Hello there,
does anyone know if there is a possibility of inserting a stronger battery into the S710? The current one (factory, I guess, since I've never replaced it) is 1050 mAh. I could realy do with a longer battery life. But, can't we all!
Who knows if and what is possible when it comes to the battery?
There are extended batteries, just search eBay. They have like 200 and more mAh, but they come wit an extended back plate too, so it sticks out quite a bit...
It seems that I am having a problem with my battery. Its draining from a full charge to 80% within 15 minutes of use (If I dont use it stays at 98-99). Is it natural or has the time arrived for changing a battery. Moreover, I observe that there is nowhere written HTC Ltd on my battery. Its written 'Manufactured by Simple Technology Co Ltd, China". So is the battery original ? On average I loose my battery within 18-20 hours from 100% to 7-8% on 60 to 120 minutes of surfing and 30 to 60 minutes of average calling daily.
I have signal strength mostly 90 to 100%. Occassionally it drops to 70%

the only way I can help you is by saying that I have the same (if it says: Simplo) manufacturer, and that this is the battery that came with my phone. So unless the webshop I bought it at is cheating, you've got the right battery. I've had it for a little more than a year now, and I'm not familiar with your problem...!
Thanks dekraan. It is indeed Simplo (and not Simple). But then I am facing this problem. What is your average battery life ? I have to wait if somebody else can throw some light on this topic.
Using Fireburned clean ROM 1.1
Applications running in the background (excepting system files) : Featherweather2 files, mortscript, keylock.
the S710 battery does have an issue it seems.
Mine ran out of juice after 9 months of juice so I got it replaced by a new one.
Free since it was under warranty.

Well, you can probably guess I am not so happy with the batterylife of the S710, since thats why I started this topic . I think with moderate use (texting, some calling and sometimes a little surfing) and WM 6.1 standard, I have to reload it at least once in three days. I have noticed though that if I surf, my battery seems to lose about a percentage each minute!

Well thats where my problem starts. I am an avid surfer and my battery also drains on a similar rate when I surf. So my battery seems to be ok. A few more comments can clarify the things further.
I can't clarify -- I can only confirm the problem. I have to charge my S710 throughout the day. I've tried the complete drain/complete charge method with no discernible improvement. Using WiFi used to drain the battery very quickly, but now any time I try to use WiFi, the phone immediately turns off as though it's been instantly drained to 0.

Hello friends ,
It have been 2 weeks since i got my universal (o2 xda exec) , I have tried most of the WM6 roms here , but most of them dont give good battery life..
Anybody know which is the best ROM with Best battery life? or any tips how to improve the battery life?
I usually read books and rarely hear music and i have 4 apps installed and i find the battery drain fast within 3.5hours. For this reason i turned off the phone and wifi. My uni is a new one , i dont want to have the charger all the time with myself.. I go places , do please help me..
Thanks in advance
battery life is awfull and unpredictable
I have the same problem. I use the same crossbow 2.12.08 version
with update radio ( from 1.15 ) to 1.18
I have a larger battery 3200 mAh, but th ebattery life is never more than one day. Though the battery is brandnew...
Worse is that when charging sometimes it shows 100% but most of the time this drops within a few minutes ( 2-4 ) to 97%
Then after 1-2 hours it is on 60% while usage is minimal. no WLAN, no BT
Also sometimes for some reason the battery is very warm ( during loading ).
When disconnected it turns out the universal is almost empty. Tried to disconnect the battery and leave it outside for 5 minutes then back in. but nithing seems to really improve. Also without memory card the results are more or less the same. Also always I close the applications fully.
Maybe someone can tell me what are the possible reasons...? Is is the software. Does it not see the actual charge correctly? Or is there a "hidden"battery user. Read the article about leds and all that, but this is way out of that league.
Rgds
I think that your battery is no good. My battery is 2 years old, it's the original battery 1650mAh and the battery life is 2.5 hours with WiFi enabled (internet navigation via WiFi)
If you want your battery to last longer, check the wiki:

Before blaming ROMs check the device with another battery. I had the same problem too, checked several ROMs and even downgraded to WM5 and at the end it appeared that my battery simply dies, while my other battery showed far better lifetime.
You are definitely having a battery issue rather than ROM. I am using 2.1.2.08 also and can get 3 days of normal mixed use from my original 1620mah battery.
Why not try "resetting" the battery, as discussed in previous forums, I for one can testify to it's success.
Hello all,
I was wondering if there are any other S710 users who have been experiencing battery issues with the HTC Vox.
For a while I was running Dr. Gonzo's Guava Rom and everything was great with it all except for the battery life. I didn't pay much attention to it, but it finally got on my nerves. It came to the point where I could only use the phone for around 14-16 hours under moderate use and wifi+bt OFF after a full charge.
Today, I flashed the VOX with fireburned CLEAN v1.2. and it seems to be the same. I don't recall having this issue with the Official ROM.
Battery issue? any ideas? I dont want to spend money on an extended battery if it is a software issue.
Much appreciated!
It seems same to me too. I flashed not less than 20 ROMs in my VOX's use of nine months and I found that my battery slowly got weakened and was going only for 14 15 hours without too much use. Practically I had to buy a fresh battery from www.megacapacity.com. It arrived yesterday and serving me about 1.5 days for normal use. It is 1100mah in place of 1050mah original but is of std size.
Opinion of other users invited.
Did not notice anything as such. My Vox is nearly 1 Year 4 months old. So I am not expecting much from it.
Because during my initial flashing, I never had any noticeable battery performance issues. I have flashed almost all ROMs of Dr. G's, a couple of fh's and 3 of fireburned's ROM, about to flash with the 4th
I've had my phone for approximately the same amount of time and I've only flashed it probably 4-5 times in total.
Perhaps I shall look into getting a new battery as well...I want to be able to use Wifi normally without losing the phone halfway through the day.

I think you may have a hardware issue (not sure though). When I am not travelling, my phones battery at the end of the day shows more or less 60% charge left. I use flexmail to check my mails every hour. If there is any mail worth reading, then I use i.e. to check mails. So I think you can consider it moderate GPRS usage, plus there are of course voice calls . Though I do not use wifi or BT.
If you plan to buy a new battery though, I think it will be better if you go for an extended battery.
I read in another topic that it's somehow related to the Radio version.

Parthabhatta, what were shipping charges to india? how much is the total cost? How much time does it take in delivery?
i am looking to buy a new one same 1100mAh.
Because im new with Vox in generally can someone tell me what should be aproximated battery life with vox? (NO wifi, NO bt, 1-2h/day using normal phone calling)
What could be normal battery life with TCPMP and movie divx 320x240 256kbit ?
Everyone seems to have great battery life, so I wouldn't be the person to tell you what the average battery life is.
I just tested out the battery life this morning. 100% charged and i turned on Wifi to use. 45 minutes later, my phone dies.
So I get less than an hour of power on Wifi. I don't think that seems like a battery problem. Using it normally, gives me at least 14-15 hours+ (no wifi/no bt).
Perhaps its a hardware bug? Software bug? Any input is appreciated.

Hi gwmnx!
The same problem i have to, my battery life is very poor , maxim 10- 12 hours(no wifi/no bt), without browsing internet or other else and battery dies.
I buy a new battery, and exact same problem with it, in maximum 14 hours is finished
I was in a service , and they verify my batterys, and they told me the batterys is very good both.
And probably the phone have a hardware issue , but they don't know to repare it because they don't have a electronic schematic of my phone
I tested 3 ROM's by now, but nothing is change, with every ROM, same problem.
I don't know what to do and what to say, i'm very disappointed
Excuse me for bad English , i don't speak very well!
Same issue i am facing here. My phone battery dies in 10-12 hours. Don't know if it happens due to lot of ROM upgrades everyday or using overclocking...
I am going to purchase a new battery soon. If that also works same, i will revert to original VOX 6.0 ROM. No overlcoking, no R&D, no research no development further because you need to compromise with hardware malfuntioning, damages etc against this kind of R&D.

I bought my battery for 15.5$. Shipping is free worldwide on all items. It reached me in 16 days. It is now giving me 1.5 to 2 days on fireburned 1.2 ROM.
For a change, you just change the homescreen from sliding to anything like windows default. And make normal usage. I'm dead sure you'll get better results even if you're in Rose ROM. I mean, you'll get better battery performance if you're not in sliding homescreen.
I'm using Fireburned's 1.2 version ROM.
Thanks

How does the sliding panel attribute to 45 minutes of wifi usage. I'm not even on the homescreen, just using the web browser?
I mean, I think it might be a definite reason since I only started noticing poor battery life after 6.1. With the original Vox WM6.0, I definitely had better battery life.
there are some roms that kills the battery life to around half or more. like gonzo's latest rose rom.

Yeah from megacapacity. Extended batteries are also available for around 21$
Sorry skchattha! its for 18.5$and not 15.5$ (actually 15.5$ was for my nokia battery). I confused. Just go to the site and it will be clear. Actually I was charged Rs.948.00 in IndiaN Rupee.

Great man! Rs.948 is still cheaper, HTC service centre rates are Rs1390.
What do you mean by Extended battery? Any difference from normal battery?
And what about 2250mAh battery, does it fit fine or looks odd?
2250 mAh is the extended battery. I didnot buy although it was comparatively cheaper because to me it will not only look odd but make the phone bulky and heavier too. But now i feel that 2250 would have been a better choice as i am an avid gprs user. Now think and buy- difference of only 2.5/3 USD.

Well, being in browser doesn't mean your homescreen is off. Sliding panel itself consumes lots of battery. Just change your homescreen from settings to something else not related to sliding panel or Rose Homescreen. For a change just change it back to windows default. let it be changed for a day (You won't loose anything). I strongly believe there would be some difference in battery consumption and consumption will be lesser.
Thanks
Extended Battery really looks too odd. it looks like you've added another battery
Hi guys, I've got an LG Optimus One, and it seems like it's not having a good battery life, at least I believe, since this is the first smartphone I have.
So, I turned it on this morning at about 7:30am, got back home at 2:40pm and the battery is at 39%. If I get on the Battery Use screen, it says 42% Android System; 29% Display; 24% Cell Standby; 8% Phone Idle. That's all it says.
What did I do with the phone this morning: Checked out 1 web page like... 5 times during the morning, played Angry Birds for less than 10 minutes, took 4 photos and a 3 minutes video, checked twice the Bus time arrival... Played for 20 seconds a song at the max volume... And of course I looked at the time about 10 times. In total it is something like 30-40 minutes of usage out of 7 hours.
Is it really supposed to lose that much battery? What if I want to really use it? Will the battery drop in like 2 hours?
By the way, the LG Optimus One has got a 1500mAh battery, which to me seems to be quite good...
Try to condition the Battery, let the Battery drain completely, and then charge it up while its off. this way the life of the battery will improve, do it once a while

I've already done it, just yesterday
Battery drain is affected by several factors:
- If you installed a cooked ROM you may want to try another
- If you are in a low signal zone that also drains a lot
- If you have a cooked ROM try also changing radio version
- Buy a spare one

Thanks for answering. I'm not using a custom ROM, and I've got 4 out of 5 lines of signal
I guess i'll buy an other battery, maybe the one from Mugen Power, with 300 more mAh, which is nice Thanks anyway
I switched from an old WinMo 6.5 (Verizon Imagio) to G2x. Absolutely love it, except the battery life (there is backlight bleed too, but not too annoying).
But when I read thread here, seems my battery life is kind of okay?
1) Went to sleep at 1:20am. Phone had Gmail sync, Exchange sync every 15 minutes, News & Weather widget, and ScoreMobile widget. Checked battery at 5:40am, it was down 11%. So roughly 10% battery every 4 hours. This means 40 hours battery life if I leave the phone idle.
2) Today I wanted to drain the battery then give it a full charge. So I factory reset device twice (each time it automatically downloaded all 28 apps I installed before). A 1 minute phone call. About 1 hour web browsing. 10 minute Goolge Maps Navigation. Tweeked settings of my favorate text reader and read a novel for about 2 hours. Then watched YouTube for 30 minutes. Other time, phone was left in my pocket. Battery lasted about 11 hours.
So, is it normal battery life for G2x? With CM7, is it possible I can extend the battery life to 16 hours in scenario 2?
I think it is NOT normal battery life because when reading the novel (screen brightness at 20%), I can see 1% battery drop every 3 minutes!!! The text reader just displays static text until I flip page. My reading speed is about 2 pages/minute.
Compared to my WM 6.5 device, I barely notice any battery drain when using the same text reader app (WM version of course), same book and same reading speed.
Well people have found that the only issue with android really is the damn battery! some live through it, some buy extended batteries (like myself) and others just don't feel it since they are used to charging regularly. When compared to winmo 6.5 android is just doing so much more in the background comparitively even though winmo 6's multitasking is pretty neat. I guess other thigns to consider would be your screen resolution and that damn 14.whatever hsdpa chip you got in there!
Btw if you are using a app killer, i suggest try taking it off and see if you feel any diffrence.. i did.. i just found out the rogue app and said good bye to task killers and my battery was a little bit more promising then since it was on an aggressive kill certain app more earlier.
One thing though if you were to put the phone on a stanby time you will notice that it could really last but when doing something you can as you said practically seen it burn fuel, I guess the advancements in tech/screens/etc are just way beyond todays batteries!
I found my stock 2.1 doing much much MUCH better than CM7 or 6 even though people say Cyanogen was doing much better on some phones in terms of battery.
Can somebody post the battery life of their Vibrator compared to this phone?
I'm so mad, U mad?
I had mine off charger for maybe a total of 15mins cause I was deleting stuffoff the sdcard and battery was full it dropped 3% within 15mins
I had my myt4g with miui rom idle with wifi on for awhile yesterday and it didn't drop a % until I used it but even then it still hardly was draining. This LG drains way to fast!!
The battery life WILL improve over the first few charges. My Nexus S was TERRIBLE when I got it. 8-10 hours max. After 2 weeks or so, I was getting 25-30 hours of moderate usage.
The G2x I got ~ 14 hours of usage right out of the gate. I'm on full charge cycle 3 or 4 now, and I'm already over 19 hours. Hoping I can end up at around 25 hours or so.
The batteries AND the OS need time to 'learn' each other. The batteries need to break in as well with a full COMPLETE charge cycles. IE charge too 100% and use it until it dies, then charge fully. It also helps to leave it on the charger for about 8 hours PAST it hitting 100% the first time for some reason.
Hi, I installed the viperS 530 ROM on my Sensation 4G almost 2 months ago, and I basically like the ROM. Battery life was never great on this phone, but now seems twice as bad. From a full 100% charge, 1 short less than 5 minute call will make it go down to 90 to 95%. If I connect to T-Mobile data and use the browser, I actually see the battery level drop 2-3% every *minute*! I tried watching a Youtube video, from 100%, dropped down to 3% within less than 2 minutes, and shut itself off! I rebooted, and it then said 27%. I pit it on charge and it took more than 12 hours to get back to 100%. I have the original battery that came with it, and a different brand battery that I ordered, both around 1500 mah. But they are about 3.5 years old, and when I'm home the phone is almost always on charge. I have GPS, location, sync, bluetooth and data normally turned off when I'm out somewhere, unless I need the data or wifi to connect. Seems to drain just as fast whether wifi or data. I keep my phone at 30 or 45 seconds for the display. If nou used at all, will seem to stay at or near 100% for a few hours, then start dropping.
Is it worth me ordering a new battery, or is there something in the settings I'm overlooking? Like I said, seemed to get worse with the new ROM. Thanks much.
i think your battery is dying since it is 3.5 years old
Thanks rzr86, gonna look fora new battery on ebay or Amazon, prolly one of the higher mah ones. Strange that both my present batteries are at the same level of weakness, for example on each, when online, battery level drops 2-3% per minute, you would one would be somewhat better or worse than the other.
In the meantime I just installed Wakelock Detector and Greenify that I was reading about at another site, so hopefully those will help somewhat.
its battery issue

I'll go ahead and chime in on this as well.
I picked up this Sensation as my friends wife got a new Sammy after the Sensation suffered horrible battery life, just as you described. She even got a new factory authorized battery, and still the exact same issue after a month or so. Needing a decent backup phone, I took it off her hands. S-off, new viper ROM.
Never had this model before, but I knew battery wasn't the greatest to begin with.
So after messing with it for a few days, I realized the battery was crapped out. Same as you wrote, loss of percentage just looking at it!:laugh: Reboot, different percentages every time. At the most, maybe one hour usage. Did the usual, flush battery stats, full charging, wipe stats again, etc. No help.
Finally bought a new battery couple days ago. Did a halfway charge, and the difference was seen immediately. Still discharged rather fast, but at least the percentage readout was consistent. Better but not acceptable.
So today, I tried "bump charging" about 4 times. First full charging resulted in about 5hrs (and a couple minutes) straight mp4 video via MX Player till battery shutdown. Now fully charged and bump charged and testing the second go around, only this time with normal usage and you tube playback.
Question (as being unfamiliar with this device). Is 5 hours Mp4 playback about normal for this device?
One thing I notice immediately, is that Youtube requires more battery power than standard video via MX Player. 8% in 15 minutes playback. This equates to roughly half available playback time compared to normal video. I suppose this can be attributed to the usage of constant wifi streaming using more CPU and GPU. Just a guess anyhow.
Will hope a couple more "full charges" will extend the usage some.
BTW, Running Sultan's CM11 with Sultan kernel at mostly default settings. Testing done with mostly only default apps running in memory.
