i am waiting for this...
im looking forward to see onyx or tess with windows 6.5 but the final version, i dont trust microsoft betas.
however as far as i can see we wont get anything new, just a very very little improvement on the interface but with manilla installed there is not much point for it.
all what i want is the new scrolling
lol
hope we'll c a new elf rom with the 6.5
go our rom cookers
Great.
Thumbs up for this idea.
Yes, I agree and i await for 6.5
Probably Onyx can come out with somrthing like, Onyx Alpha or something.
That will be cool.
But always remember, Family First.
Go out with your family, and balance it.

gwes.exe from 20769 built already has new MS scrolling and as for me it's much better than default HTC scrolling.

Hello All,
I ported it to Elf to have a look at the new stuff.
A bit of warning: It's very rough, and my port is even uglier, it could brick your device or not boot. Flash at your own risk.
You probably need a recent patched SPL to be able to flash it as it's very small (<50M).
It works fine on my Elf, not sure about Elfin. Pagepool is way too high for Elf in my taste. After installing cabs and reboot, the new Home and IE are working.
Don't expect much support on this, I'm not a cook and my main phone is a diamond, I did it just to have a preview.
You can find it here:

BOB has made it for kaiser. Nice & fast one. A blend of 6.1 & 6.5.
Nice to try, see kaiser ROM upgrade section.
I thought the 6.5 ROM was a beta.
So the final is flying on the net now?
Anyway I hope someone can cook a great/stable 6.5 for Elf
no final one is still not on the ground but it seems we will very soon may get it.
So what's the big difference between 6.1and 6.5?
Is it just performance, like 6.1, or is it more finger-friendly => which was for WM7, isn't it?
Getting Confused now
But i'll wait for the 6.5
Zune integration?
Does 6.5 really come with Zune integration?

Well, I can't comment on performance, it's really speedy on the Elf but the pagepool is big, I will have to check with my usual pagepool to compare. I heard that the 211xx OS are speedier though.
If what we have is real 6.5, a few things have been added, especially a new today screen and a slide to unlock replacement for regular unlock (see screens attached).

The leaked rom didn't have anything like this, however the graphics seem to get inspiration from Zune.

Yes, saw that wmp was not in the build, maybe to make room for the famous zune integration later, I don't know.

Great!
Can't way to have this!

Thx for your answers
But honestly...what's pagepool?
I read it everywhere, but I don't know what it does (dumb!)
And it looks like HTC Manila, but instead scrolling from left to right, it's from top to down.

Pagepool is a cache in memory to speed up things. The value is fixed during cooking, from 4 to 24M, the higher it is the quicker is your device. But as Elf has only 64M, I used to keep it low on my device.
I didn't check the pagepool on the 6.5 build, but it has 46.90 Mb total, meaning that pagepool is probably 12 or 16M.

Linux OS for Touchphone

Hello, I was wondering if there was a Linux-based OS I could install on my phone (like Android, except that I hear that Android doesn't support a lot of phones yet). I am quite disappointed with the interface Windows Mobile 6 gives me and it isn't very touch friendly, and doesn't provide simple (and quick) ways to access things.
I am mainly looking for one with a much more usable interface and a decent set of applications (that either comes with it or is available with it).
Any further information on this would be appreciated.
Edit: any general information on any hacks/programs I can install to improve the general UI of the whole phone would also be appreciated. I've also heard about Windows Mobile 7 - when will it come out, and will it be a free upgrade?
I reckon WM 7 will be released in 2010, so that'll take a while.
WM 6.5 seems to be more finger friendly (the bigger start menu, etc. NO personal experience with it different from seeing today-screen and start menu on a flashed hermes), but just running M2D/TF3D on a WM 6 device already improves it by a lot.
Also, which OS you can install is limited to your device, it might be useful to mention which one you have.
Ok, My phone is a Dopod 383 Pro. It has many names sometimes it's called a HTC something, an I-Mate something and so on, but I call it a Dopod 383 Pro.
How do I get WM 6.5 on it?
What about M2D or TF3D, what are they?

You can get WM 6.5 (BETA) on it by flashing your ROM. I'm not experienced with this, so for more information about flashing you should check out the stickied posts.
M2D (Manila 2D or TouchFLO2D) and TF3D (TouchFlo3D) are today-screen plugins by HTC, which give a bar with tabs at the bottom of your homescreen. Here's a youtube video to give you an idea:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjMAUprcFqc&feature=related
The difference between M2D and TF2D is the name, and the difference between those and TF3D is that TF3D has some more fancy animations and such, but requires more of your devices CPU power making it a bit slower.
I believe you have to flash your ROM for this aswell, with a ROM that has 1 of them built in, but I'm not entirely sure.
One thing - Before flashing, Read all information about it you can find. If you fail, things can turn nasty.
Hope that helps

Yes you can install 6.1 or even 6.5 and maybe linux, just do a search on your correspondent subsection here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
For example, if you enter on Universal section you can see linux for Uni, and there are also for other devices
Good luck,
Rather than looking for a new OS, why not change how it looks via WAD2, SPB Shell etc?

first smartphone E-ten X650

Hello members^^
I am a 17 year old german student ,not really good at english and i've got some questions cause the E-ten Glofiish X650 is my first Smartphone and there are some issues that i couldn't solve till now...
1. is there a WELL working Java VM for my smartphone (ive tried some and found the ibm solution as the best one but its still laggy)
2. are there any game console emulators that can handle a touchscreen..? the glofiish hasn't got enough softkeys :/
3. is it possible to flash an alternative OS ? maybe some kind of a linux distribution or BSD? just because i like to work with linux systems and my notebook runs on sabayon linux (and it looks much better than WM6 xD)
4. are there some speed tweaks or things like that because the 64MB sd ram in the x650 are not easy to be kept available... (and the screen is laggy e.g. in using the doom engine or while i scroll my music libary in pocketplayer)
5. if there is no alternative os, is it possible that there is any gui that may replace microsofts one?
i hope anyone can give me a little introduction into this "new" world?
please dont hate me if this was the wrong thread for questions like those but it was the best solution to reach more members ^-^

Optimum Advanced Config Settings for D2

Hello fellow D2 lovers
Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3 is a very common tweaking program used in the Diamond 1 and Diamond 2. By the way this is an excellent program (many thanks to Schaps at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151)
My question is what settings have you found to be the most optimum for the D2 for speed and stability?
I am more interested in the "Performances" section. There are so many options and I see "(advised)" next to a few figures but do these apply to the D2?
I would be interested in replies from D2 users who have mastered the art of tweaking their Diamond 2 for optimum speed, usability and stability. Please share your settings so we can try to tweak our D2.
And to those technical whizzes can anyone explain what the settings in the Performances section mean, eg "glyph cache" etc...
Regards and thanks
Aussie

Here's is another one I found. One I remember from the former 4DOS (JP Software)/NovellDOS time WinCE RAM-DiSK;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382944
PgDn a bit for a little explaination about the use of a RAM-DiSK. Or use google
Unfortunately the download-link mentioned in the above thread does not work anymore .. even when it was Russian it was once nice to have. It's a shame I didn't save it locally
Though who would I be if I would not post an alternative

Have fun folks,
