after replacing the touchscreen it hangs on boot
it load the htc logo then play the gingle and play the "quite brilliant" animation and then it stay there forever
it is not the first time i replace a screen or open a device and i'm quite sure I did not mess anything.

and what do the logs say?
first check the boot logs...
if the phone goes on- through boot screen,
and hangs on boot animation,
one of the reasons for me, was always missing or
corrupted some software component
( framework-res in my case )
if you are able to obtain the logs,
read them or attach them to the post
with some info about software ver. on board,
and the like,
you can also try to reflash ruu
but i`d wait a little with that
to see what is really happening
behind the curtain....

Thank you for your quick reply and sorry for my late one!
the phone is stock android 2.3 deployed by htc

red triangle, when booting in to stock recovery is quite normal,
you need a custom one to proceed with anything,
as for logcats...
you`ll need to install and set up ADB on your computer,
(with ADB and fastboot drivers instaled- for the ver. of windows you`re using)
so, when you plug the phone in,
it`ll be recognised as adb device, with its specific number,
and/or, while in fastboot mode...
when it is all set and comunicating,
you shall:
- connect the phone to pc
- open up terminal (command prompt)
- direct it where ADB is installed with < cd c:\ >command
- boot the phone as ussual
and type in terminal:
adb logcat >phone.txt [enter]
wait a while for the logcat to proceed
and to finish-
simultanously hit < Ctrl+c >
now, in the adb directory ( where you`ve directed terminal before)
you`ll find < phone.txt > file...
and that`s the logcat file:fingers-crossed:

at the end I resolved with 2 consecutive hard reset
the phone magically has booted and works fine :good:
really really strange...
Thank you very much for your help! :highfive:

Stuck at the boot screen

My magic was on the official sense UI, then yesterday I use the goldcard+RUU method to get it to something like this:

Then when I tried to flash a new rom, it got the error at line 2 and installation aborted. I was using fastboot trying to get the cm recovery on it. then one things led to another... I can't remember much coz it was really late at night I kinda dozed off.
Anyway, my magic is not stuck at the boot screen. No matter what I press: back+power, vol down+power, menu+power, it's STAYED AT the BOOT SCREEN.
Is there anything I can do now? I would be grateful if you guys can give me some instructions!
Okay, after reading more on the forum, I think I screwed up during the SPL flash. So, is that it? My Magic is bricked? I can just throw it to the trash now?

well, if you didn't flash the radio first, and then the spl ( what spl did you load, anyway?) then yea, it may be inescapable
this one: update-hboot-1762007-signed
how to determine if it is a real brick?
Thanks for reading anyway.

I performed a SPL flash, the phone rebooted ,it took long time rebooting so i got panicked i pulled out the battery ( wasn't a smart move ).
tried to start the phone.. now i was stuck at the first splash screen.
-pulled out the battery and back again start the phone... stuck at the first splash screen or boot looping endlessly,
-did all possible key combinations to get in fastboot, recovery mode... nothing.
-cried for help, got directed to a post similar to mo my case... worked for me hope it dose for everyone else.
here is what i did (followed):
-On the PC, i ran the command 'fastboot boot recoveryimage.img'.
-At this point the command says 'waiting for device' (or something like that).
-I removed the battery.
-I Connected USB.
-I inserted the battery.
-I booted the phone while holding the HOME key.
-The phone still froze at the first splash screen, but then suddenly, the waiting fastboot command detected the phone and booted the recovery image!
flashed again but this time checked step twice before i check it a third time, and flashed the SPL and radio and the rom.
thanks for posting ...
but this method doesn't seem to work on mine
i called htc care they said they might need to replace the motherboard?
Htc care fixed it for free and sending it back to me by dhl tomorrow (still free)

I've been stupid....Desire, trying to get adb working in fastboot?

Hi all.
So I used revolutionary to s-off and root. the installed a ICS ROM to my desire played with it for a bit - didn't like it.
Decided to run an RUU to put my phone back - big mistake..... I didn't realise the revolutionary Hboot wouldn't be overwritten. now my phone just boots to white background with green HTC logo...no further
I cannot run recovery from the revolutionary hboot menu, just does the white background HTC thing....
I can't run adb from command prompt, will not see my device. I'm sure I had usb debugging left on
I'm stuck.... can anyone help at all? I can't boot to anything and hboot doesn't appear to work
I know I shouldn't have run that RUU, it's my own stupid fault
many thanks peeps
Mark.
and I've tried running the'unlock bootloader' from the HTC site, which does see my phone but says it can't update as ROM is out of date
anyone? pretty please

Bricked Sensation (I think), HELP!

okay so long story short i'm not a noob to flashing, rooting, roms or anything else of that matter just new to htc devices so i thought i could tackle my sisters htc sensation 4g by rooting & flashing aokp on the phone like what i already have on my droid X & galaxy nexus...
got it to boot aokp & nothing else it would freeze as soon as i unlocked the screen & reboot....
but that's not the problem, i tried to go back into recovery & restore my backup but it gets about 97ish % done & shuts off leaving me at a blank screen & unable to turn it back on unless i pull the batt and try again.
after that it boots to the white htc screen then flashes to the other one with the black lettering under the "HTC" vibrates and ends up in that everlasting bootloop.....
i read something about being able to do a factory restore from i think something called an rru file but i have no idea on how to do that or cant even find anything on it..
all help is appreciated as my sis is getting pretty pissed at me right about now

Can you go into Bootloader?
(pull battery and then vol down + power)
Gives you a white screen
Post all the details its showing.
Then part 2
Did you have adb/fastboot setup?
If not then go to sensation q & a or sensation general section and see in stickies there will be a thread for adb and fastboot setup
. Follow that guide and set it up
After you got adb
Keep your phone in fastboot (go to bootloader and then select fastboot from it use vol up/down to browse and power to select) and connect it to your pc
Then go to your adb folder
And type this from Cmd prompt
(to open Cmd prompt hold shift + right click on the white space and click on "open command prompt here")
Type this
fastboot getvar all
Post the complete output except imei and serial number
I'll guide you through ruu based on the outputs you give
Sent from my pyramid.. Through blazing fast sonic waves
Yes i can get into the boot loader, it reads as follows:

(menu options here)
do you mean fast boot as in before i rooted it from he phones power menu?
if so no, i turned it off so i guess i'll go check into that.....
nevermind, got it all set back to stock, then ended up trying it again & it worked perfectly.. don't know what the problem was first time around.. i even wen't back & checked md5 like 8 times on both gapps & the rom package.....

[Q] Stock HTC One S Boot Loop

Sorry for beginning a new thread, I searched around and haven't found this exact issue resolved elsewhere.
I have a completely stock HTC One S US T-Mob, as of now it is bootloader unlocked. It is unrooted and has never been rooted. I received this phone from insurance just a week ago, everything was running fine, all of a sudden the phone shut off and began endlessly rebooting. It boots up to the HTC logo, goes black and starts over again. The phone does not have USB debugging enabled because I never planned to modify it. I can get into the bootloader and fastboot, however, no options in the bootloader menu are responsive. If I select anything other than "Power Down" in the fastboot menu the phone instantly returns to bootlooping. I can't select "factory reset" or anything. I can't even plug the phone in to charge without it re-entering a bootloop.
I've been trying to find a way to force USB debugging, or flash a stock rom just so that I can reset the damn thing back to stock. That is why the bootloader is now unlocked. Everything was completely stock when the bootloop took hold.
I'm hoping someone can help me out with a fix. I don't care about recovering my data, I don't care about modifying this phone, I just want to get out of this bootloop and back to stock. Please help. Is there anything I can do?
Here is the text from my bootloader.

Well it seems most of the damage has been done. I would flash RUU using the all in one tool kit. It might be possible your boot image became corrupt. You could even flash a custom rom at this point since your bootloader is already unlocked.

Hey, thank you so much for your reply. I've got the All-In-One toolkit, and when I try to use it to flash an RUU or ROM it says Device Not Found. I have HTC Sync installed, so the drivers should be there, and everything else looks to be in place. The All-In-One dialogue says that USB debugging must be enabled, and it is not.
Is there a way around?
can't get out of boot loop!
was on ElementalX 5.0, but i started experiencing bad battery life, so flashed ElementalX 4.3, and got stuck in the loop.
when i had boot loop happening before, i just had to flash boot.img via cmd, but that's not doing anything.

Big troubles in a little HTC One XL

Hi everyone. I'm having some issues with an HTC One XL, model PJ83100.
Basically it won't boot up. It shows the HTC logo and reboots, it shows the logo again and reboots again, and so on until the battery dies.:crying:
Now, I can enter the bootloader screen and the fastboot too, with a great deal of effort I must say, since quickly pressing the power button repeatedly it's needed and doesn't work everytime.
The drivers and the adb tools are configurative on my pc and working.
Already successfully installed the update HTC_One_X_RUU_5.18.502.1 and the latest 5.18 OTA firmware.
Now, the bootloader screen shows this:
*** UNLOCKED ***
EVITA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-11111111
HBOOT-2.18.0000
RADIO-1.35a.32.45.27
OpenDSP-v33.1.0.45.1128
eMMC-boot
Dec 3 2013,17:10:01:22502
Now, I don't really know where to go from here. I tried installing openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-evita.img and openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-evita.img but neither works. If I try to boot to recovery then it starts the reboot cycle over again, only this time the first time it shows the logo with the red text bellow like it's going to enter recovery but then the reboot cycle again.
What can I do to make this phone alive again? What could it be happening?
- Ok LordBaal19, have you tried flashing the twrp-3.1.0-0-evita.img ?
- No LordBaal19, I haven't.
- Try it.
- Okay.... hey it worked! Now I can access Team Win Recovery Project 3.1.0-0.... Now what?
- I don't know... try to install a rom? What about Avatar ROM cm-1.0b-20121206-evita.zip?
- Already tried. It installs but when loading with the mask animation it reboots and never finish loading.
I never finished repairing this toaster. It turned out it has a defective memory which caused all the errors.
