Hi there,
I experience two problems with my TP and like to know if somebody else has the same:
1. Sometimes when I've switched on WiFi using the CommManager, used it for a while and then switch it off again, it seems to stay on (the white LED keeps flashing like it does when transmitting data over the WiFi connection; even worse is that the battery drains real quickly)
2. When having downloaded e-mails from an IMAP server the external keyboard stops working in the TP's e-mail client. Restarting the client solves this.

It turns on mostly durning incomming call.
I've found some information about this issue on other forums.
Propably coused by enabled DirectPush. When phone starts a call, the EDGE connection is interrupt. Sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after few second, Wifi turns on.
Theroy says - DirectPush force wifi to get connected.
It's not happend after soft reset with Wifi off. It happends when Wifi was enabled and disabled before manualy.
This is annoying of course...
Is someone experince this same issue with Raphael? Maybe there is some solution? I like to be "as item arrive" connected...
I have the same issue...using the Proven 14a WWE. During the incomming call the WiFi is turning on. Anybody can help?
Thanks
J.
Same here, started when I installed GB-SOFT tweak to disable data connection after x minutes idle. Wifi turn on when I make or recieve a call, data connection is of when I start the caal and durring the call my TP checks my business mail (set to check account every 5 minutes). Probably caused due to the fact that TP is forced to check my mail but cannot open GPRS or UMTS connection because of the call.
If I set GB-SOFT tweak to always connect to the data network I dont have the issue. So my temporary solution is to stay connected to the network, it at least drains the battery less compared to WiFi.
I've got the same issue. I think it does have something to do with direct push set up for exchange. There really isn't much on the forums (or at least I am having a tough time finding anything) in the way of resolving this. Some were saying that it is a "feature" haha. No thanks!
Well...yesterday I tryied several ROMs..Lantis, ROMeOS, Elite...so far so good at the end I turned back to Proven..however after that jugglin' with ROM's I don't see the WiFi turning on accidentally again...just guessing, maybe it is just some bug during loading process..when you try again you might be lucky ..worth tryin'
cheers
It would help if everyone stated the ROM and Radio as well as other basic information when posting problem reports.
Well, I have ROMeOS 1.60.2 with .28 radio.
I've had this problem on my Hermes as well.
Im 100% sure, that is caused by active DirectPush.
It's just trying to stay connected during phone call and forces wifi to start and connect.
It's very annoying, but i don't think there is solution for this.
Here its stock ROM and radio .20M1. It definately has something to do with trying to make a data connection wile on a call. For me it is however not when I am always connected but when I set "make a connection every 5 mins". Since I changed to radio .20M1 did not experience the WiFi popup, but this can also be because I selected the always connect.
Furthermore I beleive it has something to do with some programme installed lately because I did not see this phenomen the first few months. But what is it ......
OK sorry for that I should mention it earlier...
I have Proven 14a
Radios tested .19, .28, .32 - everywhere the same issue...since yesterday when I wrote my last post I saw it only once! Which is pretty good...till that time it was happening every call.
cheers
Come on guys. it's very simple. If you have defined direct Push "as item arrive", and you turn on than off your wifi, than it's almost for sure that you will have this issue. it's not connected with radio or rom. it's just wm bug.....
the outlook is downloading emails every 15mins...the Push is turned off...how should I setup the outlook to use only GPRS/EDGE connection and not use the Wifi if the GPRS is not available during call?
thanks

I'm not sure what you mean here exactly. Are you saying that you have a VPN set up? If you did something specific to fix this issue, I'd be very interested in getting more of a step by step, because this is driving me nuts.
Hi,
I have been a smartphone (non touchscreen) user for years, I had a pocket pc (universal) for a while but didn't get on with it due to its size and flakyness and this very same issue, though at least its screen would switch off.
My trusty old s710 started corrupting its memory cards at regular intervals (every couple of days) so I decided to go for a pro. so far its been a big mistake can anyone please make any suggestions?
I managed to work out most of the issues, very poor performance, etc were down to a very old rom, though the very poor cellular and gps performance i guess there is no fixing but I have an issue where your help/comments would be appreciated before it goes back to /usr/ebay/
The main issue is with the power management, I want to be able to pick up my email at regular intervals and leave nimbuzz (chat client) running on wifi or cellular, with my old s710 this isnt a problem but I cant find out how to get the wifi to stay on or programs stay running when it goes into standby. If I tell it not to switch off the backlight stays on dim and the screen stays on. It seems to be the power state modes on PPC are some what different. On a smartphone when it goes into standby everything still runs, wifi is on etc.. but this thing just grinds to a halt so to me its useless as it stands. Can anyone tell me how to keep the phone running but switch off the backlight? and will this seriously impact battery life (will it still do 18hrs like my s710 would)?
If this isn't fixable is there another smartphone I should be looking at? I like the s710 but it hasn't enough memory. Just not the rose its just too big.
Many thanks
j
Haven't tried this myself, but I saw it. Try installing Advance Config, then go to the More settings (right softkey) then hit connections. There's a check box for enabling wifi on standy. I've noticed though, even on standby, wifi kicks in at certain intervals to retrive mail, but I have my mail through exchange, so I don't know if that's the reason why. Hope that helps.
There's no way you gonna get 18hrs with wifi turned on continuously.
TP's battery life is crap

Hi
thanks for that one, yes it works as far as keeping the wifi on but the programs still stop or at least no longer make a noise when a message comes in....
re battery, bummer, maybe an extended battery would help?
My HD7 worked without issue from the beginning of the year til around a month ago.
All of a sudden, my WiFi became extremely unreliable, sometimes taking an overly long time to recognise or connect to an obvious access point, sometimes finding none at all.
After I do manage to connect wirelessly, I see no speed increase in data transfer to suggest that the phone is even using the wireless link. Web pages sometimes load slower than over 3G. I had read that HD7s have trouble using certain WiFi protocols and adjusted accordingly, but the workaround was to no avail.
Additionally, once WiFi has been selected, I cannot switch it off. I am 'locked out' of the WiFi settings page. When I tap it in the menu it responds as if I've nudged it but it cannot load. The only solution is to remove the battery. On occasion, this stuck WiFi has also caused the capacitive buttons, camera and power switch to become inactive. Curiously, touch screen function seems unaffected.
I thought maybe this issue was tied to corrupt settings with my hub, but changing SSID / WEP key etc etc on my router hasn't fixed the problem, and connection to other open WiFi signals jam the phone just as badly.
I upgraded to Mango in the hope that a fresh OS update may 'rejig' my wireless settings into working, but again, no joy.
Anyone experienced anything similar? My final options seem to be factory reset the handset to see if that solves the issue, or return the handset to O2. (Both involve losing all my data, game saves, application data AND the recently delisted SW: Battle for Hoth permanently.)
Anyone got any other thoughts?
*EDIT* After a bit more research, I found that even when the phone has connected to a WiFi source, by turning Operator Data Service off, you can see that the WiFi service is in fact not doing anything.
I braved a factory reset, managed to whack WiFi on no problem, browser ran at appropriate speed, then everything crashed as per usual, I couldn't connect to the marketplace and had to pull the battery in order to use any of the capacitive buttons. I guess it was a hardware issue individual to my phone after all.
Guess I'll give O2 a ring sometime soon to sort a replacement. Not looking forward to losing all my game progress though it has to be said.
bro i m having the same exact problem havent find any solution yet i even tried to copy and replace the wifi files from another clean htc hd7 but useless when i upgraded to 7740 the wifi worked perfectly for 1 night only then at the morning it stopped working, everything else works great. my theory says that its not a hardware problem cz i used internet sharing which uses the wifi adapter (if i m right) so its a software I GUESS

I had the same problem as well, couldn't connect, got to the point where even the power button stopped responding. Hard resets would only help for a short time and enabling WIFI would never connect right and eventually get me back to the same problem. I then got a replacement device, but it's not much better, I still can't connect to any WIFI, but at least it's not freezing up on me. My solution thus far has been just to avoid turning on WIFI if at all possible, but it's far from a perfect workaround. I'm guessing it's the HTC WIFI driver that's got issues.
i got similar problem.. send phone to service problem was "circut board"
replaced working fine...
when i was using wifi my phone was freezing some menus stop working and i have to remove battery
Hi,
As per the title, I have noticed a couple of strange issues lately. I recently reset my phone and restored the settings (factory reset, Asia spec phone, not mods/hacks).
I have noticed that in my address book I have triple entries for people, some Windows Live entries with the last few letters of the surname chopped off.
Also I have noticed the built-in facebook app is frankly ****, takes ages to update or simply times out.
The browser does the same thing (over wifi) so not sure if it's my connection.
Second issue is the compass/GPS. I have a compass app which now seems to go nuts, it's calibrated but refuses to stay still and I suspect a minor drop may have jarred/damaged something (the phone was thankfully in it's cover so no external damage).
Cheers,
Fz
Those are a lot of things, at least I can comment on the network part:
I own both a Nokia Lumia and a Samsung Omnia W for development purposes. The Nokia always works fine, but the Samsung had a lot of problems connecting over Wifi. It didn't like the Apple Time Capsule, Belkin nor Engenius (the latter being a business grade access point). Symptoms where like yours: Timeouts on connection which could only be resolved temporary by removing the Wifi connection completely and re-adding (by re-typing the WPA2 key).
I was about to give up on this, until in our building a Wifi repeater was added to extend the wifi signal. From then on, the Samsung did connect completely stable. This is strange, because I was nearly always within a few feet from the original access point so a weak signal wasn't the issue here.
I don't know if you can use this info, at least you can try the remove-add of your Wifi network and see if that also solves your issue, albeit temporarily.
Hello there.
I am facing a problem which i think is caused from the bt.
Everything works fine (no battery drain, no heat, not lagging, no crashing apps, perfect voice quality etc) EXCEPT when i connect my bt headset(-s).
At first it works fine, make my calls, download emails browse everything. At some point (it could be 5 minutes it could be 5hrs) i am facing disconnections with the connected bt device. The phone may or may not show it is disconnected, it may or may not enable voice through bt (but i cannot hear anything). During the call i can toggle bluetooth and speak through the phone.
Here is the chain of events.
After this it drops the connection with the wifi and the menu stays at Searching mode (i left it in search mode for >5hrs with no luck discovering any wifi). If i disalble wireless or bt or enable/disable airplane mode the menu stays grey forever and with the dots in the upper screen keep coming and coming. Long story short i cannot toggle on/off any connectivity feature (only cellular data works under any circumstances), i have to either turn off and on the phone or soft reset it. I did two hard resets (one of them was clean state) but this behavior hasn't changed.
Also if i have only bt on and connected and i leave it overnight in the morning it shows about 10 - 15% battery and quiet hours are not auto disabled (also tried to turn Cortana Off) BUT if i plug it for FIVE minutes it goes back to 90-95%. and have normal battery consumption during the day.
The only thing i havent tried (and if i do i will do it only for testing reasons) is roll back back to WP8.0.
Am i facing a warranty issue or is it a glitch of the software (i am running Cyan)?

I got the exact same problem with my own L1020, have been fighting with support to have it fixed, they changed about everything (except the mainboard...) and the problem is still there.
I started to be really angry and got a free Lumia 930 in "replacement"... as I still got the L1020, I tried to put it under W10 preview, and it looks like the problem is really a software issue... with some builds, Bluetooth was working fine, with some the same problem appeared again...
I don't know if you found a solution in the meantime... if you did, I'd like to know what it was, because I like the 1020 better than the 930 (size and camera mostly) and I'd love to have it working with my MS Band
