Urgent! PIE stopped working... help! - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Moto Q (original). Was installing some new programs, trying out some new things, now Pocket IE won't start. Error message comes up:
"Alert!
Can't find 'MortScript' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available."
I was using MortScript to make the Bluetooth easier to turn on/off, and recently implemented the "disable battery fully charged" hack, but those were working fine until today.
Installed some things like: dif't versions of JBED Esmertec, JZSmartMort (probably the problem?), SprintTV (doesn't work on the Moto Q, I know, but I wanted to try... ), pocketNester Plus, zaDesktopSP, and BeyondPOD.
I tried uninstalling JZSmartMort, but no luck. Also tried uninstalling/reinstalling MortScript, sometimes to storage card, sometimes to device, still no luck.
Any ideas? Shortcut appears to be still pointing to the executable, but I can't find an "MSPIE.EXE" in the \Windows folder?
pie.lnk is: "21#:MSPIE?(colon)pieapp" (replaced : with colon to avoid smiley)
Help, please. Thanks...

nevermind. figured it out. Googled some dif't terms and discovered that the associations had not been cleaned up after an uninstall of that JZ crap. RegEdit to the rescue.
(to be fair, maybe not crap, but doesn't clean up after itself very well!)

Blueplayer could = better A2DP sound

If anyone here has tried to use an i.tech stereo headset (like the R35 or S35) or other A2DP headset and has been dissapointed with the sound quality (commonly referred to as a "ringing" distortion or hissing over the sound) using the A2DP for tornado hack, its because the MS Bluetooth Stack isn't 100% compatible with all (most) headsets. Its particularly noticeable on i.tech, but the reduced quality is true on many others as well.
In case you didn't know, Blueplayer is a standalone app that streams music to A2DP headphones even if the phone doesn't support A2DP in its own stack! That means any phone with bluetooth (some even claim older 1.1 devices as well) can bypass the usual MS stack in our devices and stream stereo sound directly to a compatible headset!
The software was written for Nokia S60 devices initially, but there have been Pocket PC and java versions (only compatible with specific phones) released since then as well.
I'm very annoyed by the sound quality of my itech R35 paired with my imate SP5. I'm 100% sure that software such as blueplayer would solve this problem. However, the PPC and java versions don't seem to work on my device.
Can anyone help me figure out how to make this work? I tried extracting the files from the PPC cab file, but its complaining about missing libraries. The install may add some things to the registry that I'm missing.
Better yet, does anyone have anything like this for WM Smartphone?
what are you missing? I got blueplayer running with my S35 and the quality is excellent and range good(for me)...
Unfortunately I am using a Wizard...
I wish I could get it working!
I can't figure out what it is, but I'm having trouble.
Normally I can make any app work (even if its for PPC) by pulling the files off of a PPC installation, and run the .exe on my smartphone and it just works.
But I keep get errors about libraries not existing or being in the wrong place. I need to figure out exactly what happens when the app is installed- what files go where, any registry changes, etc... There's gotta be a way to make it work on smartphone!
From memory,
There are a few files and registry settings that I can remember but barely, but if you want I can try to install it again. I removed it because I don't use MP3s anymore..
Yeah, if you don't mind helping me out, that'd be amazing (also for the smartphone community as a whole).
Why don't u use mp3's anymore?
I can just look up the settings for you, you got to do the work ;-)...
I find them too large for my 1Gb MiniSD, using AAC+ now... nice quality and file size.
Just PM me what you want to know...
Well, I don't know what kind of entries this will place in the registry. To be honest, I'm not sure how to check myself either. Is there a way to tell EXACTLY what a .cab does?
Found it!
Interesting program for those in my situation:
http://thinkabdul.com/2006/12/20/ms...nformation-from-windows-mobile-cab-xml-files/
lets you see exactly what steps a cab installation goes through. Any reg. items, what the actual filenames are, what directories they are placed in, etc...
Amazing little tool.
However, I still haven't gotten blueplayer to work on my sp5... I wonder why?
thanks for the link, I needed something like that as well, going to compare the differences in the Widcomm bluetooth hacks...
BTW, how do you get blueplayer to work on a smartphone anyway without the touch screen?
Oh, simulating a touchscreen is easy... most apps let you navigate using the joystick, but it gets annoying and sometimes a touch is needed to click (for example an ok button).
There's a great little app call SPhelper that places a mouse pointer on your screen that can be navigated using the directional joystick, and "clicked" like a screen tap.
Its pretty cool.
Anyway, the problem is that I can't get Blueplayer to operate, even with all the .dll files in the right places. It says its missing something.

Here's all I know:
I poked around in the .cab installation and found that there are 4 .dll's that go in the \windows dir (msibtstk.dll, msibtapi.dll, CHS.dll and TW.dll), and two .exe program files that go in program files\msi\blueplayer (STLoader.exe, and MPOBCE.exe). AFAIK, there don't seem to be any registry entries that it inserts.
Now, I've done this with PPC apps before, normally all I have to do is run the .exe after all files are in place, and it will work (obviously with some minor annoyances due to missing the touch screen).
However, every time I hit MPOBCE.exe, all I get is:
"Alert
Can't find MPOBCE or one of its components. Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available."
There's gotta be something I'm overlooking... Anyone?
No man, there are some(I found some) entries, but I thought you were set and removed them already..
will reinstall and get back to you again...
BTW do you do a full backup of your phone? I use SPB backup and it is good..
oh, cool, I couldn't find any... let me know!
entries but not sure if working...
Here are the two registry inputs(rename to *.txt) I found on my system.. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work this time as I am using Widcomm bluetooth stack... wonder why.... Last time I used this was with MS Stack on...

No, that makes sense. The Nokia one is designed to operated by tunnelling through the s60 stack, and the WinCE version was most likely designed assuming the MS one.
No go... I entered all this stuff exactly like you said, and I get the same errors.
Interesting to note is the drivers reg keys already existed!
It appears that the other exe (stloader.exe) did run and I think entered those keys. The actual program tho, seems to not run (and therefore never entered the proper keys, I'm guessing).
Sorry man.. to get your hopes up..
Right now, I got Axim Widcomm Stack running on my Wizard, but still get the memory issue after a long time powering off bluetooth.
oh well, back to waiting and testing new stacks..
Hey, I've got another idea if you wouldn't mind helping me some more...
Could you try to manually install it the way I've been doing on your pocket PC device?
The reason I ask is because it will determine if there's some sort of PPC-specific code (which I don't think I've ever encountered or even heard of before).
I attached the files and directory structure that I extracted from the cab. If you could, please try uninstalling BluePlayer and tell me if you can get this to run by manually copying the files here.
If it doesn't work for you either, than its because my method is flawed and I'm missing something here... and I shouldn't give up yet!
ok, I will give it a go, but most probably I can only go as far as getting the program to run... Feel comfortable with the widcomm stack, don't feel like disabling it..
just give me a few hours.. my stupid SD USB card reader not working properly... got to look for my cable.. damn!!
good news is, the program starts with the exceptions
1)at first start after putting the files in place, the program starts a few times with the L2Cap error...
2)After a few failed restarts, followed by a softreset, the registry settings in drivers(L2Cap..) are in place and the program runs without error.
3)Now it's up to you to test it with MS stack bluetooth on, as I cannot confirmed this for you.. good luck buddy...

Removing the system tray WM5 & WM6!!

ah ha amen!
I've searched for months for an answer to removing the system tray on WM5 & WM6
Edit your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplt
Export the Trayapplt string just to be safe you can merge it back if you change your mind.
Once exported delete the Trayapplt string completely and then soft reset your device.
System tray gone and the space is usable
Enjoy
You could have just removed the Init_Tray.lnk in the windows startup folder.
I afraid for most people that doesnt work as they dont even have that link file. I think the difficulty with the system tray is that different people have different circumstances. Some people can remove the int_tray link but If you search the web your'll see a lot of people desperate for a alternative method as they do not have this file on their devices.
It maybe the case that my method may not work for everybody but until someone produces a stable app to remove the system tray we'll keep searching for the best way individually to achieve this.
Sorry, didn't realize that that link didn't exist on all WM devices, but I haven't owned every device to know that. There are however programs that force the system tray such as DotFreds task manager and MyMobiler, etc, which even removing the Init_Tray.lnk doesn't fix because the icons will create their own system tray. Does your fix for it stop them from doing that? If it does, then I might just have to try your fix out for myself.
So far ive been running this setup for 2 days.
I use xcpuscaler which 110% uses a system tray icon whilst running. Ive also minimised many programs and the tray has never reappeared. Im not garenteeing this will work but I do know that its worked perfectly for me.
I hope this helps and if you export the reg as I sugested if the tray doesnt stay hidden for you for some reason then you can always merge it back
Hmm, my kaiser doesn't even have that key so I guess I'm out of luck there. I'm not sure if my wizard does or not, I'm working on cooking a new ROM for it and the ROM I have on it now is kind of messed up. I'll have to check it out when I get my new one cooked though.
fair enough, it seems to be very device related, im talking intensively to a strong programmer to try and sort out something permemantely.
Im running a XDA Orbit (Artemis).
Willl post any findings here
sorry it didnt work for you

that did the trick for me - thanks
Thanks, just joined today and i am now very happy with the fact this hack worked for me
Joined the forum chasing icons and now i think i wont be able to ever leave
Thanks again.....
No TrayApplt in my registry, unfortunately. Still can't figure out how to remove the tray bar on my Vario II (WM5) permanently. Whatever I tried, nothing worked to my satisfaction..
Edit: No Init_Tray.lnk either! Still looking for solutions, every solution is very welcome as long as it works...

My Tilt doesn't have that key either. I don't use the tray, have it disabled, but Task Manager always creates it again, until I exit Task Manager.
My Wizard doesn't have that key either.
Programs I have found so far that may cause the system tray to appear:
- Dotfred's Task Manager
- My Mobiler
- Pocket Informer
- SOTI's Pocket PC Controller (or similar: I don't recall its name)
- SPB Pocket Plus
All of these can be made to not create a system tray through their respective settings or otherwise, I believe. Currently I have MyMobiler, Dotfred's, Pocket Informer and Pocket Plus installed, and I have no system tray on my Kaiser. The above registry hack didn't work for me.

Error when uninstalling WMWifiRouter

I’ve seen a few people here and at least one person over at PPCGeeks who have this issue, but no one has posted a way to resolve it.
Here’s the issue: I’m running the new stock 3.56 ROM on my Sprint Mogul. I installed WMWifiRouter 0.91, then removed it in favor of 0.80 (I read it had some advantages over 0.91). I believe I then uninstalled 0.80 to reinstall 0.91 and then decided to give WMWifiRouter the finger. I guess it knew I wanted to abandon it completely as it won’t let me uninstall it now. I get the following error:
“Jorrit Jongma WMWifiRouter was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?”
I click “Yes,” but the program still stays on the list. If I try to reinstall it, it says the installation was unsuccessful.
I’ve tried the suggestions I’ve seen which include leaving the wifi switch on during the installation/uninstallation and simply deleting the folders, but nothing helps. Is there maybe a registry edit I can perform to just tear the program from my Mogul by force? I deleted all references I could find by doing a search with Resco Explorer, but still get the same error. How did such a clean little program become so messy? If it wasn’t so flakey I’d continue to use it.

why don't you post your request to the original WMWifiRouter thread instead?
cannot remove trial WMWifirouter from Sprint Mogul
I am having the same issue with removing trial verion 0.89 from my Sprint Mogul. If any one can help, I would appreciate it.
Do you have a file on the installed programs list named "Samsung 3_1_15"? If so, delete that and it should completely remove the program (that is something that gets downloaded with the router). That's what worked for me. If you don't, try downloading sktools to remove it, I've heard that works as well.
Good luck!

Htc Touch On A Wizard

With all the files everybody has produced on this website, I'm able to get very close to my wifes phone, but not exact I have a g4 wizard. She has an elf, it's so cool, but no keyboard, hah hah. Anyway, I'd like to build a custom rom(I will read and learn all about that when I'm ready), but I need to be sure that I can get certain features to work correctly before I start rom building. I'm currently using the wizard_19855_Clean_V1 rom and it's great, stable everything works. What I'm doing:
1. Install as many of the htc apps as possible(I can't get some to work)(ie htc task manager) (I can handle this)
2. I want the htc cube to work oem. no ftouchflo, no sclpc++(f)(need help here)
3. Strip the OS of unused files to boost performance(need help here)
4. Build a new rom(I'll figure this out when I'm ready)
2. I need help with the "oem"(I think oem) cube I attached htc_touchflo.zip so everyone can see what I'm working with. Most of the files do not exist on my wizard with 19855. What I've found is that the cube will work(somewhat) with these files(- (minus) touch.dll). I've left the touch.dll that came with 19855 alone and it was bigger in size so it must do more...right? lol The first time the cube loads(by clicking on biotouch shortcut, not sure if that's right, I could preload it in startup, but...) it pulls up the contacts page and displays it correctly(but nothing works), from there I can rotate the cube with finger gestures horizontally, it's a little slow but it works 195 MHz baby, yeah. The aplauncher and mediahub are there, very minimal just blank black place holders. Okay, so a finger gesture down will "minimize" the cube, but it doesn't refresh the screen back to what was there previously. I think it will pull up again with a finger gesture(can't remember but clicking one of the shortcuts will definately bring it back), but it doesn't display correctly until you rotate horizontally. What I'm looking for: I'm wondering if there is someone willing to work with me to get the oem cube working. Probably need support for .dll files ie(touch) and then the registry, I'm fine editing the registry, but I don't know what the default settings are or should be. I've tried a couple of the cube settings apps out there and none seem to work in this scenario.
3. A link similar to slimming down windows xp: the complete guide(cool article), but for windows mobile 5-6.1. What can we pull out of this bloated os without causing issues to stability? Like pictures unused .dll files etc.
Or look at it like what really needs to be there? From there I will build my rom...Thanks in advance to anyone willing to partake.
Anyone willing to help?
In Addition
when the cube is up, the aplauncher and mediahub buttons do work, but there not mapped to anything, so it says to reinstall the application. Where is this thing pulling(looking for) this information? registry?
I think I titled my post correctly
Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree? Has this been done before? I wasn't able to find a working oem version of the cube for the wizard and I wasn't satisfied by ftouchflo and the different cube clones out there. No offense is intended, I think they are great alternatives, but I'd like to figure out the oem version. If no one is interested, that's fine, I just thought that someone else would like to see this available because I did. If anyone is available to provide guidance to me that would be gladly accepted as well. Or show me some links as to why this is not possible, that would be great so I'm not wasting my time if someone has already tried to do what I'm doing. Any replies gladly accepted, maybe it will get a conversation going, communcation can drive things as well. Thanks
Trying Attachments again...
Trying to get the attachments posted
man the touchflo dont download wotsup with dat
I tested downloading it, I had to be logged in to do so though. In the download there is a folder called cube, I put this on my start menu so I can interact with the cube when I don't know where it's at.
I think if someone could point me to or post the default registry settings for the touch, heh duh, I'll ask my wife if I can look at hers...Should be simple enough. I have an idea from a couple of posts over in the elf forum, I think her is a vogue though not sure what the difference is. Any one know? Is it just the provider model like 8125 compared to tmobile mda?
I'm trying to get each of the cube applications to open independently via a shortcut menu similar to the programs folder. Right now I have the media hub mini working, so I will copy the settings for this application to a new .reg file.
Oh, my wife's touch's files copied everything registry and files and put them on my wizard with no luck, but the registry may contain some interesting info. But all the apps are a different version though.

Similar to other post, I can't get the quickdial to work correctly. With the settings below, I can open, close, and spin the cube. The aplauncher & the media hub work. The quickdial does not, seems to open, but does not display. I can see the process running, but nothing. If your interested, here are the registry settings to get this to work:

The above settings work on my g4 wizard with only the attached htc_touchflo.zip copied to the windows directory. Anybody got a working quickdial.exe for the wizard? I've noticed there are different versions out there, maybe there is one that works. It needs to open up from the shortcut in the zip file and by no other means. Thanks
Well, I've tested different versions of the quickdial app that I've found and none of them seem to function. Am I wasting my time? Does anyone know?, please reply. Does anyone have any links to what files can be removed while conserving stability. For instance if I want to use advanced task manager, is it possible to remove the regular task manager files and links?

Missing file errors.

Whenever my phone wakes up from a sleep or I end a phone call, three error messages pop up saying that I'm missing three different files.
Yesterday, I installed some weather apps to try out, but I forgot to backup my regs. So when I uninstalled them, they must not have cleaned up too well and still try to run!
Three errors are:
Cannot execute \program files\Outerdepth\KPWeather\KPWeather.exe
Cannot execute \program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\weather.exe
Cannot execute \program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\monitor.exe
I searched the registry and found some registry entries in the Mort process key. Deleted those. Error still persists.
There is nothing in startup like these. No program files to look for because the folders aren't there.
I just want my phone to go back to normal. Preferably without hard reset.
Please help this fool. :'(
EDIT:
Forgot to say, I'm using a Samsung Omnia i910. Upgraded to compact.net framework 3.5, if that is relevant.
Perhaps this would be more appropriate in each packages
thread?

I just decided that it was better to hard reset the phone. The trouble and hours I spent on this weren't worth it, and I just wanted to get back to enjoying my phone.
Maybe these posts will get some sort of exposure and have the problem solved so the next person can find it.
I went the same route and hard reset the phone as well. Oh well!
try reinstalling them and then uninstalling them using SKTools
oh.. and then perform a cleanup using SKTools
still..
.. after using SKtools on a Polaris (uninstall, cleaning up, in normal and safe mode, you name it) I still get the same annoying message.
is there any solution to this?
thanx
alex.
That annoys me totaly. SKTools don't fix the problem. I only could fix it with a dummy exe file. But don't have tested it. It would be nice if the coder of

Never saw an app like that. No registry key, no startup files, but annoying error messages.
