I am coming accross keyboard issues on the s720 i just picked up a few days ago. At first I thought it was the 3rd party app I was trying to install (MinduIM). Basically, it installs fine, but once you try to use the app, you find out any key that has a number associated to it when FN key is enabled, will not work. For example R, D, C, etc on the slider keyboard. I then tried to install 3 more apps and came accross the same issues.
I heard there was a fix for another HTC model, but when I tried that on mine, it just locked it up and would not start the phone anymore. Thank god I was able to remove it.
Anyone come accross this issue or know a fix?
Sounds to me like a problem with the Keyboard driver, like I had with my qwertz and caps, but I don't know where you could get a new version. Maybe (it's just another radio right?) you should try the MoDaCo cab for new et9 it was a newer version of the driver, but it could also lock it again. Look in the thread of the New Guava ROM, in the first post he put in a link to it!
EDIT:
Here you go: http://ostiedbrosse.free.fr/Xda-Dev/MoDaCo_Vox_eT9_Language_Pack.cab
can this hack work with wm pro devices also?
Hi people,
I come from the other side of the fence "Palm"
I just upgraded to the X7510, sweet piece of hardware and beautiful 5" display
So i'm very familiar in the Palm Treo world on customizing my own ROMs.
After reading & searching A LOT in here and other PPC forums, i still have a few utilities i can't seem to find.
So i read there is also a BootLoader screen in the PPC world, very typical of the HTC devices, makes custom ROMing very simple.
However, i still haven't come across the name of the applications you guys use to Dump (backup) the current ROM, and the Upload the new ROM into the device.
Or it seems like the only way is via ActiveSync 4.5 ?
Another doubt i have is about the Unlocked part.
My device is straight from HTC unlocked, does it mean it is fully SIM and CID unlocked, or it's only SIM unlocked?
By that i want to figure out if i need to run the CID unlock before doing the Custom ROMs etc.
And last but not least...
I'd like to contribute with the 7510 ROM original dump, seems like the Wiki doesn't have it yet,
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Athena_Upgrades
so i'll probably need the same whatever tool you guys use, as asked in my first question, to backup the old ROM.
which will also help us fill the empty space in the Wiki left for the very same question
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Athena
"How to dump the ROM"
Thanks
Cheers!
well... since i got no response from anybody
Thanks to myself
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408519
found the tool i was looking for to build my own rom.
and to top it off i finally found the ROM backup topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334680
now beats me on the mobile 6 subsection, and something that is totally on another area for another phone... oh well...
Good on you allgamer for taking a lead here. Some of us have been pushing for a separate 7510 forum under the Athena section. Without that we 7510 owners are continuously looking for "needles in haystacks".
cktlcmd and eaglesteve have been burning the 7510 candle for us. With your input we'll get this device on the map yet.
Hey i also just got a x7510, and id love see a x7510 rom!
hell yeah, you can say that again.... it was so hard to find anything, some times stuff like this the Search engine did not pick it up
like the rom dump, on another phone, i understand it is all PPC, but still it might have been different for some models
at least that was true in the Palm world, so i guess in the PPC world we'll have it easy, since it looks like all models dump appears to be the same.
as for the utility, never would have guessed it would have been found mentioned within a thread about something completely different.
anyways, now that i know, i'll be writing more about it, once i start working on it.

well, i don't mind sharing my custom ROMs, once i start cooking them.
but don't expect too much since, what i usually like to do is simply clean up all the junk that i don't need
then replace them with Freebies, or registered software, which if that is the case, i wont be able to share it here.
x7510 owners - forward march!
Something several of us are keen to see is a work around to make RealVGA work with Spb Mobile Shell. AllGamer, you mentioned in a post under "SPB Mobile Shell incompatible with Real VGA 96 dpi on the X7510" that you got a solution posted elsewhere working. Can you share with us how you did that?
Also, my devise is definately not running as smooth and quick as I would like it (or expect it to given its processor). As a prelude to getting some cooking going (and I'm not a chef) could we start to identify some tweaks that will make the stock ROM more efficient? For example I always ramp up the siz of cache etc. via MemMaid but to be honest I'm never sure whether it does any good or not.
Hi robjhellis,
Are you saying the performance in x7510 is not as smooth as it should be ? Can you please tell during what operations ie. Video etc it becomes sluggish.That would be a good place to start with.
Thanks,
Srini
Just guess, but i think that is the so much talked about behaviour of the video drivers issue on all HTC products
Videos are great no lag (well when i play them in coreplayer full screen, with specs up full). Only one "problem" lol...the audio is exactly -0.512milli seconds behind (when you hear it). So stupid tried all kinds of videos same result lol so thankfully coreplayer has an option were you just put "-0.512" in and ill kinda sync up the audio.. windows media player is pretty much pointless to play video now since you can't put -512 anywhere and the audio lags big time.
the audio in general is really bad, put on real expensive headphones and you can hear ssshhhhh hissss - the background noise.
Note: i was so shocked/surprised that i did a hard reset thinking maybe its something that i might of installed, but nope problem still there

Hi Guys, my issue isn't playing video - I haven't got to that stage yet on my 7510. Rather its just slow moving around menus, reloading after a soft reset, opening programs etc. I can sometimes count up to 3 and even 5 after selecting a tab before the tab appears e.g. Settings-System. I've also now started to see the start icon in the top left corner not redraw after a soft reset. There is much more lag than I see on my TyTN which, of course, is running a custom ROM

I will suggest to check in the ATHENA WM6 section the thread how to speed sogarth base rom....
Basically install netCF3.5 , FDCsoft Taskmanager 3.1 and start changing how/stopping started services and applications (There are many lauchxx keys in the registry to change to avoid self application startup)

By any chance, do you know how to exlude Biotouch from starting list? It is not started from startup links, or at least not directly. I was browsing the regs also, but could not find anything. I use FTouchSL and UL for cube effect on Today screan, so Biotuch seems to be useless.
Also, do you now what a wt5portm or something like that is for ?

Can you be specific where to change this setting on Core Player?
its in advance - > near the bottom "manual A/V offset +/-"
but it still dosn't work...anyone got a solution plz....i don't know what to do the audio is always out of sync for any video..
I've found the same lag on audio and it is SO annoying! Nothing seems to fix it!!
I've created a quick "how-to" on dumping the x7510 ROM, which may be found here: http://htcathena.freeforums.org/dumping-your-x7510-s-rom-t6.html#p7
I will follow up with a "how-to" on re-constructing the ROM (unless somebody else feels inclined to do so instead). [Edit - found this how-to] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066
However, we still need HardSPL or similar. CMONEX told me she and Olipro are working on an unlocker with that functionality, so we'll need to wait a tad! Once we have that we can start cooking some ROM's.
OK, I'm officially frustrated with my ATT Fuze (Raphael). I've looked and looked, but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer...so I need some major help, please.
1) I use my WM Phone to keep me together, business-wise...so I need more than just today's appointment on the home screen. I need something that will integrate my appointments and/or tasks into TF3D, either by altering the home tab, or providing a new one. That's why, after searching, I tried Manila-Today (I think that's name)...it showed promise, but the very things I need (appointments, tasks), it doesn't support. I don't want TF3D-Detached or SecondToday if I can at all avoid it...I want something integrated. Is there a definitive answer for this?
That's the big one I've been researching...for a while now, too. I have a couple of other questions I haven't dug too deeply on (I've been researching the above like crazy!), but I'd love to have answered if someone has the time:
2) I'd like to get rid of the AT&T "trial-/bloatware" that comes on my phone. Does anyone know if the same trick for the tilt works with this device (soft reset after initial set-up, before countdown ends)...and without damaging it?
3) A lot of the things I'm looking at in terms of altering the TF3D requires that you know the version of it, and I'm a bit confused by all the names being bandied about (TF3D, TF3D2, Rhodium version, etc.). How in the heck can I tell what I have? At least that will give me a place to start in terms of adding new tabs, changing that god-awful landscape menu, getting some backgrounds, etc.
Sorry for ranting...it's just that I have this supposedly incredible phone, and I feel that I can't do jack with it. I appreciate anyone's help...thanks.
1. Try SBP Mobile Shell, short of using SecondToday or the Detacher, its the only other inerface that will run in conjunction with TF3D.
The calendar tab does provide some details but there is no appt tab.
2. Yes
3. Go to your settings tab/About, the version is there.
I was like you when I first got my Fuze because the Tilt development had gotten so far and ther was nothing initially available for the Fuze.
Patience, flash a couple of cooked or stripped ROMs and read all you can because it IS a different device with different anomalies, and you'll be lovin' it in no time.
One important one is that the RUU wrapper does not completely wipe the previous ROM, so you can experience bugs if you do not flash back to stock ROM every few flashes.
Ok, I was wondering if anyone out there possibly knows (without flashing to custom rom) how to uninstall verizon's junk off the omnia i920. I tried bunch of custom roms and while they were good, each one of them had bugs. I tried to build my own last night without any luck whatsoever.
I know there has to be some work around where I can take the verizon stuff off. Or could someone tell me what I did wrong when I built my own rom...
I used Wozzers i920 kitchen. I hit buildos and then pressed the play button and it put files into OEM, SYS, and all those other folders. I went through and deleted some stuff in the OEM, SYS folders and made sure initfiles was clear of them as well as the rgu, but when I flashed my phone it wouldn't go past the verizon wireless screen.
Am I totally missing something? I tried taking out the following: All VZW bloat (games, nav, cityid, vvm, songid, Vcast and I'm sure a couple others), Bing, Office One Note, Excel, PowerPoint, Samsung Widgets, Windows Live and Opera.
Is there an exact step by step thread or threads to help me out, because I checked out modaco...was I supposed to drop the .nbo file back into buildos? I am so lost and I would love to get the VZ junk off.
Thanks in advance..I know this is alot to ask for...but I'm just wanting to remove a couple things and this phone would be perfect then.
In my opinion, the 'bugs' in most of the custom ROMs are less objectionable than the bugs in the stock ROM.
Have you tried Ninja4Hire's ROM? He uses builds that are inherantly more stable, 6.5 as opposed to 6.5.x.
I prefer his XDA version 7, so far. My phone is now the fastest I have ever had, and trouble free except for occasional added software conflicts.
You will need to read up a lot (at Modaco) and start practicing to figure out cooking your own ROMs, but there is quite a bit of help over there.
Yeah I have ninja's v7 rom on my phone now and something is going on with the sound when i get a text message. I'm going to try Amdzeros lite rom here shortly...i didn't have issues with text sounds until today so I don't know what I possibly done to get the sound not working.
I try to read up at modaco, and I joined that forum but I cannot post anything there or click links. I tried contacting the admins there but noone ever got back to me.
***Over the last 2 months, I have been through more issues with T-Mobile then just the issues from the software side. I have spent the majority of that time working with them to try and fix a data connectivity issue I was having. After hard resets, ROM update, and then a site survey, T-Mobile found that the area where I live does NOT have adequate enough coverage to competently supply data coverage to my phone. Notes from the tech said that towers were noted as needed but NO BUDGET was available to deploy a new tower in the area. Because of this, the account rep I spoke to immediately offered a full refund on my unsubsidized HD2 and a refund for all services rendered to-date, including accessories for the phone. As of last night, I left T-Mobile and joined AT&T with a 32gb iPhone in preperation for the upcoming 4G. I'll either trade it in if within 30 days, or give 3GS to wife and get a 4HD on a second line. I have been a Windows Mobile user for YEARS. I still love the HD2 and would never have gotten rid of it, except for the fact I know that AT&T's Edge bands are going away to make room for 3G, and I don't want issues of trying to run HD2 on AT&T's network. I want to stress how much I LOVED the HD2. To me, the phone had a lot of improvement needed, but for what MS and HTC had to work with, it was the best Windows Mobile phone to-date, IMHO. That being said, I have lots of friends with the iPhone, our company exclusively carries it, so I also got a nice discount. I've used one from a distance several times, but never really had one that was mine to really dig into. So far, I am REALLY happy with the phone. I'll jailbreak it and start tweaking it, just like I have my Windows Mobile phones for years, but it's something new for me to play with. =) So, with that being said, I am going to retire from this thread and anybody is more then welcome to take it over. Nibbley15 might be able to do this. I'm still need to get him setup with some software issues he was having, but baby and family haven't left me with a lot of time. Nibbley15, I haven't forgot about you, I just haven't been home to get things configured yet. I'll be in touch soon.
Thanks! ZIMMAY!***
Ok, I did a lot of playing with the registry this weekend to try and get the same TouchResponse in the new ROM as I had in the old. That has really been my only compaint about the ROM.
I have finished making a CAB. Use at your own risk. I played guine pig and did this myself with no ill effects.
Here are the reg keys that are changed:
Settings from HD2Tweak:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel]
"PressureThreshold"=dword:000162f2
This is the setting that seems to help the most with being able to click/touch items on screen, especially the corners:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\Setting\TouchPanel]
"FingerThreshold"=dword:00000000
Settings from HD2Tweak:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"FingerPressure"=dword:000249F0
"SpeedHigh"=dword:00000000
"SpeedLow"=dword:0000000e
I am still curious what the other settings that Nibbley15 found and how they relate.
***Update 5/21: Added cab to enable Screen options in System Settings to do a screen calibration.
***UPdate 5/22: Reg entry for new CAB is as follows:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\ControlPanel\Pen]
"Hide"=dword:00000000

Below is what I found to work for me, better then anything I've tried so far. I will be the first to warn you that I have NO IDEA what I'm really doing in relation to TouchResponse, but I do have a good understanding of the registry. The values I've applied may really be nothing more then a happy thought in my head. Though I seem to be able to actually use the close/ok buttons in the upper right part of the screen.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\TouchPanel]
"PressureThreshold"=dword:000162F2

***Edit: Forgot to mention. While the bottom 2 did help, the first FingerThreshold settings seemed to be what made the real difference for being able to competently hit buttons without feeling like I was jackhammering the phone. =)

Thanks. Personally I'm running these exact reg and it's working a million times better. But like I said, could be in my head. The only other things I changed sensitivity wise is the scrolling affects that HD2Tweak has. I'll be adding those to whatever I CAB up for a complete fix. I used SKTracker to find out which reg entries changed.
Yes,
Thanks! Please keep the ideas flowing here. Thanks to all that are working this!
I'm posting this reply for folks that are using the 2.13 STOCK ROM and you may want to know the original settings to revert back too or other places to look for you REG peeps to look at.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\Setting\TouchPanel]

"FingerThreshold"=dword:00000031 STOCK SETTING
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings]

STOCK 2.13 version doesn't have this key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\TouchPanel]
"PressureThreshold"=dword:000162F2
STOCK 2.13 version doesn't have this key
Did find these keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\CONFIG\TOUCH]
"BaseThreshold" = dword: 20
"FingerThreshold"=dword:31 (0X00001F) <- NOTE:
"NoiseThreshold" = dword: 20
NOTE: if you change the key[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\Setting\TouchPanel] to "FingerThreshold"=dword:0
then this value will change to 20, hmmmm.
Other notes: I think that BaseThreshold is where it starts?
I think that the Fingerthreshold here is where it all starts from after learning?
I think that the NoiseThreshold is the amount of "noise" from your fingertouch is allowed before it recognizes before it knows your finger is really touching the screen?
2nd half of post: I'm posting this for folks that may want to know what was in the 2.10.1 STOCK ROM:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\Setting\TouchPanel]
"FingerThreshold"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"FingerPressure"=dword:000249F0
STOCK 2.10.1 version doesn't have this key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\TouchPanel]
"PressureThreshold"=dword:000162F2
STOCK 2.10.1 version doesn't have this key
Did find these keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\CONFIG\TOUCH]
"BaseThreshold" = dword: 0
"FingerThreshold"=dword: 20 (0X000014) <- NOTE: now this is interresting
"NoiseThreshold" = dword: 20
This is what I recommend folks to change their 2.13 Builds to match the 2.10.1 Build for Touch Response.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\Setting\TouchPanel]
"FingerThreshold"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\CONFIG\TOUCH]
"BaseThreshold" = dword: 0
"FingerThreshold"=dword: 20 (0X000014) <- NOTE: this may change automatically on you from the above change (Setting\TouchPanel)
"NoiseThreshold" = dword: 20

Hello,
I will try to put this simply, please do not mess with your registry unless you know what you are doing it can crash your phone. When we finally find the fix for this, a cab file will follow shortly. The cab file will do the work for you and you don't have to worry about killing your phone.
If you really really really want to try then please search the threads and there you will find your answers.
Please refer to post #5

Both of those keys/values were there. Although the one thing I had already installed and run was BSBTweaks and HD2Tweaks. Either of those 2 could have created the values. They seem to actually work, but that's kinda why I was posting, to see what others experience was with it.

Just to clarify,
I am using a completely stock build of the new TMobile ROM. Based on the information I've read and that has been posted here, it looks like older ROMs may, or may not have those reg keys/settings implemented depending on the ROM timeline.
For those that have had a chance to try these settings, does it seem to improve things?
The numbers I used were just numbers I kept increasing. I have no idea what the max value is or could be.
I'm hoping tomorrow I'll have a chance to post the reset of the reg tweaks I used from HD2Tweaks that would be apart of the entire TouchResponse "package" that I've been working with.
Also, just in case someone wonders, don't ask for permission, TAKE PERMISSION to use this information however you want. You can say you figured it out and incorporate it into "My Awesome ROM". I really don't care. It's about getting things fixed we don't like, and making them better. I could care less who gets credit. I know for a fact that there are chef's and others out there that know a bazillion times more about this stuff then me. I just like know that I helped, if in fact it really does help.
Peace out!
I only had the first value in my registry:
"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\HARDWARE\Setting\TouchPanel]
"FingerThreshold"=dword:00000000
"FingerThreshold"=dword:00000031"
But I did make the change and it absolutely made a huge difference, for the better.
Thank you for this. I just made the first tweak and things are 100% better. That eliminated my one big gripe about the new stock ROM.

Well, before I did that I wanted to know exactly what was "fixing" the problem and what exactly those settings were doing or how it may interact or affect other functions of the phone. So far I have had nothin but positive response to this.
I have a little more testing to do and then I will putting out a CAB with all the fixes I apply that are related to making TouchResponse behave like I would expect it to. Expect something in the next 24 hours. In the mean time, you can always use a registry editor and apply the reg values yourself.
