xda-developers ROM image archive will be taken down

Yes, it is true, read the annoucement on top of the threads.
This means, no more hosting for the ROMs (released ones of ones created by us) this is a BIG loss as it's always a pain in the neck to great any ROM and will push ROM creation into the illegal zone
I will make my prophet ROMs available somewhere else, details will follow later.

yes i'm back, hopefully with a new ROM soon, I had to deal with a lot of personal crap, but i'm back again.

Yeah wellcome back This is good news...
As for "Microsoft's choice".... hope they burn in hell lol well in my perspective they're just trying to finish off those dedicate persons like Jesterz that are working hard to correct Microsoft's software defects...

Hopefully we can all learn from this as I think M$ just reacted to Carrier induced pressure due to lots and lots of customer complaints of bricked devices due to failure to understand ROM upgrade procedures... So please if you are reading this and don't have a clue of how upgrade procedures work, either, don't complain and deal with your bricked device (in a worst case scenario) or don't upgrade at all.

It's a shame
These guys from Redmond shoul learn to respect the work of theyr customers.
We make it possible that they get theyr monthly payment.
I hope we find a way to share our roms and tools any other way.

Yeah.. it's pretty retarded... The only bloody reason I bought an HTC device is cause I knew I could flash the rom for newer AKUs and fixes and stuff... I should've just waited for the damn iPhone.. lol....

What the panic is all about?
I don't get it why you all surrender to this Redmond threats.
Usenets have been around for decades. I am a regular user of Usenets from '95 and I can tell you that their strong arm didn't and probably won't reach there.
Why not simply post your valuable stuff there and leave our cherrished forum clean of any files whatsoever?
Just post to alt.binaries.warez.pocketpc and by the way the kind of stuff we find there is really lacking the quality we got here so the newsgroup might just improve that way.

It's so sad to see how MS is dealing with this situation. I have owned PPC's for some time know, and not until I started having problems first with my universal and recently with my prophet that I got into this community. This web site is the best thing that has happened to MS and HTC. I have singed Jester's petition to MS. I know that if this happens I shall go to PALM o iPhone. THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

History teaches us nothing.
It is not by taking the ROM archive dowm that MS can stop ROMs from going around!
Why don't they simply try to release ROMs that WOULD NOT require any interventions from the final user instead.
Looks like the "prohibitionism" has taught these guys nothing at all.

i suggest we can use http://www.mydatabus.com host to share our roms. (up to 5 G space pro person and stable).
Rapidshare, megaupload, uploading...etc are not good solutions for us to download and exchange file. Because it will be deleted in limited times.

it is yourself's private storage space, it depends on you, if delete a file or not. but when you want to share the file, you must make it public.

Any idea where i could download jesterz G4 rom? Am in urgent need of it.If someone could help me out i would be really greatful.

Does anyone know of official archives for ROMs outside of XDA ftp?

I came into this forum a couple of weeks back with a bricked prophet G4 & a O2 XDA Exec(UK). Since then not only i have been able to restore my prophet ,I have been able to learn a lot abt PPC as a whole. Its a shame that M$ feels thereatened by this forum as we have done nothing wrong except to give people choice!!! Isn't it our right to choose & develop??? Who's MS to stop us?? Where were they whan I was running from pillar to post to get my bricked prophet running....

Duttys Server's & Kaiser's Update

Hi peeps just an update My sponsored site from vexamus will be down in a couple days time and also my phone is broken, not sure whats wrong with it just one minute was working and next the phone wont even turned on.
I tried putting in bootloader mode and nothing, seems like a hardware or battery fault as it wont even charge as well.
The sponsored site has been really good but we never expect so much downloads and bandwith was going to be used and vexamus tried his best but he cannot maintain all those bandwidths space been use.
So this is my story to tell you.
I was working on v4b with wm6.1 which was almost finished it was a earlier build but was really quick.
I will updated you Guys as soon as I get any good news.

I got a rapidshare premium account as well, was looking for a ftp server has it was much easier for everyone. If nothing comes I will use my rapidshare to host files again

Hey dutty, love your roms, but do you have any start menu folder icons you could share? I need some because I don't like it being a plain folder. Do you have any?

Thanks for all the offers pm me with detaills, just to let you know the current server had unlimited bandwidth space but the download traffic was Humangos which at current vexamus is having a hard time, Thumbs up to him for starting and sponsoring me for the ftp server.
Hopefully my phone should be fixed and i can continue on wm6.1 for kaiser

Dutty I had the same problem before and it was simply I needed a new battery. Hopefully that will be the quick easy fix for you like it was for me.

Yes I am noob, new to these sites.Thank you to the guys who were actually helpfull with their posts, shabicht inpaticular thank you for the link. With my inexperiance I was unsure of where to appropriatly search for the right info. I figured that being as how I discovered the link on THIS SITE in the first place that I'd start by looking for help on THIS SITE. However all that I received were and very un-helpfull replys,there must be a lot of bored people out there with nothing better to do then to insult someone with little experiance in this area looking for some help.
I only paid $11 for the theme, addmitadly after receiving some actuall helpfull advice from others I did discover that there are better ways to improve my device.
I'm not sure how this site usually works,the site was recomended to me. I'm disapointed to see the amount of rude remarks I received when simply looking for a helping hand.

Oh wow. How did I miss this when it was first posted. This will surely be helpful when changing out that glass whenever I get around to ordering it. I found it dirt cheep, but was a little hesitant for fear of doing more damage than good. This is exactly what I needed. Thanks.

Broken Link Revival

I want to make a thread where people can post new links to files that are no longer accessible. MANY files were uploaded to megaupload, mutiupload, and other sites that have been seized or taken down. Also, sites like filefactory, No offence football (love you) are never available to download anything unless you're up at 4:37 at night... If anyone has alternate links, maybe a personal dropbox, box.net, Google Drive, or whatever you may have that provides a RELIABLE link, or can atleast share for someone who does to download, this would be greatly appreciated. I personally can only offer my thanks and a thanks button, but who knows, maybe you'll get a donation or two for saving someone's device.
