hello
heres what i think you should check before connecting to active sync..
1. are you using vista or xp? < coz i use xp, if you use xp then heres my setting> < attached >
2. check your USB cradle or cable, try attaching the cable/cradle at the back ports of your CPU..
3. check your cable/cradle too if its working...
4.You can use a USB cable or serial cable to connect your device to your PC. Always use the cable or cradle provided by your device's manufacturer to connect your device to your desktop computer.
Connect one end of the cable to the serial (COM) port or USB port on your desktop computer.
Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device. ActiveSync connects automatically to your device.
Important Note For additional security, disable network bridging on the PC (specifically, bridging to a Remote NDIS adapter) before connecting to the PC to pass though to the Internet or a network. For more information on network bridging, see Windows Help on the PC.
Note If you are using a serial cable, the COM port you used during installation of ActiveSync must be available (not in use) for ActiveSync to connect to your device. If you have freed the COM port for other uses, on the File menu, click Connection Settings, then click Connect. ActiveSync will free the COM port and connect to your device.

[Q] ActiveSync 3.8 file transfer suddenly stopped

ActiveSync 3.8 on Win XP pro SP2 using Axim X50v (WiFi or USB):
File transfer (move/copy) FROM Axim TO Desktop only goes to a temp folder in Local Settings directory and not where directed. Sync works in both directions; file transfer works FROM PC TO Axim. Connecting Axim to another computer works.
I have disabled firewall, anti-virus etc, and even in SafeMode -- no go.
What is needed to redirect files from a temp folder _PegEx~1 to proper place.
This stopped working in the middle of a good set of transfers.
TIA

iPad2 question - vs other tablets: USB connection to computer

Hi,
I'm trying to clarify something between Android tablets and iPad's. When you connect an Android tablet (Honeycomb 3.x) to a PC via the supplier's USB cable, you should see some device on your PC running Windows XP that would allow mass USB file transfers.
With an iPad, do you have to have iTunes in order to do file transfers between a Windows machine and the iPad? Does the iPad get natively get recognize by Windows as a mass storage device (or some equivalent) that allows you to move large movie files to it?
Dumb question, but I have no idea, and I'm not sure if others are being anti-apple or not...so just trying to get a fair comparison.
I have an ipad2, goclever i101 tab, motorola XOOM on all of this devices usb connection works great, but on goclever tablet is working and is not working.
