetooth wifi and gps and post results. I remember i had a MOTO Q Global and until i fixed it with com port hack the gps was enable all the time! barely got 4-5 hours out of the extended battery... Just throwing that out there. I also find it funny that my kaiser uses so much power that it can not charged through usb from computer unless its in standby. If i try to use it tethered to the computer you see it slowly but surely drop the battery % . Everythings turned off or down to minimum in a non 3G area go figure.

Even if all the radio devices were on, wouldn't the device be taking power from the AC rather than from the battery? I have had my device cradled at full blast a few times (not overnight though), but battery did not go down...
It could be a problem with the battery just like Joel stated...
I am only assuming that you were charging the unit overnight. Sorry if I am misreading your post.
BTW, do you have S2U2 installed? It has happened to me that the device wakes up due to an event reminder and the screen does not turn off because of S2U2. I am running 1.37.
Just throwing it out there.

I do it again tonight and turn off all thing and see what happen then tell you
I have one another question whaaaaaaaaaaay anyone don't cook room for HTC ?3G

Battery from 100% to 73% in 12 hours without doing nothing !!!

Hi to all of you !
I hard reseted my device and made this simple test.
Charged the battery to 100%, left the touch cruise on my table without doing nothing for 12 hours, then checked the battery status again ->73%
This does not seems normal to me !
Anyone else has this problem??

it depends on what rom you are using.
I also heard that by hard reseting or flashing other roms, you are erasing something on the memory and you need to cycle your battery like 4-5 times in order to work properly, yet again i might be wrong.
I am using the official WM6 french rom !
I also instaleld ACBTaskman and try to monitor battery usage but the POWER(mA) value is N/A when the USB cord is unpluged, is this normal?
Should I make the test with the USB cord pluged in ??

"without doing nothing"
That might be the problem. Perhaps if you left it without doing anything then it won't use up quite the same power.

Bloody foreigners?
Are you sure not falling in bug HTC models with GPS? Excessive battery drain CONFIRMED - FAQ added?
Hello,
Are you sure your phone does not automatically connect to the Internet so as to get those weather reports?
Is the HSDPA turned on? (Settings -> Connections -> HSDPA icon) If you do not need this, then set it to Off, Windows will prompt you to reset in order for this change to come into effect.
Is Wifi turned on? This drains the battery quite quickly
Does the backlight switches off when your phone is not in use? (Settings->System->Backlight icon). If not, make sure it does!
Finally, I use PowerGuard which is free. It shows you a negative number for the amount of mA your device uses (i.e. your device draws current from battery), and when you plug in the charger it shows a positive one, indicating the battery is recharging. Mind you though, it will not measure anything, if your device is in the "off" state.
When running no program, I get a current consumption of around -35mA. So, according to another thread, I have the issue of the GPS bug... Frankly, I have never been able to have a current consumption of 1..3mA as this link suggests:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371734
If anyone else has managed to get that current, please let me know!

I bet as an english speaking person you probably speak 3 languages (english, english and english!)
Are you sure your phone does not automatically connect to the Internet so as to get those weather reports?
NO weather update is disabled !
Is Wifi turned on? This drains the battery quite quickly.
NO wifi is turned off

Yes it does switch off

I also use powerGuard, so should I set the PDA not to turn itself off so that I get a constant reading of the battery mA ?
What is the "off" state? Is it when I press the power button for 1 second?
I seem to see some power consumption peak every 5minutes for a couple of seconds (-300 to -400 mA), but have no idea where they come from ? Everything is disabled, my TC has just been hard reseted ?
Any other ideas?
Dag
What are you using 3G or GSM?
If you are using 3G and the radio reception is poor ...
TDO
3G is enabled in the phone, but it is mainly connected using EDGE or GSM.
I don't have 3G network at home!
ok, what about the HSDPA?
Is it feasible to disable 3G? I have no idea how 3G works, can it be the case that since it is not feasible to get a signal, your device having 3G turned on consumes most of its battery trying to find a singnal?
Battery can be drained faster if the signal reception is not very good...
If i leave the phone switched on with nothing running, i do not have those peaks you mentioned.I would say 400mA is quite high...
If I want to really check my TC, should I let the screen always on (with the lowest light) or should I tell it to turn the screen off after 2 minutes or so?
It seems that if the screen goes off the measure are not made any more by PowerGuard !
What do you think?
Yes it goes off, so I adjust it so it does not switch off after a couple of mins. I would not bother leaving it on, all night long, I guess, if you leave it on 5-10 mins it should be representative of what happens.
While in this mode (screen on, but dimmed), I rarely have a consumption above 200mA (that is -200mA), the usual one is around -35mA. I get some spikes as well, but certainly not -400mA.
If the screen goes off and leave it like this for say a min, and then switch on the screen again, (by pressing the power button once), I can see a really very low consumption for a few seconds. Although powerGuard does not measure battery drain while screen is off, it seems that power consumption does go down a little bit, when you leave the device without doing anything.
To be honest, I do not know what will happen if i leave mine overnight and unplugged. Maybe I get the same power consumption as yours....
How bright your screen is? Mine is really low, on the second line from the left, for both battery power and external power....
ok I got it! I made some test tonight and found the same results as yours. I also set the screen brigthness to its lowest possible level and get an average of -30 to -35 mA. I have peaks to -200 mA pretty often.
The peaks to -400mA was a misreading of the scale, sorry!
So know we know we have the same device and the same problem, what can we do about it !
Could it be a battery problem? Mine is a HTC model : POLA160, 3.7VDC, 1350mAh made by "Total wireless solutions".
What's yours? what's language is your devie in? Should we try on of the cooked 6.1 rom for the cruise?

Turn off the radio completely.
If the peaks disapear you know that you have a poor receiption.
Than the behavior is normal and you can't do anything. (every phone will show the same)

hi again,
i think i am fairly ok with the current consumption. Basically, I will listen to a couple of hours of music using core player every day, sometimes more, sometimes less. I may make a couple of phone calls as well... Depending on how long i spent listening to music, starting from 100% around 8am, I end up with 60-80% around 8pm.
60% after listening music for quite long (few hours) plus watching some video while in train, maybe 30 mins of video or so...
80% if i listen to music maybe for 1-2 hours max.
Mind you though, the battery meter will go down from 100 to 90 quite easily, but it will not go down from 60 to 50 so easily. I was trying to drain the battery one day, and while it showed around 60% I let it overnight. I do not remember the exact reading, but the next morning it was quite above 40%...
Essentially I would say this is a device which consumes quite lots of power, I always recharge it when i come back home. I reckon, it would not last beyond 3 days on a single charge, which is something I have accepted.
For long journeys in train or while waiting in airports, I know the battery will not last long, and in such cases I am sure I would like to watch a movie, or use messenger over GPRS or if I am in the airport maybe use WiFi... For these cases, I ordered a separate battery, my guess is, it is as big as the phone though
http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=12207
However when I am travelling, I always carry a handbag so I can keep the big battery in it. This is a 5400mA battery, and I have heard other users being happy with it. (HTC Cruise has an 1870mA I think)... There is also a battery for HTC Cruise which is 2200mA and you can put it in the phone actually (with a different back which also ships with the battery). Of course, this may not be an option for you..
Maybe switch it to Airplane mode and see what happens?
I am leaving mine switched on tonight as well, just out of curiosity, so I will let you know tomorrow
I am looking forward to you response!
I hard reseted my device again this morning, took away my 8gb card and installed PowerGuard again
Dag
Hello daghood,
I have to say I did that test and I think I have a quite considerably less power consumption than yours :/
Fully charged yesterday, took it off the USB at around 23:30. As of now, 9:40, I have an indication of 94%
I must admit I do not know what "Turn off the radio completely" means; this was suggested by another member (TDO). Does it imply turning on the airplane mode, where all communication features are disabled? I am not sure this would normally cause a dramatic decrease in power consumption, (I think someone mentioned it goes down from 37 to 30-35), BUT, if the source of the problem is in communication features, it should be helpful in your case.
If you disable all the telecom features and the power consumption is ok, then it means that something is "wrong" with the networking features (GPRS, GSM, EDGE, 3G, whatever, I do not know).
I know I asked this previously, but is that HSDPA disabled? Also, is there a way to disable 3G? I am sorry for asking these again, maybe it is simply a case of bad signal reception, I don't know...
mines idle consumption is 1% per hour with:
screen off
wifi off
bluetooth off
3g off
edge off
phone on
only quickmenu and batterystatus running
1% per hour = 100 hours, so maybe HTC meant 450 hours if the phone is off?
or it can be the stock wm6 version.......

Extend Battery Life on Touch Pro

Well i have 2 phones, a mogul (no service)
and my new htc touch pro.
Mogul has been in a drawer for 2 weeks now, and still STILL has battery life.
got me thinking. it has no service, so i put it into airplane mode..
so basically its just sitting there.
so i began to think, why does my HTC TP die in no time.
then i remembered, im running Gmail via Imap using flexmail.
basically this connects to the internet, and has a live connection to my gmail email.
so all day long its tracking my gmail,
i went into flexmail, and turned idle mode off, and set it to check email every 15 minutes.
i just did this right before i typed this, so i will post in the morning how it worked out.
if nothing at all this may inspire some of you to look at things your phone is doing that you didnt realize.
i update in morning.
I have mine set to check 2 accounts, a hotmail account every 4 hours and my pop account every 30 mins. I also have it set to auto disconnect data after 3 minutes idle, radio mode on so it can still receive calls. On average when I go to sleep for 8 hours and get up, I get a drop of 3%-4% battery during that time. Not bad at all. My tilt drops at least 8%-10% with the same setup.
ok, how do you have it set to drop data after idle time.
this may help in my quest.
I have mine disconnect after 1 min idle, check hotmail and regular e-mail once every two hours, and try to keep all extraneous programs from accessing Internet without me knowing. I can get up to about two days' normal usage (as of right now, 2:33pm, my battery is about 35% on its second day without a charge).

pssst how do you guys do this?
It seems everyday there is a new thread about a possible solution to the TP battery issue. I've ran the most basic test possible. Mogul by TP, both hard reset, both with radios off. Removed both from charger at 0700 before work. Got home at about 2100. Mogul was at %90 and TP was at %60.

Use Advanced Config. Left softkey brings up more options, to disconnect data after a certain time is one of them

LOL! I laughed so hard I just had to comment. Just in case you were serious.
Soft Keys are the onscreen buttons usually at the very bottom of the screen. I.e. on the Home screen Calender and Contacts would be soft keys.
Except for the Raphael, on most HTC WinMo devices most softkeys have hardkey equivalents that are usually directly under the softkeys.
Well i now have a battery life of a few days (not phoning a lot or using Wifi alot) Also only a drop of 2-3% during the night.
I installed the RomeOS 1.51 whithout any modifications, but if i install the HTC Task manager my battery drains in 1 day (sometimes in 9 hours) so i'm not using that tool anymore
This isn't exactly relevant to the email conversation, and I suppose I could find one of the other 300 battery threads to post this in, but I made a bit of an accidental discovery too.
I had to make a trip for about 10 days and chose to only take my other phone with me. I left the fuze fully charged and without the sim card in, and with gps, wi-fi, and bluetooth turned off (all radio stuff was off). When I got back, at least 11 days total time gone, the battery was sitting at either 66% or 76% (was a few weeks back, I forget)
Not a huge revelation since there should be virtually no power drain with screen off and no active radio, but it further enforces the theory that the radio is a prime suspect for battery drain...and radio roms in particular are worth testing.
I agree that the drain has to do with the Radio.. I have a sprint touch pro and it will drain in a couple hours..
I left it sitting on the table a couple days ago, It was sitting for 2 days and when I checked it it was only down to 60% I also had bluetooth and wifi turned ON. The phone radio was turned off.
I thought the phone was turned off so i did not mean to test it like this but i thought it is worth mentioning.
wifi on and connected
bluetooth on but nothing connected
Phone radio turned off.
2 days sitting and the battery only down to 60%
This phone usually drains to 40% in 4 hours just sitting on standby in my pocket. Does this not proove it is the sprint radio killing the phone.
If you're running a default ROM and haven't changed the power saving settings, wifi turns off when the device auto-sleeps.. bluetooth remains on but by it's design its power draw is very minimal without an active connection.
The phone radio maintains a constant connection to the cell towers, and it doesn't have a deep sleep mode (it has to remain ready to wake the rest of the phone up when a call/sms/mms comes in) - if for whatever reason it's signal drops below a treshold, and it starts hunting for different towers etc. it'll bump it's transmitter up to full power for a period of time..
As long as you're maintaining an active connection to the cell tower, there's gonna be power drain. On the GSM side of things you can minimize it by locking the phone to GSM until you need 3G, the nature of GSM allows it to use less power both in idle and active transmission modes than WCDMA.
As I have tested and re-tested different ways to conserve battery life I can honestly say there is no miracle cure to make it last longer. If you're burning through lots of data (via 3G, HSDPA, etc) you're gonna have even less life. Moderation in usage seems to work best although that's not a viable option for most of us, myself included. With all the talk about better drivers and power plans, has anyone looked at the possability of the battery being crappy? Could it simply be not enough juice for a device of this caliber?

You're getting unusually good life. In a good week, I get about two days out of a single charge. When I'm not using several features, the battery drain is approximately 30%-40% in one day. This would be a light workday. More times than not, the drain is around 60%-70%.

Battery drain in standby issue?

Hi all,
My 6 days old Sensation (Vodafone contract UK) discharge a huge amount during Standby (200-350mA). I got the number via Battery Widget Pro 1.65. For the first few days I did deplete the battery fully before charging it to full. Today I have factory reset it to the original condition at around 4pm with 58% battery full. Now at 9pm, it is only 18%. During this time, I spent about 1 hour with the phone, the rest is standby. I set the widget to monitor with 1 minute interval and when looking at the log file, it can be seen that the phone consumed from 200-400mA during the standby time. Coming from HD2 with Android modded 3-8mA standby consumption, this is a huge huge dissapoinment!
Is this because of my battery or is this my phone? Should I ask for a replacement? What about you, did you see similar pattern?
Thanks,
Duong

Ditto!! So annoyed since I too am coming from HD2 where HyperDroid's consumption had dropped to a flat 2mA in standby. This is insane for a native android device. Not to mention the heating while playing games and most importantly, the front facing camera producing upside down image during fring video chats.. grrr!
Dunno what the cause OR solution is (besides switching over to a custom rom if and when the BL gets unlocked and people like pongster develop for this device)...
Overall, sexy device but disappointed with such major holes left unattended..
A little offtopic but was a battery related questions and did not wanna start a new thread so posting here -
Does anybody know of if there's any app which can get the battery percent to show in the top bar instead of the default indicator?
Thanks

Any ideas on how I can do that? I tried using current widget but I guess because it's not rooted, current widget showed me a log of 0mA all throughout (yeah rite! hehe)
when I figure it out myself I'll let you know.
Current things I found that killed my battery over night: VTOK & Google Latitude
I went into Settings --> About Phone --> Battery --> Battery Use and checked, and it says display is eating most of my battery.
As far as mine, I get about 12 hours of battery life with standard usage, with the display eating most of the life, so if you're saying the screen is off, you might get different results...

well it certainly sounds like a part of it is specimen issue.. here's my latest experience... last few times i have let it completely discharge and then charge back while the phone was off so i dont mess with it... once 100% charged, i switched the phone on and received a call.. a 25 minute conversation ate away 15% of my battery... LOL...
then, (now it gets better)... in 2 hrs of standby, the phone was at 60% which means it lost another 15% battery in 2 hrs of "standby".. im not sure if i can even call that state a "standby" anymore...
anyways... im wondering if its worth pinning hopes on rom development on our forum or should i just return this and go with something like nexus S which, O well, I can live with... atleast it has a 3300mA batterypack available... what's the use of kickass speeds and features if i have to use a phone like a desktop..
Hey, I have pretty bad battery drain during stand by as well I recommend trying to adjust the sync accounts, esp HTC hub and how often it updates that should improve it...I have a bunch of HTC widgets set up so im suspecting that being the reason for battery drain during stand by also adjust your email update setting accordingly. Every little bit helps!
Battery gauge stuck at 100%
Another one slightly off topic - but why start another battery thread.
It is the second day with my Sensation, and since I took the phone off the charger this morning, the battery gauge has been stuck at 100%. All other apps reading the battery status (e.g. Battery Widget) show the same number. I rebooted the phone multiple times, replaced the battery - nothing - permanent 100%. Has anyone had a similar experience? Did I get a perpetuum mobile ?
BTW the readings were fine yesterday.

Thanks for the pointer.. I will surely try that and see if it makes a difference..
That being said, call me crazy but it just occurs to me that HTC should be putting in some minimal efforts to check off basic quirks like battery consumption and QC. I mean all of us are spending a buttload of money on these devices year over year and then we rely on our devs here to give us basic functionality. Back in the days the reason people joined forums was to tweak devices.. Now it almost feels like we might as well expect only the hardware for the price we pay... disappointed!
Anywho...
I fully charged the phone before I went to bed last night. Eight hours later, the battery is at 10%. Is there something wrong with the battery?
Try using the Spare Parts app to see what's really using the battery in detail.

My Raphael is dying...

My raphael really is working really bad last times and unfortunately i wont be able tu buy a new phone for another 2 or 3 months...
Im using energy rom. Dunno if it matters tho.
1.My problem is my raphael battery or something around it. When i charge it to 100% and then just keep it locked in my pocket it will easily last a day or even more. BUT if i only start doing something it will turn off after a few minutes or even SECONDS... What the hell? I cant use it at all... It has been like that for few weeks... But it was perfectly fine before. What's strange , if i turn it on again after some time it will again have some pretty high battery percentage allowing me to do something for another few minutes. Has anyone experienced this? Is it problem with my battery? I do not want to buy a new battery for those 2 months.
2.Is there any way to lengthen the battery live? I have heard something about putting it in the fridge (0.0) but don't remember what exactly...
3.What's the best way to charge my phone by connecting it with usb to PC? In work i cant use my charger.
I've never really had great battery life with any mobile phone. However, I imagine that you can gain a few hours/minutes by disabling the background data. I usually charge up my phone over night and it lasts till I put it back on the charger. However, I have run it down to about 10% a few times.
Well... I don't know what to do... I switched back to manila ROM , changed radio, disabled 3g, wifi, backlight as low as possible... And it didnt really help much...
It's like that. I load it to 100% , hide it in my pocket and it will last from morning to late afternoon if left unused.
But if only i start to use it will turn off by itself after 5(!) minutes... That's not normal i think... The strangest thing is that it started to be like this so suddenly.
I don't know what else to tell you. It does seem rather odd but if you are just going to get another phone anyway, I'd try to tough it out till then. Do you remember exactly when you noticed this behavior? Has anything changed during that time?
Well... my charger broke like few weeks ago and i started chargingmy phone by connecting it to the pc... Could it be the reason?
Is your battery swollen in any way? If it is, that could be the cause of bad battery life.
Come to think of it, one of my batteries seem slightly swollen and even though it is the oldest of my three batteries, it still works on occasion (when I use it). Now on the other hand, I don't constantly charge my phone via laptop. I hearsay, that doing this somehow *may* change the lifespan (possibly behavior?) of the battery. I can't say for certain as I don't usually charge my phone in this manner. Additionally, I try not to continuously charge my battery to 100% (rather 80% is what I look for) and I also try wait till my battery is at least 30% before I put it on the charger. I have read that this is the "optimal way" to charge and discharge your battery (or li-ion batteries anyway).
Perhaps you can try to do this and tell if there is a difference? I almost want to say that even through this, there is a slight chance that you'll notice an increase of battery life but perhaps, it'll be more consistent instead of the rapid discharge. Also, this could be a telltale sign that your battery is on its way out? You might want to keep that USB cord handy in the meantime and try to keep the battery levels between 80 and 30%.

Now when i looked at my battery i see it is REALLY swollen. 0.0 Ehhh anyway, i am changing the phone pretty soon so i dont care that much...
@R^7Z
It's not so easy , you know... It will show 3-4 bars of energy (max is 4, windows 6.1) and it will just turn off... Meh, i am glad im changing it soon
Ah, I forgot you were using a stock ROM and not a custom ROM. So, what do you see when you tap the battery icon/top curtain?

I think I solved the ICS fast battery drain... simple solution

I have a Galaxy Note and updated to ICS about a month ago....
Like many of you I also experienced fast battery drain, around 10% or more per hour, without usage. even more when I use it. 5 hours with moderate usage.
I am on unlimited data plan so 4G is always on.
I also tried fully charging the phone before going to bed at 11pm, woke up at 6am and battery already at 20+%, that's when I was sleeping, no use at all.
For a month, I have been charging my phone 2x a day!
I was very frustrated and wanted to go back to GB.
I was researching for weeks for the solution (also, checking for ICS updates almost everyday, waiting to see if Android had found a solution already), no one seemed to have a concrete solution, some suggest resetting, formatting etc.
These were so complicated for me I didn't even dream of doing them.
3 days ago, I accidentally switched off my 4G connection.
I didn't realize that the connection was off..
I was happy to see my battery charge was still at 98% after an hour, after 2 hours, light usage 95%.
"What's happening?"
Then I saw that my 4G was off.
Now, I was thinking 4G connection was the culprit... but I wanted to explore more and see if there was an app that could be causing this....
I checked my apps that used data and nothing was on, then I checked my sync settings, This is where I found out that I had so many accounts that had SYNC ON! Twitter, facebook, gmail, samsung e-mail etc.
So, I tried an experiment.... I stopped SYNCING everything.
It worked!
For one day, maybe 12hrs. (light usage with 4G connection on, just light usage, I checked my gmail by using the refresh button) 75% left on the battery!!! Wow!!
Then I thought "come on...gmail and android? Same owner/company right? I'm going to try to turn ON the GMAIL SYNC, I'm sure there won't be a problem"
I was right!!!
Now on my second day with 4G connection ON, Sync Gmail ON, medium usage, maybe 20-30min of phone calls, 30 or more texts, email and around 10 minutes of internet surfing.
9 hours unplugged and battery only at 70%!!!
I am very happy!
Oh, last night, I think only about 8-10% of battery was used (6 or 7 hours of sleep only 8-10% used....) nice!
For those who have not tried it yet... please try it... I hope it also works for you.
I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully help others that are, i'm sure, also already so frustrated with ICS.
I apologize for the long post.
Cheers!
so in other words disabling sync for apps that use networks poorly, over a high power useage radio.
its not really a solution, more of avoiding the problem . I know sync falls under android os in the data usage. which means to disable its bg data disables it all, so the real solution is to apply bg data restrictions to sync list as well to cover all ways of data access.
evidence of this is that Facebook ignores bg data restrictions( no big surprise there)
I think there is something wrong with my twitter app?
maybe I changed my password in my home page but did not change it in my twitter app and the app kept on trying and trying to log in but can't, maybe this caused the fast battery drain?
I didn't check it yet, maybe one of these days, but now, I'm happy... I really don't need to sync twitter all the time anyway.
Guys, check your accounts and sync... let us know what happens.
OLD NEWS.
Try this. My experience is on the AT&T Skyrocket, but from the research I've done both the Skyrocket and Note have the same problem. It's probably your charger.

You have CPU Spy, so run this test to rule one thing out:
1) Charge your phone overnight.
2) When you wake up in the morning, pull it from the charger and reset the timers in CPU Spy.
3) Let the phone sit idle for a few minutes with the screen off.
4) Refresh the timers in CPU Spy.
If your phone spent significant time at 384 mhz during that idle time and none in Deep Sleep, it's your charger. If it's deep sleeping, it's not your charger (do you use more than one charger?) To further verify the problem, restart your phone, let it sit idle for a few minutes, and check CPU Spy to see if it went into deep sleep after you restarted.
I have a couple of chargers that cause my phone to never deep sleep after I charge with them. The thing that remedies it is restarting the phone or plugging in to a "working" charger. It's a know issue, there's a dedicated thread in the Note forum where someone pinpoints the issue for the Note.
I researched a lot about battery problems on this phone, so list more specifics (do you always use the same charger, charge to full, apps, widgets, etc) and I'd be glad to help. Also, when you take a screen shot of your battery life like you did, take one of your screen on time as well. Since that's your primary drain, it's a good indicator of how your battery life is. 8 hours of battery life sucks, but it's really good if 4 hours is with the screen on.
EDIT: Here's the link to a VERY informative thread on the issue for the Note: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1519084
And one more EDIT, with a workaround: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1516565

And has worked for most Android versions.
wow.
the more stuff you have 'on' on your phone, the more battery it will use. hmmm. Do you leave GPS on when your inside a building also?
I think syncing should not be put on auto. Unless on necessary apps like email. And... email only? Facebook and what not social app, keeping track on website when you want to is prolly sufficient. Unnecessary background data mining will without doubt drain the battery.
I will PM all senior mods here on xda and suggest you for 'Elite Developer'...you deserved it like noone else
This is not development and should not be posted in a development forum.
Moved to general.
