flashing interface? - G1 Android Development

I hold back key at boot time, the comes out a for color screen , red green dark blue, and white.
the red part has some text:
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-1.22.12.29
Sep 2 2008
when i press camera key, is says serial0 in green part.
then plug usb, press again, "serial0" disapeared.
Is this screen the flashing screen or something?
Is there a way to flash imgs to the device?

It seems like it uses the same bootloader style as all other windows mobile HTC devices.
This should be useful for flashing roms/fw.
I wonder if it works the same way as WM devices....if so..we are getting closer to created an exe that will flash via GUI.

can you still get to bootloader?
No more bootloader screen, just a blank white screen.
I had the bootloader screen b4 and tried to reflash it, even though flash was successful, it still turns off after splash screen. So I tried one of the Qtech bootloader roms and flash that, now it's worse than before. I only get a blank white screen when I load the bootloader.

i also got the problem with my sda, it also happened while flashing, do u already found a solution
Guys, are you speek about one subj? Bootloader mode is activated when you start your device with camera button pressed. There is NO white screen - in bootloader mode OS is NOT loading at all! But - you can start re-flashing process as usual
If it works, I recommend you to flash back your native ROM and then check the device. If everything is fine - you know what to do If not - let's continue thread...
And one more thing - are you sure, that your SDA is based on Tornado platform? AFFAIN SDA has two reincarnations - one of them is based on Typhoon platform, other one - on Tornado one. There are a LOT of cases, when people flased Tornado ROM to the first one and had a dead device after it Be VERY carefull!!! And read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288498

so in this case, it seems like it's mine, just got a white screen and no bootloader mode
I would be lucky if I can still get into bootloader mode which means there is life left. Now, all I get is a white screen on the Tornado( it's a T-mobile SDA-silver color with bump). I am looking to see if the dealer would be able to revive it. I got a MDA now
About get into bootloader there's enough hints from peoples above. Simply hold camera button while you press the power button, and soon you will see a three color stripped screen, without normal booting splash like "DOPOD". Then you'll be able to flash as you like with RUU of MTTY.
I'm just guessing you've been flashed a Radio version over 02.00.09. As I know, you have to upgrade your IPL version to 2.00 as well as a SPL upgrade to version 2.00.00, for the new RADIO to work. Just a hint you may not noticed.
there's nothing you can do. I had similar experience, went to bunch of services, no one could fix it.
Some one can repair it by "change the code lib", I don't know how to say it in english. But apparantly someone in my city can do it without touch your phone.

Fatal error on HTC 710

HI,
I have a fatal error on my HTC S710. After switching the phone on I get 3 horizontal bars on top a red bar with VOX ONBL 1.34.000 in the middle a green bar with SPL 1.34.000 and the a blue bar with CPLD -04
I have tried to upgrade to 1.34 but no success
After about 30 hard reboots I can get the phone working for 5min and then it hangs again and the 3 bars pop up.
So I think I need to completely reinstall WM 6 but can't find the file on this site?
And what tool to use the flash the rom??
Thx,
Go to the HTC site and download the official ROM! http://www.htc.com/support/support.htm it's in the e-club section and is only for HTC devices (not SPV's etc).
BTW google "S710 rom" reveals a lot of results. You could try that first.
Tho,
thanks for your reply. Have Downloaded and upgraded the ROM from HTC E-club. However now the phone hangs completely can't if get it to start up normally. Tried Hard reboots soft reboots even pressing the menu buttons above the 1 and 3 key and then pressing the power button.
Where does it hang when booting? If you're able to get to at least the black HTC screen, then the ROM was written however might have bad blocks in memory.
Try a hard reset with SIM and SD out of the device, hold the two soft keys and press power, hit the Green call start button when it prompts you - leave the phone for at least 15 minutes to be on the safe side. Then flash this; ftp://xda:[email protected]_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47_02.98.90.exe
and let us know what happens.
thx for the info h4waii.
However a hard reset does work. Acourding to the HTC technical helpdesk the boot loader is stuck, so it cant read the operating system files to boot the phone in to windows.
Also the Active Sync doens't reconises the phone any more.
H4waii,
I can get into the bootloader. I read on an other post that you said "If the ROM is corrupt, this is your best way of "recovering" your phone, if the ROM was flashed properly, after getting into the bootloader, run ruurun 0 and ResetDevice to boot it back into OS."
But how do run that ruurun. Still can't sync it with my laptop??
You need a terminal emulator, you can use MTTY. It's attached in the Vox USPL sticky and I will get you the link for the boot loader recognized commands.
EDIT: Here is a link to the USPL sticky that has MTTY attached: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909
and here is a link to the the Wiki for Hermes boot loader, many of the commands will work on the Vox: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_BootLoader
There is also a tool for the Universal that resets the DoC instructions, you might want to either give that a try or look at the command 'task 28 55aa'.
You do this at your own risk also, just wanted to throw that out there.

HTC Magic 32a brick

Hi everybody
Sorry for my bad English I'm Belgian and I have a big problem with my phone
I bought my phone on ebay, it's a HTC Magic 32a TimMobile.
I installed GyD rom and it worked perfect. But yesterday, I look that the new version of this rom is available for RADIO 3.22 and RADIO 6.35.
Firstly, I install version for 3.22 (like mine) but the phone begin very slow. Then I wanted install new radio and spl from this forum.
I installed SPL 1.33.2010 on first and reboot my phone : no problem.
After I downloaded and installed the 1.76.2007 SPL HBOOT image, 6.35.10.18 Radio Image and Amon_RA Hero Recovery.
But with that, when I went in fastboot, my phone restarted after 5 seconds.
I see that 6.35.10.18 Radio is for CA then I downloaded 6.35.08.29 radio on my sd card. But when I installed this and that my phone reboot, I have a pics of installation with a phone and a arrow and after a few seconds screen begin dark and nothing else...
I can't access in fastboot, adb, nothing
Is there a issue or my phone is definitely brick ?
Thank you very much.
Did you flash Hero Recovery to your phone prior to using fastboot ?
Power off your phone
Press HOME + POWER simultaniously .......are you back in Recovery now ?
应该是变砖头了~需要刷字库的。在中国大概500rmb左右。

Same thing happened to me. I have the Canadian phone but ended up with that same graphic that fades to nothing in a couple of seconds. I never did get mine back but here's what I know:
The phone is in some kind of factory load mode and it is possible that it is looking for a specific file from the SD. I found that out by changing the SD format and seeing a linux style lost.dir directory appear on the card after a boot (home + back + tap power). It is trying to do something but gives you no control over what it wants. You should see it fade to a bluish screen that then fades to a whitish screen. I've tried all sorts of files named to update.zip but never found the right one.
Unless you can find the file it is looking for you are bricked. That experience scares me from flashing any more radio versions.

Hmm. And fastboot or adb dever finds your phone?
no usb isn't detect
I had the same problem when I tried to update my SPL.
At least, the symptoms are the same.
Luckily, I could enter the recovery, and as I had left the previous rom on the sdcard, I could restore it.

Hmm... If placing some ROM file on a SD card is all that needed to flash it in your case, why don't you buy SD card reader for PC (they cost like $5) of find a friend/relative with a notebook computer?
I already try to put ROM file into my SD but it didn't work
damn every other thread I see people have bricked their phones...
did you flash update-hboot-1.33.2010-signed.zip? I flashed it when I saw one of cursordroid's post, and then now it is dead and stuck on splash screen. I can't access fastboot via back+power or vol down+power, I can't access recovery mode either. It's definitely a brick.
yes like me

Stuck at the boot screen

My magic was on the official sense UI, then yesterday I use the goldcard+RUU method to get it to something like this:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29
Aug 21 2009, 18:19:15
Then when I tried to flash a new rom, it got the error at line 2 and installation aborted. I was using fastboot trying to get the cm recovery on it. then one things led to another... I can't remember much coz it was really late at night I kinda dozed off.
Anyway, my magic is not stuck at the boot screen. No matter what I press: back+power, vol down+power, menu+power, it's STAYED AT the BOOT SCREEN.
Is there anything I can do now? I would be grateful if you guys can give me some instructions!
Okay, after reading more on the forum, I think I screwed up during the SPL flash. So, is that it? My Magic is bricked? I can just throw it to the trash now?

well, if you didn't flash the radio first, and then the spl ( what spl did you load, anyway?) then yea, it may be inescapable
this one: update-hboot-1762007-signed
how to determine if it is a real brick?
Thanks for reading anyway.

I performed a SPL flash, the phone rebooted ,it took long time rebooting so i got panicked i pulled out the battery ( wasn't a smart move ).
tried to start the phone.. now i was stuck at the first splash screen.
-pulled out the battery and back again start the phone... stuck at the first splash screen or boot looping endlessly,
-did all possible key combinations to get in fastboot, recovery mode... nothing.
-cried for help, got directed to a post similar to mo my case... worked for me hope it dose for everyone else.
here is what i did (followed):
-On the PC, i ran the command 'fastboot boot recoveryimage.img'.
-At this point the command says 'waiting for device' (or something like that).
-I removed the battery.
-I Connected USB.
-I inserted the battery.
-I booted the phone while holding the HOME key.
-The phone still froze at the first splash screen, but then suddenly, the waiting fastboot command detected the phone and booted the recovery image!
flashed again but this time checked step twice before i check it a third time, and flashed the SPL and radio and the rom.
thanks for posting ...
but this method doesn't seem to work on mine
i called htc care they said they might need to replace the motherboard?
Htc care fixed it for free and sending it back to me by dhl tomorrow (still free)

and what do the logs say?
first check the boot logs...
if the phone goes on- through boot screen,
and hangs on boot animation,
one of the reasons for me, was always missing or
corrupted some software component
( framework-res in my case )
if you are able to obtain the logs,
read them or attach them to the post
with some info about software ver. on board,
and the like,
you can also try to reflash ruu
but i`d wait a little with that
to see what is really happening
behind the curtain....
Thank you for your quick reply and sorry for my late one!

red triangle, when booting in to stock recovery is quite normal,
you need a custom one to proceed with anything,
as for logcats...
you`ll need to install and set up ADB on your computer,
(with ADB and fastboot drivers instaled- for the ver. of windows you`re using)
so, when you plug the phone in,
it`ll be recognised as adb device, with its specific number,
and/or, while in fastboot mode...
when it is all set and comunicating,
you shall:
- connect the phone to pc
- open up terminal (command prompt)
- direct it where ADB is installed with < cd c:\ >command
- boot the phone as ussual
and type in terminal:
adb logcat >phone.txt [enter]
wait a while for the logcat to proceed
and to finish-
simultanously hit < Ctrl+c >
now, in the adb directory ( where you`ve directed terminal before)
you`ll find < phone.txt > file...
and that`s the logcat file:fingers-crossed:
at the end I resolved with 2 consecutive hard reset
the phone magically has booted and works fine :good:
really really strange...
Thank you very much for your help! :highfive:
