interesting problem on tilt?

hello everyone, long time member of howardforums and just joined xda and find some very usefull info, thank you all. i ran into a small problem last night. i have a tilt , not flashed but i have installed the htc home screen and everything worked great. last night i tryed to install the touchflo program found in a few places in this forum and it didn't work but thats when the interesting stuff happen....after deleting all touchflo cab files and restarting the tilt every time at startup it gives me a warning " FTouchFlo.exe cannot be open, its either not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components can not be found. try reinstalling or restoring file." ????? and now the icon that used to be under the clock for favorite people that would send me their pics so i can just one touch dial is GONE? tryed installing the cab for the htc homescreen again but the same....there is a music short cut that lets me launch the music player that wasn't there before? i downloaded the htc home plugin customisor and even when i set for 6 icons on the bottom of the clock it still just gives me 5?
at the end of the day i would like to have the touchflo program but its not a big deal if i dont, i would however really like to have the pic dialer back on my screen as its really convinient to dial my fav people with it.thanks in advance

Keys are in the registry. To access and change the registry you need a registry viewer/editor. There are many but for simple "everyday" use this is a good one:

Be careful though delete the wrong things and you'll end up needing a hard reset.

thanks mike, sorry for the noob question but what do i do once i install this on my comp ? do i install on the phone as well and run the program or ? .....

PHM downloads as a .MSI windows installer. So it will not install properly unless you have your device connected via active sync when you run the downloaded file. So connect your device via usb cable. Let active sync connect and update. Then while still connected run the installer download. During the process a message will pop up on your device. If a choice is offered it will be ok to install to storage card if you have one.

Package installer for Kaiser

Hi everyone,
Does anybody know of a package installer for cabs, so that one could add or remove the cabs that wants installed as a package, all at once? An equivalent of ghost installer for windows, or I might be completely off here. That's a noob for you.

I agree that Tier Autoinstall is great app for installing multiple apps / programs without the need of flashing. I guess I did point him in the wrong direction. Good looking out Alex.

I'm pretty sure that someone could put SDAutorun.exe into a cab too and install it, so it can be run via a program link.
I'm just not crazy about having to run a separate config app on my PC so I can install software on my phone or having to manually edit a text file to add/remove cabs from an autoinstaller.
I'm holding out for that preview DoeDoe showed in one of Sleuth's UC threads. From what's been shown, that would be much better than Tier Autoinstall...

I agree. I was looking at the post by DoeDoe and that looks very impressive. It is quite tiresome editing a .txt file.

Yeah I agree too (its a one time hustle though) , but it serves the purpose for now, as long as you could get rid of all the additional spaces created with the application "tabs after each entry" .

I have not seen the DoeDoe GUI yet, but it would also be nice (if we are making a Christmas list ) to be able to install apps on the Storage Card as well. I would say I install 30-50% of my apps on the ole SD Card.

How to skip the bloat! (Fuze)

I have yet to see it posted so heres how to skip the MEGA BLOAT on the fuze.ATT tried VERY hard to prevent it this time around.
I have tried every screen from hard reset. From what Ive found this is the only way to do it.
1.Wait for the tap here to customize.
2.Go through the screen alignment
3 skip or set pass word.
4.When it says your done and tap the screen to start WM get ready to reset
5. The absolute second you touch the screen(use your finger and have your stylus ready by the reset hole) hit the stylus reset. (if you see customization start your too late and must start over)(hard reset by holding volumedown and the button in the center of the scroll wheel while pressing the stylus reset)
6. When your device starts TF3d will NOT be in your today Items
7.Go to today settins and disable everything
8.Use file explorer to go to windows and find PT_Manila_Reg .cab and run it
9.Run MSFT_Security.cab
10.run the Opera cab called WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9_WWE.cab (only WM6_PPC_HT… shows up in File Explorer) or you won't have the Opera browser.
You now have no bloat and TF3D
You must also install the opera cab in windows for the internet tab to work.

So far yes
Ive been testing for an hour. All the cabs from customization are posted in the windows folder. T
he only thing you lose i see so far are the folders in programs. For all the bloat Ill gladly recreate some folders.

so this is supposed to get rid of the At&t tab in touchflo 3d??
because i did it an the tab is still there...or what exactly does it do?? 9IM A NOOB!!)

If you have yet to see it posted, then how did you copy and paste it word for word from the thread that it's already posted in? Cute...

but everything else is loaded like MS voice command, the quickgps,etc?

any idea where I can find the tools that was under programs with att configured?

As far as I can tell we are getting everything else except the stuff you dont want by skipping customization.
If you want stock and know how to flash NATF's rom is a good alternative. He has done a good job of removing the junk permanantly. From what I have read his rom is pretty solid.
I will probably continue my tilt line of ROMs on the fuze soon. I always base mine off of ATT's most current roms and leave all ATT settings intact.

Does anyone know the name of the CAB for Opera in the windows folder? It does not start off as Opera. Thanks...

Opera doesn't load if you skip the bloat. What is the cab called? I couldn't find it and ended up finding a newer version on this board and used that cab, but I would still like to know. It was driving me crazy.

It is called WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9_WWE.cab. All you see in file explorer is "WM6_PPC_HT..." so it's impossible to tell what it is without running it. I installed Total Commander to find it.

The reset is a small button on the bottom of the Fuze, to the right of the usb port underneath the headphones symbol.

Beat me to it... Yea, The title is too long and you don't see the opera part. WOW, what a difference when you follow theses steps. It even puts the YouTube app on the internet TAB. The fuze runs ALOT smoother and has WAY more RAM/ROM. Good find!

do I press reset when I touch the screen, or the moment I see something change on the screen from me touching it?
WHen it starts up, am I supposed to see a customization wizard? Or did I fail?

Yeah the second you see the screen change you have to reset. Once you see the wizard you went too far. If you see it hard reset and try again.

Thanks for this info. I tried flashing some of the ROMs specifically the NATF ROM since I wanted to keep the AT&T theme but not some of the AT&T bloatware but one thing I noticed accross the board is that cellular video does not work. I have checked proxy and connection settings and managed to get MEdia Net to work but CV always fails. Opera states the fuze is not a 3G phone and PIE only shows XML codes. Alhtough I don't use CV much I still wouldn't want it broken. I suppose this is my alternative for now.

About the only thing I can think of that was kinda cool from the AT&T pack was the Cellular Video. Can that be installed by itself?

Cellular Video is only a website and can be access through cellularvideo.cingular.com

Theres something called PT_BlackSCR.cab
I installed that too. Err..what was it? I'm guessing it was the ATT_tabbed TODAY theme? I forgot to check if that was there before I installed it.

You are flashing through your computer, right? Could you give me some more details on what you're exactly doing? Thanks.

ok i downloaded the flash center unzipped into my desktop. downloaded the nbh file. dragged the nbh file into the RUU folder, inside the flash center folder. Connected my phone and my computer through usb, and put my phone into flight mode. While it was syncing. Your direction on the wingster website said to run the USBL.exe file. But I can only fine the USPL.exe file. I thought you just messed up on the letters so i ran the USPL. exe file that i found in the flash center folder. The command line appears and after 75 percent of the 2nd step begins my phone blanks out white. And then the PDA utility pops out. After clicking finish, and then it saids something error check your utility. I did it like three times. Sometimes my phone pops up this little penguin and then freezes. But after all those attempts my phone still works normal. Can you please help me. Not clear about something just ask me. thanks.

Huh, yea, idk why it's not working. Umm it might be possible that your phone is a lower SPL than 4. Try this out:
Have your phone turned on like normal
Hold down the Camera button, and while holding it, press and release the Soft Reset button. Then once a new screen comes up, release the Camera button. This should bring up a colorscreen (Red, Green, and Blue), if not, tell me.
Check what SPL number you are. It should be over 4. If it is under 4, then we have to try something differently. Also check what IPL you have, and if it's under 4, then tell me again.
If you are over 4 on both of those numbers, then everything should be fine. Idk why it wouldn't work.
Are you using the default T-Mobile ROM (Still shouldn't matter)
Does ActiveSync work normally with your computer???
Answer and do those things that I listed out, then tell me the results and such. Thanks.

Restart the PC. It the PC not allowing the connection.
Also try:
Disabling your firewall.
Disabling and re-enabling USB support in ActiveSync.

The one you press to soft reset, which is the one on the left side of the phone, just below the Volume slider, that little circle. Press it with your stylus.

ok I got this HaRET file onto my device documents. When I try to open it, a black screen with a penguin pops up with green letters. and then my phone turns off and turns on by itself, with a blank white screen.

The files should be fine, I used to use them and they worked perfectly for me. Are you by chance using Windows 7?
Ignore the "disabling the firewall" thing, because that should have no effect.
So yea, are u running Windows 7, Vista, or XP? And is it the 64-Bit or the 32-Bit version??
Don't put that HaRET file on your phone. It'll do nothing. The Penguin is actually part of the bootloader proccess or something, but running that HaRET file will solve nothing. And I have no clue what that HARET file is. And I've never seen a penguin on my screen before.

I mean how i saved the downloaded files on my desktop. I probably did something wrong while saving the downloaded files. The Haret file goes into my phone automatically after the steps are finished. So i dont know what the deal is. My msn live is not working right now. were gonna have to comunicate like this for a bit. thanks for your patience i really appreciate it.

Idk, you could re-download it again, but all the files are in that one folder. You then placed the downloaded ROM file into the RUU folder there? Thats all you should have to do.
Which ROM are you installing, anyways?

I donwnloaded the stable 6.1 version. I never had to unzip the file was i soppose it just automatically saved on to my desktop. And then i dragged it into the RUU file. Is the WM 6.1 soppose to be the NBH file? Because in my folder it says 7Z file type. I have another file but it saids NB file type. is this wrong?

How to remove/change HD2 windows files

Hey, this question maybe was asked before, but couldn't find it any where. We can do a lot of tweeks with removing/ changing file in WM6.5 folder, but every time i try to do so it says "Acces denied". what i do wrong and what i need to do. your help and tips are welcome!

Try Total Commander
For the language tweaks on this forum, and other stuff where you need to "overwrite" ROM files, use Total Commander.
It won't allow you hardcore stuff, but for many tricks advertised here it works.
Thinking of it, I wouldn't be able to come up with a good search term for this either. However, the threads with tricks do tell you to use TC.

Total Commander runs on the phone. It's basically a file explorer alternative that does a few other things, like registry editing, as well.
It allows you to overwrite read-only and system files that aren't in use.
You should have no problem replacing the startup images with it.

hey johncmolyneux, i see you are one of poor UK HD2 owners with skinned rom. i'll show up stupid again but where do i find TC on UK O2 rom. i had one on my touch pro but i just can't see one on HD2. maybe because O2 removed it? maybe you know link to download on for HD2? thanks in advance

Incidentally, I'm an O2 user, but my phone isn't an O2 one - I bought it SIM free. Also, Total Commander doesn't come on the standard ROM either, so you would have been looking for it regardless!
I didn't think O2 were doing anything to the phone. Have they skinned it then?

yeap, first what i missed is wifi router! and believe some other small bits and bobs as i haven't seen hrc rom yet. another thing bastards locked damn phone and need sim free as i travel alot to europe and use foreign sims. by the way i rcopied files for lock screen and welcome screen to win dir, soft it but no changes happened. any ideas where did i go wrong?

I've only played with the lockscreen myself, and I did that by copying the cpr file and the associated png files into the windows folder, and then just to be sure, I copied the cpr file into the \windows\lockscreen\ folder as well.
That worked for me.
As far as the start screen goes, I'd raise the problem in the thread that you got the screens from.
