Difference between raphael model variants.....check this ! - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I was curious to know the difference between the At&t fuze and the htc touch pro so i checked the raphael wiki here and they supplied a comparison table....
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacom...&id4=1362&id5=1559&id6=1363&id7=1320&id8=1547
The problem is according to the table both have a secondary camera for video call, while i noticed in the pic the fuze had none ! is this a mistake ?

different hardware camara in mda compact (magician)?

Hi,
a few days ago I received a new Magician in change for my old one because of problems with the bluetooth-stack.
It had the latest T-Mobile Rom with camera V2.70 Built 21026.
After backup with Spritebackup it had the former camversion built 20117.
I took sveral photos in poor light on nightmodus and the pics were great.
So I thought that the new Rom has also a better performance with the cam.
But I had to change the magician again because of malfunction of the sim-slot.
The next new magician, btw the same Rom, the same cam built 20117 has the known poor pics (snow-effect...).
But see, these pics were taken with two different Magicians at the same place, same light, same settings, but such extreme difference in quality.
Can someone explain, how this is possible?

Choices: Touch or Touch Cruise?

Hi there, can u guys help me.
I'm planning to buy a PDA phone, ultimately the choices fell to either the HTC Touch or the Touch Cruise. Been reading a lot, so I know that the Touch is a bit slow, but the TCruise has driver problems.. Basically what I need is good all-around PDA, WLAN and fast processing is a must. Touch is offered at ~$500 and the TCruise at ~$800. Perhaps I would go with the Touch, if the current ROMs + o/c'ing could help improve the speed.
Which is worth the money? How bout overclocking solutions for the TCruise? Any other recommendations? Thanks, guys.
My vote
(provided I have the $$$$)
Cruise. Because of the 3G
Hi,
How's ur experience with your Touch?
Any slowdowns or anything?
Cheers!
Cruise is the only way to go...why don't you just take this ppc for a test drive to see if u like it?

My Touch is fast, hence it's only WM6 prof edition. I am still waiting for all the bugs fixed before attempting to upgrade to WM6.1.
I guess I am lucky, because I am running 4gb Sandisk and all my programs are installed onto the Storage Drive, and not on the main drive.
Ow that's great. How about overclocking and video playback at VGA res?
I am using HTC touch and its working fine..
I have no issue of slow processing..
there are some reg tricks to increase performance also
only thing it lacks is 3g.. so if you want latest phone technology and dont have money prblem then go with cruise else touch is never been bad option ..
Touch Cruise is my choice and I have both the Orbit 2 (which is a badged Touch Cruise) and the wife uses a Touch so I can compare them, the Touch is short on memory and a little sluggish when you start up a few programs, the biggest advantage the Touch Cruise has is the 3G/ HSDPA and built in GPS - well worth the price differential - Mike
The "driver" issue is just that it's hardware is not being used by its fully potential because of a lack of a video driver, isn't it?
yes, but it means that it's really slow in graphic intensive apps, because of the missing acceleration. Even the normal touch should be faster in such apps (games, video playback...).
Btw: I got the touch, and compared to other devices (e.g. hermes @ 400mhz) i think it's not that bad as everyone says.
I would take the touch again (i got the ELFin with 128mbs of ram), because it's a pretty small, stylish, cheap and also fast device. (At least i found _no_ apps, which the touch could not handle).
Thats a high price for either phone. I sell the Enhanced Touch & the Touch Cruise for much less then both prices you listed. I am not saying to buy from me, but I am saying that you should not be paying those prices for either phone.
I love the Touch Enhanced because of its size. I love the Touch Cruise because of its 3G.
I am using an Atom life. It is basically the size of the Touch (minus the Flush Screen) but has a processor thats 3 times as fast (great for watching videos) and has 1900 for US 3G.
I am using HTC Touch Elfin (128MB RAM and 256MB ROM) and its working fine..but, I Like cruise because of its 3G, GPS, more faster (400Mhz)..but high price (1200u$d in Argentina) .

Here is a report on some "quality time" with the Touch Pro on Cnet Asia... sounds promissing - and honestly: I like Touchflo with the upcoming TouchXperience a lot more than the Xperia Interface...

Nice sir, very nice.
Arne Hess also commented that he is going to post footage of the TV out feature and a running touch pro very soon
Should be nice...
Regarding the getting started video: I really like the fact that TouchFlo 3D really appears to be silky smooth now... I cannot wait any longer XD
Yup, i noticed that too, very smooth!
Software Review
I can't wait for the software review it should be good. I bet there are some differences compared to the Diamond.

i would guess, the extra ram should make a big diff in the TF3d performance compared to the diamond... right?

At least in the software video it appears to be the case. The TouchFlo 3D interface is very smooth and responsive.
I hope they are going to tweak TouchFlo in landscape mode a bit more to make it more "shiny". But honestly using the keyboard this is more than sufficient. What do you want with the weather panel while using the keyboard? Being able to access all the typing applications quickly with the keyboard out makes most sense to me.
And I guess that using the home button while being in any other application while sliding out the keyboard will bring you back to the landscape touch flo interface (3D it is not... )
damnit. my Nokia N73 committed suicide. It literally hanged and the service point says it can not be repaired. problem with the board.
I need this phone to be released immediately. =\

Lol @ the voice, wasn't any human available so they hired a robot?
Now being more serious, I expected more from the landscape mode, but I don't think that's a huge problem.

I don't like how they did away with all the hardware buttons. That's going to be a pain-in-the-rear.

I agree 100%. This alone might make be enough to make me jump ship (and the driver debacle, that too). The jog wheel means that much to me.

its a TOUCH category , so it should have less HW keys
I dont want to seem funny or anything, but in what little I can find out about this phone, I have deduced that it is everything the touch diamond is... except for it has a keyboard... and that the landscape "touchflo 3d" is pretty much 8 icons...
please, someone tell me im wrong and that ive missed something here...
Touch Pro has:
More RAM (288MB)
LED light for camera
Hardware keyboard
Higher battery capacity
TV out
microSDHC slot (instead of built-in 4GB in Diamond)
it's possible that I forgot something...
more RAM ay... i guess it depends on whether it really will speed up things, or whether itll go back to the usual problem of the graphics drivers being non-exsistant.
Personally, and im probably on my own here, it just seems that the pro will be £100+ more because it has a keyboard and a few more little things... dont get me wrong, i got my kaiser because i love having a real qwerty etc, i just wish that it had a bit more "oomph" behind it than the diamond... and some graphic drivers

Weight of 165g opposed the 110g from Diamond
comes with Worldcard mobile and JetCet print pre-installed.....??
Nah, doesn't excite me either!
Anyhoo, you end up with around 200MB Program memory and 320MB Storage Memory just after a hard reset. That's more than on my advantage!!
No demo of the camera in the software demo huh? That's not usually a good sign.

Video recording resolution, Increase to altleast VGA ?

Hi, I cant wait till this phone comes out. The phone really rocks in every way. But the max it will record video at is only CIF (352x288 @ 20fps).
Ive seen a software before for other PPC phones called CoolCamera, that allowed higher resolutions on other phones, for example the Hermes (TYTN).
Is it possible for the devs here to maybe enable higher resolutions through the registry ? Even if its only 15fps. It would rock.
There was a thread awhile ago on the forums where you could enable higher video bit rate via reg hacks.
So do you guys think it can be done ?
CoolCamera link : http://www.ateksoft.com/features.html
Well, I am also concerned with the same matter.
Seeing the Raphael is coming out soon, alot of matter will be discussed and this can just be burried.
If you find a solution; create a thread with it as it is goin to come in handy
For now, there is no solution. Many people tried it on Diamond. I think we can say, that Diamond and Raphael are unable to do VGA records. BTW: This ios becouse some graphic chip. Better cameras (mobile) has only chip, no CPU like our phone, just dedicated photo saving chip, wchich allows them to work with 7 and more Mpx cameras. Even 624 MHz CPU can not do same work.

Yeah but still, look at the SE X1. It has the same chip as the Touch Pro and the Diamond but still does 30fps.
Yeah, one of the things I'm really sad about.
Was looking forward to the X1 till TP showed up.
TBH, was worried about the unusual screen size of X1 and no TV out.
Plus people seem to complain abt the QWERTY which is and important thing for me.
So, TP is the device for me; hopefully

After this I thought, OK lets get another phone that fits the bill. The only other one which has a VGA recorder and keyboard would be the Nokia E90.
So ive just come back from the local phone shop. They had a working E90 so I could test it. And guess what ? Apart from the VGA recording the Touch Pro is way better than the E90.
So ive decided the get the Touch Pro even if the video recording isnt good enough.
This has been a problem since the Kaiser days. There has to be something the devs here can do ? There has to be a way to up the res to VGA.
By the way does removing the lens cover from back (battery cover) improve quality like it did on the Kaiser ? Cause then I am gonna pop the glass out.

Nokia? Buying a non-touchscreen phone in 2008 is like using a computer with no mouse. You can do it, but it will be a lot less comfortable and productive.
Even the latest Nokias feel like phones from 5 years ago. And I do mean that literally, because I had a Nokia once (N-Gage QD) and I have used an N95 and they are both equally bad.
Unless someone only wants to take pictures with the phone, I can't find a reason to buy one.

Dont know if you read my whole post or not but thats exactly what I am saying the Touch Pro is a way better phone and thats what I am getting (Touch Pro). Just hope we can somehow fix the cameras recording res.
Don't worry too much about this, the SE X1 is almost exactly the same device inside as the Touch PRO, so when the SE X1 comes out I'm sure someone will release a hacked driver which works on the Touch PRO to enable VGA resolution video capture at 30fps

Thats what I am hoping for !
Hmm, TV-out is new thing, so I dont think that it is something that you need, for me it is thing that you use only few times in a year, maybe. About 3O FPS at VGA, yes, same chip, but something must be different. Raphael and Diamond would have it. There must be some hardware reason, becouse why to not include this nice feature, if hardwar can do it?
HTC have limited the hardware before too, like the Trinity camera and 3D on the Kaiser.

Yes, I did read, I just meant it was an unfair comparison, because any modern PDA phone is years ahead of a Nokia.
I believe there are some licensing and patent issues regarding full 30 fps VGA recording in USA, which is why the Xperia will have VGA recording in Europe but only 15 fps CIF in USA.
Surur
Can't wait to pop in cool cam into this one.
Maybe clean the whole rom just to get the most out of Video recording.

Countdown 15 days ? For what ? Are they releaseing a CoolCamera for the Touch Pro ?
coolcamera 1.15.1 doesn't work on the Touch Pro, What a bummer. Ateksoft hasn't updated Coolcamera in over a year.

[Q] Different models of DS?

Hi guys.Yesterday one of my friends observed a difference between my desire s and his desire s.
I'll tell you the difference between my and his phone (strange that mine is made in china and his is in Taiwan....why?!?!):
Audio jack is lower and smaller.
My front camera has a bigger and larger opening.
Front speaker has a bigger covering.
All my buttons are more protruding.
SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH!
P.S. My DS is original(i bought it from vodafone).
As far as i know there is only 1 model
perhaps you could upload some pictures?
i guess these are small variations that exist in the same model made in different places. One of you may have gotten the device from some other country, or it may have been imported to the store. The model is the same, the differences you mention are no reason to worry
