ROM with best battery life???? Help me plzzzzz - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hello friends ,
It have been 2 weeks since i got my universal (o2 xda exec) , I have tried most of the WM6 roms here , but most of them dont give good battery life..
Anybody know which is the best ROM with Best battery life? or any tips how to improve the battery life?
I usually read books and rarely hear music and i have 4 apps installed and i find the battery drain fast within 3.5hours. For this reason i turned off the phone and wifi. My uni is a new one , i dont want to have the charger all the time with myself.. I go places , do please help me..
Thanks in advance

battery life is awfull and unpredictable
I have the same problem. I use the same crossbow 2.12.08 version
with update radio ( from 1.15 ) to 1.18
I have a larger battery 3200 mAh, but th ebattery life is never more than one day. Though the battery is brandnew...
Worse is that when charging sometimes it shows 100% but most of the time this drops within a few minutes ( 2-4 ) to 97%
Then after 1-2 hours it is on 60% while usage is minimal. no WLAN, no BT
Also sometimes for some reason the battery is very warm ( during loading ).
When disconnected it turns out the universal is almost empty. Tried to disconnect the battery and leave it outside for 5 minutes then back in. but nithing seems to really improve. Also without memory card the results are more or less the same. Also always I close the applications fully.
Maybe someone can tell me what are the possible reasons...? Is is the software. Does it not see the actual charge correctly? Or is there a "hidden"battery user. Read the article about leds and all that, but this is way out of that league.
Rgds

I think that your battery is no good. My battery is 2 years old, it's the original battery 1650mAh and the battery life is 2.5 hours with WiFi enabled (internet navigation via WiFi)

If you want your battery to last longer, check the wiki:

Before blaming ROMs check the device with another battery. I had the same problem too, checked several ROMs and even downgraded to WM5 and at the end it appeared that my battery simply dies, while my other battery showed far better lifetime.

You are definitely having a battery issue rather than ROM. I am using 2.1.2.08 also and can get 3 days of normal mixed use from my original 1620mah battery.
Why not try "resetting" the battery, as discussed in previous forums, I for one can testify to it's success.

WM6 KILLS the Battery... Help!!

I recently upgraded to WM6 ROM, "Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.02.02 WWE", and all went well.
But then at 40% battery my phone died... and this is very similar to a problem I used to had in WM5.
Can anyone tell me which WM6 ROM doesnt cause the battery problem?
For the record, I don't think either my phone or PDA is damaged. The last time I had this problem, I went back to the service center (several times I might add), and they replaced everything eventually (both PDA and Battery). Since then it has worked fine (for about 6mths+), until I flashed to the WM6 ROM.
**** man, I hope this has not damaged my device. Out of warranty already.
I had a similar problem and also initially didn't beleive it could be the battery, but guess what -- getting a new battery solved almost all problems I had including the phone dying at 40% or above. So it might be worth a try...
IT"S YOUR BATTERY
Just trust me
the battery 'dies' after like 6 to 12 months. It just goes bad in a week.
Mine went out on like 20%, then a week later on 54%
replacing it fixes it.
mine crashes over 20%.... the battery it's new
I had same problem with battery, then I buy new battery from ebay, and then the battery status was OK it goes from 100- 4% with warning and everything. But the problem was that battery last only a couple of hours, even aftzer a few days nothing change I must have charger with me all the time.
Then I search the forum and found someons solution, that works for me too.
Just charge the battery full take the cable out and put it in again a couple of times so the battery is realy full charged, the put the device in bootloader mode by pressing Power + Light + Reset, which brings up an un-backlit screen with "Serial" at the top, and "v0.XX" at the bottom. And then just put your device somewhere and dont touch it until it died that coul be the all day. Anyway next day I put the charger in and again didnt touc for all day. And my problems are gone, the battery since then last fortwo or three days if I dont use it much.
Hope that will help somebody
Dears,
i used to read about this issue in the forum again and again.....so i desided to wrote this post....everyone was claming the battery is the reason....OK do not belive this.....it is the rom.....i used the wm6 for sometime and i was facing the same problem....and when my carrier started the 3G i had to switch back to wm5.....and now my device never turns off before i get notified that my battery level is too low it about 10% of the battery....so if you do not belive me just do this test....switch back to wm5...i am using now Hilme 3.5 v1.3.1
regards
Mine dies at 35% with wm6 and wm5 and my old battery, but never dies with my new battery.
Use Radio 1.15
My battery life increased by 200% just by upgrading to this radio ROM.
same here
i m also sufrer of same problem. now after this forum i m confused
Here is the simple fact of the matter:
Batteries are EXTREMELY complicated pieces of equipment
They often give false readings because the chemical reaction that creates the electricity is easily affected by heat\age\use\etc. Also, the electronics that measure the temperature are based on the false assumption that the battery drains in a predictable way down to the same level.
Your battery draining quicker\slower and dying when it says it has charge may be because of the ROM. However, this is HIGHLY unlikely. What is most likely the cause is external factors (eg heat, number of programs running, etc) or that the battery has "died" or become unreliable.
Recommendation: Try different batteries, and remember that batteries have a chemical reaction, before posting here
I don't know... I started having problems as well just after a ROM upgrade... but it was an official ROM upgrade. I start thinking this has something to do with the upgrade process, like some setting being "wiped out" during the upgrade and the battery going "out of sync" with the device, reporting the wrong battery level...
But, more likely, this is just a psycological effect, you install the new rom and then start playing a lot with the device to find the improvements, and you begin noticing the problem for the first time!
My relatively new I-mate JasJar also started dying when the battery level reached 40% the day i flashed WM6.
i posted here, trying to explain that it was perfectly alright 2 days back, prior to WM6.. pointless to say, everyone still said it was the battery 100%
well.. i got a new battery.. and it did indeed solve the problem.
but guess what.
i flashed WM5 back, and both batteries work fine there.
not sure what the heck is going on here.. but i'm certain there are two fixes:
- flash WM5 back on.
- get a new battery and stay with WM6

I used to think like you, but now I beg to differ, my dead battery never usable under any OS.
It used to be always dead at some % starting from as low as 0 (good ones) and increase until now it is permanent dead at 100%. I have all your intermediate voltages before reaching 100%.
If your's still usable than your battery is not complete dead yet or half dead or maybe soon to be dead.
By the way, I am using helmi_c aku3.5 v1.3 (add on version) as compared to v1.3.1 (vanilla version).
One last thing, please do use big bold characters in forum, sounds like shouting. Thanks!
You cannot judge the battery is old or new by just months.
This older version of Universal battery, it counts by number of time charged I think, inserting in USB for a sync and remove would probably counted as 1 charge.
I now do not sync using those working condition battery, I change to my dead battery for sync purpose.
As I sync only contacts, now Dotfred has a tool and now I hardly use sync anymore.
By the way, there is one guy in this same forum start another thread without reading this (closest info) or all other previous threads.
People like this deserved to be flamed, but I didnt.
IMHO WM6 uses and drains the battery different then WM5
My experience is that everyone that has problems with their device dying just switched to WM6. It has nothing to do with the WM6 itself, it's just that WM6 is more 'sensitive' to a low battery output then WM5. So if you switch back to WM5 it looks like it might 'solve' your problem but in the end the battery will die, it'll just take a little bit longer before WM5 appears to have problems.
You'll postpone the problem for a little while but it's not a fix
Just my 2 cents

Mine still working very good at WM5 as i told you.....just let the battery get off and recharge it till full....now mine is working great and keep working until 10% or less
The point is that WM6 treets the battery and power in different way then WM5. First when you upgrade to wm6 and start it first time it assumes that battery is full (the instruction says that you should charge your battery before uploding new ROM). If the battery was not fully charged then you have a problem. WM6 registers the point of current while starting first time and assumes that this level represents the fully charged batteryl. Then it is programmed for consumption of power according to processor cycles, so after such and such time of use of your device it should reach certain level of power. If your battery was not charged full at the start then it will always show false percantage.
The solution is to fully charge the battery (possibly using the way described in some post above) and then reload the ROM once more.
Of cource when you buy a new battery, WM6 registers this (each battery has unic number) and creats new pattern for this battery. That is way it is so importatnt to properly charge the new battery when you load it first time.
Hope this is helpful.

I have 3 original batteries.
In principle, good battery can goes to perfect 0%.
First battery started half dead (that is phone is dead 30%) after upgrade from WM5 AKU1 to WM5 AKU2 happen to be around 6 months after I start using the phone, I thought it was the problem with WM5 AKU2 ROM. My usage pattern of this battery is that I charge anytime I wish with Power charger and also during sync. This battery is still with me now after 1 year I have encounter the problem. The dead % grow (no change of ROM) until now it is around 100%, that is phone is dead just before it goes to 99%.
Second battery was bought the same time my first battery has problem, 1 year passed. Usage pattern are, never use this battery for sync or short connections to PC USB, never charge my battery until it is 0% (always possible) or less than 5%, never upgrade ROM using this battery. Always charge to LED turns GREEN & always sync & upgrade ROM with the dead stuck at 100% battery. 1 year has gone, the second is still able to reach 0% till now with battery last average 1 to 3 days, normally 2 days & sometimes 4 days depends on usage pattern.
Third battery, claim by vendor that some electronics is modified compared to the those bought last year. Charged this battery, use a few time to check if it is an ok battery, need to do this as I have ever bought brand new dead battery last year. After confirmed it is a good battery, I continue using the second battery and third battery always carry along as backup in case I used up the second battery.
Hope my usage pattern can help some of you to have optimal use of the battery and do not let the manufacturer earn extra money due to the problem in the old version of the battery. Anyway, this original battery will be discontinued soon due to end of life of this product. Guess I will have to look forward of getting imitations when my second & third battery is gone or maybe when my phone is gone too.

Hi,
Things that improve battery life:
- Drain the battery COMPLETELY until the phones shuts off and recharge the battery with the phone turned off. Do this 3 times. Improves battery life extremely.
- Disable repplog.exe in the notification queue with the comment "system time changed" using memmaid or similar tool (don't do this when you sync with an Exchange server OTA)
- Use advance config and enable all the options under "energy"
These are the 3 things I found in the forum that really work for me

BeeJive IM is a seriously intensive IM product that drains my battery very very quickly. I would suggest using Palringo. www.palringo.com It's not as pretty as BeeJive but your battery life with signifigantly improve.
I would also try using different radio's. Radios can help you improve battery life / signal strenth, etc. Test out all of the Raphael radios and available and see which ones works best for you.

I have tested the theory with draining the battery 3 times to it's complete and utter demise before charging. I found that doing it once worked best for me. Since Lithium Ion batteries do not have memory such as Nickel Metal Hydrate. I have found however that if my battery is acting funny to fully let it die then charge it up completely that it will return to it's normal self.
I have done a lot reseach on Lithium Ion batteries and found it's best to keep your device charged as much as it can and not let me battery get below 30% or 20% at the most before re-charging it. When I do this I get the best battery life as possible and my battery seems to last a lot longer in regards to the longevity of the battery as a whole.

Battery Life..+ Micro SD slot dead? [yeap again]

Hello all i have seen those threads about battery life but i beleive i have the worst..!
My battery last from fully charged condition in about 10 minutes of reading rss news!
It is rubbish it is also this shi* after flash. . .
anyone has a nice solution? or knows why is this happening?
i am a bit afraid of bying a new battery, because this may continue.
I dont know why vox is draining so much.
Second problem is that i cant get any micro sd wo work on it...!
It is really awfull cause vox has very little flash memory...
Please Give as many advices as you can i would be really gratefull!
Friendly Akuma.
Edit: sometime it hard shut down and then gives me false baterry indicate...
I was experimenting with battery life since mine was quickly falling down from 100 to around 75-80% within 15-30 minutes without much using the phone. My observations are as under:
1) Radio 4.1.13.47 seems to be the best in terms of battery use and call quality.
2) while charging I noticed the progress bar under "Power management" menu in settings. What I found is it suddenly shot to 100% (full) from around 80-85 clearly indiacting false charge.
3) To combat this I used my vox for sometime and it quickly dropped below 80% and then I again put it to charge. This time it charged normally for say upto 90-95% and again jumped to 100%
4) I again used it to drop the charge below90% and recharged.
5) This was continued till actually the battery was charged to 100% in normal spped. The experiment took some time.
6) Now I observe that the battery is much much stable and doesn't drain quickly and behaves like a normal battery should do.
7) Regarding battery showing inflated level after hard shut down, I think this is a problem with vox (or windows mobile?) and I also suffer from this.
Anyway you can try my method for battery charging and report any improvement if you find.
many thanks i will do some testing and try this re-charging method and i'll post my results!
One more thing I observed - Operamini 4.1/4.2beta consumes huge power - almost 1% gone every 2-3 minutes. Better if ucweb is used. I have just downloaded ucweb 6.1 for smartphones (English ver) and testing. Hope Ucweb will help to conserve battery better.
If you wish to test, link below.
http://forum.ucweb.com/viewthread.php?tid=226&extra=page=1
and some other things are that if you have windiows update automatic it runs as a process and using your ram.
i found out that rss is too
anyway you can check out your processes and some disable automatic update for them to stop running.
i hard reset and it got better i will do some further testing with you battery trick.
Don't try Ucweb for smartphone. The device is freezing.

Battery Life Diminishes with Cooked ROMs

Hello all,
I was wondering if there are any other S710 users who have been experiencing battery issues with the HTC Vox.
For a while I was running Dr. Gonzo's Guava Rom and everything was great with it all except for the battery life. I didn't pay much attention to it, but it finally got on my nerves. It came to the point where I could only use the phone for around 14-16 hours under moderate use and wifi+bt OFF after a full charge.
Today, I flashed the VOX with fireburned CLEAN v1.2. and it seems to be the same. I don't recall having this issue with the Official ROM.
Battery issue? any ideas? I dont want to spend money on an extended battery if it is a software issue.
Much appreciated!
It seems same to me too. I flashed not less than 20 ROMs in my VOX's use of nine months and I found that my battery slowly got weakened and was going only for 14 15 hours without too much use. Practically I had to buy a fresh battery from www.megacapacity.com. It arrived yesterday and serving me about 1.5 days for normal use. It is 1100mah in place of 1050mah original but is of std size.
Opinion of other users invited.
Did not notice anything as such. My Vox is nearly 1 Year 4 months old. So I am not expecting much from it.
Because during my initial flashing, I never had any noticeable battery performance issues. I have flashed almost all ROMs of Dr. G's, a couple of fh's and 3 of fireburned's ROM, about to flash with the 4th
I've had my phone for approximately the same amount of time and I've only flashed it probably 4-5 times in total.
Perhaps I shall look into getting a new battery as well...I want to be able to use Wifi normally without losing the phone halfway through the day.

I think you may have a hardware issue (not sure though). When I am not travelling, my phones battery at the end of the day shows more or less 60% charge left. I use flexmail to check my mails every hour. If there is any mail worth reading, then I use i.e. to check mails. So I think you can consider it moderate GPRS usage, plus there are of course voice calls . Though I do not use wifi or BT.
If you plan to buy a new battery though, I think it will be better if you go for an extended battery.
I read in another topic that it's somehow related to the Radio version.

Parthabhatta, what were shipping charges to india? how much is the total cost? How much time does it take in delivery?
i am looking to buy a new one same 1100mAh.
Because im new with Vox in generally can someone tell me what should be aproximated battery life with vox? (NO wifi, NO bt, 1-2h/day using normal phone calling)
What could be normal battery life with TCPMP and movie divx 320x240 256kbit ?
Everyone seems to have great battery life, so I wouldn't be the person to tell you what the average battery life is.
I just tested out the battery life this morning. 100% charged and i turned on Wifi to use. 45 minutes later, my phone dies.
So I get less than an hour of power on Wifi. I don't think that seems like a battery problem. Using it normally, gives me at least 14-15 hours+ (no wifi/no bt).
Perhaps its a hardware bug? Software bug? Any input is appreciated.

Hi gwmnx!
The same problem i have to, my battery life is very poor , maxim 10- 12 hours(no wifi/no bt), without browsing internet or other else and battery dies.
I buy a new battery, and exact same problem with it, in maximum 14 hours is finished
I was in a service , and they verify my batterys, and they told me the batterys is very good both.
And probably the phone have a hardware issue , but they don't know to repare it because they don't have a electronic schematic of my phone
I tested 3 ROM's by now, but nothing is change, with every ROM, same problem.
I don't know what to do and what to say, i'm very disappointed
Excuse me for bad English , i don't speak very well!
Same issue i am facing here. My phone battery dies in 10-12 hours. Don't know if it happens due to lot of ROM upgrades everyday or using overclocking...
I am going to purchase a new battery soon. If that also works same, i will revert to original VOX 6.0 ROM. No overlcoking, no R&D, no research no development further because you need to compromise with hardware malfuntioning, damages etc against this kind of R&D.

I bought my battery for 15.5$. Shipping is free worldwide on all items. It reached me in 16 days. It is now giving me 1.5 to 2 days on fireburned 1.2 ROM.
For a change, you just change the homescreen from sliding to anything like windows default. And make normal usage. I'm dead sure you'll get better results even if you're in Rose ROM. I mean, you'll get better battery performance if you're not in sliding homescreen.
I'm using Fireburned's 1.2 version ROM.
Thanks

How does the sliding panel attribute to 45 minutes of wifi usage. I'm not even on the homescreen, just using the web browser?
I mean, I think it might be a definite reason since I only started noticing poor battery life after 6.1. With the original Vox WM6.0, I definitely had better battery life.
there are some roms that kills the battery life to around half or more. like gonzo's latest rose rom.

Great man! Rs.948 is still cheaper, HTC service centre rates are Rs1390.
What do you mean by Extended battery? Any difference from normal battery?
And what about 2250mAh battery, does it fit fine or looks odd?
2250 mAh is the extended battery. I didnot buy although it was comparatively cheaper because to me it will not only look odd but make the phone bulky and heavier too. But now i feel that 2250 would have been a better choice as i am an avid gprs user. Now think and buy- difference of only 2.5/3 USD.

Well, being in browser doesn't mean your homescreen is off. Sliding panel itself consumes lots of battery. Just change your homescreen from settings to something else not related to sliding panel or Rose Homescreen. For a change just change it back to windows default. let it be changed for a day (You won't loose anything). I strongly believe there would be some difference in battery consumption and consumption will be lesser.
Thanks
Extended Battery really looks too odd. it looks like you've added another battery

Abnormal battery drain

Hi,
i have an abnormal battery drain on my mda vario iv. The battery with light use up to 30min internet, 3-4 texts, 5min phone call drains in 5-6 hours. The e mail is set to manual, weather too, wi-fi is off more than 75% of the time, backlight to auto, energy saving to turn off screen and phone... I have the Energy ROM Photon 2, and 1.14.25.35 with matching rilphone. Tried a fer battery cabs, and some GPS cabs, because I have an enormous lag, that seemed to drain the battery even further.
Please help
I changed the radio to 1.14.25.05 with matching rilphone. The problem seems to be with gps, i used the gps for 15min, left it at 80% it went to sleep for 2 hours, and after I woke it up it was on 33%?!!
Help please

Hy Hy,
got the same problem... but don't know why...
I made a radio update to 1.11.25.01 since it is gone.
May be it is a problem with the newer versions?
thanx for the reply
could be, i will try,and report back. Definetely Energy ROM is very power consuming, the best reviews battery-wise are for Timolols roms, but the links are broken, and can not be downloaded. Energy rom is nice and smooth, but the ram consumption on idile is 55%,and that takes a lot of power. I tried a lot of tips from various sites, but nothing seems to work. Is there a program that can measure power consumption in certain moments?
seems like it's your radio as mentioned before. some energy roms have been great on battery life (i've gotten up to 36 hrs!) and some die after 8. maybe try a different version of the energy rom too?
My Ram consumption on idile is 43-48% and i use my Touch Pro to hear Mp3's the hole day at work ... and got a Battery livetime of about 9 to 11 Hours ...
But if i use my Navigation system it dies in about 2-3 hours... is it normal for GPS?
yes it is normal for gps use. 3h is actually a good result
I have had my Fuze for a few days now, also flashed to an Energy ROM (21885) and radio version 1.02.25.32. I am pretty disappointed with the battery life, I have it connected to a USB cable for most of the day, so its charged at work. When I leave at 4pm, the phone is barely touched until 6:30am the following day, at which point the battery is dead.
Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS are all off, I have GLight, ASKicker and nueROM Processor running on Powersave mode. I have not messed with the settings of these much yet, but am surprised at how poor the battery really is.
I will probably end up picking up a 1500mAH battery at some point.
lately ive had terrible battery life because of data.
i have average while texting and just using the phone
but data can take off about 7 pct every 10 mins. that dont seem normal to me
