There may be a shortcut, I don't know, but the only way I can see to enter this is to press FN and the space bar, then hit the "more" at the lower left of the screen twice. It's the second from the left in the second row.

Press the blue FN plus the SPACE BAR that when pressed togeter is SYM = SYMBOLS and there you go...

Highlighting text using keyboard

I do a bit of text editing on my Palm and don't like having to take the stylus out of its silo when I'm using the keyboard, just to move text.
So how do I select text using the keyboard?
The Treo manual says:
Highlighting text
You can use the 5-way or the stylus to
highlight text on the screen:
• 5-way: Press and hold Shift ( or
) while pressing Right , Left ,
Up , or Down to extend the
highlight in that direction.
Click to collapse
I must be doing something wrong, but I can't get that to work.
Hi,
The 5 way button moves you round a text (email, SMS etc) the same way your cursor keys do on your pc.
If you hold the shift key on your treo the 5 way button will highlight: > next character, < preceding character, v line below, ^ line above.
Multiple presses while still holding shift allow you to select large blocks of text easily.
Cheers
Angus

Yes, that's what the manual says. My point is that it doesn't work. Not for me. Not on my device.
The Shift key works. Pressing it (either the left or right one) displays the "up arrow" icon. The 5-way button works - I can move the cursor. Pressing and holding the shift while using the 5-way button doesn't do anything (i.e. I just move the cursor around the text without selecting anything).
Just goes to prove - should have checked it, it doesn't do what the manual says at all - although it does work on my old treo 600. What a pain!
yes, i have been email to palm, and also call up to palm. they say it is a mistake from palm company, and will update the rom soon!! OMG!!! That`s Suck!!!

Way to stop Backspace becoming delete in Fn mode?

I used to have a Blue Angel, now I have a Kaiser - both suffer from the same annoyance.
In Fn mode, the Backspace (delete to left of cursor) becomes Delete (Delete to right of cursor) and the arrow keys turn into other things as well.
The backspace issue would be circumventable if the left arrow still worked, you could do LEFT, DEL instead of BKSP.
All I would like is some way to be able to punch in numbers but still be able to access BKSPACE...
Thank god it works as I want in the phone dial screen on the kaiser (automatically assumes number on key not letter) which was the main reason I wanted something like this, but some way to have a fn lock that only changes the keys with numbers on them rather than all the blue Fn symbols (ie changing bksp) would be nice too.
Any ideas?

How to get rid of "word completion" in SMS ?

I thought I turned all T9 and word completion off everywhere I found, but still when writing SMS I see this bar at bottom of the screen echoing my typing. It also has + sign on right.
So this is T9 right? How the hell do I get rid of it?
Hi Taajuus,
I have a 'T9' printed on the SPACE key of the slide out keyboard, you can reach through the 'FN' key.
So in SMS typing mode with the slide out Keyboard, press FN - Space, a pop up menu appears where you can configure T9 settings.
Hope that helps
T.
There should be a slider on the actual on-screen keyboard itself to deselect T9. Give that a shot.
Yes! That did the trick, thank you!
Still there was no option to simple tick off T9, but i chose ABC and my problem was solved

Brilliant this has been annoying me too... as usual a simple answer to the most annoying problems...

Adding new Fn Keys

Is there a keyboard remapping program that could allow me to add the characters "<" and ">" into "Fn + N" and "Fn + M"? I hope that's not confusing. I happen to use shifty eyes a lot, and it's a lot handier than having to enter the symbol menu all the time.

keyboard registering wrong key press

I've got a problem with my Galaxy tab 2 - 10.1. When I press a key on the keyboard is is often displaying the key next to it rather than the key I have pressed.
It might also show on the screen the letter I have pressed plus the one beside it. So for example, I might press 'e' and it' bring up the letter 'e' and 'w'
When I am moving the screen around also, It will zoom in and out on the screen rather than just move it around.
I'm using the stock Samsung ROM.
Thanks in advance
