Android has been hacked to run on actual hardware (rather than the released emulator).
This is excelent news! Now we just hope that somehow it's also ported to our beloved Pocket Phones and the world will be happy again
Here is the how-to for Sharp Sl-C760:
http://euedge.com/blog/2007/12/06/google-android-runs-on-sharp-zaurus-sl-c760/
Great news!! But what do you mean by hacked?
Didnt they release the SDK for developers to port the OS to real hardware devices?
Or just for software development?
Software development. But I am pretty Google knows it can and eventually be ported to actual devices. Its only better for them, the ported devices never run flawlessly as their Android phone. We're their free advertisement.
Android tablet has been hot since April.. but most of them are all android 1.5 or 1.6 as said....but few android 2.1 talet...
Maybe android 2.1 is a killer for china tablet manufacturer..
but news from china anufacturer that android 2.1 is at the edge of breaking through....let's wait and see... lately...there are a few android 2.1 system tablet like:
Wiip adNeNo 10.2” google andro id 2.1 Tablet
I think is kind of copycatting(or "shanzhai",this Chinese term literally refers to themountainstrongholdsof bandits. First borrowed to describe rip-offproducts,it has evolvedto refer also to homemade products, such asvideoparodies of movies) ipad from shenzhen.
this isn't rare in China, and shanzhai quality always badly.
So topic owner(louzhu in English?) don't have too much hope...
I think that I don't have much to write here. At a time when more and more smartphones android get an update to 2.2. LG ignores our phone - LG GT540 "Optimus".
But there is a chance that this petition will change anything Let's show for lg how many of us are. Signatures are free, so sign up today! Share also petition with family and friends.

So...
Comment content:
We would like to suggest a path for the future development of the LG Optimus GT540 smartphone.
Recent developments on the Android platform have made the 2.1 version of the OS outdated and might render that version obsolete in near future. Most of the current products sold by your competitors are running Android 2.2 and some are already getting updates to the new 2.3 version of OS software.
Optimus GT540 hardware specifications is impressive and should be able to run newer OS version and be more competitive overall. Sadly, the hardware is extremely limited by current software, preventing us users from utilising the full capbilities of your device. Furthermore, we are unable to make use of many applications available to other Android users, since the 2.2 system version is the minimum requirement for them.
Qualcomm recently announced official support for full Flash for MSM 7x27 processor, which the LG GT540 Optimus features, however full Flash requires Android version 2.2 or higher to run. This is one of the many reasons to upgrade our LG to Froyo.
Such update might also generate higher sales of LG smartphones. If people would know that a phone of this brand will have the proper manufacturer's support, updates to new versions of software etc, it is more likely that when finally upgrading to newer device these people will choose LG product again.
We believe that making your product competitive and extending your user base would serve LG's interest as well. As you know the Android platform is rapidly growing and updates are the key to that success.
We hope you will understand our concern and demand.

Hi, I have seen many android phones with a decent specs that look much better than WP7 phone currently on the market.
WP7 Phones mostly use almost out dated hardware of android phones. Example, new Nokia Lumia 900 use Snapdragon 1.4ghz single core and Adreno 205 which are mostly found in last year android phones.
so if the same hardware found in android phones, is there any custom WP7/WP7.5 ROM for similar Android Phones's hardware ?
any "strong" dev can port it ?
2 questions.
there are skins that allow your android device to look like wp7. why not try that?
since wp7 runs perfectly well on single core wvga resolution so why not get a proper wp?
if i'm not wrong, wp7 is not designed to work with dual core, and anything higher than wvga resolution so it isn't that easy. also, people who like the look and feel of wp7 would tend to do my first point, while those who really want the functionality of wp7 would just get a wp, so the market isn't that big.
i could be wrong though

Whilst it is true that nearly any developer could port it seeing how close some windows phone 7 and android phones are in terms of hardware. Take the desire s and the radar for example.
However windows phone 7 is not an open source operating system like android. Effectively it is the same a a standard desktop version of windows in terms of the legality of installing it. You need to buy a license and the only way to do this is buy a phone with it pre installed. This license is also non transferable. Also Microsoft record a hardware ID for each phone they license wp7 to run on and this ID is required to use features such as the app store and xbox live. Whilst you could port it you wouldn't be able to use 90% of the features not due to incompatibility but due to the fact that the Microsoft servers wouldn't let you.
Also are you aware that by asking someone to port it you are violating the forum rules with regard to piracy?

That's rather surprising, but probably only possible because the hardware of the HD2 is *very* close to the hardware of some "true" WP7 phones, especially display resolution.
Display is important because WP7 so far is strongly resolution dependent - it simply won't run with anything else than 800 x 480. Maybe with the right drivers the OS itself would run, but countless apps would probably produce nonsense with another resolution.
im gona try this found that some devices like lumia 610 / 510 / and samsung galaxy s duos have almost same specifications but problem is that androids have less gpu and wont do with windows phone but it would be alot more faster if we do that
Spice Mobile is reportedly planning to unveil some Android devices in the coming weeks, including two smartphones on the latest version of Google’s Android OS- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Although as of now, there is no word regarding the possible specifications or prices of these upcoming smartphones, Spice is planning to launch around 5 devices this month, most of them being based on the Android 4.0 OS.
If Spice goes ahead and launches these ICS smartphones this month, Spice Mobile (SMobility) will become the very first Indian handset maker to release an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich- based smartphone in India.
Although there is a wide range of affordable Android ICS- based tablets currently available in India, only a few phones from Sony, HTC and Samsung currently offer ICS.
Spice has been the pioneer of many firsts in the Indian smartphone market, like the first dual-SIM Android Phone.
Spice generally caters to the budget-smartphone segment and thus, the new phones are likely to be in the sub-Rs. 10,000 price range.
Since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich runs on only processors of 1GHz power and above, Spice’s upcoming ICS phones are expected to be powered by processors of atleast 1GHz power.
Although this news sounds too good to be true, we should be cautious in our expectations since Indian brands often fail to offer what they promise. But Spice has a good track-record till now and we expect this phone to perform well in the Android smartphone market in India.
