The in built alarm sucks and id like a nice alarm app for the hd2, any suggestions?
G-Alarm ALLLLL the way: (not free, but cheap and worth it)
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/about
Although it does my head in trying to solve mathematics when I'm half asleep...at least it gets me out of bed...
I have the best suggestion for you:
at the top of the page you see a taskbar, when you click on search there will popup a new window. Now here is the tricky part, you should not type what you are looking for directly at the popup up screen but click on "use the built in forum search". Now when you have done that, you can search in the whole forum for a topic about a good alarm for the HD2 (because there are dozens of topics about this). To make it a little easier for yourself you should select the Leo forums section on the right.
Good luck
try spb time v3.2.0.

I agree, this is one of the best WM alarm applications i've ever seen. It even set's a dummy alarm in Windows Alarm, so in any Skin, Shell or other application displaying alarms, they show up (like in Manila or Sense and in SPB Shell).
If you having trouble waking up, you can use a puzzle or a maze to disable or snooze the alarm.

WOW.... you just made yourself look like an elitist punk....
One thing that i DO NOT understand about you guys (Elitist) is that, why don't you guys just answer the question?! Is it that hard? Is writing a full paragraph in a sorry attempt to be witty easier?
You should try to acknowledge the fact that not everyone visits this page everyday or has XDA saved as their homepage so that they know all the topics being posted....
It was a simple question which for some reason was a little too difficult for you to answer... re-evaluate what it is that you're trying to "teach" the new members here ya??
dismissed
and back on topic G-Alarm is one of the more popular ones... you can find the thread around here somewhere...or its even in your marketplace...
+1 for G-Alarm (and by the way G-Profile)
G-alarm is not free. Give a try to Klaxon or Spoon alarm. Both are freeware. the first one supports g-sensor for switching off alarms as G-Alarm does. I don't know for the second
G-Alarm 1.5.1 still floats around, that last free version, but honestly the best €5 you'll ever spend...
I've attached G-Alarm 1.5.1 for ya

Right to the point (the elitist thing and G-Alarm...)
If you're looking strictly for an alarm clock that's nicer the built in alarm, and you're really stuck on it being free, Herm's software, Nightstand, is a free (you can buy him a beer from his page), and it works well on the HD2. Not as customizable as G-Alarm, but, again, if you don't feel like paying for G-Alarm, this is a nice alternative: http://www.hermssoftware.com/node/41
/J
^^ i have played around with that app as well.. but in all honesty.. i believe g-alarm is a damn good app.. well worth the couple cents.. but again.. the alternative that junga posted works great as well..
cheers

I disagree with your view point and your attitude.
It is more important to teach someone to fish then to give him a fish. If we keep asking same questions over and over again, this forum will become a useless pile of junk.

true.. but you should keep this in mind... this is an online forum for our specified mobile phone... if we can't ask here.. then why are we here?? it's a discussion for ALL things related to our phone.. regardless of how much it comes up.... (it may be old news and recurring for someone that visits this page every day.. but for someone else... it may be new and fresh info... this forum is not only for your veiwing needs... its a COMMUNITY forum... and you should treat it as such...)
if we wanted an "scripted" or textbook answer then we would go to either yahoo or google and find some info there... but we ask questions here.. because it's "real" people with real opinions, with real input, and real solutions... all the responses here are personalized.. which makes it so much more relatable as opposed to an instruction manual...
if that's too hard to understand.. then i'm afraid this community has worsen since its earlier days...
either way.... your comment was OFF TOPIC... stay on topic or leave... since we like telling others what to do
sorry mods.. but i had to teach someone how to fish...
i use touch alarm pro. don't think it's free, but it's a pretty good program. btw, there's a free version is called touch alarm.

I agree with you somehow. In xda these days, it's becoming a routine for some people, to just jump in these kind of threads and said "why dont you use the search tools" and follow by "blah, blah, blah, whatever, etc". Why dont just answer the questions, or follow by an answer after your say? It doesnt take much time, does it?
I just joined in this forum not so long, and I am somehow proud that I've never asked these easy-to-find questions. With a new forum, a new device, I always search, and when I think I know it all, then I will jump in, post and join the community, share views, comments, helps, etc. But, not so many people have much spare time as I do, check xda everyday, read every posts and threads. They have works, jobs, families, and maybe only got lunch time to visit xda to get help. To search and find an exact answer to a question, it may take plenty of time.
So people, you may teach a lesson about searching, but it will be more kind of you if you give out an answer after your lesson. That's what I think
android iphone
XDA is for development of new wimo/android based phones. I have been in my tilt forum for 2 years and the culture there(and a few others) has become about saving an old peice of hardware with android or heavily tweaked wimo. I thought this mentality could be carried to the iphone for users who want to save a peice of crap by turning it into android. I see now that most users here are able to afford new phones every year or sooner and do not have the "save my device" mentality, which i understand.
what i dont understand is why this mentality is carrying over to hate towards a forum for a specific phone that already has some development on converting it to the android that is so beloved here.
I think pre conceived notions that there are not intelligent people who end up with an iphone and can port it into something useful, mixed with a fear of a thread running away into icrap, make this idea impossible.
either way it is imposable so this discussion should be closed

why cant we abuse the hardware? i hate iOS i like the hardware over the tilt
there is already good development on android for the hardware.
like i said before a jailbreak forum would be stupid, but if it is moderated to android development...
legal issues?
What a great idea. It sure would help clean up the forums. I see 3-8 posts a week complaining about the iPhone I wish people would just give it a rest. The iPhone Did this the iPhone did that, guys just shut up you spend more time talking about the iPhone than you do about Android and Wm. If you want to talk about the iphone go to an iphone forum. For the record I am not an apple fan boy by far but I do not hate the iPhone. In fact I'm glad it was made. If it wasn't I wouldn't be holding my nexus one right now tryping all of this.
If you have an iphone forum, then you may as well introduce any other phone on the market...no thanks.
If it goes ahead, may I suggest the forum description contains "Please don't mock the aflicted"

Are you crazy?
There are plenty of Icrap forums out there and they are very good i just don't feel the need to tarnish the reputation of XDA with an Icrap FORUM, it sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.
Joking aside the thing is every one has there opinion and they like the device they have and i respect that so asking the question is valid, But do you think if you went to a dedicated Ipone forum and asked for an Wm and android section what would the reply be

edit: By the way you should check out http://twitter.com/supercurio if i could have anyone represent me right now i believe he would be the best
so, we are only allowed to ask questions we should already know the answer to, or could look up via search engine? C'mon, really?...really?
I dont know just providing the link saw it on samsung johns twitter we will see what questions actually get answerd
does anyone know if xda sells out cheap, or if samsung had to really wine and dine first?

i hope whoever created this list of "good questions"
didn't do so with a straight face.....doesn't samsung have their own support site for basic knowledge/softball question of that nature?
Not trying to flame but that seems pointless.
PS - i think it is completely asinine to say that "where is froyo" is a bad question or off limits when along with questions about flawed gps or random shutdowns is probably the most pertinent and pressing question especially given that it had been promised by the end of 2010....my 2 cents.
this is useless. its a big pr stunt. all of the questions that are "good questions" are the ones we dont need someone inside samsung to tell us. the "bad questions" are the only ones we want answered. yet again, samsung fails.
Just sent a question, a good question by their standards. Will post back when and if I get a reply.
step one: google "samsungjohn" or "samsung john"
step two: only submit questions about those questionable results...

Yup, all the questions I have would be in the bad category.....figures.
Pathetic. I'm ashamed that xda has become Samsung's propaganda machine. Tell Samsung to answer the questions we have about gps and froyo. No one cares about the S in Galaxy S. That's a horrible question.
Take the page down tell Samsung to do their own advertising.

i was taught in school that there are no bad questions just bad answers. Is no answer a bad answer?
they should give us a more comprehensive list of acceptable questions.
and since they will only answer acceptable questions and generally know what the acceptable questions are why don't they just release it as a FAQ.
the only part of that form that makes any sense if the developer feedback.
my questions
"Thank you for opening a line of communication to your user base. My questions are,
Does Samsung see a value in the work that the devs have done on Xda?
Does this value help or hurt our chances of future updates to the phones?
Now that multiple threads by SamsungJohn have been open and closed due to obvious and just flaming (flaming could have been toned down), Does samsung actually see the anger of its customer base and are they willing to actually do anything about it. This site has a lot more pull when it comes to word of mouth than what they perceive.
why are you only wanting non technical questions that we can get the answers to by reading our manuals, or searching on the internet"
Hopefully i won't get flagged/banned or whatever.
I'm a full time software developer. If I told my boss that asking when my next software version will be released was a bad question I would be fired.
Samsung - You're fired.

ok ok i know im new hear but first impressions. i dont fell welcome.
the problem isnt the users hear. they are great..........its the moderators.
all i see is threds less than 24hours old with no replyes are closed. threads that need to be talked about. also threads that where closed for no reason. or some one has made a mistake and rather than fix the problom they just close it.
why are they doing this?
also after meany pleas from alot of users. they still refuse to make an xperia pro (not mini) thread or a sony tablet p thread
we cant "just use the xperia arc or xperia s forums" as they are still verry different when it comes to rooting ect,
this place moderated in the wrong way. this isnt supposed to be a dictatorship

Grow up. XDA is free. Most of us here, including mods, do this for NOTHING, except the occasional press of the thanks button.

I'm sorry you feel that way dude, but you have to remember that the primary goal of XDA is development. Lot's of friendly people do their best to help the less tech savvy work their way through how to do things, but the primary purpose is to make it as easy as possible for the developers to develop. That means spam needs to be kept to a minimum.
I'm sorry, but that's just the way things are, and the majority of users are ok with this because they see that the results of this Iron Fist is faster and better development for all.
Isn't that video a part of the sign-up process anyway?
I don't believe so, but it should be. And if there was any place to vote on that, I'd vote for it 100%. I really, really believe it would help cut down on threads like these, especially since it has some humor in it and not everyone knows how to use a forum from the get go.
Hmmm.......I think this forum is great....
Half of the threads that are posted in different sections don't belong there. It's annoying seeing "Why is my phone rebooting?" with a very vague description of the problem, in the General section.
That's why most are closed, they're just in the wrong section.
