How to flash Fuze for warranty purposes? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey, I just got my Fuze yesterday, and I'm loving it. I just have a question that I couldn't seem to find by the search.
How would I go about returning the Fuze to the stock SPL after flashing it to HardSPL? I'm asking just incase I need to return it. Would I just flash the default AT&T ROM to restore everything? Or does more have to be done? AKA Do the directions in the Hard-SPL thread apply to the Fuze?
Sorry if this is a dumb question--it's been a while since I've owned a WM phone. (Wizard to be exact =])

NVM Found the answer.
Here for those that want to know:
No need to have the SPL 1.95...I had to exchange my Fuze today because of a problem with buttons...
Just follow the steps on the front page and then afterwards reflash the stock att rom(the one with SPL 1.95)...it will flash SPL 1.95 with it
confirm by going into bootloader
Click to collapse

what front page? i want to reflash to oem to exchange for a new fuze

hard spl has overwrite protection. you will have to flash the unsigned spl to overwrite ti (just search for "stock spl"). However, my question is, if you flash the stock rom, do you have to go thru flashing the original spl as well or the hard spl will work with the stock rom as well?
thank you all!

Flashing advice.

Hey people.
I bought a TYTN2 off ebay and the previous owner already flashed Duttys rom 29th April onto it. he told me that he applied a HardSPL and flashed the rom.
My question is, I want to flash laurentius diamond V9 rom but I'm unsure if I need to start from the beginning, CID unlock and sim unlock and then apply HARDSPL again or can I just go straight to changing the SPL to version 3.56 and then install the new rom. Which path do you think I should take?
As i'm not entirely sure what the previous owner did to install the Dutt's Rom.
I have been reading the Wikis and FAQ's but i'm still unsure in my situation as i'm not sure what the phone has had done to it in the past.
Hold your camera button down and see if you even need to update to hardspl 3.56. If you do, then update your hardspl and then just flash whatever rom you need....note you may also need an updated radio. In any event, it will not hurt you by starting all the way over.

1. You should determine what SPL you have on your device FIRST
2. if you are doing a 6.1 ROM you will want a 3.xx HARDSPL installed -
3. the WIKI is your friend here - it will tell you how to determine what SPL you have and show you how to upgrade to what you need.
Once you have the CORRECT HARDSPL on your device and you understand the process you can continue - continuing before you understand and have the correct HRADSPL will guarantee that you need help for a bricked phone.
This is not hard - many have gone on before you ...
But you must read and understand.
Bill
Hey thanks for replying guys. Been reading through the SPL Wiki, but cant find how to determine your SPL.
ajmoncrief: Do I soft reset and hold down the camera button?
whk: Thanks for your advice. I have been reading the wikis for a while but I guess it will take a few more days of reading as I find it confusing with all the technical terms etc.
There is one bit which I would like clarification on if possible. in the thread 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396235' is states:
'The reasoning is that those HardSPLs are what allows you to flash a ROM not originally meant for your device (from your vendor/region).
Once you have flashed the HardSPL you can then flash your ROM.
Once your ROM is flashed, you can then flash the SPL which matches that ROM to ensure stability. However, if you want to flash a new ROM, you have to go back to the beginning and flash the HardSPL again to allow you to load another ROM!*
from what I read,
Im assuming that if the previous owner flashed HARDSPL ver 1.xx and then loaded duttys April 29th 6.1 rom. I would need to now reflash HardSPL ver 1.xx again and then jumpSPL to ver 3.56 and then flash the new rom?

Read this -
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
This will help you figure out what SPL you have installed -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1846653&postcount=800
and this:

I believe that once you have HARDSPL on your machine it is there permanently - until you flash another one over it - SO - You can go right from HARDSPL 1.0 to 3.xx and then flash your new ROM.
Bill
Thankyou very much for your advice.
I managed to update to HardSPL 3.56 and flash the new rom. All went smoothly (nerve racking) and everything booted up fine. Now i'm just exploring and tweaking the settings.
I couldn't have done it without your guidance and of course the help from wiki and FAQ's.
Cheers!

How I flashed my TYTN-II successfully without HARDSPL ?

Hi,
I purchased my TYTN-II from UK as sim free in Oct-07. From the last five months i was under the impression that HARDSPL is very much necessary for flashing. Though i never tried to HARDSPL my unit. Last month there was RUU upgrade from HTC e-club. Since it was from HTC and there was no special instruction before running RUU. So i run the RUU directly and my unit was successfully upgraded to WM 6.1.
After that i realised that 6.1 is not stable. So, with the help of the forum ... i downloaded the WM 6 shiped RUU from the forum and run directly and again my device accepted the WM6.
Now, i am confused that how this happened ? am i not suppose to HardSPL my device before flashing specially at downgrading level ?
OR since my device is SIM Free / Unlocked thats why it doesn't need HardSPL ?
I am just trying to educate myself nothing else ...
Regards
i believe that u still need to hard spl the right spl for that rom u installed...the spls are stickied in this forum
admins = plz shut this thread down...
I always thought it was normal for sim free phones.
I could just be thick. But I thought it was due to networks and simlocks that people had to HardSPL.
So its just for cooked ROMs. I get it now. So you flashed a HTC ROM on a HTC device. Which would have flashed the correct SPL anyway.
Hard SPL's allow you to flash cooked roms safely without bricking the device. Since you flashed an official rom from HTC you wouldn't require a modded SPL
There are different hard spl's for wm6.1 thats all. To be honest you are normally safer just to hardspl anyway. Back in the day, if you hadnt hard spl'd your phone and you bricked it, it was basically impossible to fix. Not sure these days on the kaiser, i have never tried not hard spl'ing mine so i couldnt say.
OEM SPL does NOT allow you to downgrade even if the ROM fits your device. I don't know why you not taking HardSPL, if you worry about the warranty, just go ahead to flash ROM with HardSPL, then flash OEM SPL back after it.
if you device is from HTC and not locked to a provider you can flash roms from HTC-E club BUT!!! your phone is not truly safe HardSPL is like a condom for your kaiser if something happens lets say the USB plug comes out while flashing NOT having HardSPL you might have an issue BUT you probably WILL... Just do yourself a favor and flash HardSPL you can always revert back to the shipped SPL if you need to for a warranty return......

ROM Upgrade + Warranty Question

Friends,
So far I have had no problems flasing hardspl and chef roms. I know this is a stupid question but I would imagine this would void the warranty of the device with my at&t provider?
I have my own personal insurance on the device (not with at&t). But what if I start experiencing problems with the device. Would there be a way to revert back to the custom rom and change the hardspl?
Please advise.
tvos
just find the att stock rom on this forum..not sure where it is as i havent looked through the roms as i dont own a fuze but have been active in the forum because i plan on getting one SOON..and for hardspl..dont know about ehre but like in the kaiser forum they have att stock spl and you revert back by using a SSPL (Software SPL) that is in EXE format and you open it in the file manager and it loads up the bootloader and then you flash the old SPL from there because you cant load a SPL from the normal bootloader because SPL IS YOUR BOOTLOADER so just look for those or wait for someone to post the needed files (you can find the att stock rom for sure) but in actuality alot of people have gotten away without reverting the SPL (i havent heard of anyone getting charged for voiding the warranty) but if you want to be safe you can always go down to a DSC (Device Spport Center) (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&solutionId=KB91429 for a list of DSC's) and once they swap it your home free and they have never checked the bootloader for me (well everytime ive broughten it in it was stuck in bootloader but they never examined the screen) so yah thats my 2 cents ;-)
ive exchanged multiple tilts with warranty exchange, and never had an issue with the hardspl. i would always flash the stock rom back on though

ATT Htc Fuze

I want to know what my phone should look, so that I can change it back in for a warrenty.
And is there a video out to show how to STOCK SPL - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY.
Can you please provide all the information that is needed so that I will not be charge or mess over my contract. Thanks.
If you have HARDSPL installed then your boot screen shows 1.90olinex if you are at STOCK SPL then it shows 1.90.
Before I returned my phone I flashed the HTC ATT ROM that includes radio, then I flashed it with STOCK SPL to return my bootloader from 1.90olinex to 1.90.
That is as much info as I can give you without doing searches of the forum. I think you can handle a few searches from here. Just look for Stock SPL and use the Wiki.

Warranty??

Hey,
I am going to send my phone back to the warranty service because i have a very poor Wifi reception and dust under the screen...
But i have a custom ROM installed..
Do i need to instal a original HTC ROM??
And how do i unistal Hard-SPL??
I think you have to go back to original ROM, perhaps you can find it in the Wiki here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Topaz
Or in Topaz section
I allready have a rom from the HTC.com website, official
But how do i unistall Hard-SPL??
If you read the link I posted above, there is a section on how to hardspl
Extracted: NOTE 2: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs. also, this has overwrite protection against HTC RUU's overwriting HSPL with a stock one, so if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, a stock SPL downgrade package is posted here below. use this relocker *only* if you need to return the phone for warranty, and only use it as last step - after reflashing stock OS and radio. see steps at the end of this post about how to reflash stock SPL.
