i am waiting for this...
im looking forward to see onyx or tess with windows 6.5 but the final version, i dont trust microsoft betas.
however as far as i can see we wont get anything new, just a very very little improvement on the interface but with manilla installed there is not much point for it.
all what i want is the new scrolling

gwes.exe from 20769 built already has new MS scrolling and as for me it's much better than default HTC scrolling.

Hello All,
I ported it to Elf to have a look at the new stuff.
A bit of warning: It's very rough, and my port is even uglier, it could brick your device or not boot. Flash at your own risk.
You probably need a recent patched SPL to be able to flash it as it's very small (<50M).
It works fine on my Elf, not sure about Elfin. Pagepool is way too high for Elf in my taste. After installing cabs and reboot, the new Home and IE are working.
Don't expect much support on this, I'm not a cook and my main phone is a diamond, I did it just to have a preview.

Well, I can't comment on performance, it's really speedy on the Elf but the pagepool is big, I will have to check with my usual pagepool to compare. I heard that the 211xx OS are speedier though.
If what we have is real 6.5, a few things have been added, especially a new today screen and a slide to unlock replacement for regular unlock (see screens attached).

Pagepool is a cache in memory to speed up things. The value is fixed during cooking, from 4 to 24M, the higher it is the quicker is your device. But as Elf has only 64M, I used to keep it low on my device.
I didn't check the pagepool on the 6.5 build, but it has 46.90 Mb total, meaning that pagepool is probably 12 or 16M.

Just gave wm6.1 a spin.....and what can i say
PROS:
- threaded sms
- easier exchange server configuring (auto configures)
- quicker, and seems stable as of now
- solves the password screen locking the start menu bar bug
CONS:
- nothing new or different on the today screen
- nothing visually different
- same old applications, same old interface, same old same old
- its just the same old wm6 people, so, if you by chance felt like your life was coming to an end and you were waiting for wm6.1 to make it on your unis and once again get your juices flowing.....forget it.
- a2dp support seems like its missing!
- "Use High resolution" in internet explorer no longer there
- its highly frustrating to see MS drop in the "Task manager" application from their smartphone OS and market it as an "improvement".....grrr
- a sad "Getting Started" today plugin.....please, someone give me a break!
Anyway, life goes on, the same old sorry way......photon? android? hmph....

i can confirm a2dp isnt working eother and internet explorer high resolution isnt even there ..
the wm5 latest tmobile rom has these!!
i give them one thing though, it is snappy and seems stable so far.
seems they increased the card cache size since when you start a song in media player it starts skipping and stuttering.. well that can always be fixed later.
Hmmmm, are we talking here about the real WM6.1 or the PDAViet build ported to Universal?
The cons/limitations are probably porting problems, at the moment the few who can confirm these are midget_1990 & mamaich. Besides, WM6.1 is not probably meant to be a version upgrade but a release update (i.e. SP2 in XP). I don't know too!

6.1 is just an update not upgrade.
What I can say is this is a build ported from a QVGA device to a VGA device.
Now pls wait for our gurus to release a complete built.
I can run a2dp perfectly, it is just a matter of porting only.
We see here now lot's of build coming..just b patient for the same

Well, as MS screwed up on Photon release which was to be somewhere during 2008....and because google gave them a freak-surprise with Android....MS suddenly commited for a WM6.1 release.
I thought WM6.1 will be atleast a few features intended to go into Photon to keep Windows Mobile alive against upcoming competition (Android based phones scheduled to hit somewhere in Q3).
But turns out that Wm6.1 is just the same stuff....like you said, an sp1 release!
The least i expected was a changed today screen with a new interface which i kept reading about on so many forums....turns out people mistook this from the smartphone version they saw....
Anyways, cheers guys, trying to be happy with what we've got!!
Cant wait for the **actual** roms to start coming out from all our rom gurus out here....

I havent seen/used the one you speak of, i can assure you thought that i do ahve a copy of legit 6.1 made for vga and not ported.

Hi Win_XP, my take on the fake issue HERE!
Hopefully Midget will fix the situation with disconnecting SD cards.... I'm not the one who had this problem when usual SD card 2gb is disconnected on no reasons and you have to slide out/in to get it worked...

This ROM is the fastest and the only one that doesn't have problems in its functions, never freeze and the most reliable one. I'm using it with old 1.09 RADIO ROM and battery is the same like having WM5.
You can try to argue everything, but this is really example of complete ROM.

Looks nice though...might have to give it a whirl...
My phone / coverage area does not seem to like the 1.58.26.20 radio however...so I will be changing that right away.

Installed this ROM for a while...
and I must say I am very impressed. Has a lot of nice features and is very very fast. I didn't have any issues with it. Great job my man...very nice indeed
The only thing I would change is have the Network Configuration Wizard pop up on 1st boot. Not that it's a big issue for me but that a lot of users might have problems on first boot

As for the Net Config Wizzard, How does one go about getting it to pop on the first boot ? I used it straight from Alex's packages.
Why I have your attention can you explain why it shows the 1.60.00.00 on boot and how to correct it ?

You do have to have a code to make it functional though

I don't think there is anything wrong with putting trail software into a ROM. In fact I think this actually benifits the companies as a whole. If you like and use the software as much and deem is necessary to have then you purchase it.
I'm not sure how you would make the Network Configuration come up on first boot. I notice that when I did install it did not bring me to the normal installation packages like installing a .tsk home screen and that nature. I did a reboot and then the network configuration came up without any issues.
I am also not sure what it's coming up as 1.60.00.00

I wouldn't understand why it would still show 1.60.00.00
I know that with Build 5.2.19716 The Rom is trully a 1.60.00.00
I don't know why yours would be showing this. I know that Sleuth255 changes his to a custom number like his name and then the number. I would perhaps ask him how this could be accomplished....sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I was actually unhappy with the final product. I took down the link and have been reconfiguring some settings on this rom and actually adding a few more programs. I should be reposting this rom in a few days. So stick around those who are interested. I still believe this will be the best att rom offering only the most commonly used software without taking away from the att experience and over bloating with alot of cooked in garbage. Thanks to all those for your interest. As soon as an OEM ATT OFFICIAL wm6.1 update comes available i will cook that one as well.

Apart from S.V.I.'s HORNET series, this has got to be one of the most full featured ROMs out there. Its got Manilla 2D built in, and it optimized accordingly for it. Impressions:The man, the legend, the ROM god has done it again! I don't understand how, but S.V.I has improved his HORNET series TREMENDOUSLY in this release! This newest ROM comes in two versions, one with Windows Live, and one without....which is a feature that many have always wanted, but few cooks have ever delivered. He has also managed to remove over 300 useless files from the Windows folder, which makes boot time, folder switching time, everything loads faster...simply because Windows doesnt have to load all of those files anymore! The only downside that I can find is that the customization at the begining is quite long, but it is worth it people! The only other ROM besides TNT to get a 5 out of 5!

i'd have to say i like 20273 Hornet 0.1 a lot very fast and very stable i had a lot of issues running beta 3 of TNT it seems like hornet .1 might be my last rom my wizard battery charging input is becoming lose making it harder for me to charge my phone and install roms

Hornet V1 has for me issues too in batt just... remove all the batt indicators, like Ariel's and Quick menu... sorry for the tip. I already wrote it on ROM hornets thread.
Hornet V2 is more Vanilla and has a little taste of DIAMOND, non honey HEHEHEHE. I like it much more than V1 so lets wait the V3.

It should then be in the drop down list of search engines to choose from.
I think this is a GREAT idea but needs MUCH MORE ROMS and links. These are the one's that, I assume, are still in development but there are plenty of "oldies but goodies" that should be also added. Also, this isn't a major issue, but if you put spaces between "link=" and "actual link" then you can click on the links instead of copying and pasting them. Just a couple suggestions but again EXCELLENT IDEA and this SHOULD BE STICKIED!!!

I flashed my Uni with this one 6.5 rom and for now it's good, speed is good, start up free memory - 25 mb, touch scrolling has some improvements, standart 6.1 look, stable, camera don't work, only Chinese

That Chinese rom (I'm using it now) is only WM6.5 core ported to 6.1 rom, in the About tab stays "Windows Mobile 6.1"
