If you search around you can find instructions on how to update manually. So far there are no issues.
As for Apps on the SD card... not at this time. Also you can search around for the more appropriate thread.

Ive noticed on the Android website it has a video about 1.6 update but can I update my Magic to 1.6 yet?
If so were and how do I do it? I havnt had the phone long... bit of a newb im afraid
If your phone is rooted then you should be able to get the official 1.6
what does Rooted mean? I take it hacked....
In which case it isnt
So I take it I can't just download it onto my phone yet?
Anyone know when it is released prop?

FYI: This is probably a general question and not a development question.

It will take you 15 minutes to do it if you are feeling adventurous. If you follow these directions you will end up with CyanogenMod 4.0.4. Once you are done with that walkthrough you can download one of the new 1.6 ROMs like the one from Akira and you will be good to go.
But you may want to learn how to partition your SD card, and today is your lucky day since they are giving away Paragon Partition Manager 10 for free for today only if you download AND install from http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/. Either way make sure to READ READ READ, google can answer most any question you could have.
I'm a recent convert from the apple universe to the droid, captivate universe.
I have a little knowledge in programming and was excited to play round with the phone. And yes I know, I know (or don't know) enough to cause problems.
I have a couple of noob questions and just want to make sure of the answers before I do anymore.
Within the first two days of picking up the phone I “rooted” the 2.1 O.S. to see how I could speed the unit up. Few days after that I installed 2.2 OS to see how that would affect the system and what speed increases I would see.
My noob questions are;
Is the original ROM 2.1 still on the phone? And if so what is the best way to back it up.
If not, can I get a copy of it somewhere?
My thought is when AT&T release the actual upgrade I might want to reinstall the original ROM and do their upgrade.
I know I should have started out by backing up but I was excited to start tinkering.
If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Welcome to Android. Read, read and read some more.
If u rooted and installed a custom rom, the factory os is gone. The only way to get it back is using the Odin app from ur computer. I don't remember where to get it. I know if u look around in the dev area u will see all the other rom threads and some require to have ur phone back on the original os. They sometimes have a link to Odin.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Many Thanks!
Awesome Site!!
Hello everyone, I'm new here, and noticed no topics on developing roms for the android based SiriusXM Lynx, From what I understand, it runs on Froyo. For those of you unaware, it is a Satellite/wifi/bluetooth radio, but has android under it. A friend of mine discovered the recovery menu on his Radio today, and posted some pics.
(I would post these pics here, but I am unable to right now since I am new)
Anyone think this thing can get a custom Rom on this to run a regular version of android, or any neat tricks to play on this little device? my aplolgies if this is not the right place to put this thread, just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about this? thanks again guys.
i would like this also and also found recovery

mine gets stuck on update and restart. useless as of now. can we load something on an sdcard?
Hello all. OK I am a new user to XDA however I have both the Galaxy Tab 2 7 and Infuse 4g running CM9 and the HTC Amaze running Energy rom. Anyways my question is that for CM10 on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, will there be any way that apps can be move to the external sd without having to use GL to Sd card? I have a 16gb sd card and my tab internal memory is 8. I have looked at the CM10 for the gtab 2 7.0 and haven't found any answers. So can someone give me an answer. I want to flash CM10 and need to know if I can do it. If anyone wants to critique my spelling and grimmer, go ahead however, this is not school nor and none of us are perfect writers. Anyways if anyone can answer my question I would be very grateful.
P.S. I am not no noob or newbie whatsoever when it comes to rooting and flashing phones. I have starting flashing devices since last year with Huawei Ascend from Froyo to CM7 gingerbread. Rooted Samsung Admire and Samsung Captivate and flashed (bricked a few times) Samsung Infuse 4 from stock to various roms to finally CM9 android 4.0.4. Right now my active devices are both my HTC Amaze and Galaxy tab 2 7.0 wifi only running CM9. I know it is irrelevant. :good:
Link2SD
Think you have to partition the SD card to primary first , sorry not tried/used it . Hopefully someone can explain better than me ?
Off topic :
If all people can do is correct your spelling and not offer valid help ....F**k 'em ! I can never understand why people feel the urge to do that , it's childish and not really helpful to the question that is asked.
Sean
When they do try and correct someone I laugh at them. I been a visitor to this site since last year when I started to flash, root, etc.. It is like we all supposed to know to spell every word every created. No of us are perfect but it doesn't bother me at all. It is just funny though
I tired using Link2sd but that doesn't work. I do love what I hear from development on CM10 but I dont want to flash it yet unless you can move apps to external Sd card. I wonder is there a script or something I can flash thru Clockwork as a zip or do I have to push a file thru ADB
Ah Ok my bad ...It doesn't work on CM10 .Sorry about that rchad28 , did say i never tried it. Hope you find a solution soon tho !
Yeah a Grammar Nazi is just a troll that thinks it a bad ass lol .
Thanks Sean, yeah since I did not see a fix for CM9 just want wondering if there is APP to sd capabilities. But it all good. I will continue searching for my answers.
Greetings to whoever is reading this!
I recently got a HTC HD2 phone with JellyBean 4.2 or 4.3 installed, I'm not sure. But I've been having memory problems with the phone. Whenever I install too many apps, the internal memory of the phone goes low and I can't install anything. I used Link2SD to transfer the apps to the SD card (and yes, I partioned it correctly I think) but I still get the memory low warning.
My question is: Is it possible to downgrade from JellyBean to Android 2.3 version?
I think I screwed up a little, because while having the JellyBean still installed, I installed something else over it trying to downgrade. But that's not causing any problems so far.
I'm quite a noob when it comes to android so please bear with me. Is it possible to delete everything that is installed on this phone, and start installing Android 2.3 from the beginning? If yes, then can you please tell me step-by-step how it is done, or if there is any guide that I missed, can you point me to it?
Thank you very much!

@classic20 - You should be able to retrograde to Gingerbread in the same manner you would upgrade the phone. Also, navigate to the HTC HD2 portion of XDA, you may have better luck if you do some digging there.

Thank you Sergeri. I am new to this forum so I didn't know the best place to post the question. Would you please refer me with a link to the HD2 sub-forum?

Haha, I know how to search with the keyboard. When I said I am a noob, I meant on this forum and about Android in general, not the computers
Anyway, I wiped my phone with the help of a friend and installed Gingerbread 2.3 or something like that.
But, I would really like to thank you for taking the time to reply.
