And look into the force-USB Hard Spl! You may need to change your Hard Spl! Remember to use jump spl to flash!

I usually just disconnect data cable>kill all the mobile processes on my pc using task manager>restart pc and it always works.

no you don't kill the processes on your mobile. you kill them in your TASK MANAGER application in windows on your pc NOT your pcc/tilt/kaiser/device then restart your computer and connect once windows is fully loaded.
edit:
These are the programs that are running on my computer associated with data sync:
1) WmdHost.exe
2) mobsync.exe

I killed proces on my computer in task menager ;] restarted and nothing happened...

doesn't state that in your first post. It just says you never had a connection problem.

If you manually go into bootloader and have data cable connected does it say serial or usb at the bottom?

Have you tried the suggestion at least?
Look for the original ROM of your device and find a WINDOWS XP computer and try to reflash with those 2 as suggested from above.

Do you know?

I don't think it would work. The Mamaich method is for a different problem. Yours clearly is due to Windows Vista incompatibility. I had read a couple of this type of thread in the past and the only solution was already given to you.

What type of Universal do you have? TMobile, O2, IMate...etc?
Sorry
I have a qtek9000
Before I tried my 1st upgrade I download the official ROM just in case.
I thought I had it but I can't find it. I have one copy on the PC at work, but I will only return there next Wednesday, so no big help.
I remember see a post were a member informed that he had an ftp with all the ROMS. Maybe some one remember the address. If I get, it i will post it.
Cheers.

sounds to me like it might be as simple as a dead battery.
1. what happens when you try to charge it with the wall charger?
2. have you tried switching batteries?
3. you still haven't said what you were doing with the device before this happend
4. this is totally unrelated to WM6 Forum, you shouldn't have posted this here
when you put your universal on usb with a pc on xp there is a detection? or not and are you sur that there isn t any write on the screen .
because i have the same pb in 2006 an ithink that my universal is dead an aftrer 2 day i put the universal on the light and i see v101 if you don t see to the light you don t see it because the backlight don t work.

It do not enter boot loader with light + power + reset and show no signs of life.
The light is off.when i push reset button flash the red light.
When connected to USB, PC reports "USB device not recognised"
I want a original rom for qtek9000 for test.
Anybody have this rom?
When I bricked my XDA Exec by means of hung program during the upgrade, I had: no reaction to normal Reset, no entry to Bootloader - basically a brick.
I did LeftSoftKey + RightSoftKey + Reset to do a *hard* reset (everything was lost anyway), and after that I could see "Serial... v1.01" Bootloader notification. When you connected that to a computer, it changed to "USB... v1.01" prompt.
So I just took JWright's image, and re-flashed it.
Guess what? It detected I had no image/extRom/RadioRom whatsoever then offered to re-flash them. I knew I'm OK when Radio upgrade progress indicator started to move.
It took me to get to another machine first, however. My Vista machine totally screwed up things, whereas my home XP managed to do the job.
Sitting on JWright's 2.02.02 now - very thoroughly made ROM, love Voice Command integrated with it instead of crappy Cyberon's software.

im tired

i have read the WIKI section about 5 time and i did everything correctly but when everytime i run the ruu but i keep getting this ? ERROR [202, 204] : CONNECTION
? This error message will appear when the device is not connected to ActiveSync correctly. Make sure
you properly connect the device to the PC through ActiveSync before running RUU.
but on my active sync screen the circle is green and i can sync everything else so i dont understand why it keep saying connection error

Frustrating
I know you Senior Members have dealt with a lot of stuff that turns out to be user error, but as a 20 year IT professional, and someone who has flashed many ROM's, I am sure that I have followed all the instructions, my hardware is fine and connected properly. Is it possible that something has been changed on the newer phones that has not been seen and is not accounted for by the tools and methods that have been developed to date?
Have you tried manualy putting your device into the bootloader then running the RUU? You may also try reboot the PC and then the device and try it again.

I got that error before I ran as admin.

you could also flash with a microsd card. thats always how i flash so that i know that i don't screw anything up. now i'm not saying that it is foolproof, but IMO i think it is safer than flashing via PC.

With Vista and Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, I don't bother with connection settings, I just right click the RUU, and either "run as admin" or to be totally sure, right click the RUU>properties>compatability>check the "run this program as admin" box near the bottom.
Never have had issues when I run as admin, and have flashed a more than a "few" ROM's.

Are you using the zip program built into windows? If so, STOP! You need to use Winzip or Winrar. Windows will corrupt the files!

*You put your phone in bootloader mode (3 color screen)
*Connected the USB cable and it said USB on the bottom of the screen
*Unpacked the rar file so that it is just a folder on the file system
* In the directory there should be 2 files a Kaiser_RUU.exe and the .nbh file

It sounds like you did not carefully read this.
That is also where this should have been posted. A new thread should not be started for this type of issue. I understand you are panicing. However, in almost all situations the phone can be recovered.
That said, Hold volume down and hit the reset button. It will put you in the tricolor screen. In the white it says serial. Connect it to your usb cord. It should now say usb. Now flash the STOCK rom.
be sure that battery over 50% then follow arupphental's

go to bootloader (tricolor on screen)& flash a rom, your PPC 'll be fine. when you flash ROM, PC transfer data through USB to PPC therefor not need connect by activesync.
I had the same problem after a faulty ROM from Vodafone NL, what I had to do is before I wanted to flash my ROM do a hard reset on my device (please back-up your personal data before doing this). After the hard reset, I could get a stable connection with activesync and flash my ROM
While the circumstances are different, my advice is still the same: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481527

Stumbled upon this.. and yes the advise is good, when you run the flashing utility (i.e. CustomRUU.exe), it says you need an Active Sync connection, but you really dont, you can flash it anyway, it seems to find the device via USB regardless.
ufff!!!! to me yes found right, thank you thank you to first post. (flashing from SD)
Undetected
Well i had the problem where my phone wasnt getting detected at all.... i put the stock rom and radio but couldnt put stock spl on the phone with sdcard.... after trying different computers/usb wires/settings i returned it for a new one and this one works fine.

O2 XDA Exec Won't Power On after Unccessfull ROM Upgrade

Hi...
I was trying to Upgrade my O2 XDA Exec Rom with Windows Mobile 6.5 by explode. The process went successfully till 99% and after that it ended up with Error. Then I unplugged my pda from the pc and tried to restart the device. I was surprised that the device did not respond to any of the following
Soft Reset
Hard Rest
Boot Loader mode Start (Bulb + Power + Reset)
It is totally blank screen whatever you do.
When I connected the device to the pc with usb cable, a Red Light is shown for 2 seconds and then goes off and a message comes up on the pc that "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED".
Then I tried to Remove battery from the device for a whole night and the next day morning i did all the above procedures again to get no results.

its my badluck.
If you cannot get into bootloader and you have done the steps above, then you cannot flash to another rom.......it would seem you now have a paperweight im afraid
I am still not able to revive my device. I know that it is just due to corrupt bootloader but don't know how to repair it.
If anybody ever has solution for this... kindly let me know.

Have you tested mtty?
I would recommend to PM a chef on Universal forum
Good luck,
Mtty is not detecting my device
it says can't open usb port
One More thing I have noted is that when I keep the device connected with the pc, at a certain interval of about 10-15 mintues my device's Led shows RED Light for few seconds and then turns off followed by the the "USB device not recognized" on my pc.
I hope this can be used as a hint towards reviving my device.
Regards
have you followed orbs advise above and pm a chef on that section, they maybe able to help. From my knowledge (limited on that device) i ddont think there is any recovery proceedure that you have not tried. Have u downloaded offical wm5 rom and tried it. I know and appreciate that it will probably not work due to corrupt bootloader, but what else is there to do??
To understand more, what did you do PRIOR to trying to flash to 6.5.
Did you hardspl correctly? Had you already flashed to another rom and just felt like flashing to another new rom?? Give us more detail.
Thanks for your reply
I dont know how to PM Chef.
I had used 3 other Rom versions of WM6.1 on my device. They ran very much fine on my device. But When i found WM6.5 xplode, I wished to try that too. But the rom update procedure went successfully till 99% and after that it showed an error that upgrade was not successfull. I pulled out the device and tried to restart if by all methods but I wasnt able to power on at all.
Thanks
Regards
ok, goto the thread that you got the rom off, click the chefs name and you will get a menu there to send pm, do it, he might have seen a similar problem or know how to correct bootloader.
good luck
noup really no...
Is bricked
my bro has bricked an Universal and the same led turns red no power off no bootloar no power it means the flash chip is dead!
Sorry to heard that.
He waits too long for the upgrade it tooks at least 40 minutes
then ERROR... but you know... the batt was died in middle process ( th batt was ****ed up, it say full charged but no! it was on 60 or 50%) then the stupid thing is make a hardreset.. i told him dont hR your device... justa simple reste and reinit the process... and huh! its bricked.
if you are interested on sell your parts
maybe my bro want some parts.
my advice(similar to other people):
1. Charge your batery somehow (in other device or anything else)
2. put your devce in bootloader mode and connect it to pc - it wll be detected like microsoft usb sync
3. use mtty try difrend versions becuse sometimes 1.42 does not detect it properly - read here for what to do with mtty
IMO this may be battery problem or nand chip problem - in both cases it is hardware fail

Unable to connect with activesync after misread instructions on flashing

Hello guys!
I've got a bit of a problem here, because now my mobile refuses to connect with activesync and therefore making it impossible to flash it.
I read the readme in the cid bypass folder, and didn't quite understand it, but as keen as I was on getting a new rom I did it all wrong.
I actually copied the cid bypass folder to my sd-card and ran haret.exe from the phone. A friendly penguin appeared along with some green text, and it rebooted and went black. I waited for a while, but had no patience so I rebooted it again. But after this it has been impossible to connect it with activesync! I've tried hard reset and different computers but nothing works!
I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me!
best regards
Try this.
turn your phone off and press the camera button in then plug it into the USB port
you should get a multi color screen. If you do then you can flash.
But go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909
Go to where it says EDIT and follow what it says.
Oh and when a dos box opens up and ask you things just press the return key each time.
good luck
hey man, I tried reflashing the original rom to my vox, with the manualstyle sd card flash. So now it's flashed with the original rom, but still activesync doesn't work! anybody have an idea on how to make this right?
somebody tried running haret.exe from their phone, then flashing the Uspl with ruu flasher and then flash the new cooked rom?
My phone is not able to connect for flashing while in black state (after running harET), is it stupid of me to reboot it and start it by holding camera button while plugging it in to the computer? and then flash it with the ruu?
somebody please help me?
go into settings then connections then more till you see USB to PC
in there un-tick the box which says enable advaned network.

I am confused..is it working or not? one post you say it is but you cant sink..then you say its not.????
and dont use the flash off the mem stick..use windows..
ok, sorry for making confusing posts! I'm just excited about getting it to work.
So here's the situation:
From stock phone used with exchange (turned off the exchange part before doing anything)
1. I ran haret.exe from my phone, and it rebooted into a "black state" after which I rebooted it again
2. I tried to connect it to my computer using activesync, to be able to flash, but it wouldn't connect. Activesync doesn't respond to my phone.
3. I flashed the shipped rom to my phone from my sd-card in good hope that it would reset the whole process, but it still won't connect to activesync.
So here's my problem; I want to flash a cooked rom to my phone, but I'm unable to connect it to my computer via activesync, what to do?

tried with both ticked and unticked, still nothing
Turn off your phone then keep the camera button pressed in at the same time plug it into the usb port
your should show diff colors on the screen..if so follow what it says in this link.

and do it from the pc not your mobile...
it's restored, but no activesync still
Is the cable you are using ok? or is it a new one you just got.
does windows see it when you plug it in? if so un-install active sync then reinstall it.
I'm having the same issue with Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM, activesync simply doesn't work ;/

Have you been into settings and un-ticked the box in USB to PC?
Also if you are trying to sync to office you must create a new partnership
google is your best friend.
I have no problems with sync in XP/Vista?windows 7 and office 2007
I am using FMs 1.1 WM 1.1

Windows notices my mobile (installs new drivers), but activesync doesn't register the device.

I failed to mention that I've tried the hard reset as well, no luck.
I thought about the same thing Deuse, but there's no mobile device registered, so I'm not able to delete it.
It seems that you have tried every possible method! Anyway, my suggestion is install activesync in some other PC (friend's) and connect your phone there. See if it registers the phone. If it does then it is problem with the PC and not with phone. In that case, connect phone to PC and open controlpanel>System (icon)>Hardware tab>Device Manager Button in your PC. Unfold Network adapters and see if your phone is detected properly or it is detected with an "!" mark in "Unknown/Other device". If so, delete the device and disconnect phone. Reboot PC, reboot phone connect again and let the PC reinstall your device and see if it recognises your phone.
One more way (I think you might have tried this)- Uninstall Activesync and reinstall and connect phone.
By the way if your phone is not recognised in some other PC then it seems trouble with the phone.
Thanks.
Looks like your cable is faulty. Try activesync connection through bluetooth (for testing, ofcourse you cant flash from bt ).
