Transparent Task bar

Anyway to make the task bar transparent?

There's separate links for WM2003 and WM5, so be sure to download the right version for your OS

oldsap: I think you know VJToggleToday already.
If you truly want to make its background transparent, I think you'd have to subclass its paint routine and make it transparent yourself. I've not seen anyone do this yet, but it's feasible-ish.

Have you tried ThemeGenCE 1.6?? Meschle has been INVALUABLE in helping me out with this same issue using ThemeGen. You can download it here -- http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm
I'd be glad to help you out with it, if you want to PM me, and I'm sure there are others who will, as well. The image "looping" was driving me CRAZY until I found out how to correct it.

That's not making the bars transparent, it's making the theme background for the Start Bar and the New Bar skin the same as the wallpaper, using WisBar, so it looks like the wallpaper extends from top to bottom with no breaks.
For VJToggleToday, remember that you have to create a new theme .tsk with a larger wallpaper. The normal wallpaper is 320-26-26 pixels. You need to make a wallpaper that's 320 pixels so the wallpaper doesn't repeat.

That's what I was trying to help him do. While I realize that it's not going to make the bars transparent, by using your tool to remove the bars and by making the theme larger to fit the entire screen, it will give pretty much the same effect that he's wanting. At least, that's what I've done to get the same effect. Perhaps I should have explained myself better to begin with.

newbie2: I understood that from your post. My apologies, I was ambigious in my previous post - I was referring to oldsap's screenshots, that show Wisbar running. Wisbar has native support for skinning the New Bar and Start Bar (of course).
The VJToggleToday method is what I use, but I don't use a coloured background at all, since I find it optically distracting for my limited neural capacity.

@vijay: Thanks for pointing out that the screenshot i posted used WISBAR (which i dont like because of the BIG RAM usage)
EDIT - How come when i assign VJOKBUTT to a HW key it works while if i use it in CLaucnh it doesnt work?

Guys, what i realized is that i'd better make the TOP BAR hidden and keep the bottom bar present because even if i DO hide the bottombar, i still wont be able to use that space. I'll try to post my Today screen later (for you to critisize )

oldsap: how are you trying to use VJOkButt from claunch?
VJOkButt will emulate use of the Ok/Close button in the active app. Presumably if you're using it from claunch, your active app is the Today screen, in which case, it is generally programmed to task switch through all active apps on subsequent presses of the VJOkButt key, closing or minimising them per key press.

i used the ToggleStart app to remove the topbar, then i have cLaunch plugin on top with the VJOKBUTT shortcut icon in it. Then when i open the Messaging window and try to close it with the VJOKBUTT icon, it doesnt seem to work

Yes, as I thought. VJOkButt detects the currently active window - it's usually launched by a hardware key or shortcut while another app is active. However, the VJToggleToday hack is showing the Today screen at the top of the screen.
Thus, although it seems like you've got messaging etc open, your active window when you click on claunch is the Today screen. Does this only happen with Messaging? I can look into it and try to fix this if its a unique problem.
Lovely setup btw! Can you post a screenshot in use (eg in another app) - I've never seen anyone else use VJToggleToday like I do, with PhoneAlarm at the top.

How to make the top and bottom all transparent?

Hi guys, I have tried the MAXTTM to make the top and bottom all transparent, but unsuccessful. I clicked the top curtain and bottom curtain all transparent but nothing changed. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

use hdwall to make a load of cab files, and use either the hdwall wallpaper selector which you can download from the hdwall thread, or just install which cab file you want when you want.!

Hi very nice tutorial
but I've followed it
and followed it while setting "skin task and bottom bar" in advanced config
It creates the myWallpaper.cab for all tabs (but the lock screen)
But the Task and bottom are still Black? (or very dark)
I even tried fumbling with the "opacity" slider
but no real luck (not clear how o interpret them)
At best I get a very dark task bar on the home page
Sometime the landscape is best othertimes its the lock page
(I use my unshrunk original for it)
The tutorial and help has been great here
but I do get to create the cab, its just the transparent taskbars
I guess advanced options that I'd really love to see some babysitting in

thats not a solution, that is a bad patch.
I want to change like other people the bars from one color to transparent, and dont have to lose my time with 2054 cabs for any wallpaper.

try this cab mate, its pretty easy to use. install the cab, run it, then go to WM6.5 menu at the bottom, choose the option "both" under component then choose "wallpaper" under change method option, then press convert. and your done. when changing your wallpaper again you have to re-do the whole process again though.

looks like the guy who tried this was trying to change the wrong thing. changing the top/bottom curtain isnt changing the taskbars. also he might not of downloaded the right cab version with the WM6.5 option on the bottom.

Worked fine but messed my lockscreen up, and it seems like maxttm dont work at all when you have Max manila installed (besides removing the taskbars)
After 14 days of searching and trying different caps i still cant remove the bottom curtain.

No you don't haver to redo it everytime you change. You just tick "use standard deployment" and then you can change your wallpaper like you do normally through the settings tab.
Luckily I don't use max manilla!

You need to have BG4all enabled. After that it should work, unless you have Max Manilla interfering.

nice idea i may give it a go.
what would be cool is if you could turn it on ana off. maybe slide the slide bar down to vanish then up to re appear. its probabily not possible but would be good to have the option to make it clear and solid at a press of a button.

All you guys might have to do is either edit icons.mode9 manila file and set visible=false under the icons you don't want displayed (there are 3 references/icon - 1 big preview, 1 for off, and 1 for on). You need to just add the line visible=false under each qtc for _on and _off icons. You can do this easily with m9editor.
You could also do a dirtier way of just making the icons totally transparent. This could be easily accomplished by downloading a custom icon set for your manila version, creating a transparent png square the size of the icon, and using cfcgui to replace all of the small icons in the slider with the transparent png. The bigger icon is used for the preview on your screen.
I've attached a cab using the 'dirty' way of doing it. The slider has a line at the bottom as suggested by Prodildo. It should work with 2.5.1921, 2.5.1922, 2.5.2011 and maybe others (slider I took the files from was compatible with those). The only problem I noticed was the date is still displayed on the invisible calendar icon (the 1 in the screenshot). That can probably be fixed in a mode.9 file, but I am at work and do not have access to a manila file dump.
**edit - I added the fix for the date doesn't show now on the invisible icon (but does show on big icon while switching tabs)

Could you tell me what cab you use to get the clock/battery combo? I use Dutty's ROM and I would like to remove the clock from the right corner of the taskbar, and get the clock/battery combo. That looks nice.

It is great (especially since it is freeware!) but just a heads up, the battery and clock has a solid background color (not transparent). So if you have a fancy taskbar background with glossy effect or something, the battclock cannot blend in. Also, the lines that you see is part of the battclock cab. The colors can be modified to match your theme if you don't like the default R, Y, G colors.

The application/skins are mostly cab files; so download them and place them on your SD (Don't extracting it!) navigate with your device to the file on your SD, press on it.
A new window will pop up, and ask you the install installation. select intern memory!

can somebody share the anastasia quicklink cab ?

hello...great thread/post you made...but can you pleaae give me the cab/linl for the taskbar in ur screenshots...and also...i changes my facebook icon...and some others...but when o go to put them in my quicklinks...they go back to normal....any "easy" way to fix that...?

​So I decided to have a go at making all sliders Metro/WP7 style.
Maybe some people out there will appreciate this. I have also included my custom lock screen, which is just a modified version of the default Windows one.

All tabs have been modified as you can see from the screenshots.
Attached Files...
Metro Slider Icons - This is just for the main Sense tabs; Home, Email, Contacts etc etc.
Metro System Sliders - This is for all other sliders; Contacts, Clock, Footprints, Twitter, Media etc.
Lock Screen - The lock Screen. All files needed are in the cab. Please make sure you have any other lock screens removed before you install this. You need the default lock screen on for this to work.
Transparent Bottom Curtain - Makes Sense bottom curtain transparent (does not effect other system sliders).
Metro Blue Slider - Metro Blue Slider as requested (both sense slider and other system sliders).
Metro Slider Icons +Transparent Curtain - Same as default one but with a transparent bottom curtain.
Restore Stock LockScreen - Restores stock LockScreen
Slider Fix - Fixes verticle lines on some roms on the slider.
This works on my 1.72 Stock Rom, haven't tested it on any others. - Also works on Stock 3.14 Rom

Two small rquests could you also make the selector box around the slider icons blue. RGB 0,158,255 fits with the metro theme.
I have attached Grabs to show something similar, tho this theme is no where as complete as your. and I managed to edit the slider to my taste, but I don't think I could complete a full theme yet.

hi, I tested the sliders and I report you some bugs:
-in almost all tabs I have the graphic bug you see in attached pic
-lack of new icons such as documents and programs tab
The tab is nice, hope theese bugs could be fixed and maybe get the slider bar transparent

I have attached 2 more cabs, 1 for transparency and another one for metro blue slider.

Thats a strange graphical bug, maybe the transparent bar will fix it?
If you can provide manila files of these missing tabs I can make update it to include those. I will also try and find these files on XDA, as I don't have those tabs myself.

I attach a Programs Tab standalone cab I found (disable sense-install,-soft reset-enable sense), if you need for tests.

EDIT: transparent cab does not work for me (manila 2.5.20) , could someone else report about this?

Fixed the transparency Cab, re-download and re-install. My bad on not converting the file to QTC.
Working on other tab icons.

Install this addon to see if those icons change now to suit. If they do I will then re-cab the complete file again.

how can i make the lockscreen work on my fuze

how can i make the lockscreen work on my fuze
ive tried to edit the cpr file but it never saves it correctly

What are you trying to edit and in what way doesn't it save right?

Ok, now the transparent cab works, I can see the new document tab icon when I am on another tab, but when I switch to the document one is displayed the stock icon
you're on the way , just another adjustment and will be perfect

trying to just save it as 480x640
but it wont save ..saves it as 480x800 still

Attached updated cab.
Does the programs tab work ok?

Strange, it should work no problems, cant test it myself.
Open the CPR file in notepad and edit the first line of text to suit, then you MIGHT need to rename the file as well to LS_LockScene_480x640.cpr
Not enitely sure if that would work. Remember to reboot your device.
/apologises if that's what you already tried!

Can't say about programs tab cause I've not yet updated my ROM, so I have only documents tab at the moment, but if this work, it should also that one.

The slider looks great, nice work.
Now a question off topic: I'm using CHT 2.0 and like the metro look a lot.
I cant get the lockslider to look alike, can you help me?
