I just buyed Touch Pro / Raphael from vodafone with or without branding, I am not sure, because I paid full price without provision and vodafone hotline told me that they do not have something blocked.
At the moment I need to use it with my t-mobile sim card until I could move with my number to vodafone.
I can do phone calls and also can receive emails from a pop3 account, after I received a sms from t-mobile with "correct" internet settings,
but I am not able to start eighter internet explorer or opera to get internet access. When I download my emails, it seems to be connected trough t-mobile roaming partner etisalat. Crazy.
When I use a prepaid vodafone sim card, opera will run, of course I changed back to vodafone settings.
My problem is that I need support, because I am on a business trip in dubai and need to have internet access with my phone, otherwise I need to ask someone in the lobby to use his connection.
Do I need something like supercid or what is the reason for that??
Many thanks for your support in advance!!
ROM 1.90.162.5 Ger

Radio 1.02.25.19
Protocol 52.33.25.174
Is nobody able to answer this question, or is it too stupid?
I really need support, because it is very important for me to have internet access.
PLEASE HELP!!
dont really understand your problem...
but, you either have your device set to raoming or you are out side of tmobile coverage and it austomatically puts you onto the roaming carrier. this roaming carrier may be blocking data...
I also do not understand that issue. Roaming is working, also with data, because I tried to get access with a umts card from someone else.
Could this be a question branding and what is to do to recover it? Sometime ago you could do this yourselve (for my old wizard), but meanwhile it looks only like earning money, right?
Tomorrow I will leave and then I try at home again.

Hi,
Could someone tell me if I could simply put a T-Mobile sim with web and walk tarrif into the trinity or any other non T-Mobile 3g phone and still get free internet access and msn messenger. Or do I specifically have to use their phones with their own version of browsers and messenger.
Need to know this before deciding which network and phone to go for.
Thanks
I have the same question
I have a SPV-M3100, but I don't know how to get connection settings for
T-Mobile Web n Walk service.
I have searched the forum, but no clear result.
Thank you first if anyone can have an idea.
here in the Netherlands you could do that. You should be able to get a sim-only with w&w and put that sim in any unlocked phone. This is not a logical choice here in the Netherlands since we get great deals when combined with a T-mobile branded phone. T-mobile the Netherlands is promoting some nokia phones as well...(N73)
Shouldn't be a problem - I've used my WnW SIM in several WM 3G and non 3G phones. Just set the apn / usrname / password to
GPRS APN address: general.t-mobile.uk
Username : user
Password: wap
and left everything else at default.
just wrote bloody long post and pc crashed in internet cafe-
so gonna write a short one now.
i am running darkforce wm6-very stable does what i want it to do in the uk
howvever in stockholm at present and cannot browse internet or send/recieve email for what will amount to the same the problem.
the handset is obvioulsy unlocked and with t-mobile,but when abroad last year with different wm5 roms -no problems everything worked fine, have spoken to t-mobile who are about as much use as a choclate tea pot
1) when trying to connect to internet-it does nothing-if i force the connection and get it use the csd t-mobile -i get 'failed to dial' message
2) when trying to retrive pop3 email(no exchange server involved) get new message about extra charge as roaming and then it try to connect for a spilt second before displaying error syncronising
i can roam all networks pick everything up?
please help people
hello,
I've no probleme with data connection when roaming my provider is SFR (france) and roaming provider is proximus (belgium).
Have you trying with another roaming provider ?
as many as i can try telia, vodafone se ,iq etc etc
no joy-beginning toi think it is to do with t-mobile
also without stating the obvious, as and when i can find a free wifi-everything works
are you having prob only with your data connection?? back in uk (?) were you using 3g or gprs and lastly in setting/phone/ is the band set to wcdma (3g) or gprs
in uk had set data to auto all have tried every over type- but still does not explain why it worked seamless before -it either is something within the wm6 rom(i doubt) or t-mobile(proable)
but as i m traveling as soon as i get back i would like to get to the bottom of it.
It may not be your Universal - it may be your provider
Did you inform T-Mobile that you were going overseas? They need to activate international roaming on your account...
I've seen this problem before (working in a phone shop and all...), a customer from country xxxxx can't make\receive calls - because international roaming is not active on their account
Roaming worked on WM5, now not on WM6
Hi
I had similar problems. While Roaming previously (From SA (MTN), roaming in Mauritius (on Cellplus and Emtel) under WM5, I had no problems with SMS (text) or data calls.
Recently upgraded to WM6 (Laurentius' V7 VideoCall) and when landing in Mauritius last week, I could not send SMS(text) or connect data. It picked up the network. I did not test normal voice calls, since I usually dont make any while roaming. I simply used my sim card in a different handset for the week, but it was very frustrating, since Ive come to rely heavily on data access while travelling overseas (for email, skype, etc)
Regards

Could also be Radio Ver
Hi all, Could you all edit your posts and enter your Radio SStack Ver ?
And if you can remember what Ver you were on when it used to work on WM5.
As stated in the post, the 1.18 Stack had updates for roaming, I haven't had a chance to test it myself, could anyone provide feedback on roaming with 1.18.
Cheers,
Beast
dark force(excellent) and radio 1.15 will try upgrade as leave country in a few weeks
I roam between China, Hong Kong and Taiwan a lot. It appears data works better with some local service providers only. So what I do is when travelling to a new place, know which local providers data network 'roams' better with my China Mobile, by manually selecting, and trying, one by one, on the phone control panel, network selection part. Once I found one that worked, then I manually fix to that one.
Now everytime I travel to a different region, I just do, phone control panel->network->manual-> choose the known good one.
I hope this works in your situation and network providers.

When I got my HTC Touch Cruise, I put in my Vodafone SIM card. It did not mention anything about 3G, and internet was slow as hell (GPRS)
After Opera got stuck, and I hard resetted the device, I found out the 3G network was connected. I was happy with 3G and HSDPA. Now my connection was of a real good use.
But, when I switched it into airplane mode today, and then out, it only found GPRS network. That's strange.
I thought it was a temporary problem which would go away with a reset. Not.
Maybe if I'd try Manual network selection... Also no solution.
Now I am fed up with this. I already called Vodafone, they tried their best but couldn't help me any further.
Does this mean I have to hard reset my device again to use the 3G connection again
I had the same problem, when i called my carrier, they didn't know anything about the Polaris (including that it even exists)... But, the Hard Reset fixed it, and has been working like a charm after that. At first i thought it was a registry edit caused the problem, but couldn't reproduce it.
I Got the same problem afte ruse the "plane configuration" but after a hard reset nothing happened...
any idea?
Hi RobbinM,
This could be a number of things relating to your device your SIM or our network. There are a few things you can try to rule out some of these first.
Try doing a full manual roam first by selecting another network on your phone and then choosing Vodafone UK to update. Then try to reconnect to 3G.
After that, try your SIM in another 3G device to see if you're able to connect with that. If you are then it's likely to be a phone problem. If it still doesn't find 3G then you could try another SIM in your phone for Vodafone and see if that connects to 3G, if it does then it is possibly a SIM problem.
The only way to rule out a network problem would be if you can connect to 3G on another phone with your SIM.
After trying this, if you're still unable to connect to 3G at all with your SIM or another phone and SIM, we'd need to take a look at your account and check for possible 3G faults in your area.
To get in touch you can contact us using our online contact us form here on the Vodafone.co.uk website here. In the body of your e-mail somewhere use the code FIT135, this will then route the e-mail to our queue here to work for you. Remember to put the info in the contact form relating to your Vodafone mobile number, we'll then be able to have a look for you and get back without having to ask you for more info first.
We'll look out for your e-mail. Good luck with the tests above. Perhaps include the results in your e-mail to help us diagnose the problem.

I also tried hard reset like 5 times, in different ways, with or without SIM installed when resetting.... Still no 3G.
I contacted vodafone here, they told me it was a problem in the phone itself. But I'm not sure since a hard reset didn't solve anything.
i tried out hsdpa/3g for the first time last night by turning on data connection in comms manager .. but all i got was errors when dialing? do i need to input anything in the proxy/modem connection settings?
help please
thanks
just rang o2 who said the HTC phones likewise blackberry phones are not compatible with O2 payg for internet servies :S i asked why they were then find for contract but was told that there are difference settings for payg/contracts which will only work with the appropriate sim. ... what can I do now? Is this going to be the same for all network's payg options?
please help ... anyone who is on a payg contract wth a sim free raphael or with any other suggestions.
thanks
thats a lot of rubbish!
go to settings >connections> ad new connection
use payandgo.o2.co.uk (or payasyougo.o2.co.uk dont remember) as acces point, payandgo as user password as paswword . thats it. if it doesnt connect use 193.113.200.195:8080 as proxy
i have to say that i've got terrible connection with o2 3g! keeps catting connection to the net (not actual connection) you have to disconnect anc connect again. i dont know if it is network or phone
Hi everyone, I have a HD2 running Windows Phone 7 but I am having problems and I want to check with anyone on Giffgaff if they have the same problems.
I have my phone setup correctly and all the bars have been lifted by Giffgaff, my email works, I can watch Youtube fine and I can surf without fine and I can remote desktop to servers at work.
But the problem I have is I cant use XBox live and I cant download anything from the marketplace (I can browse the marketplace fine) I just get the dots across the top of the screen then after a minute or two it says there is a problem and to try later.
If I connect via WiFi then everything is fine and if I pop in my old Orange sim card and configure accordingly that works also. So I know there is nothing wrong my my Live account or my phone its something to do with Giffgaff.
So does anyone here have a WP7 phone on Giffgaff? does everything work for you?? I have tried on the Giffgaff forums but no luck. You guys are my last hope.
Thanks in advance.
Hi mate,
I have an Omnia 7 with a GiffGaff SIM in the phone and its running fine. Not sure why it wouldn't work on your considering you've got browsing and youtube working.
Anything you need me to check, give us a shout.
Cheers
Jas
Thanks Jazzyuk, did yours work straight off? did you have to configure Giffgaff manually and did you have to get anything changed on your account?
I ask because at first I could not access the marketplace at all and when Giffgaff lifted the adult bar I can browse the marketplace but not purchase anything. XBox live has never worked for me.
Thanks again.
Hi mate,
I didn't have to do anything related to my account. I got the giffgaff sim on Wednesday, put it in my phone, setup the APN details on the phone and it worked from there. Didn't have to do anything else.
Sorry not much help other than that...
Jas
Ok thanks for your help
you have to activate your phone
wp7 licence is bounded to the device. hd2 wp7 emulates hd7. you have to call microsoft to get it activated. live services needs this activation. it does not have anything to do with your sim.
its a port and basically you are using illegal copy of wp7. you need to call microsoft to activate the phone. how to do this? use the search button or just browse the hd2 wp7 forum.
p/s: in my country, calling to activate will not work anymore because they are asking you to bring your phone over - so no dice there.
I have activated with Microsoft (twice I did not keep the code first time) and as mentioned via WiFi or Orange everything is fine and tried with different roms which is why I was looking at my operator as I have eliminated practically everything else.
But thanks anyway
Just in case anyone else is following this thread, I flashed one of the new NoDo HD2 roms and everything works
Thanks for everyone who helped.

Exactly the same issue with HTC Titan.
Mine is Windows 7.5 7740/7720 the recent update that we had yesterday.
---------- Post added at 08:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:55 PM ----------
Here I found the solution: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-gb/howto/wp7/apps/download-apps-and-games-faq.aspx
I hope it will help future WP7.5 users and giffgaffers!
Add the apn settings manually, that worked for me
Copied from the GiffGaff pages...
Connection Name: giffgaff - GPRS
APN - Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Proxy Server Address: 193.113.200.195
Proxy Port:8080
Login - Username: giffgaff
Password: password
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Open settings, mobile network then add apn and fill in what you can, also make sure the adult bar has been removed from your account.
Same problem here, new to GiffGaff and can't download any apps. Can browse to them but just hangs installing.
Only thing I haven't done yet is remove the adult bar as the web page doesn't appear to be working.
What is ''Giffgaff'' ?
Giffgaff is a new mobile operator in the UK (check my sig)
Get the adult bar removed and make sure you have the apn settings correct

GiffGaff is one of the UK's newest and best sounding PAYG network around. However, it isn't worth anyones time or money. The service is constantly messing up, I have had several weekends over the 9 months with them were I couldn't call in or out and couldn't send receive text messages, I get text messages coming through at random hours, literally days after they were sent. My girlfriend is on it too, we once tried to make a call from my phone to hers in the same room and it kept going to her answer phone. '3' offer essentially the same thing as their £10 deal for £15, and I was more than happy to fork over an extra £5 a month for a network that worked properly.
GiffGaff is good for kids, but for an adult who uses it as a business number also? Not in the slightest. Their customer service consists of a forum (one of the reasons they can be cheaper) where people spam you with the same reply and tell you that you are wrong because theirs is working fine ¬¬ it was one massive nightmare. I'd strongly suggest everyone stays away from their crap.
Not wanting to take away from Siksik6 problem but here's my twopece worth.
Ive been on Orange, Vodaphone, O2 and Virgin mobile and out of all of them Giffgaff has worked the best.
I had no connectivity one weekend in November last year but that transpired to be an O2 issue and it was just data only. Calls and txt were fine and the few times I have used the forums for help I have always got help from other members.
I personally would recommend Giffgaff to anyone

This is the problem with the network.
People are so quick to get £5 through a refferal sim (they pay you through paypal to tell other it is a good network and get them to order a sim from your link) that they are willing to pretend it's "better" than any other network. I'd believe you if you said it was a good network, but better? in what ways? the 3G isn't even as fast as O2's!
I seriously suggest everyone go take a long at the mess of a 'customer service' forum there before even considering going there (every single thread is a mess of 20 things saying the same thing, people telling new members they are wrong and that the service isn't bad and is 98% total illiterate gibberish)
You know what a proper mobile networks forum has? Hardly anything because they don't constantly have problems from everything from sign up to complete phone blackouts.
And yes, sorry to steal the thread, but people shouldn't believe it is good. £5 more on any other network for the same deal will seriously do you more good. If you have problems you press a button and sort it out.
