This is so frustrating. I select 'New Account' follow the prompts and enter all the data (I have done this many times on other devices) get to the end and press 'Finish' it takes me back to the Outlook e-mail but the account I just creted is not there.
There are no accounts, this is driving me crazy. No error messages, it just doesn't create a new account.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers, Blair

Hi people... WM6.0 is bugging me - every time I send/receive it deletes all of my old mail... Is there any way to turn this off?
Thanks in advance!
No ideas?
I have the same issue with GMAIL, but could not find a setting on the device to stop the inbox deletes. Also, the gmail pop3 settings online are not that clear on what to do?
I have the same problem, and the only way I found to keep my important mail, is by moving them to the spam folder...
If you configure the settings for the mail account to download "All messages" then they won't get deleted unless you delete them manually (in which case they'll disappear next time you send/receive). Just make sure you've only got what you need in your server Inbox....or you've got an unlimited data plan as it may take a while to download them all!!
By default, new mail accounts are setup to download "messages from the last three days" IIRC, which is why messages older than that will disappear from the phone's Inbox on a send/receive.

Mark.

gmail has a problem that it deletes any read mail. Kinda sucks, but it happens
In the Gmail options (not on your phone, but on the webpage) you can set it to retain a copy of the mail after POP retrieval.

It's not a GMail problem, this happens with all my POP3 accounts. My retrieval settings are already on All Mail - any more bright ideas?
Hi,
I just got my phone 2 days ago and trying to get my gmail contacts to my phone. I have configured my gmail account in my phone by going into settings --> Accounts & Sync and adding an Account. I have chosen only Contacts (not mail or calendar).
Now when I open up Contacts app and go into the Menu to View --> "gmail account" and select the group I want it to display, only a partial list of my contacts are displayed. For example, I have 99 contacts in gmail group, I am able to view only about 15 or so of them on the phone.
I have tried syncing up several times but kinda hit the wall now.
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Are you only seeing contacts that have phone numbers? Or do all 99 have phone numbers?
Atleast about 70 of them have phone numbers.
The issue got fixed when I did a factory reset and reentered the google account information again. This is not a good thing but did get the job done.
So i used this hack to setup my gmail, hotmail an windjammercable mail in activesync so i could get push notifications for all my mail in one central app. Here is the problem, when i set the update schedule to push in offpeek time it causes my phone to continously do a data sync every 3 seconds non stop! Is there any setting that will get this working correctly?
Windjammercable mail uses google servers for their mail distribution.
If i set peak to push, an off peek to manuel, then changed peak to start at 8am an off peek to start at say 7am would that fix my problems? Or does peak an off peak require 12hrs gap between the two?

This is a bit of a hack.
From the forums I read while trying to resolve this problem I noticed it worked for some people and didn't work for others. I my experience with software, I've learnt that software is not really erratic. There's always a pattern.
After trying all sorts of combinations, I came up with a process which has worked for me 3 times. You can all try it out and let me know if it works for you.
The process involves pretending to setup a hotmail account using ActiveSync (which will fail) then changing the settings to that of a gmail account. I know it sounds bizarre but it worked for me 3 times. The steps are below.
Pretending to setup a hotmail account
1. Go to the Launcher screen
2. Tap on "Email" icon
3. Press Menu
4. Add account
5. Enter full Email address: [email protected] or [email protected]
6. Enter password
7. Tap Manual Setup
8. Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
9. Domain\Username: your full email address (example: [email protected] or [email protected]). DO NOT USE "\" in front of the email address. You are not in any Exchange server domain.
10. Your password is already filled in from Step 6, ignore it
11. Server: m.hotmail.com
12. Use Secure connection (SSL) - Yes
13. Accept all SSL Certificates - Yes
14. Tap Next
You should see a checking server settings message ... mine took around 3 seconds.
Account options window
Email Checking Frequency - Automatic (Push) [<- that is the whole reason you wanted this, right?]
Amount to sync - your choice
rest of the four option - totally your choice
Tap Next
Choose account color - your choice
Tap Next
Account Name: Hotmail or WLM (or whatever you want)
Tap Next
At this point you will get the error message "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
This is expected as a result of a bug with the HTC mail app. Now, moving on to setup the actual email account we're going through all this for.
Setting up actual Gmail Account
Tap "Ok" and tap the "Back" button twice.
Change the email address to your gmail/googlemail address.
Change the server address to m.google.com, leave to domain blank and
Change the username to your full email address.
Of course you need to change the password as well.
Also make sure SSL is checked.
Hit the "Next" button twice and then enter and "Account Name" if you wish. Finally tap "Finish Setup".
DONE! Hopefully your account should be ready to go!
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

So I'm coming from a Samsung Fascinate, and so far I love this phone. However, the email app bugs the hell out of me. I have set up my Yahoo and Hotmail to sync through push. The emails sometimes do not come through for hours after they are received though. Additionally, deleting emails from my Fascinate used to delete them from the inbox on the server as well, so when I check through a browser, they will be gone. Now, this doesn't happen. A copy remains on the server, and I cannot find a setting ANYWHERE to disable that. Does anyone else notice this or have a fix?
Thanks
Just downloaded the respective Hotmail and Yahoo apps and they push immediately and correctly. Now I am trying to delete the email accounts from the stock email app, and it errors out. I tried removing them from accounts under settings and it says I have to completely wipe the phone as the accounts are being used by an app. What. The. Hell.
I think I have it figured out - it's in the setup of the email account and the server settings.
To set up a screenname / email address:
Main menu
Applications
Email
Menu
Accounts
Click add account
Select Others, not AOL
Enter email address and password
Here's the important part - choose the manual setup, not next. This will take you to incoming server settings. It should fill the settings automatically - IMAP / [email address]/ imap.aol.com / 143 / None
Hit next.
This is the outgoing server settings - again, auto filled - smtp.aol.com / 587 / None
Hit next. Then you customize the sync settings, name the account, choose your display name, and then hit Done. In Email, you can tailor signature settings, etc.
The key is the manual setup and having incoming and outgoing settings right - this fixes the trash syncing, allows folders to be displayed, etc.
Hope this helps
Hey guys, I'm not able to find suggested contacts from where I have written prior emails, whether on the contacts or phone app. Any ideas? Thanks,
update
I've done a little troubleshooting and it seems that only the label "Other Contacts" in Gmail does not show up, as those are suggested contacts from every email message I've ever typed out. I still have not found a way to copy those suggestions over so that they will appear when I type emails on my phone, but I can select some of those and transfer them to normal contacts, in which case they will show up even without a phone number.
