M88 and what???? - General Topics

I currently own a m88 CECT phone, now I did a lil research and have read quite a few topics but haven't found the answer I was looking for. I wanted to know was if there are any similar phones I could maybe piggyback help off of... I was good until everything became un-certified and then I did a master wipe from the settings menu but now the phone dialer wont come up.... and I'm trying to flash the ROM with the one I got off of here but i don't get a red or white screen. I actually get a blue screen and then even if I keep holding the 2 buttons down, it continues to boot up... I don't know. I believe I am just rambling at this point. anyone got any ideas?

£5 reward for a fix to my problem!

I have recently purchased a HTC Touch / ELF (So i thought) from eBay.
Turns out it was a CLONE.
To make matters worse it is hanging on the Windows Mobile screen.
Also, a hard reset is not working. Im not even sure it can do a hard reset.
There are also no Red numbers when the phone starts.. does this phone not have a boot loader?
Can i fix this phone at all? I really would love too do so..
I will pay £5 maybe more, to anyone who can get my phone working!
Payment will be made through PAYPAL.
Thanks people!
Lee.

I'm not sure, but even after thinking it may be a clone, you miiiight want to try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379318 there.
Can you take any pictures of it?
Just curious, have you tried manually entering bootloader?
Sorry guys just got a reply from another seller of the same phone on ebay.
Turns out the phone does have a bootloader..kind of.. you can hard reset but flashing is not possible.
To enter boot loader you have to hold volume up, camera, and soft reset, then middle button i belive.. i presssed it anyway..
Thanks anyway guys.

haha I'm kinda curious now, is it infact a clone?
Yep. Take a look at the link in the first post. There are tiny differences. Weight, screw placements, serial's, performance etc..

Orbit 2 White Screen need help.

Hi all.
I recently came into the posession of one of these awesome devices.
my only problem is that when turned on, the screen comes on but is just pure white.
the device seems to boot up ok as you can hear all the noises in the background, also the digitizer works as the backlight comes on when you touch the screen and you can hear windows mobile clicking away.
could this be the lcd thats broken? or could it be an issue with the mainboard?
anyone have any ideas? or have had the same problem?
i just dont wanna go out and buy a new screen to find out thats not the problem lolol.
(btw i have tried hard reseting multiple times and that dosent seem to be the problem)
thanks all.
Um how du know that you have HR properly if you cannot see the screen, or can you see it on the HR screen?
Also if you can can you see the bootloader, and have you tried a different rom, never know it may work
heya chris, thanks for the reply.
reason i know it has hard reset ok is i used a htc touch next to it to guage where the setup screen (screen calib etc) buttons were and tapped on the digitizer unitll it got to the main screen and reset itself after customisation (took friggin aages to do that lol)
then managed to fudge it to get media player running by using the arrow buttons etc.
sayin that what combo of buttons do youse to HR. ill give it a try if theres another way ;-)
For me its ok and windows key, the one beneath the send and end keys
Then when booted it will say "blah" and press send to restore. Press send then it will take about 15 seconds or so to restore then it reset's and boots up again.
To do the bootloader its the camera button and reset, but i dont know if thats helpful if you cant see the screen!!
Um is it still under warrenty if so go that route and if not try taking it apart and then try to see if any of the screen connectors are loose i think that someone has done this already on here with pictures if you want some help with it.
tried the hard reset again and still met with the same white screen. dang...
as for warranty, its an ex business phone i got through my work so no warranty, and i have since stripped it down 3 times to look for faults.
have tried slotting the ribbon cable in and out of its socket and had no luck.
hmm i would say maybe new motherboard or screen, which you prob already know by now.
Apart from that im out of ideas as to what to say would be a solution for the problem with it or how to fix it without replacing parts
cheers for all your help chris.
i think ill just have to take the dive and order a new screen.
god i hope its the screen lol

[HELP] Am I Bricked??

Hello,
I turned off the phone to install a Zagg Shield while here at work, and when I try to turn the phone back on I get 5 short vibrations and a solid green light. Nothing on the screen. When I do the combinations with the volume buttons to try to get into fastboot or whatever, it does the exact same thing. I took out the battery for about 20-30min and tried again to no success.
I am running Android Rev 3.2 if that helps.
Thank You
It finally decided to turn back on.
Very interested however to what the 5 vibrations and green light indicated..
After looking around a little this is definitely soundling like a hardware error code. I'm trying to find a list of hardware errors for the Inspire, but I don't know if it exists...
I've found a few threads other places relating this directly to a qualcomm hardware issue. (http://www.incredibleforum.com/foru...off-vibrates-5-times-green-light-flashes.html) On 3/7 on of the members of the "Rescue Squad" over there stated
To my knowledge, we have not been able to recover anyone from the 5 vibration/green light problem. I recall Doug mentioning doing an immediate battery pull then flashing a new radio as soon as this happens, and that might work. You may be past that stage but worth a shot I suppose if you can get into the bootloader again.

Still looking for qualcomm diagnostic codes....
Had this happen with several phones installing Zagg on the screen. 98% of the time if you wern't able to boot back up, chances are and most likley you got some of the liquid in between the screen and it made its way onto your main board frying your hard drive. In short a ruined phone. I have learned the hard way to stay away from Zagg because using the liquid to apply the sheild is like playing Russian roulette with your phone.
Be sure to let it dry completely before running any juice through it to avoid a short.

Please Help with backlight sleep issue

I have read this forum and many other internet sites until mys eyes cross!
I have Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 running winmo 6.5. duelboot android.
I have flashed many times and the problem isnt fixing itself.
Its like when my backlight goes to sleep I cant wake it up. I can still here the
phone ring and answer it.. just cant see anything after it has gone to sleep.
In Android i dont have this problem..
Anyone know where the registry is to do some editing??
Your help would be so APPRECIATED!!
Thanks in Advance.. Tammy

I Have the same issue. I Recently tried to flash back to 6.5, and somehow it all went wrong and i got the white screen of death. i could get to the boot loader(tri color) screen but it would just go right back to that White back ground with Green letters 'htc'. Now I finally found the post that helped getting to that tricolor screen then loading rom. IT WORKED! then i tried the sleep/ pwr button and sure enough it STILL WON'T WAKE!!!! Seems like the only answer is to break down and get the droidX. but i need windows for a 3rd party program i use....so i might just stick to the lil slide fone i have as a back up...
I just leave the light on 30% if Im expecting any txts or calls, when Im not I just turn the light out I can still hear incoming calls and if I hear a couple txt I pull the battery and stick it back in so that I can see the screen again.. its all I can do for now.
Im amazed with so many smart folks here I havent had anyone offer any fix's yet??
I have been hoping for easy registry fix.
Good Luck and please let me know if you get any help with yours??
yes, its becoming a problem. pulling out the battery to get the screen is more damage than good

[Q] Trouble with a Huawei Ascend II (and a greetings!)

Hey all. I'd simply like to introduce myself, and I noticed there wasn't a board dedicated to that. Anyway, I've been browsing through the boards and have found some very interesting threads. I want to thank everyone form the mods, admins, and other posters for making this a seemingly great community! I hope to become part of it.
Now, my current issue:
I was trying to root my phone, so I turned off phone, and turned on holding volume. Now it says "Firmware Update Step 1/2 UNPACKING" it has a grey bar (assuming for progress) and then says Update Failed with a Yellow Exclamation point. The lower four buttons are blinking non-stop.
No matter what I do I don't know how to restart my phone. Any insight? I've tried googling, but most of their methods aren't working. :? I've been told to take out the battery but I have no idea how on this phone.. ;x
Does anyone here know how to remove the battery? Would I have to like pry the phone apart? :|
Anyone here have insight about this phone/my predicament?
Thanks in advance for any and all insight.
