I a noob just got my first Pocket pc
AT&T Fuze.
I wondering if I lose my connection to At&t or does than only matter on the sim card.
And it the rom is just a different version of windows with modications.

Loading a new rom will not effect your service plan.
Also, if you've loaded a ROM that doesn't have the ATT network settings, be sure to either manually install them or use Connection wizard so that you can connect to the network.

just to specify, your phone connects to att thriough setting on your phone (kind of like setting up dial-up) you have to tell in what you are connecting to. again this is local and does not effect your data plan. you can get all the settings from the att site.

I am a long time reader newer poster. I am coming from a Treo 750. Is there anything I should do to this before I start adding my apps and transfering contacts? Is there a better backup of my Treo other than the Windows Vista Sync? I am mainly concerned with contacts and software. Also I am on Att I heard about the only thing I need to do is swap Sim card out, also should I adjust the wap settings for this to work. [email protected] password CINGULAR1. Also does it matter when syning new device the device name be the same? What is the best ROM I should have?

I also use att and all i have to do is set up the network to use media net and tell it under advanced to not use the proxy. It should work fine for you then. I am using Bepe rom 6.3 premium. The connection wizzard sets up right for ATT in the us except fothe proxy. you do npot have to enterthe wap settings they are there already.
Coming from my 750, I didn't have to do a thing - just stick in sim card and I was good to go. I am on the PDAConnect plan so no issues with proxies and such.
As for backup, use Sprite. It comes with the Cruise on the CD.

I got my phone installed bepe rom premium, I thought I got all of the att settings correct I am able to receive sms and email but for some reason It only has edge when before the rom i was getting hsdpa and 3g speeds. can you please take me through a small tutorial of what excat settings I need in the connections panel. I have only 1 listed MEdiaNet I then went to the advanced network and it says: turn on HSDPA it is checked, GPRS PAP authentication is checked, CSD Line Type data rate 9600 bps(v.32) connection element Transparent, SMS Service SMS over GSM. What else do I need to do? Please help
Also under comm manager it shows no data connection available?????
I figured it out. I removed all settings and went through the connection wizard. Also I forgot to change the band type to auto, that is why I would only get edge speeds. I wasnt sure about the proxy settings, I was supposed to checkit not uncheck it. and found the server settings and port numbers. Thak for everything. This phone is so much better than the treo 750. Well worth the money. No more square screen for me.
Out of curiosity what do we need to set the proxy to? Is this for using tethering or something else? I am on ATT as well and the auto network configure app thing seems to have set it all up correctly. Is there anything additional to be done?

One says : MEdia Net, and another is AT&T ISP.
Media Net shows:wap.cingular
AT&T ISAP shows: isp.cingular
I figured I use isp.cingular as ATT is charging me for full internet. But it won't connect. But it will connect to the Media Net. Am I doing something wrong?

isp.cingular is i think for there laptop tethering plan and wap is for regular pda plan and media net at least thats wat they told me
did it actually read the tmobile sim? is the fuze factory unlocked?
it saids "world phone" everytime you start it up

It says 'world phone' because it's Quad Band, and will work anywhere there is a GSM signal
you want to use wap.cingular make sure the proxy box is unchecked. no username and password.
I unlocked my sprint touch pro 2, flashed the edited radio posted here for the sprint version, and now I'm using it on T-Mobile

Internet doesnt work
I have tried internet2.voicestream.com APN, wap.voicestream.com and epc.tmobile.com
It always says "can't connect for unknown reason"
I left the username and password fields clear
Any suggestions?
Have you tried out the wireless configurator? I'm sure they won't have your exact phone, but the settings should be close enough.

Got it to work, oddly enough I had to delete the connection, then create it again
Didn't change anything, just deleted it and made a new one with the same settings...

You're doing exactly what I've been trying to do but unable to. i have been unable to get a steady signal from T-Mobile, and the rare times that I did, generally I was unable to get data connection working.
Can you tell me exactly which APN settings worked for you? thanks.

This is what I did after I unlocked and flashed the edited radio (for the sprint version)
Go into Settings>Phone>Network, select GSM Only and select MANUAL
Select TMobile
after this you should be able to make phone calls and get txt
then go to settings>connections>connections, select the top one (should be tmobile data) and select "manage existing connections"
go to general, then click delete
create a new connection, name it whatever you want,select GPRS 3G, use APN internet2.voicestream.com , no suername or password just leave blank, click finish
now you should be able to connect

some people have problems connecting with certain APNs on tmobile. first try ecp.tmobile.com that SHOULD work and its the newer apn that they made for 3g/smartphones to use so it should be faster EDGE. and if its not working delete all connection settings make a new one. no pass or username. IF it dont work no matter what contact tmobile they helped me when i had an att phone with them

I have the same issue. using 1.96uw radio and mighty rom and cant get the data to work. I have Tzone as my data plan.

Just wanted to bump this for those of us who have the HTC Touch Pro 2 and for whatever reason the data stops connecting.
Hi,
I have a ATT fuze flashed with Touch Pro ROM that will pop up a connection setting whenever I insert a new SIM card. The setting will detect the carrier and auto set up the gprs and all other connection.
Now I got a T-mobile HD2 and flashed with some Chinese ROM. The phone doesn't have this connection setting tool, so I have to set up the connection by my own even I am using T-mobile service.
Moreover, when I check on the region setting, only China has left.
Is there a cab I can restore all region back and also install the connection setting tool?
Okay so I have this tablet and it was originally on T-Mobile. I unlocked it to use it on WIND MOBILE here in Canada because both these companies use AWS. The tablet does connect to WIND network but I cannot browse or open anything. Infact, there is no 3G icon either. I have tried everything - from flashing factory ROM via ODIN to turning off all wireless and ON and rebooting....I just cannot get 3G to connect. The APN settings are also correct. What else can I do?

I guess you are referring data connection to 3G network? What about data to 2G or EDGE network? SMS is working fine? Also verify IMEI no. whether its corrupted or not?
